  1. Hello, I have a Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBM with 8GB of ram, and today I have bought 2 Crucial 16GB 3200mhz, but after the installation this is what it shows me in task manager: I tried to the benchmark it running a game of PUBG to see if there is any change, but no succes, still at 2400 I tried to activate XMP to use te full speed but I could not find any advanced settings in BIOS. Also, I have just updated to the latest version of the BIOS using Lenovo Ventage but sadly still no results. Does anyone know how to access advanced option in BIOS in order to activate XMP or how to use the full speed of my rams ? I will put some ss of CPU-Z
  2. Hello everyone, I have a recurring problem hope someone has an answer to it, I have built a pc a while ago with 2 sticks of ddr5 ram and after a shutdown 1 of the sticks completely stops working, I changed that ram and same problem, it is only happening with shutdowns not reboots. My pc specs : CPU : Core i5-13600k GPU : 4070 ti RAM : G.Skill Ripjaws S5 DDR5 6400mhz 2x16 GB Cooler : Noctua NH-D15S Motherboard: MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI PSU : MSI A1000G PCIE5 1000 W Case: 5000D Airflow As you can see in the image (sorry it's blurry) this cable is touching the motherboard just where the RAM slots are located, could it have shorted the RAM sticks ? If it doesn't resolve the problem I'm lost since I changed the motherboard already to test things out. Thank you for your time
  3. Budget (including currency): 250€ ± 10% Country: Austria Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming, music production Current System: Intel i5 6600k 16GB DDR4 RAM NVidia Geforce GTX 1070 1080p 144Hz Display Since upgrading to Counter Strike 2, my PC is not able to put out 144Hz anymore. I'm pretty sure I'm bottlenecked by my CPU hence I want to upgrade it. I also do music production and some light CAD work. I would like to sell the current CPU, cooler, RAM and motherboard as 1 combo because I think I will get more money this way (Is this actually true?). I upgraded my laptop to a AMD Ryzen 5 7640U a few months back and would love to also try AMDs desktop offerings, but if an Intel product would be much better I'm also open to that. I would like to have 1 16GB stick of RAM with the option of adding another one in the future. The only real requirement I have for the motherboard is a USB-C port for my Meta Quest 2. Cheers and thanks for any advice in advance!
  4. So I looked at my computer performance in task manager and was surprised to see that it detects 16GB of ram(2x8GB ddr4 2666mHz) but uses less than half of it (7.9GB), the other part (8.1GB) is Hardware Reserved. It is the second computer I built from used parts. I tried to resolve my issue: I set a limit to how much memory windows can reserve (2GB), restarted and nothing happened, tried removing device drivers I no longer use, reset windows (keeping the files), reset BIOS, cleaned and reseated RAM sticks and still nothing changed... Can I try anything?
  5. I recently bought 2 extra sticks of the same RAM i had in my motherboard, increasing it to 32GB with a speed of 3000MHz. Although the capacity shows up correctly, the RAM speed is shown as 900MHz or 1400MHz with game boost and an A-XMP profile on. I've also checked if my mother board is supported for such RAM speeds and it sure is, it says that it could go up to 3200MHz and even more. I've recently done a factory reset wiping all drives and also migrating my OS to a different drive, yet the issue still persists, with game boost and A-XMP my computer also seems to crash sometimes. I have provided a screenshot of CPU-Z RAM currently running + the SPD tab, perhaps the timings or/and voltages ar off. Specs: Ryzen 5 2600X GTX 1660TI GDDR6 6GB MSI B450M BAZOOKA V2 G-SKILL AEGIS 32GB 3000MHZ
  6. I'm looking to buy 32gb of ddr5 RAM with 6400Mhz CL36, would this be good for a i7-13700k or should I go for better timings?
  7. Hello everyone! I've had an issue of black squares randomly appearing on my screen at times for some time now. I don't remember when it started but I've had the issue for at least some months. Good to mention is that I had an outage in december leading to one of my SSD's in my stationary PC to break (showing RAW data) and perhaps possibly this outage could have damaged other components aswell without me knowing. The damaged SSD hasn't been connected to my PC since it got damaged because I haven't had time to look at solutions for it. However this post is about the black squares showing up on my screen randomly. I have all the latest Nvidia, Windows 10, motherboard bios and cpu chipset drivers installed. I've added a image to to demostrate an example of how the black squares could show up. When I move my mouse the squares disappears. I added the squares in paint since I can't screenshot them but they show as solid black ones like in the image provided. Setup: CPU Ryzen 5 5600 (non x version) Motherboard Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite V2 RAM Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB (2x8GB) / 3200MHz / DDR4 / CL16 / CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 GPU Gigabyte GTX 1660 Ti (GV-N166TWF2OC-6GD) Storage Kingston A2000 M.2 250GB, Kingston NV2 1TB PSU Seasonic Focus+ / 550W / 80+ Gold Operating System Windows 10
  8. Hi! The system has 4 sticks of RAM , 8gb each, 2666mhz base and 3200mhz when in XMP profile1. The motherboard is a Gigabyte B550M DS3H rev 1.0, and I update the BIOS from f3 to f18 to address recent security issues. After updating, I noticed right way switching to profile 1 would no longer change the speed of the slots to 3200. I searched around and found a possible solution in this reddit thread. They said to reset the bios, turn off, pull the sticks out, and then put the first on the A2 slot, load the bios and then boot to windows, then turn off again put the second stick to the B2 slot, let windows load again. It worked perfectly for the first two sticks, but when I try the third it won't work anymore. Tried many combinations of sticks and slots with same results. Any ideas what I should do to fix it? Thanks
  9. after upgrading my computer this time. i m facing this unique error which saying this instruction at [0x0000007ff949827DC] can at 0x0000000000000 couldn't be read. from different application. i want to understand what is the issue ? CPU Memory or Motherboard. becoz i need to claim warranty.
  10. I have 2 rams, ram "a" and ram "b". Ram "a" works on all slots of my motherboard but ram "b" doesn't. What is weird is that ram b works on other motherboards. Both are from the same brand and same model. I can't figure out why lmao. It has both always been used for the dual channel of my pc. Has anyone had this problem before? Note: Last thing I did with my pc is change my gpu. Things that I have done: • Switch ram "b" to all 4 ram slots (no effect) • try both ram "a" and ram "b" on the other pc (works as intended) • erase both ram with eraser
  11. It will be used with intel i9 14900ks and Asus Apex Encore Z790(or formula), Which kit wil give me better fps, Or does latency beat mhz Rams: corsair titanium or team group) 7200mhz cl34 Gskill 8400mhz cl40 48gb Or corsair 6000mhz cl30 96gb
  12. I'm planning on upgrading my y50-70 from 12gb of ram to 32gb of ram. I found both 1600 MHz and 1866 MHz options for sale. I unsure if the y50-70 can go faster then 1600 MHz as the cpu specs on intel say it supports 1333/1600 MHz. Another thread on this site says there laptop ran at 1777 MHz using 1866 MHz sticks, which seems odd to say the least. Is it bad to run at 1777 MHz would that be unstable? faster/slower? damage my computer? Basically should I get the 1600 MHz or the 1866 MHz and why. Please explain. Thanks! Intel Core i74710HQ Processor 6M Cache up to 3.50 GHz Product Specifications
  13. Don't worry about the 4070, iam gonna buy the 5090 when available and watercool it, Is the vrm Cooling from EK worth it?
  14. My gaming PC has been gradually slowing down to a crawl since January and I have not been able to determine a root cause. It will crap out at around 32GB of RAM usage and be at about 35% of the CPU load then on average. Restarting the PC temporarily fixes it. Some programs and games can take a long time to load and have had crashes to desktop. Common programs with high RAM usage include Firefox, Backblaze, Steam, and Bitdefender. No malware has been detected. I have had a few BSOD crashes over the past month, but I'm not sure if any are directly related to the problem. Hardware info is below. I have a Corsair RM850x 850watt 80+Gold power supply.
  15. Hey folks! I'm considering getting a 14700k (or a 13900K or 14900K, depending on whether I find them at a good price). Having already 2 sticks of 16GB each, DDR4-3600 CL16, I'd like to keep them and use them for my new CPU. I could buy 2 sticks of 16GB each, DDR5-6000 CL30, but the first-word latency of those new sticks would be higher than my DDR4 sticks, and according to Linus, that's not a smart move. So my question is: for content creation tasks (essentially video editing), will my DDR4 sticks be enough to run those CPUs? Will I be leaving out a lot of performance?? Thanks for your answers!
  16. On Black Friday I bought a few new components for my new PC to complement the other stuff I had been saving for. Bought an Asus TUF Gaming X670e-Plus WIFI, 32 GB of Corsair DDR5-6000, Ryzen 5-7600X,among other things. Out of the gate I had a few issues with the memory as it wouldn't work at 6000 without varying 30-600 second post times. At 4800 it seemed to work normally, but I didn't pay for 4800. I ended up sending the memory to Corsair and they swapped it, although it took a month. Got the memory back, installed it and it's been good until yesterday my design program told me that I only have the minimum amount of RAM (16 GB) and it would recommend 32 GB or more, which is odd because I frequently use it and hadn't seen that message before. I looked in and the AuraSync was working on both modules normally so I fired up CPUID and sure enough it reported that only 1 module was reading. Ok I thought, maybe its loose. Opened the case press the lever back to remove the memory and it falls. The side of the DIMM slot broke and it doesn't securely hold the memory now. Called Asus and the agent said to send to them, if it's fixable it'll cost $200 or they'll charge me $300 for a new one if it's not. My first thought was to grab crazy glue and try to reattach the broken piece even if it worked but I couldn't remove the memory in the future. Then I thought I should ask the forum.
  17. I am building a new PC and I opted for an Asus B650 Proart Creator + Ryzen 7 7800X3D + 2x16 G.Skill Flare X5 DDDR5-6000 as main components. The board is however not recognizing the memory sticks. The Asus B650 lists the Flare X5s on the QVL list, however with a different latency value (The list has CL36, I accidentally bought CL32). Do latency values affect the compatability between RAM, board and CPU that much ? And does this mean I have to order the CL36 version now? Or is there a workaround?
  18. I have a lot of RAM on my machine, but I keep getting various ""Out of memory / Not enough memory" errors despite the RAM itself rarely ever being fully-utilized. Relevant System Specs: OS: 64-Bit Windows 10 Pro CPU: Intel 14900k RAM: 64GB 6600 Corsair Vengange DDR5 MB: MSI ACE Z790 GPU: MSI 3080 Despite having 64GB, utilization never appears to go over 32GB (which I know can be a limit to 32-Bit OS's but I am running 64-bit windows). I've heard that the CPU's iGPU can reserve some system RAM to use as VRAM, but I don't have any monitors running off the iGPU. And I wouldn't expect it to reserve 32GB, most figures I've seen say it would take 2-4GB when in use. I don't fully understand what Windows is doing with RAM under the hood, but could the issues also be related to paging/virtual memory? Looking at the pagefile size, it does appear to be mostly utilized. Shows ~93GB committed out of a 95GB pagefile. I don't know why it wouldn't use more of the available physical RAM since ~32GB are still free Some ideas that I had. Should I: Add even more RAM Bump the 64GB up to 128GB (Though that's more than I need) Though using 4-sticks of DDR5 can be a bit hit and miss (I would almost definately need to reduce the speed) Would have mis-matched kits (since I'm not buying an entire new 128GB kit for ~$500+) If it behaves the same, would it only use 64GB of of the 128GB anyway? The most expensive option Adjust Pagefile Currently I believe Windows put the pagefile on the main C: drive (possibly not ideal due to faster wear on main boot drive if other drives are an option?) Buy a small (e.g 256/512GB) m.2 SSD to dedicate just for paging Move the pagefile to said new drive, increase file capacity to 256/512GB (2.5-5x increase in virtual memory?) Much cheaper than RAM since small SSDs have gotten pretty affordable Something else I hadn't considered?
  19. So I've when I built this PC it worked for an entire year without any issues: i7-10700k 2x16GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3200 DIMM CL16 MSI Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi RTX 2060 One day the RAM suddenly broke, both sticks. Randomly had bluescreens, pc crashed, memtest86 failed (individually for each stick too), etc.. I tried my broken RAM sticks in my friends pc and he instantly had bluescreens, crashes and all the issues too. I tried his RAM in my PC and it worked fine. He has 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX LP DDR4-3200. So i refunded the RAM and got brandnew 32GB Trident Z's. They instantly broke again. Same testing as before, doesnt work in friends pc either once again. I figured it has to be a mainboard issue then, so i replaced my MSI Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi with a MSI Z590 Gaming Edge Wifi. I refunded the RAM once again, got new ones and they broke once again. Now i replaced the PSU from a 600 Watt beQuiet with a 850 Watt beQuiet, refunded the RAM once again and it broke again. Im bought the same RAM my friend has for now, since they seem to work in my PC for whatever reason. I have no clue what could be the issue at this point but i want to have 32 GB of RAM back. Do you think I can get 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance without them breaking? I hope someone can help me.
  20. i have a gigabyte b550 DS3H with a r7 5800x and a 6700xt but one of my ram slots is broken and my pc keeps randomly crashing and i need a new mobo what would be a good replacement my case is the lian li o11 mini And sry for my bad english
  21. I recently took out 2 of my 4gb 3200 ram sticks out of my daily pc to put into another unit with a faulty ram problem. After running it on a different pc, i pulled both back out and installed it on my daily pc. When i try to boot it up it wont post, but after some intense cleaning it would only post with 3 sticks and cmos clearing. If it worked before, how come it wont work again? Cpu: ryzen 5 3600 Ram: 4x4gb 3200 Mobo: msi b450 tomahawk max Vga: zotac 1650 super All 4 ram sticks are from the same manufacturer with identical specifications
  22. Hi. My friend recently bought and installed new ram Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 16GB (cmk16gx4m2e3200c16), but after installing the 2x8gb sticks, when he turned on the pc it said "a disk read error occurred". He went looking on the internet for some fixes, and changed a few things in bios (not sure what), but it didn't help, and ended up resetting bios to default. (Maybe this has something to do with changing SATA mode selection from AHCI to RAID?, but I am not sure if it would cause a problem like this, since I don't understand what this does.) Somewhere along trying to fix the problem, the "a disk read error occurred" message stopped showing, but now the boots straight to bios, with nothing but an asus logo before showing an underscore_ blinking a few times. Now I have his pc, while he's not at home, and I want to try fixing it, since i have a bit more technical knowhow than him, but am still a newbie in bios. The CPU is a i7-6700k and motherboard is Asus Prime Z270P running bios version 1205 The old ram was a single HyperX Fury DDR4 8gb stick (hx426c15fb/8), while the new ram are 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 (cmk16gx4m2e3200c16) Does anyone have an idea what has happened here? Any help is appreciated.
  23. Why cpu and other chips are always square/rectangular, and cpu wafer is in shape of circle ?why
  24. Hey guys, After 2 weeks of tinkering with my new build I'm officially out of ideas how to fix my issue and I need some help. Said issue - whenever I choose any of the default OC options in BIOS (DOCP I, DOCP II or DOCP Tweaked) I get a blue screen either before Windows login screen or directly after logging in. Sometimes it works for about 5 minutes and then it BSOD's. PC is stable only when Auto is selected which limits RAMs speed to 3600MHz. CPU: Ryzen 9 7950X3D MOBO: Asus Crosshair X670E Hero (latest BIOS 1904) RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 4x16GB (SKU: CMT64GX5M4B5600C36) That RAM is on the QVL list. Otherwise system is perfectly stable - no overheating, no other issues. MCR works perfectly, PBO as well and the system loads in about 20 seconds or less I think. I've already tried clearing CMOS more than a few times, flashed BIOS 3 times, did clean Windows reinstall more than 10 times. Had to do all that, because there were times when the PC was at the verge of bricking itself from all the BSOD's. Like I said I'm out of ideas - should I just overclock manually? Can someone tell me how to do that if so? Or are there other ways of fixing this? Bunch of side notes: 1. I tried changing just the memory frequency in BIOS to 5200 and 5600 leaving everything else on auto, seemed more stable, but I don't know if that's safe. I think it only crashed once with that or maybe not even at all. 2. One time I got stuck in a Blue Screen Death Loop - basically couldn't get into BIOS (not responsive) and PC crashed immidiately before Windows login screen. And it just kept doing that over and over until I turned it off and cleared CMOS. 3. Don't ask me what BSOD screen says in terms of an error info - it's a whole catalogue and it's different everytime. I've got at least ~10 different causes. 4. Corsair iCue tends to not see RAM quite frequently (RGBs not syncing and not showing, etc.) even when it's not OC'ed. It works fine for a few days and then either stops completely or sees 1 or 2 sticks. I haven't figured out if it's caused by RAM itself or just iCue acting up.
  25. Hello LTT community. Recently I was able to score a bargain on an Asus Rampage II Extreme + i7 920 combo, and this gave me the idea of building a secondary gaming PC around it that I could put in the living room (sure this platform is outdated and not power efficient in the slightest but it can still pack a solid punch). Anyway, I found a 4x4GB 1333MHz DDR3 kit, but there seems to be what I assume is a memory channel issue: by installing the 4 modules in the recommended configuration (so slots A2, A1, B1, C1), the BIOS would only pick up 8GB, while in Windows it would state 16GB with 8GB usable. After this I tried multiple different memory configurations while also swapping the modules around and these were the results: A1, B1, C1 --> still 8GB detected A1, B1 --> 4GB detected A2, A1, B2, B1 --> doesn't POST B2, B1, C2, C1 --> detectes the full 16GB and everything works as it should I could just use it in the last configuration, but then it wouldn't take advantage of triple channel, and I probably wouldn't be able to upgrade to 24GB in the future if I wanted to. So now I'm asking you for help: is there something I can try to do or do I just have to rule this off as a dead memory channel? I've already updated the BIOS to the latest version, reseated the CPU and checked the socket but found no bent or broken pins. I've heard some people say that excessive CPU cooler mounting pressure could cause memory issues: while I don't think I overtightened the cooler's screws, is it worth it to look into this potential solution or is it unlikely? And if it ends up being an actual dead memory channel, in your experience, is it most likely to be the CPU or motherboard's fault? I'd hope for the former since I was thinking of selling it and swapping it for a 6 core down the line anyway. Tell me what you think about this, I'm open to suggestions.
