Okay, this is my first "please dear god help me" post since I've exhausted all other options and i desperately need help so forgive the word-vomit that might follow: Basically, my Media Server of 6 months randomly restarts, has all the symptoms of a faulty PSU yet has passed every stress test I've thrown at it and can vary in it's uptime. Sometimes it's a few days, but typically it doesn't stay consistently up for longer than that. I know it's a hardware problem because I initially thought it was software, I went to wipe Ubuntu and just go Windows but as I clicked on edge to install Plex, the server shutoff and restarted. Despite all of my digging through logs on both Linux and Windows I can't seem to find anything that signals what caused the shutdown. I've run the thing through countless stress tests for hours on end intermittently for months, testing RAM, CPU, the integrated GPU and just today i left it running for 6 hours on OCCT testing the Power Supply. Voltage rails were consistent and I'm all out of options, frankly. At this stage, it's gotta be either the Motherboard or the PSU but i don't have the disposable income to just buy another motherboard and hope that fixes it. What's worse is I have no way of triggering it!! So frustrating! The server can handle 100% load for 6+ hours but it'll randomly shutoff whether it's transcoding videos for Plex or just running at idle. The most I've been able to discern is that sometimes if it's been sitting there for hours and I go to one of my web services that's running on the machine, I assume the sudden action causes the thing to freak out and shut down. And then about a week ago, the thing shutoff at some point (not sure how long it was down for) and didn't turn back on! I thought the PSU was dead, tested the server with a spare dell 250W PSU i have to test the motherboard and it booted! But then, just to see, when i pulled the PSU out i plugged it back in to double check and to my surprise it worked! That's what prompted the 6+ hour test on the PSU via OCCT, left it running when I went to work and came back to a perfectly stable system.... I guess my question is, has anyone had problems similar to this, is there anyway I can test the motherboard, maybe some stress tests i'm missing that might be more appropriate or am I really just stuck in the fact I've gotta buy another motherboard, hope it stays up for more than a week and then see if i can get the warranty back on the current motherboard? I've never had this much of a problem troubleshooting a PC and it's been immensely frustrating, I appreciate any help at all!! Ryzen 7 3800x X570 UD Be Quite straight power 10 PSU Seahawk 1080 GPU F20 bios Hi all, I am trying to diagnose a weird CPU Overheat shutoff situation with my streaming PC. Most of the time the PC runs fine at idle and under load with no problems at all. Then Randomly, sometimes days apart, the CPU Cooler just STOPS. I have had this occur with 2 different stock coolers (wraith prism) and a brand new H80i V2. There are no dump files in windows/minidump The mobo, cpu and coolers are new The issue is intermittent and I can't trigger it consistently I don't know how to log it and it happens very quickly so the pump on the h80 (usb header) seems (guessing) to be stopping as well as the Fans (CPU Fan Header) or it shouldn't overheat at idle if the pump is still running right? Any help would be appreciated muchly, Dingo. -
Hi! So, I've been having this problem for a while with my new PC (8 months, at max), it shuts down with no apparent reason, at random, and, also at random, sometimes it tries to restart, other times it just shuts down, although the power button still has the LED on. Due to what I could gather over the research I've made, it appears to be the PSU, nonetheless, im having a bad time admitting that due to three factors, First, the PSU is known to be reliable; Second, it is brand new; Third, the shut down only happened in idle situations, or internet browsing, it only happened in gaming on, at most, 5% of the times. I was considering formatting the pc, and getting a clean start, but the last time it happened I was on the BIOS, thus, I don't understand if the windows can still be a possible cause. I had the PC on for over 4 days now, on suddenly it started to show the symptoms again, last time was about some time ago, and I thought I've had fixed by clearing the CMOS and removing one fan from the PC. Note: This problem appeared out of nowhere, I don't recall a hardware change that may have caused it. Reseated the GPU, and Memories. I would really love all the help you guys could give me, Im still able to swap parts on RMA, and I need to understand if the reason behind this is hardware to that end.

2 days ago gta started giving me some freezes. They usually are up to 1 second long and there are no patterns to the time they are apart. 2 days prior the game ran fine without a problem the only thing that changed was that windows finally installed the 2004 update. I tried verifying the game files and it did install some direct X stuff but the freezes stayed. Now I'm reinstalling the game but I doubt it will help since I tried 2 different installs (epic and Rockstar). I'm thinking about uninstalling the latest windows update but I don't know if that is worth it and if it will even work since many ppl don't have any problem with the 2004 update. My specs are: Intel core i7 4770 @~4,1GHz (base clock oc problem persists without oc) Asus GTX 1060 EOG STRIX O6G 32GB CRUCIAL BALLISTIX DDR3 RAM Asus Z97-K R2.0 Game is installed on a hdd, No thermal throttling, Game usually runs at 60fps then freezes and, goes back to 60, Massive drop in cpu usage when freeze appears (from 50-70% to 5-15% usage by the game itself, cpu usage is most the time at 80-90% then drops to ~20%, cpu sometimes hits 100% usage right before the freeze but it happens at 80% usage a couple times so it seems random) Gpu usage is very low at 25% since I lowered the settings and even that usage drops a bit, but sometimes it spices right before the freeze. Bought an 860 EVO few months ago and I have noticed random freezes... I looked it up online and I found out that Samsung drives and old AMD motherboards doesn't go well together (something about AMD SATA controllers not completely compatible or something). I only saw people complaining about this but have not read any solution other than to change the AMD SATA controller to the standard Windows one (it kinda worked... had less freezes). Does anyone here know how to completely fix this? or am I just screwed till I upgrade? The problem: After a motherboard change I started getting random framedrops in GTA V. Now, after some time analyzing, I have found that the framedrops seem to occur only in performance-hungry games like GTA V and Arma 3. Also, they do not seem to depend on what I am doing in the game. Every minute or so the game starts to give me about 5 FPS with the frames lagging behind the actual game. Then, after about 10 seconds, everything goes back to normal. The framedrops usually start when I've been in the game for about 10 minutes. The (non-) fixes: I updated the drivers. I tried changing the motherboard back. I tried both motherboards with both graphics cards. I changed the hard drive (but it's a mirror). I tried reinstalling windows. I looked into the thermals because the problems only started after some time, but they peak at around 50°C for the CPU and 65°C for the GPU. I installed a dedicated PhysX-card. Non of those worked. The system (nothing is overclocked): CPU: AMD FX8350 GPU: Palit GTX 970 PhysX: Palit GTX 750ti MoBo: ASRock 970 Extreme3 RAM: 24GB DDR3 (2\*8 from the same manufacturer on 1 and 2, 1\*8 on 3) PSU: 730W Xilence XP730RS HDD: 2TB Display connection: DVI from card to VGA at the monitor CPU cooling: Coolermaster Seidon 120V push-pull (out) Case fans: 4 (3 in, 1 out) Some more stuff like USB cards and card readers Please help! I'm at the end of my knowledge. The bad quality amplifies the effect, in reality the game is still somewhat playable.

Just built a PC out of some used parts (cpu, mobo, ram) and my own used parts, and I can't get past post or loading Windows from a cd as it randomly shuts off. I've already reset the CMOS which allowed me to get into the bios but I only get about 10-15 seconds in there before it shuts down again. The hard drive and PSU I can vouch for as definitely working though the HDD needs formatted. The GPU (gtx560) was sitting in my closet for about 3 years, but I tested a 100% working GPU in the system and had the same random shutdown. The Ram is 1366 ddr3 dual channel which I tested in a working rig and dxdiag acknowledged all 8gbs. I've even tried booting without the dvd drive and kB/m in and it still shuts down. There is a wireless card installed which I haven't tried booting without (because getting the antennae off was a real pita...) But if anyone thinks that's a plausible culprit I will try that. Cpu is i5 760 and mobo is gigabyte something usb3 (I can't check ATM sry) it's the one with the usb power boost feature. Any ideas would be great thanks.

I have a problem where randomly my computer will blank red screen of death. I googled for ages looking for solutions and tried to interpret the errors it threw out in event viewer but I have had no luck. I don't believe its the GPU as its a fairly new card and its not always under load when I get the RSOD. I will attach all the info I have below. let me know if you have any ideas! Specs: MOBO-- ASrock Z75 pro 3 CPU-- i7-3770k @ 4.6Ghz (stable) GPU-- Asus RX 560 strix (no custom overclock, less then a year old) OS-- WIndows 10 Pro on a 250GB mSSD Error (when it shows it, sometimes I get nothing in event viewer): Report.html (hopefully I did that right XD, let me know if its wrong) cant open the MEMORY.DMP file, its to big to open with notepad++ and notepad regular is just a garbled mess let me know if you need anything else

I recently built a new PC and unfortunately I'm getting freezes while playing some more demanding games, pretty sure it's only in 3D games. Screen freezes on a random color like blue, black, white, grey, red, purple etc. after which I always must turn the PC off and on again. I've got a GTX 980TI, Ryzen 1700 and B350 plus as my motherboard. I still have warranty on my PSU and Motherboard, so if the problem cannot be solved, I hope I don't need to buy a new GPU... Things I'm certain about or have tried: - GPU isn't overheating, stays at 50-65°C. - Tried without over- and underclocking as well as with underclocking. - I can play non-demanding games without any problems. - Installed the newest GPU drivers, uninstalled and installed again. - Tried the other PCIe slot. - 750W PSU should be enough. Hello,I have a very weird problem which I haven't been able to solve since 2015, when I built my PC. For internet I use two 500 mbps powerline adapters from TP-link, and an Asus Nighthawk R7000 as router. The powerlines work fine, and the speed is outstanding compared to using regular WiFi. Now, the problem which keeps occurring is that the Ethernet connection randomly switches to 'limited' / 'unidentified network'. This usually happens about 5-30 times a day, but there are days that it doesn't happen at all too. To get it working again, I usually plug out the Ethernet cable and then plug it back in after a minute or so, but it sometimes solves the problem by itself too. The time inbetween the event from happening differs a lot; sometimes it is 3 hours, other times only 5 minutes(!). The time that it shows 'limited network' can vary strongly as well; it sometimes fixes itself in less than 10 seconds, other times I can leave it for an hour, and when I come back it is still not fixed.To make the problem even stranger, it only happens when I am browsing the internet (watching YouTube, doing work for school, etc.), or not using the internet at all (video editing), but when I'm gaming or talking to friends on Discord, I never encouter the problem. Is it possible for the problem to appear, only when there is 'too little' networking going on? I've looked into the power management of the adapter settings already, and nothing seems to affect the problem. When I'm using my laptop with the cable and powerlines, the problem doesn't take place at all, so I'm quite certain that it has something to do with my PC, and not the powerlines or cable.Help would be very appreciated at this point, as I think you can easily imagine how annoying it is having to continually pull out the cable from the back of your PC, so thanks in advance. From time to time my PC will randomly Shutdown with no Blue Screen. It happened only 4 times this year but still quite annoying. Also I noticed when I was shutting down my PC it would come up with a Critical Error in Event Viewer, I Disabled Fast Start Up and this stopped the error occurring upon shutdown.

I have an ASUS K501UX, where the fan will rev to it's maximum RPM, at random, during idle. It just hurls. After a minute or so, if I smack the laptop, it will stop; but in a few minutes it will only rev back up and kill my ear drums (yes, it's that bad). I've tried looking at speed fan, ASUS controls, throttling programs, the BIOS, and I can't control the fan. There is no particular reason I can see, from HWMonitor, that would suggest thermal issues (heck, the laptop can be idling, literally doing nothing on my desk, and it will rev up). I even use the laptop with a cooling fan. This is driving me nuts. Removing the fan didn't help either as I couldn't use the laptop outside of web browsing and movies. Any ideas?

What is creating those giant red "artifacts"? I know it's not normal artifacting, because it can be hidden beneath windows. I'm using the same version of wallpaper engine and the same mild overclock on my 1070 I've been using for months. This version of Windows Insider has also been used by me for more than a month. No new/unrecognized programs are running in task manager. They come and go randomly, sometimes in different places and in different shapes/sizes.

So say for instance on one monitor I am playing a game and on another monitor YouTube is open and have a random background application open, every once and a while every single window except the game freezes, this includes the windows start menu. But after I restart everything is back to normal. This is really annoying as it has happened twice today. BTW the ram doesn't get any higher than 70% but I think it may be the problem anyway. So I've had some concerning issues with my PC recently regarding random freezes and sometimes not booting at all. For some reason whenever I power off my PC and then turn it on the next day it sometimes will not do anything. In order for me to get the computer to boot I have to unplug the PSU plug from the surge protector and plug it back it for it to boot. More recently the computer will just randomly freeze while playing games. I'm assuming it is a power supply issue but I don't know what else could be the cause of the system doing this. My system is overclocked (CPU and GPUs) but they have always been like this and always stable so I don't think that is the problem but it may be. My PC specs: i7-8700k @ 5.0 GHz (Watercooled) ASUS z370e EVGA GTX 1080 FE @ 2025 MHz G.Skill Trident Z RGB @ 3200 MHz EVGA G2 850 PSU CableMod Custom Cable replacement

Can someone please help my friend? His computer randomly just will crash upon no notice and sometimes will just freeze the monitors and everything else will just be still running I am not too sure if this is an overheating issue because this only occurs during high-performance games but also could be an incompatibility issue with the hardware but I have no clue can someone please look at these specs and maybe could detect any issues. Ok I've been having this problem since the first week I build my computer back in December last year. I'll be browsing or playing a game and then I get a weird zapping sound that I hear from my headphones. It happens maybe around once per 3 hours and when it happens, My fps will drop a little and It "buzzes" around for 2 seconds. Things I have tried were, replacing my power supply and GPU, and the problem still persists. I have updated my GPU, CPU, and OS as of today, and the problem persists. If anyone has any knowledge that can help me, It would be appreciated. Few months ago my system started randomly restarting and shutting down (cutting off) so I reinstalled windows and everything was fine until a week back, where it started resetting again and more frequently. Sometimes the monitors cut off and pc is running and I have to hard reset. Sometimes it resets on its own. Sometimes it just cuts off. I noticed that some of the SATA ports on my motherboard stopped working and will at times randomly detect/not detect my HDD. It restarts randomly, sometimes when I'm playing games and sometimes when nothing is running at all. The PC is over 4 years old (GPU 3 years) and I hope its not a motherboard/PSU/GPU issue as warranty has passed. Note that I sometimes run my PC for extended periods of time and it works fine, but it suddenly resets and once it does it resets quite frequently I do not have access to additional GPUs/mobo/CPU/PSU to test. I play overwatch a lot, and I've encountered a reset only once so far. I develop using unreal engine and have encountered more resets while using it. Things I have done : Reinstall OS (again) Run memtest (pass) Remove overclock System Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit Intel i7 4770k @ stock clocks with corsair h100i Asrock Extreme 6AC 4x4GB memory Zotac Nvidia GTX970 120GB SSD Samsung 840 Evo for OS 250GB SSD Samsung 850 Evo for programs 2 TB HDD Seagate ST2000VX003 for data 800w Corsair gs 800

Example: He is playing a game and for 1-2 seconds black screen appears and all in-game sound disappears, after it that, it goes back to normal. This happens not only while gaming, even while just browsing. The frequency is extremely random, sometimes happens more often, sometimes rarely. My friend has i7-7700k, X42 kraken, GTX 1080 ,ASUS crosshair maximums IX z270 (two ram slots are not working) and it has a few bent pins, 2x8GB DDR4 3000MHz ram. I tried: Underclocking CPU, reducing voltage, removing GPU oc - did not help. Increased kraken performance - did not help. Reinstalling Nvidia drivers several times, updating to new ones - did not work. All temperatures are fine. Any tips?

So hello! I could possibly need some help with my computer. It is not really that good though it has been acting strange most recently.. It has recently always been getting random FPS drops, not just in Video Games, but in normal programs like Google Chrome and Discord. It scrolls slowly and it types slowly like if everything just goes at half speed! I don't know why but at first I thought it was my CPU as it is not that great, and perhaps a bit outdated.. Now, I am a complete computer noob for the most sake, so I am basically clueless on what to do really. I've been seeing my GPU just spike up in usage constantly, and then it doesn't matter what games i play, the frames just drops. It does it on older games like my favorite game Age of Empires 2 and it's really frustrating on other games like Battlefield 4 and on Rainbow Six; Siege I SHOULD be able to play these games like normal with my GPU though it could be my CPU slowing everything down, I really don't know!! So, if someone could possibly help me that would be really much appreciated This is what I am able to get with my PC specs; OP; Windows 10 GPU; ASUS GTX 1060 6GB CPU; Intel Xeon W3550 (I think ) RAM; 12GB DDR4

Okay so I constantly wonder who else thinks these blue sand barrels look like bad capacitors? Ever since they got added when Counter Strike: Global Offensive got the new Dust II update I always laugh when I pass by them "Seems like Valve has a faulty motherboard" "They should get the caps checked" "With that much money, can't they afford better caps";friends and I laugh at this quite a bit So .. anyone else seeing the resemblance here .. if I just ruined your perception of Dust II and make you giggle every time you go up on Short .. thank me later! Seems only appropriate to put this in off-topic, since .. well it is probably as off-topic as it's gonna get
