I have a Ryzen 3 1200 in an Asus PRIME B350M-E. Planning to upgrade to Ryzen 5 5500. Is this a good upgrade? Are there better options for the price, excluding Intel? I have one 1080p monitor, play on lowest settings (Rust, ArmA 3, FIFA22 among others) and use creative/productive software (FL Studio, Paint.net) Also, I've noticed some mentions of the backplate. I'm not entirely into hardware, so forgive me: Is it possible to swap the CPU (both using their stock coolers) inside the tower? Will the backplate fall off when detaching the cooler? If so, how do I prevent that? Would also like some general tips about how to do the swap. I tend to not touch (or even look) inside my PC, so I'm quite paranoid I'll mess something up. Would be glad to give more info if needed. Thanks a lot! Case: Sharkoon SKILLER SGC1 Window Red RAM: G.Skill Aegis 1x16GB DDR4 GPU: GIGABYTE WINDFORCE GTX 970 4GB

Summary An AMD Ryzen 7 7800X with 10 cores and 20 threads and Ryzen 3 7300X with 4 cores and 8 threads have been discovered in a Geekbench submission. The 7800X processor scored 2097, and 16163 points in single and multi-core Geekbench tests. In the same test, Ryzen 3 7300X scores 1984 and 7682 points. Quotes My thoughts AMD is finally going to compete in the entry level to midrange area with these parts, and I feel that is necessary to help Zen 4 sales thrive. The 10c/20t 7800X should replace the price point of the 7700X and will offer competitive performance against Intel's 13700k. While the 4c/8t 7300X could be priced appropriately to compete with the Core i3. Performance wise, the Ryzen 7 7800X is halfway between the 7700X and 7900X; while the 7300X basically matches the Ryzen 5 5600X in multithreaded performance. According to TweakTown these parts will be released in the coming weeks, supposedly after RDNA 3 launches. Also, worth mentioning is the 7700 non-X, but that might be an OEM only part (hopefully it isn't). Hi everyone, first of all sorry if my English is not perfect. I recently built a very budget Ryzen based PC; everything works great, but there's a little but annoying problem: I'm actually using a Ryzen 3 3200G APU with a Gigabyte A320M-S2H Motherboard and 16 GB of RAM. It runs light games surprisingly well, but for some reasons seems to struggle a lot with YouTube and Netflix. Basically, in a very randomic way, the GPU, that usually sits between 15% and 25%, goes up to 100% usage, causing a massive stuttering that doesn't stop until I pause the video. In particular the task manager graph shows that what's running at 100% is "Video Codec 0". At first I thought it was something running in background, but I have the same problem even with just the browser with a single tab running. I have the latest version of Windows 11, the latest AMD drivers and the latest BIOS. There's also no overheating at all while the issue occurs. I've noticed that this issue can be solved by disabling Hardware Acceleration in the browser options, but it's not really optimal since that will lock Netflix resolution at 720p on Edge. I was wondering if anyone else had the same issue and if anyone got a solution. thank you so much

Hi everybody! A few days ago I built my first ever PC (a Mini-ITX which plan to use as an HTPC). Although it does turn on, the CPU fan spins and all LEDs light, I get no signal on my monitor (I tried both HDMI and DP). Please note that I use no Graphics Card but a CPU with integrated graphics instead (see full spec list below), so I have to use the ports of my motherboard. Does anybody know what I can do or what I should try? I thank everybody in advance since I don't know what I can do anymore. Part List (all parts are new except the CPU): CPU: Ryzen 3 2200g Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Pro Wifi RAM: 2* 4GB G.Skill NT Series DIMM Cooler: Noctua NH-L9a-AM4 Case: Unyka 52061 w/ integrated PSU 150W Storage: 240GB Kingston M.2 SSD Also, I should note that after powering my PC on I can hear a throttling noise which seems to come from my PSU, that is integrated into my case. According to PCPartPicker my ITX should use around 119W, and my PSU supplies 150W, so it should be enough. EDIT 9/11/2021: I bought a new PSU and case as it seemed that the PSU was the problem. However, I still get no signal whatsoever.

This is my fist time posting on this forums so i know know much. here is my build so far. ryzen 3 3300x rx 570 4gb msi b450 tomahawk oloy 16gb 3200 cx500w psu 240gb ssd, 2tb hdd/ the problem im having is ive tried to boot my computer with the parts just plugged in like the ram, cpu, psu, gpu, ssd. and when i short the power pins the motherboard shows that the cpu has an error. also it turn off anagin if i move my screwdriver off of the power pins an dturn on again when i short it. the fans dont spin on the cpu cooler or the gpu. i think the problem is that the motherboard suppports ryzen 2000 out of the box but doesnt support ryzen 3000 without bios update. can anyone confirm if what i have said is correct. plss correct me if anything is wrong.

Hi there. Here's the situation: from the past few weeks a hissing sound is coming from my PC. I opened my pc and tried to figure out the source but I can't find it. It makes when something is loading. Like when I open the chrome, file explorer, during the game loading screen. Suppose I open the chrome and open youtube. The sound will come during the site loading. As soon as I'm in the site it stops. Then sometimes in between it happens again. I cannot figure out the reason for this. I removed my Hard drive and just turn on my PC with only SSD which has OS installed but it was still coming so I don't think my hard drive is making it. I stopped all fans and checked but still it was coming. So I don't think any of the fans are the cause either. Please suggest what to do. Here's my system: Ryzen 3 3100 MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX Corsair CX 550W GTX 750 TI Thanks.

Hi there, I just noticed that my MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX motherboard has now a BIOS update which provides resizable bar function(https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX). I know it provides a performance boost to the graphics cards by allowing the processor to direct access the VRAM. But AMD hasn't provided officially to b450 chipsets and older processors(I have Ryzen 3 3100). Should I update my BIOS to gain that little performance boost? Also I'm currently using a much older GTX 750 TI 2GB graphics card and waiting for new budget GPUs to come. I'm afraid that updating the BIOS and enabling this feature might break something. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Budget (including currency): Country: Greece Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Fortinite, LOL, Office, Editing, Photoshop Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Motherboard Asus B450M-A, RAM 16GB 3000MHz, Geforce 1660 SUPER. My system is almost ready and I am about to buy the CPU (the other components are already ordered). Hi there, I'm using ryzen 3 3100 cpu on my build and using a stock cooler. my idle temp is around 50C. on BIOS I'm keeping current low idle in power supply idle control and PBO(precision boost overdrive) off to keep the temperature low. Currently I'm playing assassin's creed origins and the cpu temp fluctuates like crazy. It goes from 62 to 75+C. It touches around 75 and automatically its going down and keeps happening especially on AAA games. It doesn't happen on Apex legends or fortnite. Does anyone have solution for this? Motherboard: MSI b450 Tomahawk max GPU: ASUS GTX 750 TI OC PSU: Corsair CX550 Thanks

Greetings, community, I have a small but rather serious problem that I have not been able to deal with myself. I have HP Envy x360 15-ds0000ur (6PS65EA) laptop, it is quite slow, heavy, the display quality is horrible and I feel like I massively overpayed for it, but that's only my fault. The worst thing about it is that it has 2 slots of 4Gb RAM (total of 8, which is not that good in 2020) and because Radeon RX Vega 6 Graphics uses 2 Gb or RAM (as much as I really don't need, mostly gaming on this hardware is not an option) I have performance problems. My available RAM is only 5,9 now, which strikes the performance hard. I've searched the web for a way to decrease Vega RAM usage to at least 512 Mb to free some RAM, but even HP support forum has no solution to this. The only thing I've found was to adjust the value in BIOS, but my BIOS version has no such options available, it only shows the memory, but will not allow me to change the value. HP forum staff commented that if there is no such option in BIOS - there is not way to fix this. Does anyone has any ideas or other solutions to this problem? I'm not sure that my laptop RAM is upgradable and since the warranty is still valid, I don't want to resort to this possible fix before it runs out to avoid voiding the warranty (also, it won't probably be cheap and I don't trust the quality of work of service providers in my city). I have updated the bios to the latest revision from the official site but there is still no option available.

So for my first time PC build, I'm building the $500 budget gaming PC from one of Linus's recent videos. (https://youtu.be/3dEfc9LL9bQ) I'm looking over the parts list in Parts Builder, and I noticed the one conflict is something that Linus mentioned in the video: "Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Matisse CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions." If I'm using a Ryzen 3 3100, what specifically will I need to get in order to make this work? Link to the board I'm using: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/dQgzK8/asrock-b450m-pro4-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b450m-pro4

I've looked on about six or seven different sites to try and find one, from Newegg and Best Buy to ebay and even Facebook marketplace. The issue hasn't been that they've been listed and marked "sold out", but rather they just aren't showing up at all. Is there a better way to search for these parts?

Hi there. I just bought second-hand pc from ebay. Seller is claiming everything was working before he posted it, but I just had "no signal detected". PC Specs: Ryzen 3 1300 Rx 470 4gb Sapphire 8gb Kingston 2666 Evga 600w a320m-pro I swapped rx470 with rx590 and everything was working as it should. However, rx470 still was not working in my main pc. I tried it with 3 different monitors as well different cables HDMI, DVI and Display Port. Only once I managed to get some kind of "feedback" from the rx470 which was white/pink artefact screen. I didnt try to update the BIOS since newer card was working just fine on a320. I try both modes of BIOS on gpu (V Bios switch) with the same results. Just want to ensure that gpu in fact is faulty or I am missing something specific about this card? Thank you

Hey all, I'm located in the USA. I have been monitoring the major sites like Newegg, Amazon and MicroCenter (I have one 2 miles from my house) for the AMD Ryzen 3 3300x & 3100 CPUs. I had pre-ordered the 3300x from B&H. However, it has been backordered and delayed multiple times. The current backorder ETA is July 16th. I have not seen these available AND near their MSRP since the launch. MicroCenter hasn't had the CPU available at all. I had Newegg set for "Auto-Notify" once both of these chips hit the site and I haven't received any email from them. Amazon has the 3100, but it is marked up to $140 by a third party seller. Outside of what I listed above, I have not seen either of these CPUs at all. Am I just having really bad luck or has this launch been as frustrating as I have been experiencing?

Hello. So I've had the gtx 970 for a while and an amd phenom ii x6 1090t. So i only have enough budget to upgrade either my cpu or gpu. Since my cpu is way older and gtx is still good enough for now. Which ryzen 3gen you think is best for the gtx 970?

So with the new Ryzen 3 processors performing as well as an i7 it got me wandering. Is a lower performance processor inherently more power efficient? or if you artificially limmit a more powerfull cpu to have the same performance, would there be any difference in power draw? same with a GPU, if you limmited the frame rate of a game, so that an rtx 2080 and 2060 are both drawring the same number of frames, would there be anyt discernable difference in energy usage?

AMD’s underrated Ryzen 3 series is back, and this time they’re taking aim at the last of Intel’s Core lineup that hasn’t been totally wrecked yet. Are they the new budget darling CPUs? So my dad needs me to build a computer to replace his 8-year old old HP Desktop and since he doesn't do anything that requires a lot of processing power or something that stresses CPU too much so I think it would not be a bad idea to get a cheap $50 board and save $25-30 to pair with a cheap dual or quad core Ryzen APU. Upgrade ability with RAM and stuff like that isn't a worry. But the main thing is if supports Ryzen 3rd Gen out-of-the-box? I know the bios update came out nearly nine months ago but just wanted to make sure the model selling on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079NYQQJJ?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1) has that BIOS updated already. Anyone buy this board recently and got it working with 3rd Gen Ryzen?
