Does anyone have some recommendations as to what games to get to start off with VR in? Or what games are good to demo the technology to friends? I'm looking for easier to pick up things that I can use with a Vive that are worth the money, especially aimed towards those of you who have a Vive unit. What are you playing now, what was an interesting experience, but not something that you'll come home and play, and what is something that you look to play coming home from work? Are there any review channels or sites that you actually trust about these types of recommendations? Steam reviews are nice, but I'm not sure how much I want to take of that on faith. I'll edit this or reply and add on my thoughts about what games I find myself coming back to once I get my unit.

In an Oculus blog released today, they have confirmed 30 games that will available on launch day. Oculus also showed off the new Oculus Home, the Rifts 'desktop' Not long now. Nice to know that there are a good selection of 'proper' games at launch. I'm personally looking forward to project cars. Source: https://www.oculus.com/en-us/blog/introducing-30-games-coming-to-oculus-on-march-28/ Update: IGN have an article showing that Oculus have released a 'comfort' rating for all launch games, ranging from comfortable, intermediate to intense. I find some of these ratings bizzare. While I've read from journalists who have tried Adr1ft, that it can be disorienting and cause motion sickness (the setting is probably partly to blame here too) I haven't heard anyone complain about Project cars yet, and even Oculus own 'Lucky's Tale is rated as Moderate. My guess is that the effect will vary from person to person. The list can be found at the link below, but currently doesn't appear on Oculus's own blog. Hey everyone, Do anyone here know if the MSI Z170I uses any USB controllers that is incompatible with the Oculus Rift? I'm planning on building a portable mini-ITX computer for the Oculus Rift and it would be nice to know if the MB has compatible USB ports. From my understanding MSI mainly uses Intel USB ports, which means I'm good. Thanks,

Would you buy rift for example to boost productivity, get 3D ( for modeling, art, fun, movies, ... ), to sit on sofa not needing to sit behind computer screen, to not ruin eye sight, to control drones or RC planes, to block out outside world / light, to develop something,... It can be whatever you think of. Please only answer if you are able to buy rift at its current price.

So I'm looking for a VR headset for dirt cheap. I was recently lucky enough to build a "VR ready" computer for $450. (according to steam's VR performance test). Anyways, as you may tell, I am an extreme cheapskate lol. I'm only 15 so I don't have that much money lying around to spend, but I REALLY want to try VR! Like, REALLY badly... I've been browsing ebay for used oculus rifts, but they're crazy expensive; at least to me. The DK1 can be as low as $225 so is it worth it? I don't have any more money than that to spend. I'd be willing to take on a custom VR project though if anyone knows of any guides. you know, using my iphone to screen share and use a google cardboard-like headset or something. I don't know, I need advice.

Ok so here is the deal. I have one 980 as of right now (asus strix to be exact) and I also have my pre-order in for the Oculus Rift (I dont need people telling me there thoughts on my purchase I know Im an idiot). What I need to know is if it is going to be worth my money to get a second 980 for VR and other games or am I better off sticking with the one I have. Thank you for your (hopefully) constructive input.

Seriously did I miss something? The WAN Show before CES they asked what people wanted to see and it was monitors and VR. Sure there was a bit of monitor content, but there was only ONE VR video and it wasn't even from a VR headset. It seems like the videos from CES are all up, but they missed a ton of stuff that i would have liked to see.

What do you think how gaming will be in the next 10 years ! Will VR be a thing ? Will Gaming cockpits like the obutto revolution make sense anymore even for racing and flight simulation? Would technology allow something like what happened in the TRON series? (Going in the computer to experience the game first hand) Would a setup like that cost a fortune? Would we reach to point where GPU's become so effective that you wouldn't need to spend a lot to play at the highest settings at the highest resolution to experience a good framerate? Could newer technology reduce cost for the High end user ? Post your thoughts ! Will add more polls to it !

Hello, my computer is soon to be 4 years old. Therefore, I think it's time to upgrade. With skylake coming soon, I'm thinking of buying a computer in the fall, but will Nvidia relase new versions of 970 cards or similar that is capable for VR? (1070 lol) Should I wait until spring next year? My budget is around $1100 and I'm going to use it for VR when the Oculus is released. Therefore I think a GPU is the most important part, and the current 970 is not powerful enough. Thanks for all responses! If anything is unclear, just comment and I'll make sure to elaborate.

What would you guys pick? I would probably choose the Oculus Rift.

So I came over this cool bit of the Royal Norwegian Army using an Oculus Rift to see better while driving tanks and other armoured vehicles where visability is low or close to zero. There's a video in the link, it's all in Norwegian, but the images speaks for themselves. http://www.tu.no/it/2014/04/15/se-haren-kjore-stridsvogn-med-oculus-rift The Majour talks a little about the pros of having the capabillity of a 180 degree view in front of the vehicle when you have to shut all the hatches because you're under fire. The developers here are talking about giving soldiers the same perspective as they're used to from video games. What they have done is very simple though, they've just strapped on some civilian grade cameras, laptops, a Rift and some basic software. The majour throws out some expected costs for millitary grade equipment contra civilian grade and how much more it costs. This is just a "fun project" it's more of an exercise in devoping future solutions and this setup will not be in use any time soon probably

"oculus VR CEO, Brendan Iribe, told the audience at Web Summit 2014 in Dublin, that a consumer-version of the company’s Rift VR headset is “close”. While he understandably declined to offer a timetable for launch, he says the latest version of the headset, Crescent Bay, is “largely finalized for a consumer product.'” source: http://thenextweb.com/facebook/2014/11/04/oculus-ceo-says-consumer-rift-vr-headset-close/ this might be a repost i was in a hurry so i just had a quick look but, at least we have some kind of idea of when the rift will come out now, I might buy it for Christmas in 2015.

So we have all heard of the 1st person mode that is coming to PS4/XBONE and MORE IMPORTANTLY PC. Do you guys think there will ever be support for oculus in 1st person mode? Could people make a mod for that? Because that would be the best open world game ever created. (Sorry, the title was a bit mis leading Haha) Rant below:

Do you even rift bro? Oculus VR CEO Brendan Iribe said at a conference in Ireland today that the current developer model, code-named Crescent Bay, is "largely finalized for a consumer product." Brendan Iribe (Oculus CEO) Iribe says the company has changed significantly since it was acquired by Facebook in March. Operating as an independent subsidiary, Oculus has grown from 75 people to over 200 employees and now operates a separate R&D division. Alright , Here's the kicker to this, When he said months , he meant technically, 23 months , By that it would qualify as "many months" but "not years." <_< technically it's 2 years The big challenge remains developing an effective input device. Iribe says keyboards, mice and gamepads aren’t up to the job and neither is gesture-control at this point When on the interview where he was asked about the threat of rival VR products, Iribe said his main concern is choppy implementation of the VR technology So when asked that when would Oculus felt that it would be ready to launch to consumers? ibre responded “We’ve gone out there and set this bar,We want to get it right,We don’t want it to be four or five years. We’re eager for this to happen.” pretty good news update imo, What do you think? Leave your comments rants & Thoughts down belowwwwwwww.. http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20141218PD210.html Title says it all. What do you guys think? Interesting at all? Do you thin they'll focus on XBone too much and leave Windows in the dust?

Started playing Rift recently and I noticed that it's being DDoS'd a lot. Trion has confirmed this and it's really starting to ruin their games, not just Rift. Is there something that they can do to prevent this or it is inevitable? All shards are currently down, it's disappointing to see how games can be ruined by a small group of people.

Now that's one way to promote a movie.. B) if you live in L.A , New York, Houston or on Washington D.C. area ,Brace yourself , you might be lucky enough to experience the upcoming movie in fully immersive experience Oculus 3D, The Oculus Rift experience allows participants to don high-tech headsets to feel as if they are traveling, even floating in zero gravity through the Endurance spacecraft from the film. The Film Director Christopher Nolan donned the virtual headset himself. The Experience , Well not the actually movie, atleast part of the movie, This is the first time the Virtual reality system is being staged for a movie promotion on this scale, The Ocuolus VR team along with Christopher nolan came up with this idea of promoting the movie & expanding the possibilities for the virtual reality system, The project required a team of 15-20 people over the span of two months to painstakingly re-create the world and "the exact ship" from the movie.the experience is that you get to travel within the confinement of the ships interior & also a ZeroG experience out into space & through the wormhole, The virtual Oculus Rift world was revealed on Monday in NYC and will travel throughout the country ahead of the film's opening Nov. 7.

The Oculus keynotes will soon start on Twitch. This keynote is mostly for developers but I thought maybe some people on here would be interested. Don't expect anything amazing to be announced. (Looks like I was wrong about that). Link: Oculus on Twitch Scheduled and other info on Oculus' website HERE. Flattering picture of Luke on the big screen (not actually Luke). Yes, that is what you look like while wearing a VR headset. They see two different experiences. "Mobile VR" and "PC VR".

Hi all, My question is quite a difficult one, it's very specific. So I got a 2gb gtx 770 and a single 1080p monitor, I'm looking for an upgrade. It's meant for gaming and 3d work. The games I'm looking to play are racing sims and bf4, hardline etc. An ultra wide from lg would be 2560*1080, the oculus will probably launch with 1440p or higher and triple monitor would be 5760*1080 of course. So the next question is: could my single 2gb gtx 770 run these setups? It doesn't have to be on ultra even though it would be nice for immersion. So what would you do? Thanks for reading!
