Please help! I messed up my BCD using EasyBCD 2.3, and now when I boot into UEFI mode I (at first) got two options, "Windows 8" and "Windows 8" ( my Windows 10 option was nowhere to be found), and neither of them were operable. When I tried booting from a Windows 8 USB I had to repair my computer, it was (a) unable to repair via startup repair, (b) unable to install Windows 8 ( maybe b/c I was already running Windows 10), and (c) not even able to reset! It was, apparently, because I had no recovery partition (although I had checked, and it was there). After a while, booting into UEFI didn't even bring me to the same screen, but to one even worse than the blue screen of death: one that told me to either insert an installation or repair media, or contact the manufacturer (out of the question). Somehow ( I don't know how) I was able to reach the Windows 10 recovery option screen, but like the one from the Windows 8 media, it lacked a "reset computer" option - one that was inoperable anyway when I had attempted to use it before it disappeared on the Windows 8 media page. I even went as far as to boot into Ubuntu using Legacy mode instead of UEFI, and I was ready to erase EVERYTHING just to have my computer back up and running again (even, heavens forbid, on Linux instead of Windows [I would always be able to reinstall later]), but it wouldn't let me erase my whole drive completely! When I tried using command prompt to reset the BCD with the bcdboot command and others like it, I received messages like, "Files could not be copied" or "do not exist" or something. Is my computer lost, never to return again to this world? Have I screwed up so badly that I should just sell m computer for parts? Is there some way to hard reset by cracking open the bottom panel and messing around? Should I just mummify myself in anti-static wrap and never wake up again? Please help! My computer is an Acer Aspire E7-575-G or something. It's a laptop with an i7 6500U, 8 GB of RAM, and a (lol) NVIDIA 940 MX.

best Best way to reset an internal drive to external
Asher Schwartz posted a topic in Storage Devices
What is the best way to reset an internal drive as an external. I swapped my HDD out for an SSD on this computer and I am just wondering the best way to reset the HDD to get the full potential back as one drive and not a couple of different volumes. -

I recently purchased a PasswordResetKey and I was so excited to use it but I am having some trouble. When I plug it I went to my BIOS and enable boot from external device but it didn't work. When I go to the menu to choose it as a boot drive it's not registered on there! I am doing on this on a hard drive with Windows Vista OS. I don't use this hard drive but I've always wanted to get some old pictures off it so I put it in my Sony Vaio Laptop. The main error I was getting was something to do with bootmgr. Any help would be awesome, thanks!

I'm trying to reset my system for little bit more effective. I saw an option called "keep my files" saying "removes apps and settings, but keeps your personal files". So anyone know what exactly will be removed and what will be kept? Like I have C for system, D for apps, E for games, and F for musics, movies and some drm free games, what will be removed?

Hey all! Last night I chose to reset windows on a laptop that I was going to sell. I went into the reset option, chose "remove all files & clean drive," and let it go on it's merry way, having done this before. One small problem- I left a logitech unifying receiver for a mouse in the USB port, which seemed to have led to the install being stuck on 1% when I woke up this morning. I left for work and it was still on 1% when I got back, even having removed the USB device. So I did something I was scared to do but couldn't think of another option- cold shut down the laptop. Well, now it says "windows install failed, click OK to restart this PC and install windows" and whenever it restarts, that message shows up again. So I seem to be screwed in an infinite loop. Short of sending it back for warranty repair, what can I do about this? Has anyone else been in this situation? Thanks in advance.

I never even considered this as an option until someone pointed it out to me. I have a brand new board (well, I bought it used but the original owner bought it new). I have been having intermittent trouble with the board resetting itself after the system is shut down, and now it is doing it without fail every single time. It lasted a week or so of being ok, and on installing a new GPU is where my issues started, i.e. after the PC was disconnected from the wall. On power up, the LEDs revert back to their default static red, and entering the BIOS says 'BIOS settings have been reset, press ok to continue.' After a Reddit user mentioned CMOS, I did have a look at the battery, and it looked... well, not new, put it that way. It is definitely a little scratched up and worn. Is it possible that a bad battery went into the board on its initial manufacture? At first I thought it was an unstable OC, but reverting to stock does nowt either! Can send any more info if needed, but I'm almost convinced (as odd as it sounds) that the CMOS battery is to blame.

Recently, my dad helped upgrade my grandmother to a new iPhone. My sister doesn't have money for a new phone, so we were going to let her have the old iPhone 5. The problem is that my grandmother doesn't remember her Apple ID password, and the email was registered with a domain that no longer exists. Is there any way to factory reset the phone without the account password and without being able to send a "forgot password" email to the one registered with the account?

Hi All, Here is my setup: 1) HP EliteBook 8540 running win-7 1) TripleHead2Go Analog (herein referred to as T2GO) 3) HP e230t monitors I just purchased these 3 new monitors for my station at work. I hooked them up through the T2GO with VGA out of the Laptop. The display's were functioning and chose a lower resolution due to the inadequacy of the laptop's GPU. Everything was appearing on the screen, but it was all stretched horizontally. I think it was giving a 4:3 ratio to these 16:9 monitors. I opened the default "screen resolution" window and tried to dial it back a little in hopes that I could at least make the ratio correct. All of the screen went black and never came back. (laptop AND externals) I can't seem to find a solution to this Here are the things I've tried: Reboot No change Unplug VGA from Laptop Laptop Display works normally Monitors unplugged from T2GO, T2G0 plugged into Laptop Black screens all around One external monitor plugged directly into Laptop Works as expected. Now, I know that the change in resolution that I set is stored SOMEWHERE in the registry. What I want to do is remove it. I want the computer to essentially 'forget' that it ever saw the T2GO. I am familiar with the command prompt and Python 3 and am comfortable modifying registry keys. Can someone please help me figure out which keys these are and in what fashion they need to be altered? Thanks!

I am trying to do a reset on my Windows 8.1 custom PC. I am at the phase where I have the media things downloaded on a flash drive and am nearly ready to go. However, I am confused as to whether I will need the product key or not. I have read a bunch of different articles, all of them saying different things. I don't have access to my product code, as my younger cousin peeled off the sticker and ate it when he got angry with me. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I recently installed cloudready 's chromium os on my laptop. used it for a while and now it seems that its just not enough for my usage. I tried installing Windows 10 and during the installation i saw that chrome os has created 27 partitions of my SSD. Also there's no response from Cloudready forums regarding this, I followed the steps mentioned on their site but it's not uninstalling. Now how do I reset this laptop and remove all those partitions from my SSD so I can install win10.

Hello, I have a Blusens TV (I think It's a local brand from Spain) that works perfectly. Somehow there is a mode called "energy saver" that turn down the display but not the TV itself, just the panel. I turned it by accident and now whenever I turn on the TV, the panel just down inmediately because the "energy saver" mode is still enabled. So imagine that as PCs, TVs storage all the setting on a memory powered by a battery (some kind of CMOS), so opened the in search of any kind battery to remove and then put back it. But I didn't see anything. I don't what to search for really and there is no other way to reset the TV since I can't see what is going on in the menus (which I can open since the TV can start). My final solution is to make random movements on the TV's menus till I manage to reset it. Any ideas on what to search for to reset it "via hardware" or another solution? Thanks

Hi smart people on the net. So, I have an issue with an older laptop. I am building a basic media center for my home using an older laptop mobo (Toshiba L50-a0383) I have the motherboard, RAM, HDD, CPU, Cooler, Battery, and screen. When I try to boot the system it displays Low RTC Battery - Press F2 to change Date and Time. I have no Keyboard connected to the inner port, so I cannot press F2. There is nothing that I can do and it seems that I have no input methods, other than a small button which instantly kills the power, and the on/off switch. What I have tried: - Removing the Battery and the CMOS and boot up the system (nothing) - Removing the hard drive and inserting a bootable USB in all the ports (nothing) - Connected to a network via network cable (nothing picked up) - Hold down the reset button 10+ seconds (nothing) - Hold down the on/off button 10+ seconds (nothing) - Hold down both buttons (nothing) - Replaced CMOS battery with brand new battery (nothing) - Plugged in a Microsoft std Keyboard (seems like it didn't even get power) - Plugged wireless Keyboard (no signal) tl;dr So my question is; how can I reset this Mobo to reconfigure the time/date settings or BIOS without the use of a keyboard.. Any suggestions welcome!

Hey guys. Recently I've had a long Skype conversation... about 45 min. And after these 45min PC restarted. And then after 3 sec again... I waited 10 mins and ran my PC. It worked 5min and again, the restart. After long troubleshooting I found out that everything's fine when PSU is OUTSIDE the case (now using it this way). Is my PSU (Fortron FSP350 60GLN) faulty? I suspect shortcircuit inside, but how come that it happened so spontaneously? I put HD7770 about month ago, everything was stable until this Skype talk. I used it with G3258 MSI 81M and HD7770. Thanks for reading.

Ive set my overclock to +125 on the clock, and +350 on the memory, but when im in game for example pubg, and check the clock ratio it says 1350 or something, but when i re-adjust my clock to 0 and then back to +125, the clockspeed says 1454, why is that ? Ive set the apply oc on startup, and ive linked the powerlimit to 91c.

My computer will only boot and work if the jumper is placed at 2+3 position(i.e bios reset position) and won’t turn on after loading optimized settings and setting the date then putting the jumpet to its normal 1+2 position. I’ve a Msi 945GCM7 motherboard and i don’t have much knowledge about the system and jumper positioning( i only followed the internets methods and still cannot figure out) The pc works fine when putting the jumper at 2+3 position but i get thrown to the screen where it says cmos setting not correct. As per my diagnosis the problem is with the motherboard and no other hardware.
