So it all started just yesterday when I tried to open MSI afterburner, it just wouldn't open. I went to open Google chrome and it just wouldn't open either, so I uninstalled that, internet explorer opened and I tried to download the Google chrome installer, but that didn't install (or even open). Most programs aren't opening, I've restarted many times, and it hasn't fixed it, I've used sfc /scannow and no problems were found. So please help! Would be greatly appreciated. Edit: also when I open the start menu (windows 10) and start typing to search about half the time it just sits there loading and not displaying anything and I have to restart to fix it.

So I recently upgraded my computer with a new motherboard, processor and RAM. I have a main SSD as my boot drive and then another 2TB hard drive that is used for mass storage. I already had programs and applications installed on my mass storage hard drive however when I attempt to search using windows for the programs that are installed on this hard drive they are no where to be seen. On further investigation I found that the programs would only appear if I installed them after installing windows 10. I have tried indexing all of my drives and rebuilding the index but to no avail. I know that the search can look through my drive as it is able to find the folders that hold the executable files for the program but not give me the executable itself. I don't know if there is another form of indexing that I need to run in order to have these old programs appear as they don't show up on the programs and features section of control panel. Is there a way that I can make these programs appear? I am running windows 10 64bit and it was a fresh install on my C drive, thank you

I've posted on Reddit but I've had no luck there, so I'm making my first ever post to the LTT forums after being a long time lurker hoping that somebody can help me sort this problem out! Here's my issue -> http://i.imgur.com/zpHsqcY.jpg I’ve already tried the stuff shown here http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-fix-windows-10-search-issues-by-rebuilding-index/, have also tried this http://www.howtogeek.com/222532/how-to-repair-corrupted-windows-system-files-with-the-sfc-and-dism-commands/) and some of the things mentioned in this thread on Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3mergr/cant_find_start_menu_items_via_search_anymore_any/. I've also tried going to a restore point, my earliest one which was about a week old, and that didn't fix things. It's weird because yesterday morning it was working fine, then in the afternoon it wasn't. I didn't install anything new in that time so I'm just windering what is actually going on. Is there a fix out there? Because it’s beginning to get a bit annoying. Microsoft Support were also no help, they went through the tings I tried and then said that it would require their £95 premium support to which I was like, no. Thanks for reading, hope somebody out there can help me! If not I think I'll just do a fresh install because it's kinda bugging me.

Is there a way to view an entire thread on one page? I'm attempting to make a searchable document for the Steam VR performance test, and its proving difficult to seach through every page for the seemingly 6 people out of the near 10,000 who used a certain CPU or whatever. Or is there a searchable doc on the results from the SteamVR test somewhere that I missed?

Just recently my windows 10 search had just stopped working, I hit the windows key and type to search but all it brings up is a blank page. (Ignore my second display, I had to use the print screen key)

@LinusTech @Slick Chrometana is an extension I use for Chrome that redirects all web searching from Windows 10 and Cortana to Google search instead of the Abomination knows as Bing. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chrometana-redirect-bing/kaicbfmipfpfpjmlbpejaoaflfdnabnc?hl=en 50:10 Linus uses Windows 10 search and is brought to Micro$haft's search engine Abomination.

Heyo dudes! This video's gaining like 300k views a month, and it's driving me insane. Obviously any/all of his subscribers came from this one huge video. So this kid is getting close to a million views on a seemingly boring video. It's driving me crazy trying to figure out why it has so many views. I keep thinking it's bots or he's buying views, but YouTube is too advanced to let that kind of stuff happen now. Try to figure it out, you YouTube experts and SEO geniuses. Thanks in advance, -Jordan HERE'S A LINK TO THE VIDEO:

First of all all those games in the bundle have Uplay DRM, I mean to say they're activated on Uplay and will be launched and played through the Uplay client only. https://www.humblebundle.com/ Why is it that I can't find the original Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six 3 listed in the Uplay Store after doing searches? If these games are available through Uplay, why doesn't their store search bring them up? Wouldn't that mean the only way to get these games through Uplay is through this bundle in the first place? I found the Original Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six 3 listed on Steam, but not the original Rainbow Six. I'm confused to why you can't even find these classic games through the Uplay store, yet they're in the bundle. You look up Rainbow Six 3 or Ghost Recon, then the newer games and addons crowd the search results, you look through to see if it's buried, then you can't find it.

I currently have a database full of data, with tags written to them. But just to find something. I need go search down the whole database which contains over 30000 links. So, is there a way to create a simple search engine for my database. And this might sound stupid but my database is just a MySQL file with links arranged like this: INSERT INTO `searchengine` (`id`, `title`, `description`, `url`, `keywords`) VALUES My database is connected to my server and I would like to be able to access it using the web. So the searchengine has to be on the web.

Problem: My google search seems to be limited to only searching for "internet" and "images". I don't get the other options. The problem occurs when using both google.com and the omnibox with google as search engine. The same thing happens when using google in internet explorer, but doesn't seem to happen when using Firefox. I've attached a picture showing what it looks like. Things i've tried so far: I've tried to clear browserdata in google chrome. I've reset settings in google chrome. I've fully scanned my computer. Edit: So i've been suggested to do the following: Use google.com instead Disable Extension However the problem still occurs

The thing where you put your mouse into the corner and drag it down to open search. How do I change what monitor it's on? It used to work on my main monitor but now it only works on my secondary monitor. My main monitor is set to my main display, so I don't know why it's not working. The only thing I can think of is that my second monitor is "1" when I click identify, but I don't know how to change that. Please help.

Hello. So I upgraded to windows 10 yesterday and everything was going well, I had no issues with drivers or anything else. But today I noticed that apps don't show when I search for them. If I type in groove or edge I get nothing even though it was working perfectly fine yesterday. I started to notice after I installed Office and VS 2015 and couldn't find them by searching. I think this is an indexing problem, since all my searches also show the "We're getting search ready" banner at the top of the search area. Is anyone else experiencing this? If so have is there a fix? Thank you so much in advance

Hi guys, I've got a pretty specific problem. After I upgraded to Windows 10 I dialed in my settings like I want them to be, this includes also removing some folders from Indexing for the search (btw, I did this on all my pcs and notebooks, and only on my main system this problem occured). The first day worked fine, but since after when I search for options from the settings-app they won't show up, neither in start menu search nor in settings-app search itself, only settings from the old control panel appear. I can acces those options in the settings-app, but I dont want to have to click through those menus all the time, I just want to search for what I need and get to open it. What I tried thus far: - sfc /scannow - troubleshooting for Indexing, which comes up with incorrect permissions for the search folder what I cant seem to be able to fix - rebuilding index - reregistering the settings-app - creating a new user in hope for recreating the search It is almost impossible to search for this specific problem, so I hope someone can help me with this one, since the last thing I want to do now, is reinstalling windows because of a faulty index.

When doing a search in Windows 10, it only searches programs and files, but NOT control panel settings, settings or Store apps. For example, I can search "Control Panel" and it will show the Control Panel, but if I search "Mouse" or "Display" it returns only web search results. If I search within the new Settings app, it returns NO RESULTS whatsoever, no matter what I search. I WAS able to search for these things when I fist upgraded to Windows 10, although it has stopped recently for some reason. Any ideas why, or how I can fix this? So far I have restarted Windows, restared the Search service and tried fiddling with Indexing options (I traditionally have Indexing turned off, as I have only SSDs). I can't turn on Cortana, because Australia, so only standard search. Also, I've heard other people saying they can search for Windows Store apps with the Windows Search bar/button? I've never been able to do this. Thanks for any help guys

Hello, I was wondering if there is a keyboard combination to use the "search all" function of the charmsbar in Windows 8(.1). I only know that pressing "WinKey+S" uses the search bar, however only "search files" is selected. Thanks

I think we can agree we have all seen the memes about how Bing sucks and Goodle is like the GabeN of Search engines, but what one do you use and why? I personally was a Yahoo guy, then a Google guy, and now I use Bing about as much as I use Google. http://strawpoll.me/3478576 When You open the Front page of each website, you are greeted with two very different environments. Bing shows a sometimes interesting picture and displays news below with some quick links on top to various Microsoft services such as Office Online. Google provides you with a nice clean front page with quick links to Google services above. When Searching for celebrities, both Google and Bing provide decent search results; both provide easy access to play songs, view Wikipedia, and access their social media pages among other things. When searching for Tech products both search engines provide me with a link to the manufacturers web page first and foremost. Bing however provides additional results for shopping on the side while Google leaves a blank space. When searching for weather both show a nice forecast display, Google however provides more in depth results and will display information when i search for local weather. Bing on the other hand will come up empty unless I use Cortana. Either way Google provides more information. Sports seems to be the biggest hit or miss, Google seems to provide more info on Schedule but Bing seems better about previous game scores. Overall what is your opinion; has Bing improved to the point where it is a viable replacement to Google? Or is Google still the supreme overlord of Search on the internet? http://strawpoll.me/3478576

First off i apologize but i cannot seem to find this forums search function post sleep medicine and this topic likely exists somewhere. Anyway, I'm looking for a (as much as possible) cost effective option for a mechanical keyboard. I'm mainly typing and not gaming at all. My only real requirements are usb and that i would prefer a 10 key but it's not 100 necessary. I don't need macros, i don't need LED's and i don't need rapid fire this or that. I'm just trying to get a more enjoyable typing experience now that my outline for my book is done. Thank you.

This Lollipop is real tasty.. An updated version of the Search app is rolling out today for Android devices,Starting today, users will see an updated layout Beyond the new Material Design look in the app, users can search inside of on-device applications, For example: in Tumblr. Simply say “Ok Google, look for this stuff in Tumblr.” & Google will open the app, then get to searching. Like this.. if you own a Nexus 6, Nexus 9 or Samsung Galaxy Note4,you can now set up your phone so you can say “Ok Google” to ask a question even if your screen is off and your phone is unplugged Beyond better voice searches, the app can now get a better handle on your less fixated plans as well it will sift through your Gmail account and ask whether or not you really want to have arange a meet with someone next Tuesday or not or you do? Confirming your choice will add the event to your Google Calendar, Pretty neat feature imo Also the same layout will be applied when asking for locations to other businesses as shown below Although the features shown above are working, Not all apps are able to get accessed through Google search function..the app developers still needs to integrate this feature on to their apps,, Tested apps are tumbler,TuneIn,TripAdvisor,YouTube etc.. & Finally users will have access to a “flip a coin” feature. Just say, “Ok Google, flip a coin.” This will help you decide which one of two things you will be doing. Give it a shot while you're at it Really useful features, do definitely Post your Thoughts & comments or even rants down below...
