I'm planning to buy a new PSU for my gaming system. Which PSU should I get? The PSU calculators recommends me about 400-450W. Should I get 650W or higher? I'm thinking Seasonic FOCUS PX-750 will work well. Any suggestions? Hi. Does anyone know the difference between these two PSUs?: - seasonic snow silent 550w (gold) - seasonic focus PX 550 (platinum) I know about efficiency differences, but I am not sure which one is better. The snow silent one is highest (?) Prime line and focus PX is not (?). Snow silent was advertised as "silent" psu because of hybrid cooling mode, but focus PX also has that feature. Looking at the specs, focus PX would be better because it's the same psu but with platinum rating. But it's not white. That's all. Am I right? Thank you.

Hello everybody, Recentrly i've upgraded my cpu to a new one and found that some psu cables are slightly scratched (I have a Seasonic Focus GX 650w) due to some parts of the case and due to some connectors scratching other cables while doing cable management. I don't know much about cables, but are they supposed to lightly scratched without problems later on? Should I worry about the scratches on the power cables? I'm planning on upgrading pc case later on so more minor scratches on my psu cables are kind of expected. Here are some photos:

I recently did a platform upgrade on my system. There's a previous post regarding about it of which Intel CPU I should buy. Here's the current, upgraded specifications: Intel Core i9-10850K Gigabyte Z590 Vision D Coolermaster Hyper 212X Crucial Ballistix 2x16GB (3.6GHz CL16) Samsung 980 1 TB SSD M.2 NVME Toshiba 3x3TB HDD Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Founder's Edition (dGPU), Intel iGPU is enabled via UEFI, in order to use QS, but all monitors are plugged to GTX 1070. Seasonic Focus GX-750W NZXT Source 530 (a Phantom 530 chassis with a more 'pedestrian' exterior) 1x200mm intake and 3x140mm outake ASUS VK228H (main) and Acer H226HQL Internal Intel M.2 Wifi+Bluetooth 5.0 Internal card reader 3.0 Blu-ray Writer Windows 10 Pro The original specification is on the previous post. While everything works without any issues, I am a little bit bothered by the Power On, you can check a video down below: Is this a Seasonic feature or the Gigabyte UEFI settings regarding Power Loading? F.A.Q. Yes, I've used the included modular and power cable. The older system had no issue. No, I have yet to update the UEFI, and there's no reason to because I don't own an 11th gen CPU, the latest F5 added adaptive boost and 5GHz RAM speed support, and it's using the original F4. P.S.: Newer generation of hardware are pretty scary after Kaby Lake. I had no issue with building a KL system, albeit from the nerve wrecking memory training. This has a Gigabyte motherboard and a Coolermaster PSU. Coffee Lake 9th generation was the first generation to feature i7 which unable to use a single CPU 8-pin. Also, multiple system issues such as RAM instability despite updating its UEFI. This has a MSI motherboard, also Coolermaster PSU, but was eventually replaced with Seasonic Focus FX-850. With those two builds in 2016 and 2018, not own by me, I used those experience to upgrade and I was fully certain that I didn't need to POST check it.

My problem as shown in the picture and diagram below is that my Seasonic TX 750's CPU cables don't line up with my Gigabyte X570 AORUS ULTRA CPU power input the two power supply cables look as below when o's represent square pins and and u's represent the more rounded at the bottom square shape: u u | o u u u | u o (x2) the motherboard slots look like this: o u | u o o u u o | o u u o (first part is 4 pin the second is 8) I can fit the right half of the 8 pin and the 4 pin with the two right halves of the wires but not all of the 8 pin. Would either only plugging in half of the 8 pin or half and the 4 pin work? Thanks in advance!

Would you guys know if the Focus GX-750 is adequate for my RTX 3070 Ti? I got three random shutdowns two days ago (Sept 18) while stress testing, and I don't know if it's the power supply. So far I haven't had any shutdowns since then My return window closes on Sept 23. I read in the PSU tier list at the start of this thread that this make and model was free of the RTX 3000 series shutdowns. Manufacturing date was Oct 2020. Any advice? Should I return this and buy an RM850x (2021)? Update: I'm also getting random shutdowns on a Corsair RM1000x.

How much heat can PSU tolerate? My ambient is 38C While Gaming at 144Fps in Apex Legends Gpu- 69C ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) 1660auper Cpu- 58C with AIO Ryzen 3500 Vrm- 64.5C Asrock X570 PG4 Chipset- 64.5C x570 Game Drive (SSD)- 40-48C Bx500 PSU exhaust is moderately warm to touch. Maybe around 50C. Can keep the hand on it for a prolonged time without any discomfort. My PSU is rated for 50C. What does this rating mean? Is this the max tolerable load of PSU? Or is this the temp beyond which PSU efficiency and accuracy will dip. How much temperature can a PSU actually tolerate? PSU model: Antec EAG 750W, System total load 300ish Watts, PSU is a rebranded Seasonic One Focus GM Gold.

Just completed my new build yesterday and it boots up fine on my 20A circuit, but trips my 15 everytime. All I have on the 15A is one other light. I will try another 15A later today but in the mean time wanted to see if the Seasonic S12III 550 is good enough for my build. I know it's lower end but just wanted some input. On the 20A i was able to use it fine for hours, but I just want to make sure it's a power supply or breaker issue before going further. Hi there! I was wondering if anyone could help as I want to know if my psu would be able to take a rtx 3060ti. It is a seasonic 550w S12III and is brand new I got it the day before the 3060ti was announced. I would just like to know if the psu could run the 3060ti as it has a 6+2 pin and another one daisy chained to it. My system also contains a r5 2600x at stock and 16gb of ddr4 hyperfury memory with a dash of rgb. Thank you for any replies

Hi I don't know if this question might sound dumb but I can't decide between the two PSUs. I checked the tier list and they are on the same tier however I'm not familiar with performance of the two. I can't see much comparison online either. In my country, the AX860 is a lot cheaper than the Prime Ultra, so I want to know if it's worth paying extra for the Prime Ultra. Can anyone enlighten me with this? Thank you so much.

Hi, I currently have i7 9700k @5.0ghz and 2080s and im getting rtx 3080 AIB, can my seasonic handle it ?I cant buy new PSU now, and the card is on the way. I ready that some issues from the rtx 3080 is due power issues or cables? thanks,

Hi all, I want to start some experiments with TEC- modules. I bought some pci-e 6-pin extension cables to power the 2 TEC's and now I want to ask if it is safe to solder the 3 (2) 12v cables and the 2 ground cables with the sense pin together. I heard that the sense pin is just another ground connection, but I don't want to blow up my psu. It's a seasonic prime 1000W.

I've been seeing a lot of comments in the internet about it being too old for use in modern computers, and that it is a bad psu due to being group regulated and due to not having all the protections expected from a psu. That kinda makes me worried about the damage it can cause to my computer, especially since I want my computer components to last a very long time. I don't live in the US, I live in Uruguay, where the prices are very expensive for good quality psus (good brands like Seasonic, EVGA, Corsair), and the only good ones that are available are 750w+. I plan on moving to another country in the future (I am not sure but that's my goal), and modifying my desktop PC may not be a good investment (aside from updating my gpu and adding ssds). My other components are: Asus Prime Z370-a Intel I5 8400 Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000mhz CAS 15 16gb (2x8). XMP enabled Cryorig H7 Asus ROG Strix 1060 6gb OC Samsung 970 Evo 500gb M.2 Samsung 860 Evo 250gb WD Blue 1tb 7200rpm Fractal Design Meshify C Dark TG x2 Fractal Design Venturi HF-14 140mm fans x1 Fractal Design Dynamic GP-12 120 fan (came with the Meshify C) I've been having this psu for over 3 years, and never had a problem, but I'm kinda afraid that someday something might happen to my pc because of choosing this psu, but at the same time a don't want to spend around 175 dollars for a psu (Seasonic GM-850), in my opinion, it would be a waste due to my PC not even consuming 500w and If I move to another country I don't know if I would be able to move my pc there (aside from my gpu). I'm kinda paranoid with hardware since I want to take very good care of it, but at the same time I don't want to spend too much on potentially unnecessary stuff to protect it, because well, I'm very limited economically and because my country is so darn expensive. What do you guys think?

Hi, I have already buy the Lian Li LANCOOL II MESH RGB case and Seasonic Connect 750w (SSR-750FA) power supply. The problem is that I asked the Lian Li customer support, how much clearance are there between motherboard tray and back panel window, because I want to see if fits the Extend Connect Module of the Power supply. The seasonic recommends 21mm(+7mm magnets)=28mm clearance, but the Lian Li answers me that I will have only 19mm clearance. So I thought if I can put the Extend Connect Module in the front site, exactly next to the motherboard, but I have the question, If I will put it next to the motherboard, It will cause problems to the other components by the electricity or by the magnet power? Thanks

My PSU is making this weird static noise that sounds like static coming from a radio. It doesn't happen everyday but it normally happens after I play or one time it happened upon plugging it in. I thought it was coil whine because disappeared when I activated hybrid mode. But then after after a few days it's back. Recently it was fine again. I'm suspecting it might be a capacitor discharging because one time it was still there when I unplugged it. My PSU is a Seasonic Prime Titanium 850w. Should I RMA this unit? :(

I don't get it... I used the tester... turned it on, first nothing happened for a few seconds then the fan started to spin, then it sounded like a fuse died, and it's now not working anymore... there wasn't any sparks or anything either... it just... died, I guess? Is this normal for defective PSUs? I thought they'd just not turn on if they're broken, but this one did turn on, for a whole second...

a) so what happened to Seasonic's 1600w psu the one they showcased last year? b) Is seasonic gonna launch 1600w psu? c) is corsair's AX 1600i made by seasonic? I currently own a SeaSonic M12II 620 W 80+ Bronze PSU. It shipped with really ugly and bulky cables, which is why i want to swap them out for CableMod SE-Series ModFlex Basic Cables. However, after hearing some talk about the risk of using PSU Cables that are not from the manufacturer of the PSU, i wasnt sure anymore, so i checked the Compatability List on Cablemod.com. I doesn't list the M12II. Is it just not listed or incompatible? Thank you for any answers.

Hello, My new PSU is making a kind of zzzzz sound. Sounds like electrical noise, changed the cable twice. I tested it on two outlets both exhibit similar sound. But the thing is when I tested it on my UPS battery power there was no sound. PSU is a Antec EAG Pro 750 Gold which is a rebranded Seasonic Focus GM Gold. So what can the issue be? Coil or Capacitor whine (it doesnt sound exactly like a whine)?
