Hey guys so basically I've recently been having this issue where my graphics card spins up on boot however it doesn't post. I've tried everything i can think of like pushing the switch to toggle uefi, cleaning out thoroughly, reseating it. I have a 850 watt evga 80+ gold power supply so power shouldn't be an issue. Mobo works fine because the hdmi displays from the mobo, just not the gfx card. Any suggestions?

I run a pretty decent rig in my home setup, a 6600k with nzxt kraken liquid cooling and 16gb of ram, but my graphics card which I love the performance of seems to run hot. I personally don't know what it can handle and don't want to test it, but after playing games like borderlands the pre sequel and overwatch for about 2 hours it gets to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. And then it just sort of hovers there. So I was just wondering if that is a ok temperature or if I need to pump the fans faster (which they already spin quite loud) The card is powercolor encased in a s340 - not overclocked

Hi, after I boot into windows the screen goes black, one of the fans is not spinning and the other one starts to spin at full speed. Is this happening because of the fan not working? I have changed the gpu's termal paste and I don't see any signs of burn or dead capacitors. I tested it with other gpu and it works fine My system specs are: i5-4460 2x4gb ddr3 Deepcool DA-500M PSU HD7970 Vapor-x

Hy guy's I'm new here. I'm looking for help maybe someone enconterd with this phenomon. I have bought an R9 390 Gigabyte VGA (GV-R939G1 GAMING-8GD), and the problem is (firtst i tought the PSU) when i playing with it its woking fine (Assasins Creed FHD ultra settings), but when i watch videos, or plaing a not that power damanding game, after a few sec ~ min interval, the card is shut it self down. Maybe not but it looks like it, screen go blank and its stop the coolers. I used a Watt meter and the power usage is dropping from 550W/h to 88W/h. Anyone have any ideas? I tryed to update the bios, tryed older drivers. And by chance tried four different PC's. I thinking about RMA. Anyone have any ideas? Thx fowardly

Hi I'm new to the whole pc building. I got a budget build that consists of mainly a FX 6300 CPU and a R9 380 GPU. For the past two weeks I've been experiencing constant freezing or crashing. I can hear programs operating in the back and can even move my mouse in game but the game itself is frozen and I can't do anything like ALT + TAB out. The game I mainly play is League of Legends and the freezing generally lasts for about 30 seconds with the Crimson Edition 15.11.1 Beta. It used to be worse with the most up to date Catalyst Driver which would force me to just completely restart my PC. The freezing happens in just about any game I play, Overwatch, Diablo 3, WoW, etc. Even Youtube freezes at some points and it just makes my recent purchase of this card to be completely miserable. I can provide PC Specs, logs, or temperatures if needed but you'll have to have some patience because like I said I'm new to this sort of thing.

Hello, everyone. I have recently gotten myself a summer job and I will buy a new GPU soon. I am torn, however. I have found the R9 Fury Nitro for 349 € and the R9 Fury X for 419€, the 1070 and 980 Ti cost more. I like both of these cards, I will probably be gaming at 1440p. Help is appreciated . (keep in mind that shipping costs an extra 30 eur in my country, totalling 379 eur for the nitro and 449 eur for the fury x. Consider that as my maximum budget) What should I and what would you pick?

Hi everyone I recently bought a R9 Fury for my PC, and it just doesn't want to work. Before I do something stupid, i want to know what you guys think, so I can have some advice from you. My mobo is Asrock 970 Extreme4, bought in december 2011, and has the 1.50 BIOS. The latest is 2.80. I put the card in the first slot, PCI-e cords in as well and turned it on. The Dr.Debug, a screen that tells me in what state of the boot the system is, stops a little at FF and gets stuck at 97. I checked the manual and it says "Console output devices connect", implying that it's trying to contact with the graphics card but it refuses for some reason. It's not a problem with the card because I tried it in other PC and worked perfectly fine. I've been reading some people that had this issue but with the error 98, and changing the card to other slot seems to solve the issue, but it didn't work for me. Could it be a BIOS issue? Should I risk my mobo and update it, then see if it works again? What else should I try?

Hello there, I have been experiencing many issues with my GPU and its becoming increasingly stressful when i come to play newer titles like Far Cry Primal and XCOM 2. The problem is that my game freezes for 5 seconds then i black screen with sound looping in the background then a message from my monitor saying "No Source". The company i have bought from is Novatech(.co.uk) and i have emailed them twice with a response saying that it is because of my PSU is not sufficient to run the card however on Power consumption calculators say that i need a 600W power supply to run my whole rig and i have 650W power supply. So now im wondering if its a faulty issue! can anyone back me up to think that is just a faulty GPU or is it genuinly a Power Supply issue because its either i buy a £110 850W power supply or i can get a refund and get a XFX DD R9 380 as replacement somewhere else that seems more reliable. Please help Much Thanks, James

This is it. The ultimate fix to the annoying blackscreen issue on early R9 290 reference models. You're here because : Your reference R9 290 is blackscreening on boot, under load, or randomly You found out that a temporary fix was to underclock it using afterburner YOU CANNOT update your drivers, and the last driver barely working is probably 14.4 Beta or 13.2 WHQL You are about to punch a nun in the face Worry no more fellow 290 user, the solution is here and it baffled me with it's simplicity. As you probably know, there were several batches of 290's back in the day, mainly two: R9 290 cards with ELPIDA memory, and 290's with SK HYNIX memory. HYNYX memory users shouldn't worry because they were most likely not affected by the blackscreen issue, however if you've arrived here, chances are you are an Elpida memory 290 owner. Now, why does it blackscreen ? Because for some freaking reason, the card ships with a stock memory clock of 1200 Mhz. This causes blackscreens 9/10 times at boot since Afterburner isn't running yet to underclock it. The fix is to obviously alter the VBIOS and change the default settings definitely. You don't have to worry about fucking up your flash, because as you know, there are two VBIOS installed on the card (namely "normal" and "uber"). So if you do fuck it up, just push that switch thingy on the card and try again. Then if you fuck it up again, it's the master race natural selection at work and you should just go buy a console. Don't complain here if you don't understand how flashing BIOS'es work. STEP 1) Download GPU-Z. Open it (duh) Locate the BIOS serial number Click on the little arrow next to it Select "save to a file" Name the file "hawaii.rom" (it will name itself automatically) STEP 2) Download Hawaii Bios Reader, the whole ZIP Extract it, then go to the "RealeaseBin" folder Run Hawaii Bios Reader under Admin mode Locate the '"Hawaii.rom" BIOS file Open it It will probably look something like this : Now, go to the Powerplay tab Please edit the values according to the screen below, you'll want to change every 1200 mhz value in the MEM tab into 1000 mhz It should then look exactly like this STEP 3) Save your new modded VBIOS file under another name, something like "MODHawaii.rom" Download ATI WinFlash Extract it FROM THIS POINT, YOU SHOULD HAVE EXIT AFTERBURNER OR ANY OVERCLOCKING SOFTWARE FINAL STEP) Copy the MODDED Hawaii.rom BIOS file into the folder containing ATIWINFLASH Run ATIWINFLASH in admin mode Screen WILL flicker, dont shit your undies yet Click on "load image" Locate your modded rom file EXIT EVERY OTHER PROGRAM, ATI WINFLASH SHOULD BE THE ONLY ONE OPENED Click on "Program" If everything goes alright, it will flash the new vbios and then ask you to restart your computer Restart your computer Enjoy your working R9 290, without blackscreens and with the latest drivers. I hope this was useful for people like me, who got R9 290's which are still very capable cards, and could not enjoy them without being constantly harrassed by the stupid blackscreen issues. I take no responsibility if you fuck up your card, tutorial is quite clear about the steps. You're grown up and therefore responsible for everything you're doing.

Hello everyone! As the title says my Gigabyte R9 380X is overheating. First of all I want to point out it's running at stock speeds, I do have a custom fan curve, my drivers are always updated and I run dual AOC 24" 1080p monitors(and also planning to get a 29" ultra wide sometime in the future). The temp when idling is always at the 50's, the lowest I've is 48. Mainly I play WoW, I have it on custom ultra settings with anti-aliasing a bit turned down and also limited FPS to 60 because of my monitor and this gets it up to 60-65. GTA 5 with a lot of settings turned down to normal and some high, makes it go to 70+ and then my whole PC hangs. Also the fans are getting very loud at 60%+. Whole setup is as follows: MB: Gigabyte Z170-D3H CPU: Intel i7-6700K @ 4.4Ghz with Arctic Freezer i32 RAM: Kingston HyperX DDR4 16GB @ 2666Mhz HDD: WD Red - 1TB SSD: Samsung EVO 850 - 256GB PSU: Corsair RM650X Case: DeepCool Dukase with 4 Arctic F12 fans(1 intake, 3 exhaust) Here is my fan curve

Hello, people of the Linustechtips forum. I have one single question I wanted to buy an RX 480 but the card performed exactly as I expected it to, aka slightly slower than the 970 and considering that it is bound to cost ~350 EUR in Greece, I was wondering if maybe you think it is worth it for me to pick up an R9 Fury for about ~480 EUR from Germany. I know that the 1070 exists, but I have stated that I refuse to buy an Nvidia card. I would like to wait for Vega, but that will take way too long. I plan to game at 1440p with a freesync monitor. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hello fellas! I approach you all humbly in need of your superior knowledge whether to rma my new msi 390x or not. So I was very aware that the AMD r9 2xx/3xx series gpus were hardcore toasters in the department of temperatures. Well I ofc started playing witcher 3 and OH my god.. the temps went 60c idle to 90c in no time. fans were spinning at 100% and the gpu was fully utilized. I have a corsair 400c atx case so it can't be because of airflow as I have two 140mm noctua fans for intake air. Is there something wrong with the cooling? I can't apply a new thermal paste either because I saw a warranty void-sticker in one of the gpu screws needed to remove the shroud and the heatsink. And i've tested the gpu temps on Total war: warhammer and I ran the in-game benchmark and saw massive thermal throttling after 7 seconds i've started it. This can't be normal? Also I ran the game only with fxaa so no hefty AA's used. This card is a real wind tunnel for an aftermarket one, but I seriously think the card is faulty.

I have a AMD Radeon R9 200 Series Graphics card for at least a year now, And suddenly I notice that one of the fans don't spin! BUT strangely Both fans will spin at start up, to the boot screen and then one will just stop. Huge temp increase and more power used for thermal throttling, Even if i'm just on the desktop. This is my only card i have and like you could expect i don't have money for another.
