  1. Hey guys, I recently upgraded my PC except for my graphics card. So I was wondering... in the event I go completely crazy and purchase 2 GTX 1080's and decide to put them in SLI, is a Seasonic X-850 enough for the whole system? (It also has an i7 6700K overclocked to 4,6 GHz). Not saying I will end up doing that but just to have an idea of the upgrade paths this PSU can ultimately allow me to go with.
  2. There's a post in Cases and Power Supplies but I figured I'd do one with TNR formatting. Sources: EVGA and Seasonic have announced new PSUs that are targeted at the budget to mid-range market, finally after years upon years of reign of the now venerable S12II and M12II old Seasonic models. This is all sorts of great, Super Flower is one of the best OEMs out there for PSUs. Of course I won't start giving them to people until reviews pop up. Besides them being fully modular, one amazing thing is their expected price: As for Seasonic, no photos, but a statement from their Press Releases. They don't speak of much details, but the press release suggests that they are trying to enter the market in force as their own brand, with Mainstream models in the Focus series and Entry-level ones in the Core series. Seasonic has yet to disappoint even in the entry-level market if you don't count the XT series from XFX, so I'm confident that these will be competitive. As a LTT user who has spent thousands of words convincing people to dish out the $15 more to get the good entry level PSU instead of the unreliable cost-down unit, I have a dream that one day we'll be able to give people reliable and good PSUs for very little money, so this announcement made me very happy. We hear a lot of talk of $200 units with 0% change in voltage and Unobtanium efficiency, but the people who've $200 aren't the people who need the better PSUs, it's the people who have $350 for their whole computer.
  3. So i desided to downgrade my pc a bit in size and airflow.I have an I7 7700k and have bought a matx mb together with a Cooler master hyper 412S, a bit cooler and max noise is also lower than the famous hyper 212 evo/x (didn't cost me anything to downgrade to since i sold my cpu cooler and mb for no less than what i bought).I like this cooler but i notice som weak click noise from the fan, mabye i have to make the fan curve more even at low rpm, i don't know (have set it in the bios to dc).Any recommendation for a better sounding cooler master fan if that maske any sense (don't care about the fan being dc or pwm) Cooler Master Silencio FP 120 PWM or the 3pin,dc version? (little more cheaper than the pwm)? Atm no problems with noise and don't notice any click noise with my door to my porch open,it's chilly.I want a smaller matx case, i would prefer one that i can use with my Supernova 1000P2 (it's big) i want to use my dvd drive and one with slightly better airflow than a define r5 for 100€ ,110$If it's not possible to find a good matx case that supports 200mm psu i would like your opinion on which is best, most slilent, a Seasonic G660 or corsair RM650X, if size is the same i would have chosen the RM750X since the fan first starts above 300 watt.
  4. This is actually a really good deal that I just passed by while looking at PCPP. The 520w S12ii (AKA the PSU that a lot of people recommend when you're on a budget) is currently only $30 after mail-in rebate on newegg right now! https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16817151094
  5. is the SeaSonic S12II 520 a good PSU? Is the Price really a sale? Link here to Newegg.ca https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151094&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL042417CA&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL042417CA-_-EMC-042417-Index-_-PowerSupplies-_-17151094-L04A&_ga=1.1362549.536905665.1435792795 System spec this would be powering is: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor Motherboard: Asus PRIME B350-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: Team Vulcan 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory Storage: Mushkin ECO3 480GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Western Digital Black 1TB 2.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: Asus Radeon RX 470 4GB STRIX Video Card Case: Deepcool KENDOMEN Red ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: EVGA 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply the EVGA PSU is what I had on hand
  6. This is a simple mod. I replaced my factory Seasonic PSU fan with a Corsair ML120 White LED fan. In my opinion the LED load of the case was a little unbalanced. I decided to try to add an LED fan to replace my existing Seasonic factory unit. First step was to remove the Power Supply and old fan. Oh, you will void your warranty, so don't mess up. Disconnect the fan cable from the header inside the power supply. There are only two cables. A Ground and a +12V. You will be removing some unnecessary cables from the new LED fan. You only need the +12V and Ground wires. The other two are for the PWM signal and a tach wire so your motherboard knows the RPM of the fan. Cut the two wires far enough away from the plug so you give yourself plenty of room to work. Remember to transfer that small piece of plastic to the new fan. Grab either some solder or some wire connectors. I chose to solder my wires but there are always options. If you soldered your wires, remember to add heat shrink or your gonna have a bad time. Reconnect the cable to the PSU and reinstall the cover. Reinstall the PSU, sit back and enjoy the glory of a much quieter and much brighter fan. IMHO, this mod really did a lot to balance out the LEDs in the case. I really don't want to go the RGB route and this was a fun little Saturday project. Thanks for checking out my post. Leave any questions or comments, I'll get to them.
  7. Hello LTT community: I've been experiencing random shutdowns of my PC. It's an i5 6600K (with a CM V8 GTS cooler) , 16GB Corsair Vengeance LED, a MSI GeForce GTX 1080, and two hard drives (a Samsung 850 Evo SSD and a WD Caviar Black) on an Asus Z170 Sabertooth Mark 1 which gets power from a Seasonic M12II 750w PSU. The thing is that I built this PC back in October 2016 and I did not have any problem at all with it. I game on it (Doom, Forza Horizon 3, Planet Coaster, etc) and so far everything was perfect until I installed the Windows 10 Creators Update. When I did so I started experiencing these random shutdowns. It would randomly restart, sometimes when I get into the logon screen, sometimes when I got into the desktop, sometimes after a couple of minutes... I got to run a "sfc /scannow " from recovery command line and it found no problems. I finally ended up rolling back to the previous version of Windows 10 and now its more stable, but It keeps shutting down and restarting randomly rarely and It's so annoying. I've changed three things on my PC recently: 1) The one that made it more evident: The Creator's Update 2) I have a Logitech G19 keyboard. I put a script on it to make it change colors automatically. (No way this could be causing my entire pc to shutdown but... one does not know) 3) I recently changed my monitor to a LG 24MP88HV-S. I don't want to think that my PSU is faulty. I do have my PC connected to a power strip where I do have all the other accesories connected (Monitor, Speakers, Keyboard) Maybe I should try replacing the power cable or even the power strip.
  8. source: https://www.cybenetics.com/index.php via: http://www.kitguru.net/channel/generaltech/matthew-wilson/cybernetics-wants-more-accurate-efficiency-certification-for-psus-and-noise-ratings/ so far, not much is known about this new company .. Cybenetics (not to be confused with Cybernetics !!!) they are a Cyprus based company that offers voluntary PSU efficiency and noise level certifications through which PSUs are promoted as noted, they offer two certification levels: ETA - overall power efficiency based on 4 factors: efficiency power factor 5VSB efficiency vampire power LAMBDA - noise levels --- digging deeper ETA: https://www.cybenetics.com/index.php?option=eta LAMBDA: https://www.cybenetics.com/index.php?option=lambda --- this flew under the radar, but as far as is known only SeaSonic embraced this new certification: https://www.techpowerup.com/231534/seasonic-embraces-new-cybenetics-ratings --- they have a few test certifications, but they don't specify what models were tested: Aerocool: ACP-650FP7 https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_vgH.pdf ACP-750FP7 https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_dqu.pdf ACP-850FP7 https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_kyS.pdf Coolermaster: MPZ-C002-AFBAThttps://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_9Xe.pdf Corsair: AX1500i https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_s5f.pdf HX1000i https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_nzx.pdf HX1200i https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_WKV.pdf HX750i https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_GGT.pdf RM1000i https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_8iM.pdf RM1000x https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_j21.pdf RM550x https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_JoN.pdf RM650i https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_DbN.pdf RM650x https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_HIS.pdf RM750x https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_jil.pdf RM850i https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_9tp.pdf RM850x https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_DW4.pdf TX850M https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_9gT.pdf RM750i https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_gVI.pdf TX550M https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_Qn8.pdf TX650M https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_ZhZ.pdf Enermax: EPF500AWT https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_oCe.pdf EVGA: 850 GQ https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_Txb.pdf SuperNOVA 1000 G3 https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_Hm6.pdf SuperNOVA 850 G3 https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_HH4.pdf FSP: SDA600 https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_mGf.pdf Riotoro: PR-GPD0850-SM https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_BhK.pdf SeaSonic: SSR-650TD https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_ZfJ.pdf SSR-750TD https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_xGy.pdf SSR-850TD https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_B7p.pdf SSR-1000GD https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_zU5.pdf SSR-1200GD https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_vkP.pdf SSR-650GD https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_fXt.pdf SSR-750GD https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_emw.pdf SSR-850GD https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_QGN.pdf Siverstone: SX800-LTI https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_13A.pdf NJ520 https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_6nv.pdf ST75F-PT https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_r5f.pdf SX700-LPT https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_u1Q.pdf SuperFlower: SF-750F14EG https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_UFp.pdf ThermalTake: TPG-0750F-R https://www.cybenetics.com/d/cybenetics_u4m.pdf
  9. SeaSonic M12II 520W fully modular vs SeaSonic S12II 620W non-modular the 520W one is about a US$5 bump in price. However, i am looking to make my build really nice looking and i am not going to be overclocking that much so i was thinking to get the 520W. also, what is the difference in the m12II and S12II versions? 10. 1) Which one is better ? 2) Better Warranty? I will be running Ryzen 1800x & 1070 Amp Extreme.
  11. Is This power supply good? It is in the third tier, so I'd it safe to use? Can I buy This instead, will it be a good idea?
  12. Good day everyone! I bought a Seasonic M12II 620W Evo 80+ Bronze Fully Modular PSU together with the other parts last week. I've noticed that sometimes (twice already) it makes a short (1-2 seconds) crackling/buzzing sound when I toggled on/off the psu switch. PC boots and loads windows 10 normally and does not produce any weird/annoying sounds while running. Haven't tried to stress test the whole unit yet and check if the crackling/buzzing sound will occur for a long period. I've read posts saying that it's coming from a relay in the psu and its normal. Others say it's coil whine or a symptom of a faulty psu. The sound just occurs when toggling the psu switch. PSU directly plugged into wall outlet but Im planning to buy an ups/avr this coming Saturday. Is it really normal? Thank you! 13. Hello! Kind've in an odd position where I own two 80+ Gold Rated power supplies. Currently deciding which to stick in the secondary rig I'm selling. The models are a EVGA 650 GQ 210( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438059) and an older Seasonic X-650 ( http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=PS-SS650KM&c=CJ# ). Normally I'd stick the Seasonic in because it's fully modular, but I have some concerns in doing so. This is actually an RMA, the older one ended up frying itself and the mobo when it was in an OC'd 8150 rig (the CPU power delivery cord melted on both ends). It seemed like the wiring couldn't hold out after a few years of use? The replacement unit has been tested in the same system and is working swimmingly. So kinda at a crossroads. Is one clearly better than the other? Was the Seasonic frying out the CPU cable a freak accident? (The lovely Seasonic RMA department also provided fresh wires to use). Is the EVGA a safe option? This would end up powering a 6600k /1070 build (with a later upgrade to a 1080 ti next year). Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
  14. Greetings! This is the start of my new project with the name of Monore. This project is going to be based in the Jonsbo UMX3 case and the whole build will circle around its clean & sleek look. I would like to start with a huge thank you to my sponsors for this project. Ocaholic Seasonic Jonsbo Gigabyte Noctua The Components: MOBO: Gigabyte Z170M-D3H CPU: Intel i7 6700k GPU: GTX 980Ti RAM: Kingston 4x4GB DDR4 SSD: TBA PSU: Seasonic Snow Silent 1050W CASE: Jonsbo UMX3 FANS: Noctua COOLING: Bitspower & Watercool The Project: This build is going to consist of various modifications, although some of them may not be declared at this time, this PC is going to stand in as my editing/main computer, therefore it will be equipped with high-end hardware and a full watercooling loop to keep the temperatures low. The case bottom compartment is going to be remodelled to house a 240mm radiator, a vented shroud is going to cover this part to keep the case as simplistic as possible. As I might run into trouble with the PSU mounting method with my ambitions for the case, this will most likely be altered too. Numerous small covers and shrouds are going to be created around the build to soften the esthetics of the build, as I want it to be elegant and simplistic. The colortheme for this build is going to be a bit interesting. I've chosen to go for a full black build with accents of beige (As in Noctua's fan frames). The PSU from Seasonic will be getting sleeved in beige and black aswell to fit the build even further. My plans are to paint and modifiy the outsides of the PSU to get rid of the white panels. As I stated earlier, many of the modifcations are not 100% decided at this time as a lot of ideas evolve as the build is being created. That's all for my introduction, here are a few pictures of the base components of this build! That is all for this introduction, next week will be packed with a more ellaborate view of the case and hopefully a few other components. See you then! -August Lindgren
  15. So I'm going to be buying two vega's and putting them under water, my psu is pretty kick ass and can handle it...but I remember reading in the manual that I shouldn't use the PCI-e cords with 2 plugs on them if the card consumes more than 250w and I should use two separate wires. but two of my cords are normal, and the other two have 8 extra pins....is it still safe to just use the one wire to get rid of clutter? or should I just suck it up and stop bitching? Normally I would just use the one wire, but liquid vega consumes a lot of power. PSU for reference https://seasonic.com/product/x-1250/ I guess a better question would be...how much power can a single cable have going through it without issues? I already know that 1 8 pin supports 150w and that my psu is sharing the same rail for almost everything....so I shouldn't be worrying about anything. is it ok to have 300w going through one cable? or should I divide it.
  16. Hey there! Im currently in market for a new PSU. It should be quiet and not cost too much. I already read that Seasonic PSUs are pretty good but i dont know if they are silent. Neither with the EVGA one. So these are the ones that i found that could be right for me (They need at least 550W and have to be silent): https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/seasonic-m12ii-620-evo-620w-pc-netzteil-2374820?tagIds=76-524 https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/evga-bq-650w-pc-netzteil-6135222 https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/be-quiet-pure-power-10-cm-600w-pc-netzteil-6149769?tagIds=76-524 The BeQuiet one is a bit expenive for me, but if you guys say its worth it over the other two then well thats how it is Or would you choose another one? Im happy about every recommendation I dont currently need more than 450W but i want to use the PSU for a longer periode of time so yeah. Thanks for your help.
  17. My config is Intel g4560, zotac gtx1050ti, msi b250 pro vdh,8gbx1 corsair ddr4 ram, 2 hdd and a dwd rw drive. So my old psu(corsair vs450) is giving me random restarts and i need a new psu and these two 1.Seasonic S12II 430 2.Antec vp550p are the only options i got (budget and delivery issues) or the vp450p which is cheaper than both but im guessing it will be same as a corsair vs450 so not considering it. I know that seasonic S12II series psu as listed as tier3 and are better than tier 5 antec vp but my concern is that is it enough to power my system without any issues and also the model year listed on amazon is 2009, is it ok to buy such an old model? Please advise me on this and Thanks in advance
  18. Im on a budget and i plan to get a ryzen 5 and a 1060/|1070 in the future. i have now a fx6300 and a 1050ti. I need a new PSU because my old Thermaltake 650w smart die. In my country i have these options: CX550m Corsair Evga 600B Seasonic S12II 520W I found over the web many reviews of these psu and some of them said that are excellent products but some other people said that are shit. i dont know what to do. pd:sorry if my english is wrong

  20. Hello! I'm not 100% sure what PSU I should get and I was wondering if I could get some help. Here are the PSU's that I have found so far: Be Quiet!: https://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/500-Watt-be-quiet--Pure-Power-10-CM-Modular-80--Silver_1138272.html - Tier 3 XFX: https://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/550-Watt-XFX-TS-Series-Non-Modular-80--Gold_949421.html - Tier 3 (maybe?) (not that sure about this one after reading some of the comments on Mindfactory) Seasonic: https://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/520-Watt-Seasonic-M12II-520-Evo-Modular-80--Bronze_946528.html - Tier 4 (maybe?) I was originally about to get get this PSU, but now I'm looking at other options too EVGA: https://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/600-Watt-EVGA-BQ-Modular-80--Bronze_1144616.html - Tier 4 I would at least want a 520w PSU, because I always like to get little bit over the needed wattage. I found all these PSU's from this great post: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/631048-psu-tier-list-updated/ I would like a PSU that costs around 50 to 60 € And now to the build: Note that it isn't fully completed. This build is kinda like my little project (not going to be my main PC, since I already have one), and I haven't fully decided what parts I'm going to get in the future. I want to be able to change the color theme of the PC, so I'm going with neutral colored/RGB parts. I'm also going more for the looks than performance with this build ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Motherboard: MSI B350 GAMING PRO CARBON AMD B350 or Asus ROG Strix B350-F Gaming. I have read that overclocking isn't that good on the Asus B350-F. Case: Phanteks Eclipse P300 or Fractal Design Meshify C PSU: ??? The max price that I can spend on all these parts above is 260 € ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For CPU I will most likely go with the R5 1600. Haven't decided on the GPU yet, but something neutral colored. Thank you for any help!
  21. Hi, I have a Seasonic M12II-750 EVO, but compared to the rest of my system, this seems to be making a lot of noise and I was wondering is there a way to reduce that? It is currently mounted with the fan pointing downwards. Is is possible that it will make less noise if it is upwards for some reason? Also I have seen this video where the guy simply removes the fan grill - is this worth doing? P.S. Sure, I could have tried these options before asking, but because I am lazy and if any of you have already tried this, please let me know of the results or any other ideas/tricks that you know of
  22. I have Seasonic S12 II 520 PSU, it is bronze rated, and high tier PSU, but i dont know if it can handle r5 1600 and gtx 1080?
  23. Hey guys, I Was wondering if anyone new any better than I do. Would it be a bad idea to put a fanless Seasonic PSU into a case with a PSU basement, I'm not too sure if it will overheat or cause permanent damage to the unit. Power supply in question: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/seasonic-520w-fanless-80-plus-platinum-modular-power-supply-ca-035-ss.html
  24. Hello everyone. I am currently building my first custom PC. I am very excited to get started and I have half the parts on the way (shipped or shipping soon) already; but now I am curious as to if I chose a good power supply or not. So I figured I'd ask for input from y'all before ordering the power supply, as I know that a bad power supply has potential to destroy everything else in the system. Here is my planned build: Notice: I do not have RAM listed yet because I am still price-comparing between websites. I am thinking 2x4GB or 1x8GB and adding another 8GB in the future. So now to my main question. I want a Fully-Modular Power Supply, I want it to work for my build, and I want to be able to Overclock in the future. Did I choose a good power supply? Should I pick something else? is 620W enough? If this is a bad power supply, what are your suggestions? I'd like to stay under $60. Thanks so much and have a great day!
  25. Hello, I recently bought a gtx 1080 ti strix and Im getting crazy coil whine on some applications; -on games with very high fps 500+ ( I know that is fixable and doesnt bother me, i limit the fps to 300 and you cant hear it) -running Folding at home but only on certain "jobs". It doesnt seem to matter about the power draw at all since one job could be using around 100% power limit and be wisper quiet and another 80% and be loud and another 80& aswell and be quiet Im pretty sure its the psu, since it isnt a very high quality one at all ( LC Power 650w 2.3) and I had some coil whine with my previus gpu ( 970), but not nearly as much. I can also hear the same whine coming from the PSU as it is coming from the GPU, but just a little quieter on the PSU. I was looking at some reviews and found this seasonic one have some incredible ripple performance and generaly a very well build psu, judging from JonnyGURU . I can get it for around 110 eur. I want something high quality that will last for a long time and this one has 10years of warranty. Would this be a good choice? Maybe another better choice? Thank you for your anwsers and have a nice day
