Hello there, As of today I’ve been having a problem with my pc. It randomly shuts down while gaming, and when it does I can’t turn it back on, until I plug out the power and plug it in again, then I can turn it on again. This makes me think that it’s a problem with the power supply. It’s weird though cause I’ve never had any problems with it so I’m really confused. specs: Ryzen 7 1700 (overclocked to 3.7ghz with a 1.25 voltage) maybe this could be the problem? GTX 1080 FTW evga MSI gaming x370 pro carbon mobo 16GB Corsair vengeance 1TB HDD, 250 GB SSD Samsung evo 650W Be quiet pure power i just hope that I won’t have to RMA any parts cause it’s a struggle. Do you guys have any idea what it could be? It’s just odd cause it always has worked perfectly fine. temperatures seem fine so I don’t think it’s overheating thanks in regards!

PC Specs: CPU: Intel i7 4790k GPU: Asus R9 290X Direct CU II OC Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Hero DDR3: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB Kit (8x2) PSU: Seasonic 860W Platinum I don't know what is causing my computer to shutdown. I have it plugged to a wattage meter for my to test the power consumption of my PC. It is telling me It runs at 108W at idle and 415W at 100% full load. I have already stress tested my PC for 30mins. The problem occurs at RANDOM. I stress that is it completely RANDOM. I only use my computer to play games so it will definitely occur when I am gaming, but I think that's just a coincidence. Since I don't do anything else on my computer but game, I would assume it could happen even if I don't game. But when I leave my PC on overnight and AFK in an MMO I don't usually run into this problem. Sometimes I even leave my PC online for 4 days straight with any problems. It occurs maybe like 1-3 times a month and gets very annoying to me. Send Help.

I have some what of a serious problem. My pc refuses to shutdown, sleep, or hibernate.all this happens after I cloned my 224ssd to my 1tb nvme. The pc started with the fact it was giving me q-code 8. It was stuck there for a while so I reset it. Then I did the cloning. I then went to flash the bios from 1001 to 1005 (asus crosshair 6 hero am4). THEN I booted from the clone (after bios flash).me having the ruzwn build, I thought it was a good idea to mess with the dohcp settings cus ryzen and ram.(64gb rated at 2666, runs at default 2130? Or something). Do a few reboots and stuff. Got stuck on q-code 8 agin this time I refused to reset. Had to hard shut down after a few minutes.that is when I had to do all these reset. It started to freeze at boot on the ROG logo. Eventually I had to clear cemos and do a hard shut down including the psu.at some point I changed the dohcp setting from 2660 to 2400. Left it there and it booted correctly and the pc still saw 2113.( or something). I didn’t think much of it so I went ahead and started some homework on adobe for about 30mins then games for about 2hrs. That’s when I noticed that it was refucing to shutdown sleep or hibernate. Me and a friend started to figure out what t was that was causing it. After serval attempts of shutting down or anything else, I decided to go to bios and disable fast boot because I thought that was the issue. It was still refusing. I left it on all night (4-5hrs) before I decided to hard shut down for the rest of the day. Still off as I am typing this out. I don’t know what to do.

Please Help: When playing certain games (and once even just using google chrome) my computer shuts down (quickly as if the plug was pulled) and restarts out of nowhere, some games it happens at different times for example DayZ Standalone it happens seconds after startup, where as games like fallout4 will only happen after a while. My Specs: Operating System - Windows 10 64xbit CPU - Intel Pentium G3258 (3.2Ghz) not overclocked GPU - MSI GTX950 2GB RAM - 16GB (4x4gb sticks) G Skill Ripjaws x 1333mhz MotherBoard - Gigabyte GA-B85M PSU - Silverstone 500w 1TB harddrive 250GB SSD (operating system loaded on ssd) I have monitored my temps while gaming and they're fine, While stress testing my GPU doesn't exceed 65C and my CPU doesn't exceed 72C. All My drivers have been updated and this hasn't changed anything, it still crashes frequently and i'm unsure how to fix this issue, i've tried going through event viewer a couple times after the crashes but can't find anything helpful.

Hi everyone, still new to the forum and getting my hands dirty with Linux (again been a long while since I used it). I have a problems that I am trying to solved, so I can bring my iMac 24" back to happy life. In the past 6 months (more or less) my iMac has been shutting down for no reason. In the middle of me trying to browse the web, working on others things and sometimes at start up. I have replaced the hard drive, and memory thinking that those were the problem. But it is still doing it. Not sure what to do to fix the problem at this point. Some guidance would be greatly appriciated in solving this problem. Thanks in advance, LD

So weird thing just happened... I went to boot my computer up from Shutdown, lights in case came on and the Republic of Gamers logo displayed on screen (f2 to enter BIOS etc etc) but didn't proceed to display windows login screen. Instead screens just displayed black. Tried force shutdown twice with same result, then pulled the plug....I noticed my headphones were plugged in so I took them out too (audio jack at front).... Booted totally fine. I am using a ASUS ROG Strix X399-E. I know this could happen booting with a USB plugged in but headphones really?? It's especially weird because earlier in the day I accidentally restarted with a USB storage disc plugged into the front and it booted totally fine. They're are just a pair of meh Xbox 1 Headphones (no mic) TL;DR Headphones cause boot problems?

(Video of issue at bottom of post) System specs: 6700k Noctua NH-D15 Gigabyte Gaming 7 Z170 G.Skil TridentZ 3400 Mhz RAM Zotac GTX 1070 AMP! Edition 2x SSD 1x 1TB HDD EVGA 650w G2 80+ Gold PSU Backstory: About 3 months ago, I had purchased an Oculus Rift and had a friend over to play around with it. We set everything up on my screened in porch for maximum play space. While playing a bowling game, my friend slammed his fist on the table my PC was sitting on by accident, and it immediately froze up and started making an awful electronic glitching sound ("MERRRRRRRR"). Hitting the reset switch did nothing, so the only thing I could do was flip the PSU switch and reboot. It sat there and boot-looped for about 10 to 15 minutes before it finally decided to post and boot. Ever since then, the same thing will happen even if the PC receives minimal shock. For instance, letting my mouse down a little too hard is enough to set it off. The audio doesn't always glitch out too. And 95% of the time, the only thing I can do is flip the power switch and let it bootloop for a while until it finally boots. The only step I've taken to resolve the issue one my own is a complete rebuild. I tore the PC down, checked everything from connectors, to cables, to standoffs. Here is me demonstrating the issue: Note that in this video I am greatly exaggerating the amount of shock needed to make it freeze, only for the video. Here is what happens afterwards: This can go on anywhere from 20 seconds to 15 minutes. I actually gave up after I recorded this and am typing this on a Macbook haha. The only two things I think may be causing this are either the PSU or the RAM.

I have a New Ryzen Build and I build it like 15 days ago. I have a AMD RYZEN 1500X with Wraith Spire MSI GTX 1050Ti Gaming X 4G MSI B350M VDH 8GB Hyper X Ram Cooler Master MassWatt Lite 500W WD Blue 1TB 4 Case Fans Corsair Carbide SPEC 02 Case It worked great for like 10 days and after that it suddenly started to shut off randomly, sometimes it shuts off at the start and sometimes it shuts off when I boot in to Windows and idle for a while. My Temp are : CPU - 45°C idle & MOBO 36°C idle ( Temps checked in BIOS. I have done no overclocking at all and my room temp are fairly good. I think it's a PSU failure or overheating issue. BTW sometime when my PC shuts off my Mouse & keyboard lights start to twich or flash for a while and it looks like that some one is plugging the in and out rapidly. My PC boots into Windows perfectly but doesn't last long as it shuts off in a while. I tried to unplug and plug back cables but it didn't work. I tried reapplying Thermal Paste but that also did not work. I Reinstalled the GPU and RAM but that also has no effect on the situation.

I thought I solved this problem, but it's happening again. My Microsoft Surface Pro (5) i7 keeps randomly shutting down, it's like it's going into a hibernate mode, because when I turn it back on, everything just resumes. But it shows the boot logo and everything as if I just turned it on.

Hey there, I work at a school and we're using a laptop that is hooked up to a tv to show a Powerpoint about the school so people can see it when they walk by. Thing is, it is always connected with a charger. Even though it is it still powers off? I don't know how long it's running before it shuts down, maybe 1-2 days or less? I have changed all the possible power saving settings so it shouldn't shut down for anything. Could it have to do with Windows Update pending? Hope you understand what I am talking about! Thanks.

So yeah my cpu, gpu and 3 system fans are spinning after windows shutdown and they only stop when i switch off the psu or plug it off the wall. Also when i switch my psu back on fans will immeadetly start spinning. Sometimes only cpu and gpu fans will stay on and I have no clue why that is happening. I also noticed that on my MSI motherboard the cpu EZ debug led is on while the system is "shutdown". I'm running windows 10 64bit and here are my system specs: intel skylake i5-6600 asus gtx1060 6gb turbo msi b250m mortar corsair vengeance lpx 8gb ddr4 corsair vs650 Thanks in advance!

H, Since i upgrade my case to a BeQuiet Dark Base Pro 900 my PC shuts down itself and reboots without any bluescreen or signs of failure also in the event viewer there isnt anything who cause the shitdown. The thing is i can run benchmarks as Prime95 or Furmark or whatever benchmark without a problem but if i start a game the PC will shut down and reboot sometimes it can take 5 minutes and sometimes it can take 2 hours. I changed my CPU and CPU cooler. I also did a fresh install of Windows 10. I got this problem a while ago and i changed my motherboard and cpu and the problem was gone since now when im changed my case, i also changed my PSU back then but it didnt bring any change to the restart. My Cpu temp under load is between 45 and 60 degree celsius and my GPU is arround 82 celsius. I also checkem my harddrives and did a BIOS update, my RAM looks okay to the testing with MEMTEST. Specs: I7-6700KASUS Z170-ANZXT Kraken x52RAM 16GB Corsair VengancePSU EVGA 850 P2 GTX 1080 FEHDD Seagate 1TB2x Samsung SSD 840 PRO 256GBSasmung SSD 850 EVO 120 GB Edit: I run Furmar and Prime95 at the same time for about a half an our without any problem. The PSU Voltages were: 12V:...12.384, 5V:....5.000, 3.3V:.... 3.344V. So i belive it wont be the PSU who causing troubles.

random shutdown Cause of Random Shutdowns and Power Cycling
Auyott posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I made a post yesterday about the system I built a few days ago that began suffering from random shutdowns and insanely extensive power cycling/bootlooping. A helpful user helped me diagnose the issue as having to do with the GPU, however, I can now confirm this is not the case, as the system now shuts down (albeit less frequently) on integrated graphics. After it shuts down, the power supply makes a repeated clicking noise for several minutes as the system turns on and off repeatedly. Is it the power supply or the motherboard causing it at this point? I ran extensive tests on the CPU and RAM, and those seem to be fine. The power supply is a concern of mine due to the clicking noise and the fact that it shuts down sooner when I am drawing more power. The motherboard concerns me as it is a new part that I have no reason to trust, and every time it shuts down and bootloops, it clears my CMOS. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Luckily, all of my parts are still in warranty, so if necessary, an RMA can be done.- 6 replies

I recently built a new system (full specs at bottom of post) and it ran perfectly for three days. After that time, it began to shutdown when under heavy, graphically intensive load. When it shuts down, it will attempt to restart repeatedly for about 2 to 5 minutes before finally booting to a screen that states that the BIOS has been reset. At first, I suspected the graphics card. This was not the case, as I tried running my integrated graphics and had the same problem. I eventually swapped out every part I had spares of for troubleshooting apart from the CPU and the motherboard (as I don't have extras of these components). I RMA'd the motherboard, as I was nearly certain it was the cause. A couple weeks later, I got the very same board back from MSI and it had the same exact problem. I still suspect the motherboard, and I am about to buy a new one from ASUS, but first I wanted to make sure that the CPU could not be causing this. Prime95 runs flawlessly with no crashes, so the CPU seems safe to me. The motherboard seems to be the only cause of this issue. Should I RMA the motherboard a second time? Should I go ahead and buy a new one from ASUS? What are the chances of the CPU causing this? All responses are greatly appreciated. Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K @ stock speed w/Coolermaster Hyper 212X (will overclock if I can get this system working at stock) GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW ACX 3.0 RAM: 16gb (2x8) G.Skill Ripjaws V @3000mhz (ran at 2133 for troubleshooting) PSU: EVGA Supernova 650 G2 Motherboard: MSI Z270 SLI PLUS Storage: 1x Samsung 850 EVO SSD (500gb); 1x Toshiba 7200RPM HDD (2tb)

Hey there! I'm currently facing a major problem which is hindering my work on my PC. Basically whenever I boot up my system and run it over a time of 15-30 minutes, it will shut down randomly. It usually shuts down faster whenever I'm playing any games; however, recently whenever I boot up my system it will shut down immediately. It seems to be getting worse. Please let me know if you have any tips/solutions to these problems. Hi guys! I finished building my new computer! I have one problem, when I turn it off through windows, the screen will turn off, but the fans, cpu and gpu will continue to work and spin. I left it on for over 2 hours, so I know this is an error. My motherboard is the ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero Alpha. I think the motherboard is the problem, but the psu is fine. I looked for fixes in the bios. Any help is appreciated.
