Hey guys, so a week or so ago I got a XFX R9 390, and have gotten strange temps. So idle I get around 46-47 C but thats with the fans cranked to 80%.. earlier I got 100% usage from the gpu with a temp of 74 C. Now I know that is well within the range of normal, I just find it strange that I need such high fan speeds just to sustain that. If this keeps up, I will probably have to buy some more fans for my case. As of right now, I have one intake fan in the back of the case, and the other at the top of the case expelling the heat.

Anybody able to help me? I am not very familiar with PSU details and what not. Below is a screenshot of World of Warcraft and in the screenshot you will see a program called GPU-Z, And in that GPU-Z You see where it says 12V in the list well it is at 11.5V which I am told is very bad and could be why my core clock on the R9 390 is below half. I got told by a lot of people that I am in need of a new PSU. Any ideas on a PSU for my rig? I want a gold rating one that isn't to expensive and a trusted brand. My Specs: *ASRock H97 Fatality *I5 4590 *MSI R9 390 *8GB RAM Also the current PSU I have is http://www2.fsplifestyle.com/home/product.php?AreaLang=0&PSN=1120 Cheers

This is my first build and i do try to research as much as i can, but i'm kind of stuck at the PSU.My build consists ofi5 6500DDR4 HyperX Fury 8GBASUS H170 PRO GAMINGSapphire r9 390 8GB NitroMy Current PSU is LC600H-12 http://www.lc-power.com/en/product/netzteile/standard/l... a 600W PSU that as far as watts go, should handle the build nicely, my first issue was that Sapphire decided to go with two 8 pin connector and i only have 1 6pin and 1 6+2, which i could solve with a 6-to-8 pin adapter (Could I?). But as i read on other forums it's the Amps that count and my PSU has two 12v rails each supporting 20Amps. As I know little to nothing about PSUs, I'm asking if this PSU is any good or is an upgrade necessary. In case of an upgrade I'm kind of split between buying a good quality PSU that will support a single GPU or try to go for something with higher Wattage to ensure i could go Crossfire in a few years (about 3-4 or so)My budget is about 120 - 130€, if it's really necessary, stretching it to 140€ I've found another LC Power 850 Watt PSU that can fit in my budget (Found it for 110€) and i assume would be able to support Crossfire if and when i decide to add another r9 390.http://www.lc-power.com/en/product/netzteile/metatron-s...I read that low-end LC Power PSUs were like really bad but that they get good at a higher tier. Is this one considered any good or is LC Power something to run away from.If so I'd very much appreciate it if I could get some recommendations for a good PSU and if it's worth investing more for a future-proof Crossfire, or just get a decent one now and worry about that later.

Hi, I just got an gigabyte r9 390, I bought it because my 670 died. Anyways, is there a way to overclock my monitor to 120hz like I did with my 670? Does crimson software support that? It denies me when I use custom resolution. I also oc'ed at 1095/1575 MHz with MSI afterburner. Is that low? Voltage is locked with this card which is a bummer. Thanks,

So i've put together this build but im unsure on a monitor that will suite this build. I will be playing games like: Csgo, Overwatch, Metal Gear solid ,GTA, Arma, Dark souls, FarCry, Battlefield, Fallout/Skyrim..... and other similar games I am From Australia and i am willing to spend >$500 on the monitor. I've been suggested an Acer H257HU SMIDPX 60Hz 25.0 1440p Monitor but i am open to suggestions as i'm unsure if i need a 1080p or 1440p, 60hz or 144hz, TN or IPS. Free-sync or not. So as my old GTX 670 is probably dying right now, i was thinking of getting a new GPU, either R9 390 or GTX 970 since they are in the same price range, but i can't decide which one would be better to get regarding the future and performance between them. There is probably hundreds of this kind of topics but i want "fresh" answers From AMD's side i'd get: Asus AMD R9 390 DirectCuII From NVIDIA's side i'd get: ASUS STRIX GeForce GTX 970 OC I'd probably get one of those because they come with free games lol, NVIDIA, Far Cry Primal and The Division AMD, Far Cry Primal and Hitman Current Specs i7-4790k EVGA GTX 670 16gb ram ASUS Z97-A Motherboard Corsair CX750W V2

Hi, I'm new at building custom computers so i want to know your opinion: I'm planning on building a gaming-only PC(no video editing) and there for I'll get a Sapphire R9 390 in a CollerMaster 690III case. But now I'm not sure which CPU will fit to this components. I already have an elder I5-3350P at home with a Zotac motherboard(P8 Z77-V LX) but I'm not sure if this I5 will be strong enough and if not which CPU/motherboard can you recommend. PS: I may overclock my CPU in the future and have planned a budget of around 200-250€ (=220-280$) for a new CPU(if necessary)

My monitor keeps saying that I have no signal. Turns out it was my graphics card. This is the current situation: I get a display when graphics card it not given a power source or is taken out of the system. (Getting it from motherboard output) When my graphics card is in the system, there is no display whatsoever (both motherboard or gpu) Cables used: VGA, DVI. HDMI I tried uninstalling the drivers from my GPU. I did a BIOS update, Windows Update. Same result. I tried reinstalling the drivers. Nothing. System: Intel Core i7 4790k Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Asus Z97-A w/ USB 3.1 Gigabyte R9 390 8GB WD Blue 1TB Corsair 750W Non-Modular 80+ Bronze I'm at the point where I don't know what to do. Any suggestions from the community? (Had this system for about 4 months.)

Hello everybody, Happy Easter. So I'm planning on purchasing a pre-built tower (do not want to put one together) that will provide me with a best bang for my buck. I've been lurking on NewEgg and came about this tower : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227654 The specs look great for the price but I just wanted to double check with you guys if there's even anything better for similar price, or this is it? Thank you.

So, in my upgrade planning, having figured out a case and psu, I'm a little stuck between options for a new graphics card. I had previously been looking at getting a GTX 960, but then I was directed towards looking into instead getting an R9 380(x), as it has some edges over the 960, or going up a tier and looking into an R9 390(x) or a GTX 970. Having done so, I found the XFX R9 390 Double Dissipation [link]. With its generous 8GB of VRAM and advertised 4K capability, it seems like a pretty good choice. However, reviews have noted that it's rather power-hungry and can sometimes have coil whine issues. My current plan is waiting a couple of months to see if any newer cards come out in that same price and performance range, and scrape up some extra cash on the side. So, my question is: Can this card hold up to its advertised future-proof specs and be useful in the years to come, or should I look somewhere else?

I put together a little video showcasing the parts and the build . Feel free to like and leave a comment Youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0pxyR0TVoY Do check it out, I worked so hard So this is my second shot at building a PC. My last build was back in Sep 14. And while that computer served me well up until now, it was built on a very tight student's budget. But now that I'm working, I have a little more cash to spend and well I thought i was time for an upgrade. I went out and bought the R9390 and a new power supply expecting to be able to max out all games on ultra at 1080p with 60fps avg. However, I wasn't getting anything close to the performance that I was expecting. That's when I realized that the FX6300 was bottlenecking my GPU. I managed to dial in a 4.3Ghz overclock. But it would still bottleneck. So I decided to pull out the new GPU and PSU and put the old ones back in there and put that PC in the living room and go for an entirely new build. CPU: I had my eye on the 6600k ever since it launched. Its pretty decently priced and I wanted a skylake system. the choice was simple. CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo. Nuf said Motherboard: You really do get what you pay for. The build quality is excellent and the board just looks so sexy. 2 M.2 Slots means that I'm definitely putting in a M.2 SSD in there soon. Memory: 16GB DDR4. Not much to say here. Storage: I already had an old SSD lying around so I put that in here. And a WD 1TB HDD for more storage. GPU: This was the very first part that I had purchased. And it was a tough choice. It was this or a 970. Finally I decided to go with the 390. It performs about 5 to 10% better and was like 20 bucks cheaper. But the AMD driver isn't as good and has a CPU overhead. Some games run way better than on the 970 and some don't. I'm pretty sure I'd be having similar thoughts if I'd gotten the 970. So whatever, I'll live with it Case: If you watch any of Hardwarecanucks videos it's tough not to love Phanteks. I really wanted the Evolv ATX but $180 was a bit too rich for my blood This case was great to build in and cable manage in. The top fan bracket is supposed slide out to make it simple to install fans. But on my unit one of the screws just kept turning without coming out. So yeah... I was a nightmare. I took off all the screws holding the top on and installed the fan that way. Took me about an hour extra. But the looks and the temps make it worthwhile. PSU: EVGA. Cheap. 750W. Not much to say. Case Fans: Both sets of fans move a lot of air and are very quiet. The system is near silent on idle. The GPU is super noisy on load though Overall, I'm very happy with the way the build turned out. I'm especially very happy with the cable management. I'd like to get sleeved cables in the future. Haven't overclocked yet, but will soon. I think a 4.3 to 4.5 Ghz overclock will be great. And the cpu runs at a frosty 49C at full load, so looks like i have headroom to overclock! Yes, I know this is very long post But if you're reading all the way till here, thank you! So, I've been asking around on the forums about what graphics card I should get for an upgrade (literally anything recent is better than what I currently have, a gt 610), and I've gotten a lot of great tips from other users. However- I've run into a bit of a wall. I'm rethinking what resolution I really need to get out of a card, and how long I want to use it. Originally, I was planning on going with a 4GB GTX 960 model, as various reviews and users make it out to be able to crunch anything at 1080p, my current resolution. However, I was told to look into the R9 380, as some say it outperforms the 960 in several areas. This led to my looking into the AMD end, where I found that, for another $120 or so, I could get up to 8GB of VRAM with the R9 390, which could potentially cover anything for the next year or so. However, while waiting for some sale prices to fluctuate, I found some more benchmarks and reviews, which made me rethink my strategy- should I aim for higher VRAM or higher clock speeds, and which will provide the most "future-proofing"? I've seen that AMD cards usually have more shader cores and wider memory bus, along with better texture detail, but Nvidia cards usually have higher clock speeds and better multi rendering. I want to know what resolution I should aim for, as many of the most popular YouTube gamers only upload in 1080p, and not many viewers are going to want, let alone be able to watch at anything much higher, except possibly 1440p. If anything, I'd try out uploading short series in future games like No Man's Sky or indie games like Guns of Icarus. Which card do you think will provide the best performance for value for these games and would still serve for newer high-end titles?

I'm trying to color my R9 390x's white LED to red. Specifically this LED: I've already tried red permanent marker but it had some undesired results. The color was not even and was way too light. I was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions?

Hello, I know its a long and old debate. Of course, R9 390 is winning over Gtx 970 now a days. But the this Xtreme edition of gtx 970 is really catching attention. Its gaming boost is 1342 mhz and its really eye catching. So please give me some advice. I would pick an R9 390 anyday, but this xtreme edition giving me hard times.

So EKWB isn't make any waterblocks for my card, but I found one here: http://www.alphacool.com/shop/gpu-cooler/ati-fullsize/19917/alphacool-nexxxos-gpx-ati-r9-390-m01-mit-backplate-schwarz I would first like to verify with you guys if that would fit on my R9 390 nitro with backplate sapphire GPU. I'm a bit worried about cooling ... seems like only core will be cooled with water, VRM and VRAM will depend on passive cooling only. At least I get that impression from watching this waterblock. I already purchased Kraken G10 + Kraken X31 + tons of heatinks a while back and I couldn't get it working. VRM would always overheat and that would cause my graphic card to crash. So I don't realy like idea of passive cooling those chips. Any suggestion/ideas about that waterblock that alphacool made for my GPU?

Hi , So I am presented with 2 options: AMD Radeon R9 390 8GB (MSi or GIGABYTE version) (Approx. ZAR 5500 | Approx. USD 350) Nvidia Geforce GTX 970 4GB (GIGABYTE version) (Approx. ZAR 6000 | Approx. USD 380) Now, the thing is, OBVIOUSLY the R9 390 is MUCH faster but everyone is telling me to go Nvidia. I don't see why? The GTX 970 is MORE EXPENSIVE and is SLOWER than the R9 390, but people keep telling me don't get it: "You're going to learn the hard way", is what someone told me... Is there something wrong with AMD GPU's, am I an idiot? Are the people telling me to go for the GTX 970 in this scenario idiots? Thanks for any help!

I'm having some weird GPU usage during Unigine Heaven benchmark. If I put it to max settings, GPU load will be always on 100%. But When I set on medium settings and 1920x1080 resolution (usually I use 2560x1440), I get some weird spikes in GPU usage. I was monitoring frame times and FPS rate with afterburner ... my i7 4790 is delivering frames in times around 15ms - 30ms. But even when frame times are at 15ms, I will see GPU usage spikes and I don't know why. There are few FPS drops here and there, not sure if that's okay. I mean i7 4790 + R9 390 nitro should deliver me constant 60 fps (vsync on) on benchmark for 1920x1080 at medium settings and no anti-aliasing. But I still get FPS drops to like 30 for about 2-3 sec and then it' up back to 60. I was monitoring RAM usage and hard faults per secound ... everything normal here. Was checking for SSD usage (I have evo 850), and load never went above 5% during benchmark. CPU usage on 20% with normal temps. GPU usage jumping from 100% to 0%, temperatures are okay. I just don't get it why it's jumping up and down all the time. Not sure if that's okay ... I don't like seing my GPU going from 0% to 100% all the time, just like I don't hammer my foot on gas pedal and then releasing it and repeating that crap all the time. Here is picture of that GPU usage: p.s: I also tried to use other GPU usage monitor softwares, but all of them looked like this.

AMD Driver disables Directx 12 and enables only 11.3
generalgehant posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I am using an XFX R9 390 along with a fresh install of windows 10, so I should have directx 12, right? When running dxdiag it says i have directx 11.3. I know for nvidia cards, the main problem was MSAA in the control panel. So i thought that I should try uninstalling the radeon driver to see if the version would change. With the Radeon driver uninstalled, dxdiag says I have directx 12. After reinstalling the driver, it goes back down to 11.3 again. Does anyone know why or where this is happening in the Radeon settings? I really want to run 3d mark using directx 12, but it crashes because of this. I also want to try the new version of dolphin emulator with dx12 support, but it gives me an error and doesn't run. Radeon settings version: 2016.0226 (16.2.1) Driver packaging version: 15.301 Specs: i5-6600k ASRock z170 Extreme 4 XFX R9 390 Thanks-
