Anyone else annoyed by the ordering of results in the Start Menu search? For example, a search for "Downloads" yields: "Automatic file downloads settings", followed by the Downloads folder, a search for "Documents" yields "Documents library privacy settings", followed by the Documents folder, and a search for "Pictures" yields: "Photos", followed by the Pictures folder. This is just dumb. The folders I am trying to open should be the first on the list. Anyone know a fix?

Hello, I've been terminating all wires on my desk, and am now looking into switching to a wireless mouse. I've been using a Zowie ZA12 for years now, and i love it to death. but the wire is just annoying, and i don't game competetive enough to really care about the latency vs. a wireless model. what i'm looking for: -sleek, no frills design -two side buttons, no more. -the less RGB the better -palm grip design so, can anyone point me in the right direction?

I was on the floatplane website (i signed up through there the other day) and I wanted to search for a video. So I clicked on the search icon and nothing happened?? There were no hyperlink properties to it upon further inspection and ` inspect element ` shows nothing helpful to me either. Am I doing anything wrong or is this an actual issue? (tested on chrome desktop and mobile)

So at first, I wanted to go with an S340Elite from NZXT, but a guy told me it wouldn't handle the Heat from the 1080ti and a Coffe Lake CPU, so I decided to go with an H700i. But because of that smart device that makes the case 200$, and doesn't (apparently) even support Aer Fans AND RGB Strips together, that was not good too. So now I don't know what I should use. I want something minimalistic, maybe some RGB, but can't find any cases. Any recommendations, or should I just buy another NZXT Hue+? H700i: (something like that maybe)

Hello everybody I have a big problem with my self-signed SSL certificate coming with my Synology NAS. All my Wenbbrowser are blocking my domain for some reason, so I have a hard time reaching the domain, especially from mobile devices and apps. I would therefore like to create a new certificate and look for a suitable provider. Can you recommend someone to me?

For some reason, whenever I try to access certain files it keeps asking me to confirm admin permission or something, even though it is files one normally should be able to access. And an even bigger problem is, the windows search is not working. At all. It doesn't find a single file. I recently did a clean install of my system. Before, I had my W7 on a HDD but now I installed W10 on an SSD. When I first made my account on W10, I believe everything was working fine. Then I decided to format the HDD with W7 on it to use as storage. It works just fine.. however, after I did that, I've been running into these really weird issues with permissions mentioned above, an I'm not sure whether it is because of what I did. Anyway, I did the sfc scan, it found a problem but could not fix it. I also did the Search and Indexing troubleshooting and got "Incorrect permissions on Windows Search directories" Could not fix issue. I tried to do an index rebuild, but nothing, and Microsoft told me to run DISM... but no luck there either. So I went to my folders and took at look at the permissions for a random folder... and indeed: Neither system or admins have permission to the program files folder. And even worse is, I tried to change the permissions but everything was grayed out and it wouldn't let me.. even though I am admin. And even if it would let me change the permissions... This isn't just one folder we're talking about. It's like, everything. All files on both C (system) and D (storage) drive. What do I do?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a specific video from LTT channel that, if memory serves me right, went up within last 6-7 months. It was one of those "Linus going places" vlog, where he went to a Lab, I think in WA (not sure), that specializes in trying different hardware with different software and writing blogs about what works best. For example, they try Premiere with different CPU's (AMD vs Intel), and then write those recommendations. I'm not sure, but I think that place also assembles custom rigs for sale. If anybody knows which video I'm talking about and can help, I would appreciate it a lot ! Thanks!

Hello everybody, I'm Leon and I have an x79 Workstation Computer. And now my Motherboard died, so I tried to dig around old forums and motherboard reviews because I don't want to upgrade. So I found Linus old Video about the Gigabyte GA-X79S-UP5-WIFI and now I want to find one. Can the Community help? Or did anyone have another idea for a motherboard? #ForScience: I using a Xeon Chip and ECC Memory 32GB 8 Slots + two Graphics cards, a GTX 980 and a Quadro 2000 and also a sound card. I'm from Germany and I don't want to pay more than 200€ / 250$ for the Motherboard and shipping if its possible. So has anyone an idea?

Hey Everyone! I am working on a project for a video that was inspired by a tangent on a WAN Show Awhile back. If you can find the episode, I would be super appreciative so I can properly credit the source of the idea. The Basis of the project/discussion: Linus and Luke were pondering how the YouTube Algorithm selects Auto-Play content, and how random that process is or if you can follow a pattern to see where the videos end up after an amount of time. The methodology they outlined in the discussion was along the lines of setting up several Virtual Machines with no search history or YouTube history and start them on the same video. Make sure auto play is turned on and let it sit for awhile, then record the history results into a spreadsheet and look for trends. If you by chance remember when they talked about this and are able to send me the link, that would be amazing! Thanks for the help everyone!

I've always despised the way windows 10 chose to search files to the point where it doesn't even find stuff that is right there on my desktop or downloads. It's sad. I found an open source solution that works wonders and has tons of features and add-ons that extend it way past a search function. It's called Hain. It mimics the spotlight feature from MacOS and is so good. Here is a link to all those wanting to try it. https://github.com/hainproject/hain

Hi, I´m in a laptop that had many many malwares, virus etc. Now that is clean, google address bar wont search like before. I must say that there weren´t any google search engine, I had to add it and I think I did something wrong becouse every time I try to search it just stand and I must wayt for two loading screens and then hit enter again. The thing is that the owner doesn´t want me to uninstall and reinstall google chrome. In the ss is what I wrote in the address bar and how it ends up, that is the point where I must hit enter to search again, it doesn´t cost me doing that but is annoying.

I keep having this problem, that I can't search for anything apart from Windows settings (like control panel, device manager etc). When I look for a file, it doesn't find anything. And only shows 'These results may be incomplete' with a spinning circle next to it. I checked the indexing option, re-indexed and all seems to be fine. Sometimes, it would really be convenient to have the search tool at hand..

For well over a year now I've been stuck with a combination of a 20.5" 900p LG monitor (trash), 22.5" 1050p Samsung monitor (dying), and a 24" 1080p Acer monitor (decent), and have decided that I need more screen real estate, and also need some better quality monitors. I'm looking for the following in the monitor: - IPS (AH-IPS or PLS/IPS are fine) - 25" to 27" for 1440p, or 27" to 32" for 4K - 16:9 aspect ratio (I may consider a 21:9 3440x1440 32" monitor if it's good enough) - Black bezels - Good build quality - Thin bezels (It'll be in the middle of two other monitors, so I don't want giant bezels in the middle of them) - Under $400 USD (Absolute maximum price) - VESA mount support I'd prefer to keep the monitor on the cheaper side of things, though am willing to spend a little more (up to $400) if it's truly worth it. I'm currently considering the following monitors: ASUS PB258Q 1440p AH-IPS 25" display Dell UltraSharp U2515H IPS 25" display ASUS PB278Q PLS/IPS 27" display Suggestions are appreciated!

Can we have a search this thread function? Let's say you're looking at this 900 pages long thread, and you want to find a specific content or all post by a specific member. Just type in what you want to search in the search box that's inside that thread, to give you the results you're looking for.

Im trying to make a real time search box for a list of software items which are loaded with php from a sql database. They are housed in a bootstrap accordion. I found this example of this working with a vanilla <ul> list and works exactly how i want it too however cannot figure out how to make this work for a BS accordion. Bellow is the code example for the <ul> list: JSFiddle <input id="tags" /> <div id="xxx"> <ul id="autocompletes1"> <li><a href="index.html">Acura</a></li> <li><a href="index.html">Audi</a></li> <li><a href="index.html">BMW</a></li> <li><a href="index.html">Cadillac</a></li> <li><a href="index.html">Chrysler</a></li> <li><a href="index.html">Dodge</a></li> <li><a href="index.html">Ferrari</a></li> </ul> </div> $('#tags').on('keyup',function(e){ var tagElems = $('#autocompletes1').children(); $(tagElems).hide(); for(var i = 0; i < tagElems.length; i++){ if(($(tagElems).eq(i).text().toLowerCase()).indexOf($(this).val().toLowerCase()) === 0){ $(tagElems).eq(i).show() } } }); Bellow is the code for the accordion: <div class="panel-group" id="softwareAccord"> <?php $query = mysqli_query($connect, "SELECT * FROM Software ORDER BY OS_ID ASC") or die(mysql_error()); while ($Software = mysqli_fetch_assoc($query)) { ?> <div class="panel panel-default SearchItem" name="<?php echo $Software['ID']; ?>"> <div class="panel-heading"> <h4 class="panel-title"> <a data-toggle="collapse" data-parent="#softwareAccord" href="#collapseSoftware<?php echo $Software['ID']; ?>"> <div style="float:right;"><i class="fa fa-chevron-down"></i></div> <?php $queryOS = mysqli_query($connect, "SELECT * FROM OS WHERE ID = '" . $Software['OS_ID'] . "' ORDER BY ID ASC") or die(mysql_error()); $OS = mysqli_fetch_assoc($queryOS); echo "<div class='row'><div class='col-xs-2'><i class='fa " . $OS['Icon'] . Hello everyone! This is my first post here so sorry if I missed anything. I'll try to be as clear and concise as possible, sorry if this results in a rather unusually long request. I'm a (student) software developer and general computer enthusiast. Over the course of the past month I've been severely annoyed with my 4-year-old laptop... the time has come that I need to switch it out. Broken keyboard, bad trackpad, dysfunctional battery... I can't take it anymore! I will be using this laptop for music production, code, and occasional gaming. I also want it to be light and portable enough so it doesn't feel bulky when I'm moving around. I've been looking everywhere for the past couple weeks now and I think I might have one I like, but before making the final move I would like to know if anyone knows of a better option. My budget is 1200 euros and I live in France. This is quite a bit of money for me right now and I really cannot afford to save up more. I'm planning on buying the Acer V Nitro VN7-592G-700E currently at 1099,99 euros over on Amazon. It comes with a nice 2,6Ghz i7-6700HQ, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, 128GB SSD, 1TB HDD and a GTX 960M chip. The full specs are available on Acer's French website. Here's a basic idea of what I'm looking for (yeah, I know it's quite specific): Ethernet! The amount of ultrabooks without it staggers me... 128GB SSD for boot (going to run dual-boot Arch / Windows) 2,5kg max (I will be carrying it around with me daily) Thin, around 20-25mm i7, preferably Skylake (> 6000 PassMark score) 8GB of RAM, upgradable (not soldered) 15'' screen (no more, no less) GTX 960M or higher dedicated video chip 1TB HDD, preferably 7000RPM USB3.0 ports Battery life is not a huge concern (anything above 4-5 hours of normal use should do) 1080p screen, would priviliege battery over QHD QWERTY keyboard option would be a plus, but living in France this is quite hard to find For my workload, CPU and RAM are absolute top priorities, I cannot do with less. I would rather trade off battery life for performance. I believe I may have found the perfect laptop for my needs, but who knows, a fresh set of eyes is better than none! (Wait, is that even a thing?) Is anyone aware of any other offerings that would allow me to have these kinds of specifications without going over budget? Thanks in advance!
