I'm trying to figure out what cpu to get. I'm buying used and I've found an r9 290 for 200$ cad. I would like to know what cpu would be a good match. I've found some good deals for fx 6300 100$ and fx 8350 with msi 970 mobo 150$. I'm considering an Intel but since recently with games like far cry 4 requiring a quad core I'm not sure about it.

Hi, I overclocked my x99 Sabertooth. I think I forgot to turn off my xmp file (maybe) and so overclock failed. My PC is not booting up to bios or windows. I have tried bios flash back, but the bios flash back button would not light up. Has anyone overclocked on X99 Sabertooth before? How do you reset the mobo? The purchased part are my part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/FpzfXL

Hello there, I was wondering what were the differences between the two motherboards listed above. What is the benefit of having each and which one is better from a gamer's perspective? If there is anyone knowledgeable enough, I would ask for an in-depth explanation and comparation of each board's features and benefits. The boards are: - Asus Maximus VII Hero - Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 Thanks in advance, Stonedfish.

My mobo has red light (right bottom side of mobo) at first. Then it turned to orange when I turn the computer on. The CPU light, memory light, VGA light all flashed for one second. The right bottom LED is still on and there is nothing happening on my screen. It would not boot to BIOs. My Enthoo Pro fans are not spinning, but the fans on 980ti hybrid and mobo fans are working. I am not sure what is the problem. This is my build list. (see "purchased") http://pcpartpicker.com/p/h2zBCJ x99 Sabertooth 5820k Evga 980ti Hybrid EVGA-1000PS (PS: I do not have a mobo speaker)

So I know that little fans are loud and annoying, but if you have an ASUS motherboard with thermal armour those little fans can make quite a difference. They recommend leaving the fan in, especially if you dont have a downward blowing CPU cooler. If you dont mind the noise, leave them on low (to only ramp up under full load) This is what happened when I turned the tiny 50mm fan from 100% (4000rpm) to 50% (2000rpm) (yellow is CPU temp, the rest are temp sensors all over the motherboard) This was under full load while rendering a video, the temps got kinda scary - I would not want to know what it would be like If I had removed the fan completely. Posting this just for future reference

Hello Yesterday i built my new system as follows Sabertooth z97 Mark S i5 4670k kingston HyperX 1866mhz ddr3 white Dual Channel Corsair Rm 750w Evga gtx 970 500GB SSD 2TB hard disk So built the system switched it on and the system would not post had a solid red led on the board checked the manual and this is the DRAM led which indicates there is a issue with the ram, tried the mem ok button still would not post. i then decided to just use one stick of ram in the first slot closest to the cpu again system would not post, then the second slot same problem. get to the third slot away from the cpu the system booted and also with the forth slot, i also did this with some other ram i had about and the same results. Then i inserted the ram as indicated in the manual the system would not post removed the ram from the second slot for the cpu and the system posted. Does this mean that the first two slots on the board closest to the cpu are bad? or am i missing something? Would just like some thoughts or some info if im doing something wrong before i decide to send the board back as faulty. Thanks to any one who takes the time to respond its highly appreciated.

My brother was in need of a new card and I suggested he get a 280x, which he did this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150678&cm_re=280x-_-14-150-678-_-Product Good deal for $220. Problem is when it arrived it couldn't quite fit in his older sabertooth motherboard. The right side of the pci express slot isn't in all the way because of the sata ports and the south bridge interfering with the card. All 4 of his pci expansions slots will not fit either. When powered on with the card pushed in as much as it can be, black screen no signal to the monitor only fans spinning. The card fits fine in my gigabyte z97x-gaming 3 mobo so I temp traded my 970 for his 280x. He can't get the 280x refunded as it's VGA replacement only. Any solutions? I was thinking of getting a pci express extension for him but don't know where the card can be secured. Ideas would be nice ...I miss my 970

So, I just bought an Asus Sabertooth from Newegg on the 4th of Augest which comes with the 'new' usb 3.1 and overall refresh of the board. I really like the look of the Sabertooh motherboards, however, the day after I bought it, I began seeing everyone releasing the new Z170 motherboards with the skylake cpu's not far off in the distance. Apparently, I live under a rock because only now did I realize this. Beside the point, I'm worried because I'm buying the pieces for my new build starting with the motherboard - arguably the most important component for any pc build - and I wanted to know if its worth it for me to refund the motherboard (which I can do), and wait for the Z170 and cpus to settle into the market. I have done my research on skylake/Z170 features and have read people's opinions on it, however, a good majority of people are saying that its not worth to 'upgrade'. However, in my case, I'm not upgrading but starting anew. So should I wait and get the lastest technology/features, or should I just continue onwards with the Z97 chipset? I personally am leaning towards the Z97, but if there is something I'm missing or should consider, please let me know. Also, the cpu I was interested in was the Xeon E3 1231 v3, however I dont think that cpu is compatible with the Z170 chipset. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132507

Sadly I returned my Asrock X99 extreme6 motherboard yesterday...It died for no reason, just don't work anymore, and there's a strange limb and numb feeling everytime I touch it .So I decided to get a new motherboard, and ASUS seems nice~~but I can't decide between sabertooth and deluxe. They all seems nice althouth deluxe is more expensive. My CPU is 5930K and graphics cards are R9 390X CF. So which one should I get ? Thank you very much!

Hey, a couple of weeks ago my computer started to restsart randomly and after checking online i belived it to be my motherboard but after RMA it and getting a new one everything seemed to be okay untill it started to shutdown again and i am completly cluess of what to do please help. It happens randomly whilt on my computer sometimes whilst in games but sometimes when just looking on the internet. There is no error codes and my temps seem ok but it still shutsdown. After shutting down it began to restart but sometimes it cant start for a couple of try and then it boots up like normal. Specs- AMD FXX 8350 ASUS sabertooth 990fx hyper 212 evo MSI R9 280X 16GB Patriot viper ram Corsair AX860I In conclusion my computer restsarts random and there is no clear reason why I have already RMA my motherboard so I highly doubt that being the problem but maybe I am that unlucky. Any help will be greatly appriciated, thanks TheGamerChip

Hi Guys I have had my ASUS Saber tooth Mark 1 for 8 months. I was playing the new GTA V when suddenly the PC turned off. The on off button did not work and so i cycled power, saw the green led on and tried booting up no go. Here is what i tried. 1. Unplugged everything left PSU ram and CPU - No boot green light 2. Took out PSU tested with pin in green and black PSU boots. 3. Grabbed another motherboard plugged PSU in and motherboard boots 4. Got another PSU tested with Asus Mark1 green light on but no boot 5. Tried manual boot on asus mark1 with pins and wire - no boot 6. Got a new motehrboard, added the ram and cpu from mark 1 - all boots. (New PSU & Mobo) So cpu and ram is ok Basically no boot with sabertooth mark 1, only green led near the pcie slots is on when powered. Any help would be much appreciated, i know i have 5 years warranty on this but id rather not be without a motherboard for a month as my retailer will not do me a swap or a refund, only send to asus for repairs. This is the first time i have ever had an asus motherboard do this on me. Note: Heavy OC on the CPU, 4Ghz to 4.5Ghz, watercooled Heavy OC on Ram always red hot at 2333mhz Runs two GTX980s, had 2 GTX680s previously, always cleaned from dust. Nothing ever spilled on it. No other modifications done to it. No damage on the out side except to scratches behind motherboard near the screws, looks like its not near anything important. When putting board in the first time 8 months ago hasn't moved at all since then. Any help would be great

I wanna get an Asus Sabertooth mark1 Mobo with the thermal armour and use a Noctua NH-D15 for the CPU cooler but I want the option to run another R9 290 in crossfire in the future and I've seen in a review that the NH-D15 encroaches on the top Pci slot on some mAtx Mobos and I was wondering if I was gonna have the same problem with a regular Atx board like the Sabertooth?

Where can I find a new or used Asus Z77 Sabertooth motherboard? I know Z77 has been out for a while, but I have an i7 3770 that I don't want to waste. I tried searching it on NCIX, Newegg, and Amazon, and have turned up blank. I live in Canada btw. If any of you guys can link me to it, then it would be greatly appreciated. (And I'll give you a 'like' lol). Thanks

ASUS Maximus Hero, Impact, or Sabertooth?
Adepted K posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Around the $200 dollar price range, ASUS offers quite a bit of different mobos for the 1150 intel socket such as the: ASUS Maximus VI Impact ASUS Maximus VII Hero ASUS Sabertooth Z97 Mark1 However, which one is 'more optimized for gaming' because I'm not really good at picking out motherboards and when I look at each list of features the mobos offer, I get confused really fast. If you want, tell me what you think is the best mobo for gaming even if it isn't the three I listed. I would love the feedback. What features really matter and are useful? My price range is around $250. Cheers -Adepted K- 4 replies

Hi All, Currently i have an old i7 2600, and a p8p67 motherboard. As most things with computers i have recently upgraded to a GTX780 (phantom GLH edition) from a 6870, and now the 780 is basically obsolete. So, im heading towards a mobo and cpu upgrade. im looking at a i5 4690 or 4670, and here is where it becomes tricky, what bloody motherboard do i get to try and extract the best out of the GTX780? and possibly SLI because i might get a 4k monitor. Are the ASUS Maximus worth it? Z87 v Z97? Sabertooth? Too many decisions........... Also, is it worth SLI'ing or should i get a 980 down the track? Thanks Legends. (also, i dont post here much because i generally find my answer just from reading)

Why does it seem every single time someone makes an awesome peice of hardware but the software to control it is just plain shitty? I have an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX and the software is total shit. It's slow, it's buggy, it's looks are undesirable, and it's just plain choppy throughout. Don't get me wrong, MSI's afterburner is superb. Escpecially Corsair Link, good GOSH that is horrid. On Win 8.1 it's just unfunctional. Nothing works. I've never been able to control anything on there. Win 7 was okay with controlling my H100i. Corsair Link has just been so slow, buggy, glitchy, and escpecially just choppy. It's never been good. The fan curve config. in CL is horrid and time consuming. Blah blah blah... Do these companies just not care or what the hell am I missing?
