Hey Guys This is my first Topic here. Rig: I7 5820k Msi x99a sli plus 16 GB ddr4 Cruical Evga GTX 1080ti SC Inter-Tech CPM 750W modular Netzteil (750 Watt, 8x SATA, 140mm Lüfter) https://www.amazon.de/dp/B005EKZ54M/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_PS.Ozb7J1W9FB Whole system is custom watercooled. Since i built my pc I had a strange issue. When i overclocked my CPU to an BCLK strip of 100/167Mhz, multiplier of 40/43/45 and set the voltage to 1,25V/1,3V, the Pc shut down immediately or when while benchmarking/gaming. In this scenario the Graphics card was at szock speed. Or I had this issue: CPU at stock speed, graphics card at 120% power target, +50 Mhz chip clock -> 2Ghz . Sometimes the game crashed and the vga driver reseted. Okay so the clock of the gpu was overkill. But sometimes, like in 3D mark firestrikre ultra, the whole system shut down after the first graphics test loaded. (The test didn't started) Soo.. could it be because the cpu/gpu needed more power (1,3volt cpu/ 120% powertarget gpu) and the cheap powersupply couldn't managed that? On amazon the supply has slmetimes bad reviews. Thanks for help

PC Specs: CPU: Intel i7 4790k GPU: Asus R9 290X Direct CU II OC Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Hero DDR3: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB Kit (8x2) PSU: Seasonic 860W Platinum I don't know what is causing my computer to shutdown. I have it plugged to a wattage meter for my to test the power consumption of my PC. It is telling me It runs at 108W at idle and 415W at 100% full load. I have already stress tested my PC for 30mins. The problem occurs at RANDOM. I stress that is it completely RANDOM. I only use my computer to play games so it will definitely occur when I am gaming, but I think that's just a coincidence. Since I don't do anything else on my computer but game, I would assume it could happen even if I don't game. But when I leave my PC on overnight and AFK in an MMO I don't usually run into this problem. Sometimes I even leave my PC online for 4 days straight with any problems. It occurs maybe like 1-3 times a month and gets very annoying to me. Send Help.

I recently built a new system (full specs at bottom of post) and it ran perfectly for three days. After that time, it began to shutdown when under heavy, graphically intensive load. When it shuts down, it will attempt to restart repeatedly for about 2 to 5 minutes before finally booting to a screen that states that the BIOS has been reset. At first, I suspected the graphics card. This was not the case, as I tried running my integrated graphics and had the same problem. I eventually swapped out every part I had spares of for troubleshooting apart from the CPU and the motherboard (as I don't have extras of these components). I RMA'd the motherboard, as I was nearly certain it was the cause. A couple weeks later, I got the very same board back from MSI and it had the same exact problem. I still suspect the motherboard, and I am about to buy a new one from ASUS, but first I wanted to make sure that the CPU could not be causing this. Prime95 runs flawlessly with no crashes, so the CPU seems safe to me. The motherboard seems to be the only cause of this issue. Should I RMA the motherboard a second time? Should I go ahead and buy a new one from ASUS? What are the chances of the CPU causing this? All responses are greatly appreciated. I thought I solved this problem, but it's happening again. My Microsoft Surface Pro (5) i7 keeps randomly shutting down, it's like it's going into a hibernate mode, because when I turn it back on, everything just resumes. But it shows the boot logo and everything as if I just turned it on.

I have a New Ryzen Build and I build it like 15 days ago. I have a AMD RYZEN 1500X with Wraith Spire MSI GTX 1050Ti Gaming X 4G MSI B350M VDH 8GB Hyper X Ram Cooler Master MassWatt Lite 500W WD Blue 1TB 4 Case Fans Corsair Carbide SPEC 02 Case It worked great for like 10 days and after that it suddenly started to shut off randomly, sometimes it shuts off at the start and sometimes it shuts off when I boot in to Windows and idle for a while. My Temp are : CPU - 45°C idle & MOBO 36°C idle ( Temps checked in BIOS. I have done no overclocking at all and my room temp are fairly good. I think it's a PSU failure or overheating issue. BTW sometime when my PC shuts off my Mouse & keyboard lights start to twich or flash for a while and it looks like that some one is plugging the in and out rapidly. My PC boots into Windows perfectly but doesn't last long as it shuts off in a while. I tried to unplug and plug back cables but it didn't work. I tried reapplying Thermal Paste but that also did not work. I Reinstalled the GPU and RAM but that also has no effect on the situation.

So yeah my cpu, gpu and 3 system fans are spinning after windows shutdown and they only stop when i switch off the psu or plug it off the wall. Also when i switch my psu back on fans will immeadetly start spinning. Sometimes only cpu and gpu fans will stay on and I have no clue why that is happening. I also noticed that on my MSI motherboard the cpu EZ debug led is on while the system is "shutdown". I'm running windows 10 64bit and here are my system specs: intel skylake i5-6600 asus gtx1060 6gb turbo msi b250m mortar corsair vengeance lpx 8gb ddr4 corsair vs650 Thanks in advance!

random shutdown Cause of Random Shutdowns and Power Cycling
Auyott posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I made a post yesterday about the system I built a few days ago that began suffering from random shutdowns and insanely extensive power cycling/bootlooping. A helpful user helped me diagnose the issue as having to do with the GPU, however, I can now confirm this is not the case, as the system now shuts down (albeit less frequently) on integrated graphics. After it shuts down, the power supply makes a repeated clicking noise for several minutes as the system turns on and off repeatedly. Is it the power supply or the motherboard causing it at this point? I ran extensive tests on the CPU and RAM, and those seem to be fine. The power supply is a concern of mine due to the clicking noise and the fact that it shuts down sooner when I am drawing more power. The motherboard concerns me as it is a new part that I have no reason to trust, and every time it shuts down and bootloops, it clears my CMOS. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Luckily, all of my parts are still in warranty, so if necessary, an RMA can be done.- 6 replies

H, Since i upgrade my case to a BeQuiet Dark Base Pro 900 my PC shuts down itself and reboots without any bluescreen or signs of failure also in the event viewer there isnt anything who cause the shitdown. The thing is i can run benchmarks as Prime95 or Furmark or whatever benchmark without a problem but if i start a game the PC will shut down and reboot sometimes it can take 5 minutes and sometimes it can take 2 hours. I changed my CPU and CPU cooler. I also did a fresh install of Windows 10. I got this problem a while ago and i changed my motherboard and cpu and the problem was gone since now when im changed my case, i also changed my PSU back then but it didnt bring any change to the restart. My Cpu temp under load is between 45 and 60 degree celsius and my GPU is arround 82 celsius. I also checkem my harddrives and did a BIOS update, my RAM looks okay to the testing with MEMTEST. Specs: I7-6700KASUS Z170-ANZXT Kraken x52RAM 16GB Corsair VengancePSU EVGA 850 P2 GTX 1080 FEHDD Seagate 1TB2x Samsung SSD 840 PRO 256GBSasmung SSD 850 EVO 120 GB Edit: I run Furmar and Prime95 at the same time for about a half an our without any problem. The PSU Voltages were: 12V:...12.384, 5V:....5.000, 3.3V:.... 3.344V. So i belive it wont be the PSU who causing troubles.

UPDATE: so apparently there was an issue with my PSU after all, after swapping it out for the PSU from my old rig it booted up and worked properly. Specs: i7 6700K at 4Ghz (was i5 6600K at 3.5 Ghz) Corsair H80I v2 Crucial - Ballistix Sport LT 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory Gigabyte Z170 X gaming 3 motherboard (was Asus Z170-E) MSI Armor OC GTX 1080 (swapped for R9 280 then swapped back after testing) Samsung 850 evo 250 gig ssd Seagate Barracuda 1TB and Western Digital Caviar blue 2TB HDD EVGA 650 P2 psu TP-Link Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter (TL-WDN4800) Windows 10 Pro 64-bit so for the past couple of months my pc has been shutting down after a bit of use, straight to black screen, and then going into a seemingly infinite turn on/turn off pattern, I've tried replacing everything except for the ram (I did try only using only 1 stick at a time) and PSU (tested the psu using this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005UZHB6G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 PSU is working properly according to my results ) I have tried re installing windows and de-fragmenting my drives, I have tried turning it off and on again, I even tried using my pc in a different room of my house. Using Speccy to monitor temps the cpu idles at 24C and the gpu hovers around 40C. I would appreciate any and all help thank you. Sorry for iphone camera quality, and the mess.

Hello all ! Around a year and a half ago, i upgraded my system from gtx 550 ti , to 970 g1 , and added Samsung 850 evo. Everything was fine for a year, except couple of crashes hear and there, and sometimes didn't boot and made 3 short beeps, i mostly solved this by removing one ram stick and reinserting. One day when i played my computer crashed, no blue screen, I tried to boot him up, and got short quick beeps when trying to boot. I was like , OK this has happened before so I got one ram stick out, and now the computer booted, was stuck on bios , and beeping every 30 seconds. I tried to unplug Hard drive , optical drive reader , every external phariperal and still same error- stuck on bios with long beeps every 30 seconds. I tried to boot without the GPU , which the computer did , and I was presented with this screen( I was using the onboard graphics), .I waited till it finished, and the computer booted up normally. When I tried to insert the graphics card the computer doesn't want to bot and I'm getting 1 long beep , and 3 short ones. I sent the card to RMA (stupidly i know), and they returned it to me as the gpu was fine.My friend then tested the card on his system and it worked fine. When i got the card, i inserted it into the pc, booted fine , had a very long bios screen 1-2 minutes, then windows loaded fine.I Fixed this problem by updating my bios version (F5 -> F12), but now when i try to play a game, my computer just reboot after 20 min or so (depends on the game). When im not doing anything that requires high gpu usage the computer is stable. I wanted to test my machine to eliminate other problems, so i used a stress test that consisted of Furmark, and prime95, while recording sensors with hwinfo. My computer rebooted after around 9 minutes. I also did only prime95 for 2 hours, and my computer was fine, cpu peaked at 75c, but average was 65 c, so temperatures are not a problem. Even in my games, and in the benchmark my gpu would work fine, and i got good frame rate. I attached the stress test log below, and here are my full computer specs : http://speccy.piriform.com/results/d027LREWndsbtpYgHyEv7iT I'm using Antec 500w 80+ bronze, dont know the exacts model, but here is an image with some data (This might be very useful - it states all the power info): I speculate the cause of the problem im my psu - its not giving enough power, but i want to be sure, and if so, what psu should i buy for my system ? Thanks in advanced. FullStressTest.CSV

Hello LTT community: I've been experiencing random shutdowns of my PC. It's an i5 6600K (with a CM V8 GTS cooler) , 16GB Corsair Vengeance LED, a MSI GeForce GTX 1080, and two hard drives (a Samsung 850 Evo SSD and a WD Caviar Black) on an Asus Z170 Sabertooth Mark 1 which gets power from a Seasonic M12II 750w PSU. The thing is that I built this PC back in October 2016 and I did not have any problem at all with it. I game on it (Doom, Forza Horizon 3, Planet Coaster, etc) and so far everything was perfect until I installed the Windows 10 Creators Update. When I did so I started experiencing these random shutdowns. It would randomly restart, sometimes when I get into the logon screen, sometimes when I got into the desktop, sometimes after a couple of minutes... I got to run a "sfc /scannow " from recovery command line and it found no problems. I finally ended up rolling back to the previous version of Windows 10 and now its more stable, but It keeps shutting down and restarting randomly rarely and It's so annoying. I've changed three things on my PC recently: 1) The one that made it more evident: The Creator's Update 2) I have a Logitech G19 keyboard. I put a script on it to make it change colors automatically. (No way this could be causing my entire pc to shutdown but... one does not know) 3) I recently changed my monitor to a LG 24MP88HV-S. I don't want to think that my PSU is faulty. I do have my PC connected to a power strip where I do have all the other accesories connected (Monitor, Speakers, Keyboard) Maybe I should try replacing the power cable or even the power strip.

Hi all, So I've just upgraded my 2 year old pc's 970 to a non-extreme Aorus GTX 1080 TI (full system specs below). However, after about 10 minutes of tweaking with settings in Mass Effect Andromeda the PC suddenly shut off and restarted again without any warning. (never happened before). I didn't think that this could be a GPU crash so I hooked up a power meter to measure the system power draw. It seems as though it is drawing far too much power (details below). I tried tweaking a few things but the shutoff has happened again while running Heaven. Since then I've been watching the power meter carefully so that I don't sustain high power draw for longer than a minute or so to reduce risk of system damage. Full system: - i5 4690k OC to 4.5GHz at 1.250V - H100i v2 cpu cooler - Aorus (non-extreme) GTX 1080 Ti (F4 beta bios) - AsRock Z97 Extreme 4 motherboard - 2x4GB GSkill Ripjaws 1866MHz RAM (stock voltage) - Cooler Master V750 (750W 80+ Gold, semi modular) - 4x 120mm chassis fans - 3TB Seagate Barracuda 7500rpm HDD - 250GB Samsung 850 Evo SSD - Blu Ray drive - PCI-e wireless network adapter Power Draw Test Results: Idle: 110W Idle + all system fans maxed: 135W (includes GPU fans and H100i pump) Prime 95 v26.6 only: 300W Prime 95 + GPU Test: 910W Heaven only: 730W (highest settings, no AA, 1440p res) Witcher 3: 820W (all settings maxed, no hairworks, some post processing off, 4k DSR on 1080p panel) These were all tested with the power limit on the GPU maxed to 375W, +30 on core and +550 on memory clocks. The idea with the Prime 95 tests was to max out cpu power and use that as a baseline for estimating gpu power draw using gpu test with Prime95 still running. According to this test, gpu draw is around 600W from the wall - that seems crazy high even when considering psu efficiency losses. For example, in the reviews for this gpu they are measuring max total system power draw to be around 450-500W, and these systems are X99 based with overclocked enthusiast cpus. Yes they are using higher efficiency power supplies but surely my 2 year old 80+ Gold 750W supply should be better more than adequate. Is it just me or do these numbers seem abnormally high? I should also add that after the first shutdown, I immediately plugged in the power meter and started the same game with all settings unchanged and looked at the same scene. Power draw was approx 830W. Any ideas as to what could be going on here? I'd really appreciate any help/advice/insight. Thanks in advance!

Hey Guys So after finding no help from other forums I thought it's about time I post my own problem and hope someone out there has some wisdom. So in November 2016, I built my new rig (pic included). Everything installed fine and was running smooth as butter. One day in about January 2017, I finally needed to plug in a USB to the front panel ports, the only one that was plugged in previously was the install media when I built it. When I plugged it in, boom, the PC just powers off and restarts, kinda like a surge has happened. Once restarted I can plug and unplug any amount of USB cables/sticks etc any number of times with no issue. It can go days without needing to plug anything in, then Ill find myself plugging my phone cable in (standard USB to micro USB) and as soon as the USB touches the port i.e not fully inserted the same issue. The only log I have is the unhelpful Kernal Power 41 notification in Event Viewer. So when the PC is running no issues, It can be on for days using the web, watching movies, playing games etc etc so Im fairly sure the power for the system is fine. I have checked the conections and cannot see anything that would cause it to short. The final thing I can think of is static build up, what do you guys think? Hello, I just purchased a used Palo Alto PA-4050, and the seller seems to not have changed their password for the management options. Is there a way to do a hard factory reset, or any other way to access the management console? The default username/password or admin/admin is not working. Also, is there a power switch or anything of that sort, or is it safe to just pull the plug on it? I don't know how to correctly power it off, but I need to turn it off since I am only temporarily working on it at this location. If I sound like a noob, it's because this is my first firewall. I am studying CIT and I thought it would be good for my education if I could buy one of these to work on at home. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, I am not sure when did this issue started to happen, but most likely, when I bought new graphics card (MSI 1060 Gaming). The issue I am having is, that, once per X days, when I turn on my computer, Windows 10 loading indicator will show up, then both connected monitors will go black and nothing else happens. As the output wouldn't have any signal. When this happens, I have to force shutdown my computer long pressing the power button. After that I turn it on again and everything works as it should. There are NO other issues when using system. - no random reboots, - no gpu issues, - no overheating - no blue screens So the big question is, why is this happening? My computer specs are: INTEL Xeon E3-1231V3 3.40GHz 8MB 4C/8T ASROCK H97M Pro4 CORSAIR AX760 Platinum Crucial BLS2CP8G3D1609DS1S00 16G(2x8G) CRUCIAL MX100 512GB 25/S600 This irritates the heck out of me and I really want to figure it out why this is happening or at least, what can be the probable cause of it. - All devices have latest drivers, - I have latest BIOS version - As said, there are 0 other issues Thank you all for your help!

I'll try to make this as clear as I can. So my friend bought a new Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB Windforce Edition and a EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze power supply. He also has a i5 2500k CPU and 2 x 4 GB RAM. The problem is that when he tries to play games (Rocket League, Overwatch...) the PC shuts down and then turns on again. There is no blue screen of death etc. We tried an old power cord and it wont work. Yesterday we tried it at my place and everything worked perfectly. Gaming on 2 screens (both 1080p) on 100 fps, recording with OBS at the same time. It all worked perfectly normal. Then we took the PC to his house and Rocket League and recording worked. When he started recording in Overwatch it shut down and restarted again. Now we can't even get the PC to start Rocket League or update any drivers. When he puts in the old power supply and old GPU GT 420 1GB it works again. Does anyone know what It could be? Could it be the electricity in the house? Could a powerline conditioner help?

Hi. So a while ago I changed my CPU cooler and installed a 212LED from Cooler Master. About a week after or so my PC froze and turned itself off. When I turned it back on, it powered up without a beep and the screen was powered off. Then my USB devices (Mouse and Keyboard) were also powered off. Meaning the lights on them didn't work. So I unplugged and plugged it back on and it worked. For a few days. Then it happened again but this time it made me open up the PC and reconnect some of the stuff like the memories and the graphics card and the power cables, etc... then it worked again and it hasn't shut down since(about 2 weeks). Now about two weeks later I keep getting this annoying "USB device not recognized" with the windows "ding" sound over and over and over again to the point that it's impossible to work with it. I unplugged all the USBs and everything to the point where I only have a power cable and an HDMI cable connected but it still gives me the same issue. I have a second windows that's not on my SSD and I tried to boot that one up to see what happens. And no change. It still gave me the same issue. I'm highly irritate and can't get my works done. I have no idea what to do since no USB is connected to the PC. I'm suspecting that my Motherboard( which has only been working for +2 months) has some sort of issue that cannot be fixed by me. My device manager says that the failed USB location is "Port_#0003.Hub_#0001". But it doesn't give me anything more than that. Could you guys please help me figure out the issue? Is there a way to disable the notification and carry on? Should I even do that? Does this mean I should be looking for a new MOBO? Windows 10 x64 i7-6700k 4.0 Asus_Z 170M_plus Corsair Vengence LPX 2x8GB DDR4 3000MHz Cooler Master GX650w Crucial 525GB MX300 M.2 Type 2280SS SSD 1TB Seagate sata Thanks. P.S: I've already updated my BIOS but no improvements was achived. Update 1: I tried connecting the old cpu fan just to emulate the previous situation and see if the new one was the source of the issue. And while I was at it I removed one stick of memory and plugged the other one into a different slot. The machine worked fine for a solid 20-30minutes but then the issue returned. No improvements. Please help.

hi everyone. i have built my gf a new pc all parts are brand new and seem to be functioning well but we have come across a problem. it randomly shuts down and the power led blinks and will not turn on unless i turn off the psu and let the power drain from it, i am at the moment testing a new power lead but things i have done already are as follows. .removed 24 pin and pcie 6pin extensions .removed GPU .reset and updated bios .stress tested with multiple games and processes its seem that no matter what i do on the pc it will shut down when it wants to, i assume it may be the psu but would really like input for all of you. build: WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch HyperX FURY 120 GB SATA 3 2.5 inch SSD HyperX FURY 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3 1866 MHz CL10 DIMM Memory Module Kit - Black HyperX FURY 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3 1866 MHz CL10 DIMM Memory Module Kit - White ASUS GeForce DUAL-GTX1060-6G 6 GB Graphics Card - Silver NZXT RL-KRX31-01 120mm Kraken Water Cooler EVGA 600 W 80+ PC Power Supply Unit - White NZXT S340 Mid Tower PC Case - White AMD FX6300 Black Edition 6 Core (3.5/4.1GHz, 8MB Level 3 Cache, 6MB Level 2 Cache, Socket AM3+, 95W, Retail Boxed) MSI 970A Sli Krait Edition USB 3.1 Motherboard SilverStone SST-PP07-IDE6W; PCIE-6pin to PCIE-6pin_250mm, white ilverStone SST-PP07-MBW; ATX 24pin to MB-24pin_300mm, white BenQ VZ2470H 24-Inch Widescreen VA LED Monitor - White
