Budget (including currency): $2500-$3000cdn Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: iRacing Asseto Corsa both in VR Other details I race cars, I'm injured and want to stay sharp, so putting a rig together. So many PC options and don't know how to maximize my budget. I'll be using an HP reverb or similar which is 2160x2160. Current thinking: AM5 CPU, what's the best bang for the buck keeping my budget in mind? Need to hit 80+ fps Video? Perhaps a used 3080ti? Any advice welcome!

Budget (including currency): $500, but really looking for value. I am privileged to be able to afford pretty much any Ryzen CPU, but I value making smart financial decisions Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Sim Games in VR, especially Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Assetto Corsa/iRacing Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I built a PC 3 years ago with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a GTX 1660 Super (with a B450 Tomahawk Max II mobo, 2x8GB DDR4 3200 ram, and a crucial 1TB SSD) and have been looking to upgrade for a bit. Now that prices are finally down I splurged and got a 3080 a couple months ago. My plan is to stagger upgrades, that way I don't overwhelm my monthly budget all at once, and it keeps me relatively up to date. So since I've now got the GPU, my next plan is the CPU. From my experience the 3600 + 3080 combo can play most normal games at 1440p without being bottlenecked by the CPU too hard, and for most games that I'm viewing on a flat screen, I'm not that worried about the difference between 80fps and 100fps, but in VR, and especially in sims, it does get bogged down to a point where it's noticeable in VR (which is not great because motion sickness, immersion breaking, etc). I'm almost certain its the CPU bottlenecking since I can run at a smooth 90Hz on my Reverb G2 in Assetto Corsa until I add a couple bots, when it can drop to 60Hz and even lag to 30Hz, not great in VR. I plan on playing MSFS eventually as well when I get a flight stick and I've heard that game is brutally CPU bound. I do some video editing, 3d modeling as well, but I'm not overly concerned about render times really. The 3600 is working just to my liking so far for those applications. Since I have the B450 motherboard (that does have the latest bios), I think I'm only looking for AM4 chips, since I think in most cases it won't make financial sense to get a new CPU and a new motherboard. In my research it seems like the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is my best bet really, but I'm concerned it could be a waste of money. Seems like in some applications the 5800X can match it and the 5700X can come close for like $100-200 less. The notable exception however is MSFS where the 5800X3D seems to dominate, and I'm wondering if other sim games could be similarly making use of that extra L3 cache. I do not mind overclocking as I consider myself very tech savvy, however I'm running a mid tower case and might not have much room for a big cooler (just running the AMD stock one right now). Plus if I have to buy an aftermarket cooler as well as the CPU that will add to the cost. I am considering picking up a different case since they are relatively cheap and the 3080 barely fits in my current one lol, but not 100% sure on that yet. Thanks in advance for the advice! Hi everyone, I'm looking for a way to setup a system that would allow me to make local phone calls and send SMS in one country, remotely from a computer in a different country. The idea is to get a SIM card with a phone number and somehow connect it with a junk phone or cellular USB modem to a computer and allowing some kind of access to it over the internet to make phone calls entirely on a computer software or web gui. Does anyone know of something like that? Alternatively there might be an app to control the phone over the internet and make a call on it that way, but that seems more restricted security-wise, so I haven't found anything like that. Thanks! -Sergey.

Budget Racing Sims It's the title but to make this for something that people can look for in the future I wanted to make this more professional and with some goals! I am assuming price budgets are for NEW items. Let's set some price budgets: Steering Wheels: Bare minimum budget - (Wheel Only) 100-150 USD: Premium Wheel - (Can include pedals bundled.) 200-300 USD: High End Wheel - 300-700 USD: Stand Alone Pedals: I'm assuming that if you are looking for pedals then you probably already have a decent wheel as most budget setups come with pedals already. Generic stand alone tri-pedal setup - (Clutch, Gas, Break) 100-150 USD: Premium weighted pedals - 200-300 USD: High end electronically haptic adjustable pedals - 400-800 USD: Shifter & Handbrake: Here's where we get tokyo drifting bois, Lets hit mount akina with our AE86's Generic shifter - 60-150 USD: Premium Shifter - 150-300 USD: Generic Handbrake - 60-150 USD: Premium Handbrake - 150-300 USD: If you guys have some recommendations on rigs for people to mount them as well toss those in too! If you guys can fit VR into the budget you wouldn't regret it! There are decently affordable and well performing Windows Mixed Reality headsets out there that can add so much to the experience. I cant wait to see what the community recommends as I will probably be splurging sometime soon on some hardware due to me just recently purchasing a 1990 Mazda Miata and wanting to turn it into a track/drift car! But first comes the practice on the simulators first.... Asseto Corsa anyone?

Hey there. I'm looking to buy a 4g sim card and put it in this https://www.amazon.co.uk/300Mbps-Unlocked-Powerful-Non-Detachable-Vodafone/dp/B07YCGMS6L/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=sim+router&qid=1605041062&sr=8-9 But the sim I want to buy has calls and text with it as well, the company also calls it a mobile sim. I'm pretty sure theres no such thing as a "mobile sim" and this sim should work in the router, but is there any reason why it wouldn't work with this router or so. I just want to make sure before I make any purchases, dont want to waste money. Thanks (:

So as I'm sure any of us using Epic know, they gave away(Or are giving away) Farm Simulator 2019, so of course being someone who likes to veg out on Farm Simulator, I got it. However its running really bad, like the video isn't great, I haven't done a true FPS test of it, but its definitely not even 30FPS in places. Is the game just poorly optimized? Is my Hardware not good enough for Farm Simulator? Like I've never had issues before with most newer titles. I've got 16GBs of Ram, a Ryzen 5 2600 3.9Ghz, and an RX580 4GB Power Color Red Dragon.

Hey everyone, I am completely new to the pc build world so I apologize in advance if I dont understand some terms. Im looking to build my first pc. I feel I have enough common sense to build my own but have 0 knowledge on what I need. I'm located in Ontario Canada and looking to spend no more then 1100$ if possible I'm looking to use this as a console/ computer so I would like the ability to run AAA games but also have windows 10. I'm also interested in lots of sim games too (Iracing, flight sim ect) and fl studios so I'm not sure if that requires more CPU power or something. I've looked on pc parts and have seen some builds that look pretty good but want to make sure I'm spending my money in the right places. Im a mechanic and work with a fair bit of electrical and ecm's but have just never entered the pc side of things. Thanks to anyone in advance that read this. Any help/advice is appreciated

Hey guys, I was wondering if there was any way to connect a SIM card to my laptop, perhaps through a USB port or an RJ-45 jack in order to have LTE connectivity on my laptop (which doesn't natively have a SIM slot). I'm not sure if this is possible, but I don't see why not as there are USB to WiFI adapters, but I haven't been able to find any adapters during, admitedly rather short, searching around time on Google. Thanks for your help

I bought a new phone a couple weeks back and with it have started the process of changing carrier. In the interim, I have been using my old phone with my old carrier. I have already paid for the first month of the plan, however my phone number has not been transferred yet (I've told the new carrier my number, but not given the final ok yet). Today, I received the SIM card from my new carrier in the mail and put it into my new phone. On startup, I received a notification that I had 2 new texts. I opened the notification and there were two texts from 4 days ago, sent by people that I know, that I had never, and still haven't, received on my old phone. I have texted back and forth with both people since that time with all messages coming to my old phone. There was an incredibly short period where I had 0 texts left (TracFone doesn't do unlimited texting), that I believe was no longer than a hour or two and I'm pretty sure didn't line up with these two texts. How and why could this happen? I'm worried that I could have missed some other texts and a little perplexed as to how they came to my new phone with the new SIM card. If it matters, I'm going from a Galaxy s7 to a Pixel 3a and from TracFone to Verizon.

I was having 3 (4G LTE) connections to my home, each of from different service provider. I usually use them separately as each has it's own wifi hotspot devices. I was thinking is there a way that I could put all 3 of my sim into one device with will give me 3 times the speed of 4G. which can be given to any of the wifi routers to transmit as wifi. I see an advantage in this setup as we are using 3 different service provider there will be no internet failure or drop in speed. Anyone can suggest a product or a DIY solution or comments or suggestion.

Hi, guys! ? I need some of your help in search for the router, that would: be easy to transport from place to place and quick to set up, access the Internet from SIM cards (so it has to be 4G LTE capable - 5G in Poland will not be seen soon, so let’s not bother with that), allow up to 100 devices connected at the time, be configurable so that only traffic to/from a specific website would be possible. There are several reasons why we wouldn’t opt for providing internet service to it by wire, so let’s skip it for now. The price is not a concern, but let’s stick to the maximum of 300-350$, although I believe less would be sufficient. If connecting this many devices t that single router would be a problem or simply a bad idea, then access points are an option too, but then again, the router has to support these and there should be no problem with moving all of the equipment. I know that bandwidth provided by LTE is certainly not too much for this many hosts, but after rather extensive discussions with clients we believe that’s our only reasonable option for what we’re trying to achieve, which is essentially a mobile hotspot for many users just for visiting one specific website. If you have any ideas, please let me know, it’s very important to me! Thanks in advance Thomas

Need opinion about buying laptop (From India)
Indira posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Hi Linus Forum, I am from India and looking forward for buying a laptop under Rs.40,000 ( USD 562 / CAD 738). Features I need are - Windows OS - USB C - SIM Card Slot - Good Storage Capacity - HD 1080p Display - Cool System with Reasonably good processor and RAM and graphics Would be using it for work purposes (engineering - Autocad software), movies browsing only. Not for gaming. Open to your suggestions.. -
Recently bought the Samsung Galaxy J8 off of eBay. Their is a stick on the top (see picture). Does it mean I have to make a call with a Southeast Asian Sim card first over 5 minutes, just so I can use my T-Mobile one? If so, that's seems absurd, what's the reasoning behind it?

By Wheel Setup i mean something that has pedals+wheel doesn't need a shifter since im ok with using padel shifters. Best racing wheel for 400$? No More. I was thinking of a combination from this thrustmaster base which is 160$, this wheel add on which is 95$, and these pedals which are 150$ for a grand total of 405$. If you find something cheaper, that doesn't really change the feel that much, then thats even better

Ive got a Meizu M3 Note, and have recently added the SIM from my work phone to it in order to use the masses of mobile data my work provides. My phone can use both SIMs, and gets a solid connection, but when I set it so that my work SIM is used for mobile data, it stops receiving a connection via my personal SIM. any idea why this would be happening?

If i have my sim card in, when I turn on my phone, it says Samsung with a unlocked lock and then word custom beneath it, then the wavy samsung screen, then the at&t screen(which takes longer then wit no sim. The best Of the best Wheel+Shifter+Pedal Combo under 350$? the pedals have to have a clutch, and the shifter has to be an H shifter. You can go ham with everything else. Been looking at a g29/920 and i think their ok, but i wanna ask the community if they have anything better to offer. Thanks for reading and hopefully you can help me out

Hi guys, am Sam, Nigeria based. Many times some tech guys do come up free internet cheat or hack on the network companies here like MTN Nigeria, Glo Nigeria, Aritel Nigeria and co, but hardly do any of them work. So i want to ask on this platform, is there any real way to get free internet? Secondly, is there any universal mifi modem that can work in any country? and how do the user subscribe to it? Hopping to get some good and positive responds. Best regards Sam

Hello, So i bought the pocophone f1 as a replacement phone for my galaxy j7 sky pro. I just go the phone today set it all up but im having trouble setting up straight talk my carrier before. I assumed that straight talk would work for this phone since it was stated in one of the amazon questions that it does indeed work. I tried using the normal straight talk app and keeping my same phone number. My old phone goes inactive but thats it, even after several reboots and messing with the setting it wont show a sign thats it working but whats od is that the app shows boths ones my new poco phone as active and my old phone as non active and I have switched it back to my old phone then tried it again and nothing. The real thingim wondering is since I bought my sky pro at Walmart as a straight talk phone would trying to use that sim card on a GSM unlocked phone not work or is it maybe something else. I tried entering my sim car number into straight talks website and all it says is that I cant process that number and this is the same that works for my old J7 pro.

One time I had taken out and then replaced a sim card in an old phone I was getting ready to sell. I then received a phone call and I saw my old iPhone picked up the call, even though I was using my new phone. I was wondering if I could order a smart watch and just pop in one of my two older sims (with the same phone number) to get calls on the watch. I'm sure I'm mistaken but it makes sense to me. I ask this because I;m thinking of getting a smart watch and if adding 4g to it is that easy and doesn't add any extra charges top my plan then I'll want to do that.

Hiya Everyone. I assume this is the correct place to post this. I have a oneplus 5 and recently got give the option to get a work phone. Rather than carrying around two phones, I decided to look into the dual sim option within the phone. However after a bit of a play around, even though multiple sms apps support dual sim, I couldnt find one which does dual inbox. I dont want to have my personal texts and work texts in the same inbox as it just creates too much clutter. Rather than downloading every app one at a time, does anyone know of a app that supports dual sim & dual inbox? Thanks
