I have a Redmi Note 10 Pro running Android 13/MIUI 14.0.7.0.TKFEUXM Global. I want to root it again (it loses root with each update), but the only 14.0.7.0 Global ROM available at xiaomifirmwareupdater.com is 14.0.7.0.TKFMIXM. There is a 14.0.7.0.TKFEUXM EEA ROM, which I believe is the EU version. Can I extract boot.img from the TKFMIXM variant to root a TKFEUXM ROM? Will that brick the phone because of the different version? Alternatively, could I use the EU version? I don't want to flash the entire ROM, just extract the boot.img file. I appreciate any help.

I'm looking to flash a custom ROM on my Galaxy A50 since it won't be receiving anymore updates. Any advice on what ROMs are available, the difference between them and tutorials on how to flash one? This is my first time so I'd like to cover my bases.

I thought a fun Christmas project would be the resurrection of the the old family computer, a ‘Gateway Performance AS 650 tb3’ desktop. To give some back story, about a year ago I dusted off the internal components, when I put the computer back together it booted fine but crashed a few seconds latter. Now all I get when I turn it on are beeps codes. The code specifically states that ‘the video card is faulty or not installed, or an external ROM module does not properly checksum to zero’. So I have a few questions: 1) Given the age of this machine how do I know what replacement GPU’s are compatible? 2) If it is the ROM module that’s fizzled, how do fix that? 3) I’ve been unable to find a PDF manual for the computer anywhere on the internet, was hoping someone could help me with that? ~Thanks in advance for any help I get on this.

I have some old phones that I would like to reuse instead of letting them dust to death or disposing them. Before you ask, giving them to relatives isn't really feasible as it would just be a downgrade for almost all of them (glares in jealousy) Not to mention most of these phones are laughably old or in bad condition so there's that as well. I'm going to describe the phones, their respective conditions and what could possibly be done with them though feel free to give your suggestions on what I should/could do with them. Do keep in mind that I'm on a very tight budget and I'm very hesitant to spend money on these phones unless it's abosu-fukin-lutely worth the investment. FYI, I'm on a Samsung Galaxy A50 so I can't really "upgrade". Additionally, as of now, I'm not really in the need of a secondary phone though maybe I could put a sim with unlimited data into one of these and use them as mobile hotspots? Is there a ROM that focuses on cutting down background processes so that I can maximize the bandwidth/antennas for hotspot use? Though this isn't really useful considering I'm not going anywhere in this lockdown to need a hotspot in the first place but hey its best to be prepared I s'pose. Or maybe i can salvage the parts and use them to make some other stuff? Your suggestions would be very much appreciated. Again as I'm a beginner to modding, custom ROMs, rooting and whatnot, I would definitely like some advice as this also gives me the oppurtunities to safely get into modding without the risk of damaging/bricking/f**king up my phone. Hence, your suggestions are welcome with open arms. 1. Samsung Galaxy A70 (2018) Condition: Dead screen Description: AFAIK the rest of the phone works fine just the screen has committed not living. This was mainly due to a shoddy screen replacement by an even shoddier repair shop (dude literally couldn't be arsed to glue the screen back fucking taped it) the reason was that the phone being out of warranty and the screen replacement from Samsung official was ~$USD 80 whereas Mr Shoddy did it for ~$USD 25 and threw in an admittedly decent case as well. (Just so we're clear this wasn't my decision my dad wouldn't listen). I'm willing to do it myself (would be a good experience for me) but the screen costs about ~$90 so yeah. Not really willing to fix a phone when for twice the price I could just get a new one that is far more superior. Use cases: Can't really think of any. Maybe a Pendrive? mini computer? Can the micro USB connector even output to a display? Would really like some advice on this one. 2. Nokia 1 Condition: Working as normal Description: Ah yes this ******** aka my first smartphone. I have no intention of giving this to anyone simply because I'm not sadistic enough nor do I know anyone masochistic enough to take it. It runs on Android 10 (Go edition) and has a mere pittance of 1GB RAM and 8GBs of Storage (oh god the flashbacks, it's all coming back to me. no pls no). needless to say, a 5 dollar USB stick has more storage and perhaps more performance as well. Battery life is non-existent and so is its ergonomics. True to Nokia's design philosophy this mf will not fucking die. The number of times I have dropped it and it just took it like a tank is amazing. if you're wondering how much I paid for this it was a whopping ~USD 40 used. A damn good deal for someone who had been stuck on feature phones until then. Use case: Security cam? there's an app on Google Play called Alfred (good name) that's made for this purpose and I'm gonna try it out. Maybe Install DroidCam and turn it into a webcam (albeit a crappy one though laptop webcams can't really speak for themselves) Video Doorbell? Could use some suggestions here as well. 3. Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Condition: Working (installed new battery) Description: Ooooooh boy time to travel back to 2014 the era of the unfathomable abomination that is the curved screen. This one I just got recently from my uncle [begin rant] who also has an S10+ in a cupboard but won't give it to me because it has his data on it. When I offered to transfer the data to his S21+ Ultra max storage variant he said "later" which = never [end rant]. It still has its S pen that doesn't work with any other phone or the clicky top that other S pens do. Not really sure what to do with this one. It's running Android 6.0/Marshmallow. Use Case: Since it's so old maybe I can use this as a testing/learning ground for flashing ROMs. <--This could also apply to the others. Drawing ....surface? (cant really call it a tablet now can I?) Again would like to hear your suggestions. Last but not least 4. Huawei Nova 3i Condition: Screen is halfway out Description: This was my dad's old phone and during his time using it, he had the bright idea of putting his phone in his back pocket and sitting on it. For 3-4 years, Every, Single, Day. One day he drops it and is surprised to find the phones screen halfway tryna make a run for it. So yea basically the phone's screen is halfway out and the buttons (both volume and lock) are f**ked and the screen has dead zones and other touchscreen related issues. Use Case: I cant think of much either. Maybe I can disassemble that finger print reader and somehow connect it to my laptop to make windows hello/finger print login possible? Probably not possible with the A70 since its reader is on the side, maybe the Note Edge? Though I would assume its fingerprint tech is inferior to the Huawei's due to the age gap. So to list out some of the universal use cases I can think of are: a) Put a sim with unlimited data and if possible flash a custom ROM that limits background/network processes/activity so that the phone's antennas can be maximized for hotspot usage. b) Disassemble and salvage parts like cameras, batteries and whatever can be reused. Perhaps can DIY them into something else? I'm not exactly sure c) Turn them into Security cams, I know there's an app called Alfred on Google Play that I will try out and see if and how well it works. d) Turn them into smart storage units? I'm thinking since some of them have large storage capacities maybe turn them into External storage units? Maybe flash a Barebones/lightweight ROM with an adequate file explorer and job done? That about sums it up for the phones if you have any question regarding details feel free to @ me and I'll try to answer asap. Again I'm open to any ideas you all may have.

Hello everyone I will get straight to the topic Recently I bought an Sapphire RX 5500XT 8GB Pulse At first I thought it was running normally until i checked the clocks. So the Memory clock is at 1736 (not 1750) and the Boost Clock reaches 1820-1830 not 1845. And then I checked thermals with Hwmonitor and MSI Afterburner(Which wouldn't let me touch target temps and voltage even when i unlocked them from the settings). The card was hitting 80+ degrees while the fan speeds went up to 20% ( that happened at both silent and performance bios). So I thought it was a driver issue. I had the 20.11.3 and I DDU it and installed the recommended 20.11.2 Nothing changed I tried some of the auto-overclock that Andrenalin offers and things got even weirder. The auto-overclock set the speed to 1930, but my card decided to run at 1870 even when its colder at 68 degrees And then the crashes. For some unknown reason my card decide that the auto-overclock (yes even at 60Mhz lower) some day would crash and other day nope. For a whole day it was working fine , the next day it crashed. But it crashes when i close the game and not ingame. So I thought that maybe i can reflash the bios(the performance one). I downloaded a matching bios from techpowerup , downloaded the amd flash tool. I tried to launch it as administrator. And it pops up "Error reading from ROM". After that I knew it was time to ask someone more experienced (I have flashed an RX 480 in the past with completely broken bios, so I know how to use the tool , but I don't know what to do now) PLEASE HELP Specs: i3 10100 , 16gb at CL12 and 2666Mhz , Gigabyte B460 D3H, XFX TS 650 80+ Gold, Samsung EVO 860 (250GB with windows 10), patriot 480GB and Seagate 1TB

So I've been using my Samsung galaxy s4 for around a year now (a hand me down) and i absolutely hate it in it's current state. Because i unlocked it from AT&T to T Mobile i cannot update meaning the last version of android my uncle was running (Android 4.4.4) is all i get (And it's unstable, anytime i try to close an application or use Facebook for longer than 30 minutes it just crashes) so i'd like a custom ROM for improvements. From what I've seen on YouTube installing something like Lineage OS or Tesla ROM is easy and somewhat safe. Is there any specific way i should do this? or should i hold back and keep using my S4 running android 4.4.4? I don't have a replacement so if this bricks the device that's it. (I've made a post related to this regarding a found galaxy s7 three days ago, That device has since than been returned to my friend who found it. what he's done from there is not my concern. this however, is regarding a completely different device)

I want to root a spare phone I have for fun. I was hoping to do something practical like update it to Lineage OS. I am new to rooting and was hoping to find the easiest method. I am looking for a guide that can also help me play Pokemon Go on it. I do not want to use my main phone for fear of overheating. The only reason I want to install Lineage OS is because I don't like using the Samsung 4.4.2 UI and wanted the security fixes of newer platforms.

I know i'm being nosy, but are any of you running anything non-stock? Just being nosy really, sorry! I'm running Lineage OS - the CyanogenMod replacement, works like a charm, and a custom kernel (no idea what one....) the Google Assistant mod on a rooted Moto X Play EDIT: I'm running noguat 7.1.1 BTW

Hi, I have a Vodafone Smart 4 Turbo. I've had it for about 3 years and now I want to try something different by installing a new version of Android on it. However, for the life of me I can't find anything like Lollipop 5.0 to use on it or Marshmallow 6.0 as a custom ROM for it... Does anyone know where I could find them for me to use? Or even just give me the link straight to a possible ROM? I already use KitKat version 4.4.4. If I can't get it working, then I have a Kindle coming in the post soon so I can try it on that instead. Thanks, BP

Hello everyone Greetings, As you have read in the title I have f*cked up my phone (Micromax a250).What I did was I went into advanced wipe in twrp and wiped everything.I mean EVERYTHING.I know I really don't know shit about phones. After I did that I tried to reboot it but it gave me a warning saying "No OS installed" that was the moment I knew I f*cked up,after I realised what I had done I haphazardly tried to flash my phone's stock ROM on my phone, thankfully my phone still mounted to my pc but the ROM failed to flash,so I tried another ROM then another and after an evening of trying everything I shut off my phone and here I am today writing this post.So if any of you guys can help me that would be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Hello, I recently rooted my Nexus 6P and installed Nitrogen OS on it. While I was installing it, I dropped the phone onto the ground, and the USB cable fell out. I formatted it and began to reinstall the OS. I used TWERP. Currently the auto rotation is not working. I downloaded an app which has a ball which moves when you tilt the phone. It works. I also tried google cardboard, it works. I also tried CPUz, the sensors don't seem to be working well. I tried another app, the graph works, but for some reason the compass didn't (compass worked in other apps). I'm confused, hope its not hardware. Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks. EDIT: I have tried to hit it and drop it in order to fix it (that's what other threads said), didn't work. Also, I dropped the phone many times from different heights, so the drop while installing the OS was quite small. The phone always worked perfectly fine. I believe its either the small drop or the software that's causing the problem. I'm confused why some apps work whilst others don't. My guess is it's maybe because the sensors work, but they aren't strong, so some games see that it's changing slightly, but the OS sees it as too small, and isn't as sensitive as certain apps may be? I really don't know, and I'm a bit stressed.

Okay, Hello everyone. Recently I've flashed a custom rom (this one) on my Galaxy S5 (G900F). Everything works fine (except swiftkey for some reason), but when i try to make a phone call it just ends it and then its like nothing happened. You can see from the video what happens with in the status bar. I've tried wiping cache, I checked the block list, I've tried downloading another app from calls/messaging, I've tried another dial app and it doesnt help. Messages work fine tho, and it seems im the only one with this problem. I wish it would get resolved as i really like this one and dont find CM or Lineage as nice Little bit of an earrape at the end so turn your volume down

Greetings people of the interwebs! I have questions to all you tech gurus out there. I have a Rooted NextBit Robin running lineageOS using SuperSU. Now the question is, can it run android pay now that all this has been done to it? I know it doesn't like it when you root your device but I have looked around and some people say that there is a way around this. The other problem is I don't know if it's just the root or it it's because of the ROM I am using and if there is any way around something like switching to stock android or unrooting and locking the bootloader again. If you have thoughts or the answer to these issues please comment down below, I really want to find out! Also, if there are other options for things like this let me know.

I found myself a second-hand GTX 980 to replace my ageing GTX 590, but when I installed it I couldn't get past the BIOS splash screen. Thankfully I have a dual BIOS motherboard (Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z) so I was able to copy the default BIOS from the other chip which let me boot. It seems the problem was the PCI ROM priority was set to "EFI Compatible ROM" instead of "Legacy ROM". What is the problem with "EFI Compatible ROM"? Is there anything wrong with my graphics card? Is there anything I can do to make it work?

So I've been having some problems with my computer latetely, everytime I boot it up it beeps fast and no posting, after I re seat the ram it takes me to the screen where I need to press F1 to continue or del to go into bios because after all cpu overclock failed(settings reset), then it takes me to windows and its all fine, until I re boot, same thing happens. Now it gives me this error and it made a very fast beeping noise, faster than before with this message popping up (see photo) Specs: Windows 7 64 bit Quad core q8200 2.33 @ 2.8 oc Sapphire r7 360 oc 2gb 6gigs of ddr2 ram, (My pc detected 4 gigs of ram since the last time my pc booted) A dedicated sound card I also changed the mobo battery to a brand new one. Anybody that knows whats going on?? Thanks.

I got my Galaxy S7 through Vodafone Germany about 9 months ago, and in that time I'm quite feeling the shit TouchWiz aging. Now my phone dod go through some non official flashing back when i Nougat for the S7 just came out. I was very excited so i just grabbed the first one o could find and flashed it. Now when I had marshmallow i would get about 6 hr SOT, with decently heavy usage. After Nougat I couldn't punch through 4 and a half or 5,and now 3 is the highest I can get. I even did a wipe some time ago. Now tbh i do use it a bit more heavily these days, with wifi, data and GPS on all the time, but it's still too bad, and it doesn't improve no matter what i do. Now i was hoping i could get some raw feedback on some custom ROMs over here. Currently I think I'll get the SuperMan rom since most of the AOSP ones aren't at the most stable state. Thanks in advance.
