Alright so, I dropped my OnePlus 5 flat down on the tarmac, screen first. Neither screen or panel survived. Same day, I took it to a repair shop, got the screen replaced with original spare part. Ever since, the Bluetooth performance has been next to non existent. Phone needs to be right next to the connected device to insure stutter free playback, at approx 15cm distance, it flat out looses connection. Also noticed GPS stopped working. Took it back to the shop, technician claimed he could find nothing wrong, stating the the fall must have nudged a small chip, disconnecting it from the circuit. Further stating he'd seen it before. I challenged his opinion, stating it would be physically impossible to judge a small chip due to its mass, or lack off, stating that the force required would have totaled the entire circuit board. Also informed him that both Bluetooth and GPS module is part of the SoC, so if that was the case, it wouldn't even be able to boot. Question 1; Anyone who knows if there's actually any truth to the technicians claims? Question 2; I'm guessing the connection to what ever antenna Bluetooth uses got nicked by the technician. But if thats the case, I'd likely be a shared antenna that GPS uses aswell, but not shared with wlan or cellular as these are unaffected. Anyone with some technical know-how that can confirm or point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

Hey! I have an RTL-SDR and although its good for viewing some stronger signal TV shows and the local radio stations, Ive noticed there are some quite interesting frequencies within the spec of the RTL-SDR. Mainly to name the two bigger ones would be NOAA Satellites and ADS-B Boxes on planes. This is kind of a two parter as I would like to know if either there are cheap antennas out there already or What is the best DIY solution for both frequencies. There is so much conflicting or outdated evidence for many things out there on these topics, im not even sure what software to use to get ADS-B Pings onto a map and so on. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks - Scrub

Hi, I recently uncovered a full audio system by pioneer, it was owned by my step dad but it has lots of old connections and I would like to add DAB functionality or at least a proper input lead for connecting to a phone. Any ideas? I have shown how the speakers are connected to the system.

So a ethernet cable not do us much… got any tips? Anything is much appreciated. something like airfiber or airmax but a cheaper option.

I do tech for my college's radio station. We're implementing cataloging system. We have barcode scanners and the proper software. We were discussing how to manage vinyl, and I remembered some LTT moving vlog where they showed some scanners and QR code stickers. Considering the variability of databased records of vinyl and how often vinyl lacks barcodes, I think affixing little stickers like LTT's inventory system would be good to try out. Only problem is, I can't find where they got those stickers, or if they made them themselves then how. My google-fu has proved ineffective. Does anyone know about this sort of thing? Finding standard barcode stickers is easy enough, but those little QR code stickers seem ideal. Even general tips about cataloging and inventory are nice too, but those QR code stickers are the goal here. If I've created this post incorrectly or in the wrong place, please let me know. It didn't seem to fit elsewhere.

I have a 2013 Scion TC Release series. It came with a pioneer bluetooth radio. Just recently it got stuck on a youtube song. This is a lot stranger than it sounds. The radio display says the last youtube video I watched on my phone (even if it was not connected to my phone). I can still play music through the radio, but I cannot skip songs or go back. If I try and skip or go back, the speakers make a short high pitch beep. I restarted my phone, disconnected from bluetooth, and deleted all phones on my radio. It still doesnt work. Anyone know what to do?

Good (early) morning all, I am hoping I may run into a shoutcast/online radio vet or two in here - I'm looking to help a public radio veteran who has recently decided to switch mediums, setup a podcast and we're looking to switch up the traditional podcast format by offering a live stream of the show, while it's being recorded. There appear to be many options for "host your own radio station" by a few problems present themselves: we aren't looking for a station, but a single show, and it's of the talk radio variety, so scheduling pre-recorded songs and audio clips are wholly unnecessary. I wasn't sure if something like SHOUTcast would be appropriate or if there were a simpler - and easier to integrate (with Skype call-ins, podcast recording, etc) - option available to us that my Google searches just aren't picking up. As always, any help/expertise would be greatly appreciated.

EurekAlert reports that Engineering researchers at the Columbia University if Engineering and Applied Science have discovered a way to have a WiFi chip transmit and receive on the same frequency on a single antenna simultaneously, massively increasing the throughput capacity. I think this is great. It can only mean further improvements in wireless technology and the researchers at the university have something to be proud of. EE Times say that funding is being provided so that carriers are encouraged to adopt the technology so that it can be implemented more quickly and hopefully be put into effect relatively cheaply. Interesting stuff. 1. http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2016-04/cuso-wcd041316.php 2. http://www.eetimes.com/document.asp?doc_id=1329466

So I was thinking about ways to clean up or minimize the cable clutter on my desk, and I had a pretty weird idea. Can you buy something like a set including a micro USB dongle and a USB dongle that communicate with each other via 2.4GHz RF or Bluetooth? If something like that existed could I remove the micro-USB to USB cable from my keyboard, plug the micro-USB dongle into my keyboard, the USB dongle into my PC, and have the two dongles communicate with each other in such a way that the keystrokes from my keyboard are transmitted from my keyboard to the micro-USB dongle to the USB dongle to my PC, replacing the cable with a wireless connection; effectively making my keyboard wireless? Is this even possible and if so where can I get some of these dongles? This might not make any sense but I just wanted to ask whether this was possible, thanks in advance. EDIT: Ok, maybe this is a better way of explaining it. Instead of this: Keyboard -> Micro-USB to USB cable -> PC Can I do this: Keyboard -> Micro-USB Bluetooth dongle thing connected to keyboard -> USB Bluetooth dongle thing connected to PC -> PC?

For some reason my radiohead from time to time will just go from 10 to 0 and than back to 10 and it keeps on doing that. Here is the debug info from YouTube app when the radiohead was at 0: {"cbrand":"LGE","c":"android","cbrver":"10.28.59","cmodel":"Nexus 5","cplatform":"mobile","cver":"10.28.59","cbr":"com.google.android.youtube","cosver":"5.1.1","cos":"Android","videoid":"mMgmDeEm4wA","cpn":"iHxqBOWQ_atvE-Ew","fmt":"135","afmt":"140","bh":96,"bwe":1810285,"conn":3,"bat":"0.090:0","timestamp":1438698837845}

Am I the only one completely disappointed with the soundtrack on the Radio stations in GTA V? Not just the music, but the talk radio as well. I especially hated what they did to Lazlo, not so much as in the main story, but what they did to him on the radio. That and the other talk radio shows are just....god awful and annoying. Not as funny as they used to be.

When you first use a DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) radio instead of a FM (Frequency Modulation) radio, you will understand that it is the future of radio, with it's better audio quality and other functionality, like showing more information about the station you're listening to and what song is playing . So Norway is now leading the DAB standard forward by dropping FM radio for DAB+ as the national standard January 11th 2017, being the first country to do so. The transition will cost Norwegian consumers ten billion kroner (around 1,3 billion american dollars), and 200.000 DAB radios will become useless, not supporting DAB+ Living in Norway myself, this isn't really a big surprise, since there has been a lot of ads saying "how easy it is to switch to DAB" and trying to sell you external DAB radios for your car. A often used logo in the markeding for DAB radios in Norway; "You get more radio in a digitalradio" The switchover will begin in the north and will be implemented region by region, something that will work in Norway, but I'm not really sure if it will be such a seamless transition in let's say, the US, so this might be a challenge further down the road when the rest of the world are switching to DAB. But already now it's quite hard (at least here in Norway) to find a high quality radio, that isn't DAB. Local radio stations have asked to have the switch delayed five to seen years, due to not affording the transition to DAB. They also want a support system from the government that would help the the transition costs. Updates: Added info about the cost and negative effects. Controversial streaming radio platform Pandora has posted a net loss of US $30.4m for 2014 – meaning it has now lost over $100m in just 36 months. Yikes, thats a lot to be losing despite their increased revenues year over year. But honestly, with how expensive it must be to run a streaming service like that and having to pay more for licenses to record labels, its surprising they aren't losing even more. Hopefully Pandora tips the scales in 2015 and shakes itself free of these overall loses. http://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/pandora-now-lost-100m-three-years/

Hello everyone Last week my old HI-FI system (CD player, FM radio,...) broke. Now I was planning upgrading it to a whole new level I was thinking to buy an iPod Nano and an amplifier with an aux cable. So I could just listen to my iTunes Library and FM radio. But I found out that you need to plug these earpods in, when listening to FM radio... I was planning to use the jack as an aux cable. Should I use a splitter? Or any other good ideas? Maybe some tips for an amplifier (around 170W)? Thanks you! Dennis

Today this just happened on 94.7 FM Highveld stereo, one of the largest radio stations in South Africa. The guy being pranked is Darren "Wackhead" Simpson, a well known prankster in South Africa. In celebration of his bday on saturday they though it would be appropriate to revenge prank him today since the Easter holidays are coming up. BTW this happened while he was still on air. Never seen someone react this way to a snake in my life, i couldn't stop laughing its that funny.

The video pretty much explains it. Everytime I plug my charger into my laptop, the speakers output a radio station when they are also plugged in. The laptop is muted when I recorded this, so the radio signal is probably being channeled through my charger and into my speakers via my laptop. I'm guessing the wall outlet is poorly grounded. There is a wall to the left of my laptop with outlets on each side. I tried both and get the same result. I even used a power strip. The audio is very faint because my phone doesn't pick up audio very well when recording, my apologies; so you would need to turn up your volume to hear it. It is fairly loud and annoying in person. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vETLfRvaqtY edit: I have a usb "soundcard" that has an audio plug. Used that, and also get the same thing Can somebody please help me, please?

Title says it all, GTA V soundtrack leaked. http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/1kyndb/complete_gta_v_soundtrack_leaked_list_of_songs/ Song Download Link: http://hugefiles.net/hhhmxo3dhbzv Although there are some good songs on there, and it is good that they are including new and old songs, it's not looking as good as the GTA Vice City soundtrack, which IMO is still the best one.

I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive device that would allow me to have access to an audio stream of the local radio stations. These are my criteria: Inputs120V A/C power AM/FM antenna Outputs3.5 mm analog audio (stereo) IR remote for changing stations Basically what I need is a small device that acts as a standalone radio tuner that I can plug an antenna into and that has a 3.5 headphone jack output on it so it can be hooked up to a 3.5 mm analog input on another device. I've been looking for about an hour online and I can't seem to find any such device. I'm starting to doubt that it even exists. EDIT: Something like this:

I would never usually shop for this, but my sister's birthday is coming up and by dad thinks that she will benefit from a Bluetooth speaker. She listens to music quite often. I've heard Linus and many of you say it really doesn't matter, considering they're pretty much the same in terms of features. I'm just concerned about sound quality and what I'm getting for my buck. Speaking of my buck, I have a price range of a maximum of about $70 CAD - Dad wants to apply a $25 Best Buy gift card he just bought off of me, so If you can find something from there, that'll be great. Requirements: Good sound quality. Auxiliary cable - her laptop doesn't have bluetooth, but her iPod does. So I need it to be compatible with both. FM radio (preferrably) Yes, she listens to radio. Surprise Surprise. Very portable. Needs to be small enough to put in a school bag packed with textbooks. She listens to Alternative mostly. Likes a clear audio with a little bass. So, any suggestions? I know, I have plenty of options, and they're all the same pretty much. Just choose one that you would if you were in my situation =)

Hi all, This is my first post so please be forgiving. My situation is rather grim, with internet speeds not higher than 2mb/s down and 80 kb/s up. But wait I live in the Netherlands and we have fiber here, fiber with speeds relatively speeking mind blowing. So yes the companies have reached out to us with this promacis of greater speads via fiber. But here is my father who landed quiet the money bag on a radio wich is in our living room. And here starts and ends the problem, the radio accepts a analog signal via cable. The signal is in our internet bundle. So I've tried to talk my father into getting two bundles but that's just to expensive for the benefits only I will use. So here's my question: Is there some sort of solution to turn a digital signal into analog? please your help is needed.

(Had a quick look around the forum and couldn't find a thread like this. If there is another thread with the same topic feel free to lock this one :P) Right. On to the actual topic As i was driving home from gothenburg on route 45 towards Trollhattan my radio suddenly switched stations. Usually there's nothing wierd about it ('tis an old radio from 1991) But this time i was shocked to hear "Minnesota public radio" coming through my speakers in SWEDEN I've managed to pick up polish radio in southern sweden before but this was a bit much XD So the question i wanted to ask with this post is: Have you ever managed to tune into a radio station that you weren't expecting? (And what kind of MEGA transmitter are they using in minnesota? XD)
