Hello, It's that time of the year when I get to pick a gift for myself and I have decided on a laptop. I will use it for video editing and some gaming but not that much. Basically I want a portable workstation since I use my camera quite often and I am not always home. I thought of the new MacBook Pro but discarded it because of the comments I saw at an earlier threat about the MacBook vs Razer blade. So I saw the new Razer blade and fell in love with it. It's lightweight and powerful but are there any competitors that are worth considering? Thank you very much!

Hi, i'm currious as to how exactly usb-c video adapters/dongles work. i'm in need of a new laptop and the razer blade(14 inch 2017) is looking like the best option for me, only problem is that i need gigabit ethernet and a VGA port for a external touschreen. to tackle this problem i'll have to get a dongle but this got me wondering how exactly the video is processed. is there a separate GPU/video chip inside the dongle that takes care of this or will the gtx 1060 inside the blade processes the video and then somehow send it out through usb-c and let the dongle convert it to VGA? the dongle i'm looking to get is the dell DA200. http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=sg&l=en&s=bsd&cs=sgbsd1&sku=470-abnl if anyone has experience whit this dongle or another one that features gigabit ehternet and VGA i'd love to hear it.

Hey everyone, I'm currently in the market for a new laptop and I'm having trouble deciding between these two machines I see pros and cons for each but I want to here what y'all think I should do. I'm considering in between the 15 inch macbook pro and the 4k razer blade. Here are the specs of the two I'm considering: 15 inch Macbook Pro Razer Blade Macbook Pro Pros: 1. I like macOS 2. I'm already in the apple ecosystem with my phone, and my air. 3. I love the way it looks and the touch bar. 4. I love how it has future proof ports. 5. My school is mainly on Macs, so it works well with that. 6. Great support, I can just take it to my local apple store. Cons: 1. Expensive for hardware 2. Lesser graphics 3. Not a variety of ports 4. Thermal Throttles 5. Not touch screen 6. Price Razer Blade Pros: 1. Better graphics 2. Touchscreen 3. Looks very nice 4. More than one type of port. 5. Runs windows which means greater program compatibility. 6. Works with external graphics cards. 7. RGB Cons: 1. Not as tightly integrated with my phone. 2. Only one thunderbolt three port. 3. Not as good of support 4. No imessage or any other apple service.

Hi, I am in the market for a new laptop and I am stuck. I don't know what to buy. I need a laptop that is portable and powerful. I am a currently in college, but cost doesn't matter. I primary use the laptop for school work, and some gaming(but I have a desktop for that), some examples are "tying papers" and programming in Visual Studio and programming Arduinos. However I do want to use the laptop for some gaming-on-the-go. So I need atleast 16gigs of ram, a 512gb storage and dedicated graphics and the screen size to be at least 13in to 15in. Battery life is important but not crucial as long as I have at least 4-5hrs that's perfect. What do you just think! I'm personally leaning towards the Razer or Aero 15! Thanks!

If you had about $1700 for a laptop, would you consider a manufacturer refurbished late 2016 razer blade w/ 512gb SSD, or a used late 2016 mbp 15 w/ more SSD capacity on it? I’m currently in the architecture faculty therefore will need it to perform tasks in programmes such as Vectorworks, rhino etc -beautifully- if I may ask. Im used to both systems and I have a desktop pc setup at home, so I’m opting for a considerably powerful laptop with great portability to work on my stuffs anywhere i go, while having potentials to last for another 2 or so years in the future. I dont plan to game on it as i dont game that often anymore. I do realise that i have quite a tight budget considering the specs im opting for.

So have a strange project on my hands. I have a new functioning 2016 Razer Blade, and a totally dead but still cosmeticly in tact Razer Blade. Basically I want to take the broken Blade and Re-anodize it to be either a space gray color or a darker silver color. If this isn't as feasable I'm ok with powder coating but basically I want to give the blade the look of the Razer blade stealth gunmetal. What I'm wondering is if anyone knows of a place I can get this done. My father is a carpenter and I have tools on heand to sand and polish down to what is needed to anodize, but after that I have no idea where I could send it to anodize. Would anyone here be able to help me out? P.S. I KNOW THIS WILL VOID WARRANTYS

Can I use an e-gpu with a razer blade or razer blade stealth without buying a razer core or something like that? So I was looking for parts to build my pc, since all I have right now is a laptop with a 3630QM and a GT 630M. My budget was around 700-ish bucks and I wanted to squeeze every inch of performance out of it. I found out that I couldn't go higher than a 1060 6GB which was a bummer. I thought I could sell my laptop and buy the pc, but that wouldn't work since I need my laptop. I started looking around for laptops and a used razer blade with a 1060 at around a 1000$ was the best option I could find. But I said to my self, for the same amount of money I could build a pc with a 1080 in it. So I saw that the 2014 razer blades and all the razer blade stealth laptops don't have a gpu and I could find one for around 500-600$ US. SO now my question is, if I were to buy one of those, would I have to buy a razer core to get an external graphics card, or would I be able to do it some other way? Thanks in advance!

Ok, so I was looking at getting the ASUS ROG GL502VS (1070), but It just seems Thick w/ a small boot drive. So I got to thinking. I already have a Razer Core for my blade stealth, even though I dont really use it much. So, Why dont I just get a Blade(14 inch) and get a GTX 1070 for my core? The things I value in a laptop are portability power, so , Having the 1070 when Im @ my house for VR and video Editing, and Having The 1060 6GB while im @ lan parties and friend's houses. I need the laptop while Im @ My house to be able to run an HTC Vive, Video edit/Render, and play Games on a 1440p Ultrawide External monitor. I would love to hear your feedback And no, Im not building a desktop, I want One laptop for everything.

So, I just want to start off by saying that I have considered buying the new macbook with touchbar. But after looking around at other options I really would want something with better specs. I have landed on the newest razer blade 14" with the updated i7-7700HQ . I would prefer to stay under 3500 €. I need this laptop to be portable and have good enough specs for programming/IT work. It wouldn't if it could handle some light gaming but it doesn't have to be a "gaming" laptop. Primarily thin, light, portable and good specs.

Hello All! I must return one and I cant decide what to keep, got an open box deal on the stealth pro at 1850 and the razer was 1800. both are 1060 pascal and i7-6800HQ cpu. There are definite pros and cons to both, and I couldn't find the QHD+ on amazon so I went with FHD, as everyone said this was the better choice anyway (although I must admit, not having a touch screen and coming from the surface pro 3 makes it weird, I keep touching my screen LOL). If I keep the razer, most likely ill be grabbing the razer core at some point and throwing a 1070 or 1080 in there, and I already have a 4k LG ultrawide display, keyboard and mouse setup for using at my desk. I did a search already and found a similar topic, but everyone bantered away about cooling and ended up comparing the phantom pro (not stealth pro) to the razer blade (which I can see why, its a more direct comparison) Here's the dealio, I have both and I must make a return to amazon within a week. ****USE CASES**** Gaming on the go, occasionally, or from bed. work, work, work, travel, etc. I have a chronic pain condition and spend a lot of time in bed until its fixed, so this is my main device for computer needs atm. It should be noted that I have a desktop: - i5-2500k OC'd to 4.5ghz, could push harder - ASUS ROG Strix 1070 GTX gpu - ASUS Sabertooth z77 mobo - 32GB corsair 1333 ddr3 ram - SSD for windows - Samsung EVO SSD (forget what model, 2 years ago) 256gb for gaming - Seagate 7200rpm 1tb HDD for whatever the fuck else data I need to store - Thermaltake level10GT snow edition case, best ever. fucking love the hot swappable hard drive bays and the quick removable dust pans - Corsair Gold whatever big powersupply - stuff I have three monitors and a TV that COULD be used, although at the moment I'm just using the 4k Ultrawide for this and my desktop (LG 34" I spoke to before, the 2560xwhatever version of the LG 34" ultrawide is sitting in the closet, an apple thunderbolt which I'm occasionally using for my MacBook air, and a Samsung 46" LED smart tv (7600 series I believe) GS73VR 4k: Pros: - huge screen, beautiful display - love the keyboard - keys are very nice to type with - 256gb SSD backed with a 1TB 7200 RPM HDD is nice - better I/O by far - I actually enjoy the MSI dragon app for iPhone and Laptop itself for controlling OC on GPU and the fans, its nice to do a kb shortcut and run various fan speeds - numpad, I love me some numpad, I don't like 10key less keyboards. - build quality is nice! - the look is classy, its like a brushed, dark titanium with an Italian sports car logo vibe Cons: - battery life is HIDEOUS, less than 1h even just browsing the web at low brightness - size, somewhat, it doesn't bother me YET but the last time I had a 17" notebook was the MacBook pro, and my biz partner got the 15.4, I was envyous - speakers, horrible. - kb lighting is 3 zone - at 4k resolution, not EVERY app will scale. that's a sacrifice for having a 4k screen I guess (and reduced battery life) New Razer blade: Pros: - build quality is NICER - dbrand makes skins, I know its cosmetic but I love this - 256gb ssd is pretty fast, 1gb read and 800mbps write. - razer core is an option - keyboard is very nice, its lesser travel for sure, and lighting on each key wins. So, keyboard lighting wins, keyboard feel and layout on stealth pro is better for me. - battery life is significantly better, several hours off charger at full brightness - speakers are better than the MSI - it seems to boot faster than the MSI, but I'm not actually sure, so.... yeah Cons: - keyboard is 10keyless - no backup hdd, 256gb SSD was the only option in stock, and for 300 dollars I could buy the PCiE Samsung EVO (not pro, might go pro anyway) 500gb with 2.8gb read and 1.8gbps write (which is what the upgrade to 512gb ssd was anyway, for a lesser SSD). - when I replace the SSD, and I inevitably will have to, it will void the warranty - razer core logo on back with FHD is not controllable thru chroma app, which means I have to order the dbrand skin, which I would do anyway. - arrow keys are an odd layout, but I never use these anyway - Synapse is not as cool as MSI Dragon, and I don't think it controls the GPU cooling or OC either) - not 4k, but the FHD is a very nice display and I'm not quite sure I really need 4k, although I am going to use a 4k monitor, so having to adjust display settings when I plug into my desk setup everytime (or at least check to make sure its set correctly) is annoying GS63VR 1080P/FHD Stealth pro 15.4in 256gb SSD+1tb HDD Pros: same as the stealth pro above but more compact size, I haven't used one personally, but saw in the store. very nice size. Cons: same as the stealth pro above most likely

Hi About 3 weeks ago I ordered The New Razer Blade 1060 from B&H NYC. Its came defective with screen flickering so unfortunately return it. The problem is that they don't have it on stock for around 2 weeks already and they even doesn't know when it will be on stock . Thinking to purchase the MSI GS63VR 4K version instead. Need a powerful laptop for VMware and sometimes for gaming. What you will choose between the two ? Thank you.

So I am looking at buying a razer blade 14, but looking at the razer website, they are only selling the full hd model with no touch, in Australia at least. Does anyone know whether razer is actualy selling the touch enabled model in Australia?

Alright, here are some thoughts on the next Razer Blade 14 (2017/GTX 1060): First, i want to know how bad the thermals would be if the screen was bigger and the bezels smaller. So how about a 14,6 inch in the same form factor. Secondly, in reagards to I/O, on the left: Magnetic Charger/2xUSB 3.1 Type A/ Headphone+Microphone Jack-rIght:2xUSB3.2 Type-C with thunderbolt 3 support/SD Card Reader. Third, please copy apple already and make it freaking huge and at least a 80Whrs battery on the thing and make it a few millimeters thicker. Last but certainly not least, the specs:Intel core i7 7820HQ @ 3.9ghz/GTX 1060/up to 32 Gb Ram and a up to 2 Tb NvME SSD, with an optional m.2 ssd socket. Working on making some photos on my ideas,it will take a couple of days more, but in the meantime feel free to leave your own ideas, and if anyone is savvy enough post your own photo of your ideal new Razer blade.

Whats up guys, new to the LTT forums... just looking for some use-based recommendations. Heres the deal, Ive always had 17" gaming laptops for my job, always, and finally I've decided my backs had enough traveling with them, so I ordered a 2017 Razer Blade 14" Whats a good bag that will protek, but ultimately will be a nice sleek change from massive 4 zipper bags I was having to shop for my 17" Bonus points for cross body strap options.

Like the title says, I launched afterburner to see temps and such and I noticed that about every 10 seconds on the dot I get a notification saying "Connection to GPU 1 lost." This is followed by a steep drop on the charts to "0" for all readings on GPU 1, which is then followed by a rise again to normal readings. Now normally I wouldn't consider this such a problem considering that my laptop is running still running software-wise just fine. However, 2 days ago my HDMI port stopped working. All pins look just fine in the port and the cable definitely still works. Since I used afterburner about 1 week ago and it was just fine, I am assuming that these two are somehow linked. Does anybody know what the problem could be or how I could fix it? Or if it is even a problem at all? Thank you for your help ?

Hello everyone!i'm new on the forum, nice to meet you! i'm searching for a new laptop for graphic design and 3d modelling work after my loyal Asus X555 started dying on me, hope you can help me! My budget is around 2000€, i'll be purchasing from France I'm looking for a thin and light 15.6" laptop, as i would be taking it with me to college very often Full HD (1920x1080) with good sRGB coverage (min 90%) 512GB of storage or more 16GB of Ram or more I mostly use the adobe suite (PS/AI/ID/XD/AE) and cinema 4d (sometimes 3ds max too) I also plan to use it for some casual gaming (say AAA rpgs like witcher, assassin creed or the upcoming cyberpunk 2077 at med-high settings with decent fps) Can last at least 4h on casual web surf / writing text on MS Word and streaming netflix on say 75% brightness i did some research on thin and light gaming laptops on my side, and managed to narrowed it more or less to the Razer blade 2019 and MSI P65/GS65 8RF , i found both at a local re seller for ≈2000€ (for the Razer blade 15 Rtx2070 Max-q,16GBRAM,512GB) and 1730€ (for the P65 8rf (Gtx2070 Max-q,16GBRAM,512GB), but i read some pretty terrible thing about both on reddit and such (poor build quality for the msi, and poor QC that may lead to random failure and pretty high temps for the razer).i would be really grateful if you helped me choose between the two or if you can suggest to me another recommandations that would fit my needsThanks!

Hey guys, looking for a laptop that is sufficient for my mobile DAW and premiere/after effects needs. I guess 1660 / 2060 ish does it. (apart from premiere, its mostly CS and LoL). I wanna switch to single device, so it'd have to replace my ipad pro as well. So I guess im looking for a 120 / 144hz razer blade 15. but is there a laptop thats basically that, but 2in1, with a pen as well? I use the pen for marking up and taking notes on thousands of pages in adobe acrobat. It doesnt need to be an ultra book, but shouldnt be too bulky and "gamery looking". I post this here, since I couldnt find any product like that (lenovo, msi, razer etc). So its kinda like a question about the market in general. Do you think my use case is just too rare? (needing 2in1, to actually hand write on the laptop; but the latter is also like a creator machine) Thanks for your time, Chris!

Hey Guys, I'm currently upgrading from the old Razer Blade to the new RTX Line. But while checking the different configurations I noticed that the 2060 is a "normal" Laptop 2060 and the 2070 (and 2080) are max Q designs. I looked for a comparison chart and found this: https://www.notebookcheck.net/GeForce-RTX-2070-Max-Q-vs-GeForce-RTX-2060-Laptop_9611_9581.247598.0.html And judging from that Notebookcheck Comparison, the 2060 Version is as powerful as the 2070 or even stronger. Is that correct? Am I missing something? I'm looking to game and do some Photo editing on it.

Welcome friends and tag along with me while I tell you this fantastic tale of Razer fucking me over! It all starts after being a broke Razer fan years ago and all of the sudden having enough money to buy a laptop that not only looks cool but performs well in a very compact package. So I bought a Razer Blade late 2017 with a GTX 1060 and a 7700 hq professor. Life was good! It was like driving a super car. Everyone wowed at the keyboard and hundreds of Mac owners asked if their Mac could do that. However a couple weeks ago while I was typing a FUCKING Word document my laptops display went black in a weird way, keyboard changed color and the fans went berserk. I tried to give it a minute and nothing. Then I thought “stupid thing crashed” and held down the power key so it could be rebooted. Surprise, the only that that happened was a faint light coming from the capslock button! I waited for morning to give Razer a call and solve it however when morning came I was told to boot into bios which I could not accomplish as my PC was “dead”. No matter what I tried I just could not get it to work. After a small search on the web I found out that many owners had the exact same thing happen to them and that it all comes back to being a design flaw. Funny thing is I was out of warranty and the Razer tech support guy called Kahlil told me to pay a fee to get the computer to the US and asses the problem... I insisted they cover it sinse it is a design flaw and guess what? Apparently their policies say that EVEN if it is a Razer design flaw they are not responsible after my warranty ended... I gave them hell and no matter what I said I got the same “fuck you” like answer back. People bitch and moan about Mac, but I had a 2013 15 inch MacBook and in 2017 I took it to the shop because of a display issue and they gave me free repairs because of a design flaw. Then after the computer broke again they gave me a new one. So the morale of the story is fuck Apple, but super fuck Razer. Now I have a 3000 dollar brick

I bought a refurbished 2018 Razer Blade from eBay (in hindsight, probably a bad move) that was initially working fine out of the box. However, a month into using it, some keys on the keyboard were either not registering any input at all or were registering multiple keystrokes at once (mainly on the left side). This occurred after I had initially wiped the keyboard with a alcohol-damp (not wet) microfiber cloth, allowed to air dry, and later plugged in a Microsoft XBox USB controller adapter. I noticed the keys became unresponsive after trying to use the XBox controller, so I uninstalled the driver. That didn't work. I turned off the laptop for a full 48 hours to allow any residue to fully dry, but that too didn't work. Since the laptop was basically a fresh install, I even reset the Windows 10 installation, fully updated, but no luck. An external USB keyboard works fine, however. I'm stuck as to what to do next. Has anyone else had a similar problem with this laptop? What have you tried or are your recommendations? Thanks!
