So my Sapphire Rx 470 4gb nitro is crashing during mining and i tried everything to fix it, the temps are fine 57° in KAWPOW algorithm, i thought it's the vram overheating since there's no temperature sensor, so i just want to know what thermal pad thickness in my model (0.5mm/1mm/2mm) Thank you

I thought this might help someone hence sharing it. After upgrading to the latest Adrenaline drivers for my old RX470, my random occasional frame drop followed by imminent crash issue seems to have gone away.. however.. my card was suspiciously quiet and I occasionally seem to have developed a strange irregular stutter, most noticeable when watching YouTube vids. Investigation found my GPU was idling at 65C under no load, on the desktop.. seemed odd. When poking around in the settings I found the fan ramp up only went to 50%, not great since noise is better than burnt out silicone. I started increasing the idle speed to get a gague on noise, this system is old and the case fans aren't quiet, so it makes sense to match lowest GPU fan speed with 'inaudible over case fan noise'. This turned out to be about 50%, or about 1250rpm. Now I've heard these things make a lot of noise with old drivers so I thought this seemed odd, so I cranked the idle speed up to 100% for a moment just to see how noisy they were, and they hit over 10,000 rpm! Now, clearly 50% of 10k is not 1250. I adjusted the fan speed profile so it ramps up to 100% at the top of the graph (85C) and my system is now much happier, and at the moment at least no longer stuttering. My biggest concern here is that upgrading your driver's to the latest Adrenaline drivers, certainly in some poorly flowed cases, will cook your GPU! Unless of course I'm the only one seeing this.. I didn't want to chance restoring to default and running a game, I'd rather not think about how hot it got.. I've been waiting for the latest GPU's to drop before I build a new system (I think my old X58 has earned its retirement), and reading through comments from 5000 series card owners, no question I'm buying NVidea, I don't even care what AMD have to offer. System spec is: Asus P6TSE with latest bios Xeon X5677 running stock clock Sapphire RX470 18GB DDR3 1666 650W PSU (I forget what it was bit it's not a cheapo garbage PSU, learned that lesson the hard way) I can't believe how long this old system has held up, it was initially built in 2010 with an XFX 4890, i7-920 and 3Gig RAM. I never overclocked it, but always intended to... Just never really needed to.

I have a ryzen 5 2600 with a Rx 470 8gb. At the stock settings the CPU usage is 95-99% and gpu usage is very low (40-60%). The base clock for CPU was 3.4ghz so I clocked it to 3.5ghz in bios and the GPU usage was ok now (95-99%) but the CPU speed is now only 3.5ghz where as it ran on 3600-3650mhz before. What could be the problem.... Specs:- Ryzen 5 2600 Rx 460 8gb sapphire nitro plus 500W PSU 1x8gb DDR 4 Ram @ 3000mhz ( I know I should use dual channel) Mobo: Asus b350ma

So... i have an RX470 Nitro+ 4gb and it is working almost perfect besides the fact that it only works with Non-WHQL 16.11.5-Nov25 driver and after that i need to use a program called "atikmdag-patcher" to sign the driver afterwards. If i try and update to any up-to-date driver (stable and beta), after the installation it will tell you that No graphics card is detected. Can anyone help me with this one?

Hello everyone, thank you for checking out my build. I'm on a university budget, but still wanted to play, so I went out and built a computer entirely from used hardware, for suprisingly small amount of money. CPU: AMD FX-8350, ( overclocked it to 4,8Ghz) - $20 CPU Cooler: Enermax Lepa aquachanger 240M - $35 Motherboard: Gigabyte 990XA UD-3 Rev 3.0 - $25 RAM: Samsung 1600Mhz 8Gb kit - $20 GPU: Gigabyte RX470 G1 gaming ( overclocked to 1275Mhz + 1800Mhz memory ) - $80 PSU: EVGA 80+ 600w - $35 Case: Cooler Master Masterbox MB520 RGB - $40 I used my old 250Gb SSD and 512Gb HDD So the total build cost me $255, and even had $45 left for a mouse.

This issue just happened just now. I updated to Windows 10 version 1903 yesterday without any hiccups. Today, when I turned on my computer, Windows prompted me to update a certain "Pci driver" (too fast didn't catch that). After restarting, I noticed that my AMD High Definition Audio Drivers were missing. I'm using sound out from my display so this is a big issue for me. Please see the screenshot below. So far what I have done is updating graphics driver (19.5.2 & 19.6.1, already attempted DDU & reinstall). updating chipset driver, updating BIOS & reflashing VBIOS. My spec can be viewed from my signature. Currently I'm using BIOS version F31, updated from F25. Please help me with this issue. Thank you.

Hi, I'm new to overclocking and suspect I've either got very lucky or done something wrong. I've got a combined overclock and undervolt on my rx 470 of 1350 mhz at 1000 mv. From what I've seen on other posts, I've either got exceedingly lucky or I'm incompetent and haven't actually applied the overclock. Gpu-z is showing fluctuations in voltage between 985 and 1015 which makes me think it's applied the undervolt but then why is it moving at all?

Okay, so I've bought sapphire rx470 4GB version, and i have one question to ask. Is it okay if my graphics card "only" consumes 85 watts of power during gaming, and in furmark maxed out power consumption is 94 watts? I've also tried in radeon wattman power limit settings to push the slider to the end, but nothings changed. Also to mention i've bought it as a second hand device. Everything works fine, but i was reading that it usually consums more than 100 watts... My power supply is chieftec 700watts 80plus bronze. So it has enough power, but I'm just curious is that the right way it should be working. Also in meny onther rewies I saw more power consumption than mine has... Maybe the previous owner did something with the bios? How should I inspect that? More about : power consumpiton rx470

can i get 60+ fps in pubg with this system? cpu : i5-3470 3.20 GHz gpu : RX 470 4GB ram : 8GB

Hey, So I bought this second-hand rx470 4gb at the "market price". Everything seemed legit. When I came back home, I couldn't get it to work. I then tried to fix it (it's fun ya know). At first, the computer couldn't even recognize the card. After a couple hours, I got the computer to recognize it, and with AMD's software too. Sadly, it still wasn't working. I couldn't get any display output from the GPU. Everytime I "asked" the card to output sum pixels, the whole computer would froze. From there, I got stuck. I had tried everything, from using on Windows 7 and 10, to flashing BIOS, without forgetting using a few different computers. Nothing more from there on. As it is an Asus' card (rx470 4gb strix non-oc edition), I registered it on their website and saw it still was under warranty. I got my RMA number, and sent it to an Asus' repair center. The result I got : "wrong BIOS ppid" (pictures + reply from Asus in attachment) Soooo anybody knows what this is suppose to mean? And, predictably, it's not covered but Asus' warranty. They ask 172$CAD to fix this… for a card I paid 110$CAD. Can I fix it by myself? Is the gpu completely dead? Can I change Asus' mind about repairing this card? I had never heard about this problem before! Thanks, Philippe

Hello everyone, I recently bought a second RX 470 to add to my current one. However I don't think the crossfire is working correctly. Both cards are recognized by the system, both cards show temperature, core usage, clock speeds. Both cards also go to 100% usage when I f.e. do a benchmark in a game, however I don't seem to get any performance boost at all in any game. Both cards are clocking at their max, both are at maximum gpu usage but I get the same, if not worse performance than with a single card (f.e. in Far cry 5 I got worse performance than with only a single one enabled) Tested games so far Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Far cry 5, (Furmark) I tried enabling the crossfire logo in the amd settings, but that does not show up ingame as it should when crossfire would be working correctly. I want to add that it did double my performance in the Furmark Benchmark, it also showed the logo there, so I really don't know where to continue at this point as I am clueless and would appreciate any help. Edit: I found one game in which crossfire seems to work and that is Far Cry 4 (showed the logo and all), in no other game tho

So apparently I have a PCI-E 16x lane that is supposedly dead and a dead SSD, all in a very short span of time. How it happened and what have I done so far? Z77-DS3H rev.1.1 i3570K 1. Normal use, shut the computer down. When I turn it on again later, no video signal through any of the GPU ports. 2. I thought the GPU was dead, but it wasn't, tested RX470, RX480, RX580, none of them worked in the PCI-E16X but they all worked on the PCI-E 4X lane. 3. I was able to have video output from the iGPU as well. But if put a GPU in the PCI-E 16X the motherboard doesn't even recognise the GPU. 4. I tried cleaning the PCI-E 16X, no change, still not recognising it. 5. I tested a PCI WiFi card on the PCI-E 16X, just for chance and for my surprise it's actually working. So what does this mean? Why does the WiFi card work and not the GPU? It shouldn't be about cleaning since the GPU was in the socket when it stopped working. What else can be done here? I find it odd that if it works with the PCI WiFi card it means the main pins in the 16X are actually working, so what about the rest? A GPU doesn't need all the pins, otherwise it wouldn't work in the PCI-E 4X lane, I don't know what to do here. Is this related to power through the 16X lane? I'm trying to read more about power and PCI-E lanes. What I don't like about using the 4X lane is because in this MoBo it gets in the way of the SATA connectors and kind of forces them, pressing them a bit to the sides, it was a temporary solution until I could finish editing a video. The problem is that my SSD is apparently dead as well. It froze the system. 1. Reboot and it's not recognising the SSD at all. 2. I opened the case, disconnected and connected all 3 SATA cables [1x SSD and 2x HDD] from the MoBo and the SSD and HDD. 3. Boot, everything is working. 4. Froze again. 5. Try the same steps as did in #2 but no luck this time. 6. Tried one by one, only the SSD is not recognized. 7. Tried in all different SATA sockets, nothing. 8. Tried different cables and different power cables, nothing. In this case I really think the SSD is dead but it's really odd, why did it start working again the first time and not this time? It wasn't even the socket that was being pushed by the GPU the most and the socket is still working anyway. Is my SSD really dead? Can a good soul help me out? Thanks!

Hi all, im having problem with Asus Strix RX470 OC 4GB DDR5. Card is working normally(good fps, normal temps etc.), until it's not working. Card just shuts down, fans stop spinning, I get a message on display "no connection". And i have to press a power button for a few seconds to turn the system off. Everything is fine when i watch youtube videos, surfing the net, movies etc, but problem occurs when playing games. Happened in LoL, Fortnite, Borderlands, PES. (in PES shuts down very fast). When running FurMark or Unigen(Heaven and Superposition) PC and card are working normally, no shutdowns, no stuttering, no problems. So i tested with old and new drivers, flashing new BIOS on card, tried messing with OC software(lowering power, speeding the fans up, etc.), reinstalled Windows(all legal software), tested with other PSU. Tested GPU memory, no problems. Tested graphics card on another rig with new installation of windows and same thing happened, after playing PES for some time, card just shut down. I've read on another forum that low quality PSU can be a problem, low Max Amp on 6pin rail or something like that. But i've tested with 3 differnet PSUs doubt thats the case (maybe it is). I would appriciate any help. Thank you!

Build: R7 1700 (OC 3.75) liquid cooled by DeepCool AIO 360mm RX470 not OC Asus Rog Strix B350 mobo Corsair Vengence RGB 2x8gb set to 2933mhz Seagate 1TB SSHD Problem: Red Screen when I play Paladins. Some days it works some days it crashes left and right then red screens my computer but doesn't restart itself. What I have tried already: Tested other games and have had no issues LoL, PUBG, and Brawlhalla. Stressed Test with Valley benchmark, No crashes. Validated the game files, no issues found. Powerstrip is new and I didn't go cheap on it. PSU is clean 650w DeepCool gold plus. Drivers are all up to date. Is this a sign my GPU is dying or just boycotting Paladins? Not sure what is going on here Any insight will be welcome and tried to fix this issue. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I am from Peru I need help picking my PSU, here in my country people tend to buy high wattage PSU (650+ at least), also prices here are more expensive. Right now I have two available options to choose: 1. EVGA G3 550w Gold for 107$ usd. 2. Seasonic Focus 650w Gold for 111$ usd. I saw your Tier 1 list and both are in there so it comes to wether I need 550w vs 650w, quality and those 4 dollars difference. My build right now is: - Ryzen 5 1600 - MSI Armor RX 570 - Asus Strig B350 F - G.Skill Trident Z 2x8GB 3000mhz RGB - NZXT S340 Elite Limited Purple Edition - WD Caviar Blue 1TB - Monitor ViewSonic XG2701 - EVGA G3 550w or Seasonic Focus 650w Gold? I plan to upgrade in the near future (1/2 year to 2 years) adding a Samsung 960 Evo 500GB/1TB, Upgrade from RX 570 to a 1080ti or vega 56, Ryzen 7 (prob OC a little bit if needed). I also will add some RGB fans into the case. Probably 2 years from now to a better monitor (something 144hz and 1440p) and VR (HTC Vive). I also have connected a Logitech G29 wheel and pedals plus the shifter. I do tend to use computer at least 6 hours daily to 12 hours on weekends. 60% gaming, 25% working and 15% idle. Beyond that I don't plan to go crazy, so what PSU (the EVGA G3 550w or Seasonic Focus 650w) is a better fit for my needs right now that will also hold to my future intentions. Thanks you very much for your help guys!

I was selling my hashing power for a few days now and i have encountered a little problem that is pissing me off On my 2x 8gb rx470 Nitro+ i have been able to mod bios, OC them and get about 29mh/s (on ETH) out of each card (more like 28.5). But when renting the has speed for longer(eg 4 hours, on nicehash(i know not the best way to earn with GPU)) the clock speed of both cards drops to around 100/130 mhz less than max clock speed and stays there, that results in about 1.2/1.5 Mh/s less hashing power on each card. To bring them back i have to manually in wattman increase/decrease any setting and press apply and it goes back. No the cards are not thermal throttling, they are sitting at cosy 75*C. No i havent OCed them to hell, only 1280 on the core clock and 2100 on memory. No i havent undervolted them too much 1020/1030mV at max clock speed. Any ideas what might be causing this issue?

So I'm a first time builder and I've watched hours of YouTube and just cant get a solid answer to which GPU is better please HELP! I'm mostly gonna be playing open world games like rust and ark but also maybe some PUBG List of parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yYf2hq Thanks in advance My options are RX470 4gb or GTX 1060 3gb don't suggest anything better cause i simply cant afford it. I'll probably be playing at 1080p I have a crappy monitor (no g sync or free sync) but might be getting a better one in the future.

As of late my fps has dropped compared to what it used to be before. I used to have fps very similar to this video: But recently with the same settings used in this video (which are the same settings I used when I still got high fps) I don't even get a stable 30 fps. Using msi afterburner I saw that the GPU is at 100% at all times during gaming while the processor doesn't go much higher than 45%. I have not overclocked this graphics card. These are the parts I got: Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V with bios version 2104 CPU: Intel Core i7-3770k OC at 4,5GHz Ram: 2 sticks of 4GB ddr3 Kingston hyperX genesis gray series 1866mhz Graphics card: xfx Rx 470 black edition 4gb Monitor: LG 29UM68-P 2560x1080 Thanks for any help in advance!

I have a DIYPC DIY-TG8-BW Tempered Glass case with ASUS Micro ATX DDR3 2000 AMD AM3+ Motherboard M5A78L-M/USB3 motherboard. I have an AMD FX-6300 Processor with a cheap $12 cooler that seems to do a decent job of keeping the CPU cool. I have 16GB of DDR3 RAM(Half of which are G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) Ripjaws X Series DDR3 1600MHz PC3-12800 240-Pin Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM) The other half are crucial generic style RAM and are probably bottlenecking my G.Skill RAM as in my BIOS both sets are running at around 800Mhz) I have a 500W Power Supply(slightly better than generic, Bronze certified) I currently have an XFX RX460 Double Dissipation 4GB card. I'm trying to figure out the best route to take for upgrading my system periodically.(meaning not a complete replacement of all my components at once) I think my first mistake was buying a micro-atx motherboard, as now I'm limited with my options. I know at some point I'd like to upgrade my CPU cooler to a Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED Turbo(or one of the other options available) or a Noctua cooler(although I HATE the retro color scheme of Noctua's coolers) I also know I want to upgrade the other half of my RAM to match the G.Skill RAM. My main question is would it be worth it to replace the motherboard with a full size ATX board with 2 or more PCI Express slots and add an additional XFX RX460 or would it be better to just upgrade my 460 to a 470 or 480 or another AMD card? I've heard many people mention that an RX460 has roughly half the performance of RX470s and RX480s. Would two in Crossfire mode be worth saving the $200 or so extra it would cost to get an RX470 or 480? RX480 and RX470 cards right now are in the $300+ with some as high as $600!(occasional deals can be found on Amazon though for around $268 for a 4GB version) I've had my eye on a R9 380 4GB as well https://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-DL-DVI-I-DL-DVI-D-Graphics-11242-13-20G/dp/B016LE95TK/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1506706965&sr=1-3&keywords=r9+290 Would it be better to just save up some money and buy a beast of a card or would it be beneficial having two RX460 cards? I know I can get a replacement motherboard for like $50 or $60 and a XFX RX460 4GB for like $149.99 or so. Which would be cheaper than one RX470, 480 or R9 card. Is CrossFire actually worth it?
