Hi, I'm looking to upgrade the ram on my Acer Nitro 5 laptop (model #: an515-57-919c. Series: an515-57). Specs CPU: i9-11900H GPU: RTX 3060 Storage: 512g SSD RAM: DDR4 16g 3200MHz I am planning to replace my old single ram stick of SK Hynix DDR4 16g 3200mhz with two 32g 3200MHz modules because I will be doing 3D modelling, using Photoshop etc for university and I will need more ram if i'm gonna be using such demanding software. I was hoping to get some ideas on what ram is compatible with my laptop and which brands of ram are worth choosing. Budget isn't an issue but obviously nothing overpriced, I don't want to be paying more for something that offers the same performance as something cheaper. I do live in Australia and want to get my ram from a local business so keep that in mind whern picking out ram. I'd prefer not to order from Amazon (just a personal preference of mine) but if the only compatible ram sticks are available there then I will make an exception. If I forgot to mention anything or if you need further information just let me know. Master Yoshi

Hi, I've encountered this issue and to be honest, I've run out of ideas and other hardware to test with. My system is running Linux (Ubuntu Studio to be exact) but I don't know if this is a problem with the software as I get the same info when booting to a live USB. The Problem: I have installed 4 x 4GB DDR3 1600 9-9-9-24 (matching) sticks. They recognise in the UEFI/BIOS they are detected when running the "sudo lshw | grep -A 8 bank" command in the terminal (output below) however the total memory detected by the OS (or live USB OS) is only 7.5GB. The problem persists with all amounts of RAM above 8GB, including 2x8GB and 4x8GB all at 1600Mhz but lowering speeds or timing makes no difference. In addition, the 8GB sticks are 1.5v and the 4GB sticks are 1.65v so no mixing of capacities has been done. NEW BUILD PROBLEM I am running into an issue where my new build isn’t booting. I built the PC out of scraps from previous builds. All components are good and have been used on previous builds for testing. I put everything together and now my ram and usb devices aren’t being detected. I have gone through every troubleshooting process I can think of and have hit a wall. The only new component I have bought was a new GPU (only purchased because I wanted to check out the 40 series). Here is a list of the systems specs; intel i7 4780k asus z590-a motherboard PNY 8gb RTX 4060 (brand new just purchased) 16gb of ddr4 ram 1.5 tb of storage 700w power supply

So I have been having this issue for the past few months. It's a new system not even a year. The problem: My system randomly shutdown either while playing games, doing some editing work or just sitting idle watching YouTube. It's not only random shutdown, sometimes it's just random reboot. Initially it happened (random reboot or shutdown) only if I did any work which required my GPU like gaming or editing but then it suddenly started working absolutely fine without fixing anything for a week or so. Then the problem surfaced again without wany warning. Things I have done to fix this issue: 1) I have already replaced the motherboard once as the whole system is still under warranty. 2) I have already replaced the CPU. 3) I bought UPS as the place I'm living in witnesses extremely amount of power cuts. I have also noticed whenever there's a random shut down or reboot the Ez Debug DRAM LED on my motherboard stays on. This happens in certain occasions only. On the other hand this LED staying on doesn't happen everytime just sometimes. Also when my system shuts down my keyboard lights are still on indicating keyboard is getting detected but my mouse is not. The whole system is running, the fans are working fine but the display goes. Even my problem is inconsistent. Sometimes it's just a shut down, sometimes it's a reboot, sometimes the display goes away but the system is running, sometimes the DRAM LED is on and sometimes it's not (indicating there's nothing wrong with the RAM). Please I really need some help. I know I might have to replace certain parts but whici one ti be exact. The PSU, RAM or the GPU. So I looked at my computer performance in task manager and was surprised to see that it detects 16GB of ram(2x8GB ddr4 2666mHz) but uses less than half of it (7.9GB), the other part (8.1GB) is Hardware Reserved. It is the second computer I built from used parts. I tried to resolve my issue: I set a limit to how much memory windows can reserve (2GB), restarted and nothing happened, tried removing device drivers I no longer use, reset windows (keeping the files), reset BIOS, cleaned and reseated RAM sticks and still nothing changed... Can I try anything?

Installed new set of RAM (G.Skill Trident Z Neo 3600 Cl16 2x16Gb) and have enabled XMP profile on my mobo/bios, then checked task manager and its still running at 2133. Not sure if task manager is a valid way to check speed and if I'm even setting my Ram speeds correctly, but id like to use it to its specified capabilities. RAM is installed in slots 1 and 3, not sure if that's any use. Lemme know if I'm being dumb or if you've got any fix to this please, in need of assistance! Thanks heaps! Hello, I have a Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBM with 8GB of ram, and today I have bought 2 Crucial 16GB 3200mhz, but after the installation this is what it shows me in task manager: I tried to the benchmark it running a game of PUBG to see if there is any change, but no succes, still at 2400 I tried to activate XMP to use te full speed but I could not find any advanced settings in BIOS. Also, I have just updated to the latest version of the BIOS using Lenovo Ventage but sadly still no results. Does anyone know how to access advanced option in BIOS in order to activate XMP or how to use the full speed of my rams ? I will put some ss of CPU-Z

Hello everyone, I have a recurring problem hope someone has an answer to it, I have built a pc a while ago with 2 sticks of ddr5 ram and after a shutdown 1 of the sticks completely stops working, I changed that ram and same problem, it is only happening with shutdowns not reboots. My pc specs : CPU : Core i5-13600k GPU : 4070 ti RAM : G.Skill Ripjaws S5 DDR5 6400mhz 2x16 GB Cooler : Noctua NH-D15S Motherboard: MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI PSU : MSI A1000G PCIE5 1000 W Case: 5000D Airflow As you can see in the image (sorry it's blurry) this cable is touching the motherboard just where the RAM slots are located, could it have shorted the RAM sticks ? If it doesn't resolve the problem I'm lost since I changed the motherboard already to test things out. Thank you for your time

Budget (including currency): 250€ ± 10% Country: Austria Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming, music production Current System: Intel i5 6600k 16GB DDR4 RAM NVidia Geforce GTX 1070 1080p 144Hz Display Since upgrading to Counter Strike 2, my PC is not able to put out 144Hz anymore. I'm pretty sure I'm bottlenecked by my CPU hence I want to upgrade it. I also do music production and some light CAD work. I would like to sell the current CPU, cooler, RAM and motherboard as 1 combo because I think I will get more money this way (Is this actually true?). I upgraded my laptop to a AMD Ryzen 5 7640U a few months back and would love to also try AMDs desktop offerings, but if an Intel product would be much better I'm also open to that. I would like to have 1 16GB stick of RAM with the option of adding another one in the future. The only real requirement I have for the motherboard is a USB-C port for my Meta Quest 2. Cheers and thanks for any advice in advance!

I recently bought 2 extra sticks of the same RAM i had in my motherboard, increasing it to 32GB with a speed of 3000MHz. Although the capacity shows up correctly, the RAM speed is shown as 900MHz or 1400MHz with game boost and an A-XMP profile on. I've also checked if my mother board is supported for such RAM speeds and it sure is, it says that it could go up to 3200MHz and even more. I've recently done a factory reset wiping all drives and also migrating my OS to a different drive, yet the issue still persists, with game boost and A-XMP my computer also seems to crash sometimes. I have provided a screenshot of CPU-Z RAM currently running + the SPD tab, perhaps the timings or/and voltages ar off. Hello everyone! I've had an issue of black squares randomly appearing on my screen at times for some time now. I don't remember when it started but I've had the issue for at least some months. Good to mention is that I had an outage in december leading to one of my SSD's in my stationary PC to break (showing RAW data) and perhaps possibly this outage could have damaged other components aswell without me knowing. The damaged SSD hasn't been connected to my PC since it got damaged because I haven't had time to look at solutions for it. However this post is about the black squares showing up on my screen randomly. I have all the latest Nvidia, Windows 10, motherboard bios and cpu chipset drivers installed. I've added a image to to demostrate an example of how the black squares could show up. When I move my mouse the squares disappears. I added the squares in paint since I can't screenshot them but they show as solid black ones like in the image provided. Setup: CPU Ryzen 5 5600 (non x version) Motherboard Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite V2 RAM Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB (2x8GB) / 3200MHz / DDR4 / CL16 / CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 GPU Gigabyte GTX 1660 Ti (GV-N166TWF2OC-6GD) Storage Kingston A2000 M.2 250GB, Kingston NV2 1TB PSU Seasonic Focus+ / 550W / 80+ Gold Operating System Windows 10

I have 2 rams, ram "a" and ram "b". Ram "a" works on all slots of my motherboard but ram "b" doesn't. What is weird is that ram b works on other motherboards. Both are from the same brand and same model. I can't figure out why lmao. It has both always been used for the dual channel of my pc. Has anyone had this problem before? Note: Last thing I did with my pc is change my gpu. Things that I have done: • Switch ram "b" to all 4 ram slots (no effect) • try both ram "a" and ram "b" on the other pc (works as intended) • erase both ram with eraser

Hi! The system has 4 sticks of RAM , 8gb each, 2666mhz base and 3200mhz when in XMP profile1. The motherboard is a Gigabyte B550M DS3H rev 1.0, and I update the BIOS from f3 to f18 to address recent security issues. After updating, I noticed right way switching to profile 1 would no longer change the speed of the slots to 3200. I searched around and found a possible solution in this reddit thread. They said to reset the bios, turn off, pull the sticks out, and then put the first on the A2 slot, load the bios and then boot to windows, then turn off again put the second stick to the B2 slot, let windows load again. It worked perfectly for the first two sticks, but when I try the third it won't work anymore. Tried many combinations of sticks and slots with same results. Any ideas what I should do to fix it? Thanks

I'm planning on upgrading my y50-70 from 12gb of ram to 32gb of ram. I found both 1600 MHz and 1866 MHz options for sale. I unsure if the y50-70 can go faster then 1600 MHz as the cpu specs on intel say it supports 1333/1600 MHz. Another thread on this site says there laptop ran at 1777 MHz using 1866 MHz sticks, which seems odd to say the least. Is it bad to run at 1777 MHz would that be unstable? faster/slower? damage my computer? Basically should I get the 1600 MHz or the 1866 MHz and why. Please explain. Thanks! Hello! So i recently did a big upgrade on my rig. New GPU & PSU and then a month later i changed my cpu/mobo/ram. So basically the only thing that didn't change was my M.2 SSD. I consider myself pretty good with computer(except the Bios we have nowadays with a thousand options) but i've never struggled that much after a new set-up. I will list all my PC components down below. When i first launched the upgraded rig nothing worked so i've changed the bios boot option to CSM and then that did the trick. Then after a day i started having a new problem when using all four sticks of ram (64GB total). when i would boot my system i was stuck in a BSOD loop that would attempt to fix itself, then reboot over and over again. So after checking online i went in the bios and enabled Memory Context Restore & enabled Power Down under DRAM menu instead of leaving it in AUTO. And that did the trick, the system would finally boot! Then i did the classic ''sfc /scannow'' & ''DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth'' to fix the remaining minor issues. So now after all that i have yet another problem. Yesterday while simply watching youtube videos i got two BSOD. One at midnight and one at 3 am. Both the same error. After the second one happened i tried the SFC & DISM tricks and then it didn't happen again. But today i decided to play Cyberpunk and during the very first loading screen i had yet again another BSOD with the same exact errors as yesterday. I took some screenshots. I have no idea what to do now. I finally have my dream rig and yet i can't even enjoy it or do the most basic things with it. Please help me, i don't know what to do anymore besides re-installing windows and i don't feel like going through that trouble in case the issue ends up persisting. Thank you! Here's my rig : CPU : AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 12-Core Processor 4.70 GHz MOBO : MSI MPG B650 Carbon WIFI ATX AM5 RAM : (4 x 16GB, so 64GB total) G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) Desktop Memory Model F5-6000J3636F16GX2-TZ5RK GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Storage : Crucial P1 1TB M.2 & Teamgroup T-Force Vulcan Z 1TB PSU : Corsair RM1000x OS : Windows 10 home

A random, perhaps somewhat useless topic on the topic of how modern operating systems manages memory. So first a primer on the history of memory management. That's enough history, let's talk about how memory management works! (or the burning question: why shouldn't I turn off the page file when I got like a bazillion GB of memory?) My gaming PC has been gradually slowing down to a crawl since January and I have not been able to determine a root cause. It will crap out at around 32GB of RAM usage and be at about 35% of the CPU load then on average. Restarting the PC temporarily fixes it. Some programs and games can take a long time to load and have had crashes to desktop. Common programs with high RAM usage include Firefox, Backblaze, Steam, and Bitdefender. No malware has been detected. I have had a few BSOD crashes over the past month, but I'm not sure if any are directly related to the problem. Hardware info is below. I have a Corsair RM850x 850watt 80+Gold power supply.

Hey folks! I'm considering getting a 14700k (or a 13900K or 14900K, depending on whether I find them at a good price). Having already 2 sticks of 16GB each, DDR4-3600 CL16, I'd like to keep them and use them for my new CPU. I could buy 2 sticks of 16GB each, DDR5-6000 CL30, but the first-word latency of those new sticks would be higher than my DDR4 sticks, and according to Linus, that's not a smart move. So my question is: for content creation tasks (essentially video editing), will my DDR4 sticks be enough to run those CPUs? Will I be leaving out a lot of performance?? Thanks for your answers!

Adding new 16Gb ram kit (2x8gb) and now pc won’t post
DarthAviator posted a topic in Troubleshooting
So I decided to double my ram from 16 to 32 GB. I received the new sticks which are identical to the ones I already have, and correctly installed them in the motherboard after fully powering down my system. I go to turn it back on in which all the ram rgb turn on and yet the pc doesn’t post it just displays a black screen. I then removed the new sticks and tried to boot my pc as it was with the sticks I already had in the same slots they were in (2&4). It didn’t post, great. I then spent the next 5 minutes trying different combinations of sticks for it to still not post. I tried clearing the cmos and putting the original 2 sticks in the correct slots and still no post. I went as far as re-seating the cpu before trying combinations of incorrect slots. I did find success with slots 3&4 and individually both 3&4 but as soon as there’s a stick in slots 1 or 2 the pc wouldn’t post and would just display that same black screen. With the success of slots 3&4 I got back into my pc, I downloaded and updated my bios which did not fix the problem. I am very confused by the issues I’m having and am unsure of what to do next. Pc specs: Ram:4 T-force Delta 8Gb sticks at 3200mhz Motherboard: b550 aorus elite ax v2 Cpu: ryzen 5 3600 Psu: Thermaltake gx1 600w Gpu: msi 2060 Yes the ram works but only in slots 3&4 Yes the new ram works with the old ram (new in slot 3 and current in slot 4 and same the other way) Thanks- 2 replies
