Hello! I just found out that my AMD A8 6500 CPU is too week for my R9 380 so im facing a CPU change for better performance. CPU cahnge is a though decision and it is not the cheapest thing too. I got some advices from you guys what CPU to buy but at the moment I cant afford a new CPU and motherboard. What I have in mind is a AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.70GHz FM2+ BOX CPU. It's ideal cause it's cheap and FM2 socet. Now as the title says it would be a temporary solution so as soon as I can upgrade I will. Could this thing work or should I wait more? Honestly if it can run my R9 380 whithout significant bottleneck I would be happy. The goal is an enjoyable 30-60fps gaming.

I have two monitors, one using HDMI and the other using DVI. I cannot get the computer to display anything on the DVI monitor which will stay in standby mode after displaying the windows logo upon start up. I have an R9 380 with the 16.1 crimson edition drivers and have just upgraded to windows 10. This monitor set up worked fine on windows 7 with an old Radeon 6850. What can I do to fix this issue? This is what the windows display settings says when I try to use the other monitor: I upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7. I have a Powercolor R9 380 4GB. I have the latest 16.1 crimson edition drivers. I have checked for updates in Windows update, there are no new updates. Trying DVI monitor by itself using the DVI-I port the monitor will display the motherboards "asus" splashscreen and then will go into standby mode with a message claiming "No signal - Digital". The DVI monitor plugged into a DVI-D port would display until the windows logo and loading circle appears on bootup and then it goes into standby with the same message. Plugging into the mobo DVI port results into the same situation as the DVI-I port on the GPU. The same things happen if I have the HDMI display plugged in. UPDATE: FIXED! The main 1080p monitor needed a HDMI cable and the older 4:3 monitor needed a VGA cable with a DVI adaptor to connect it to the Video card. Thanks.

Hey guys, I recently received as a gift a powercolor r9 380 4Gb graphics card as an upgrade to my gtx 760. I was super excited to try out my games on this shiny new card but was rather let down when i had WORSE frame rates than my gtx 760. So, i am looking for a new graphics card(the MSI R9 380 4GB Gaming) and i wonder if my current rig would bottleneck it THAT much current rig: CPU: AMD Athlon x4 750k RAM: 2x8GB 1600Mhz i can't remember the motherboard but i know it has an FM2+ socket and PCI x16 2.0 Current GPU:Nvidia GT 630 2GB 530w psu First of all, i know i'll have to buy a new motherboard for that card. The thing is , i don't have enough budget to buy a new cpu, so should i get the R9 380 and keep my Athlon x4 750k? will it bottleneck that much?

Just finished building my pc.. plugged in my monitor and keyboard and turned on the power. Everything looks like it's working.. all fans on the case are spinning and also the cpu fan and gpu fans so everything seems to have power Still on a black screen though it's been 5 minutes

So I bought this graphics card very recently and so far I'm very disappointed. My older card (gtx 560) has been performing better than my new one. I'm now playing GTA V at 30-40 fps on medium settings, actually pretty much no matter what settings in the game I change the fps stays the same. Fallout 4 is stuttering like crazy on medium settings and fps is around 25 in the cities and 60 out in the wilderness. GPU usage is going wild while i'm playing, pic (GTA V gameplay): http://i.imgur.com/TVxVi8y.png Temp is still stable though. I have tried different AMD drivers, old and new ones, doesn't really make any difference. Anyone knows what's going on here? I'm pretty sure the performance isn't supposed to be this bad. Is the card maybe defect? Or is my CPU just bottlenecking? Currently installing my msi r9 380 graphics card. It has 2 6 pin connections. My power supply has a pcie connection that plots into two 6pin+2pin Do I only use both 6 pins from my power supply to my gpu. Psu is a Corsair cx 600

Hi! I am building my first system very soon and am ordering in the coming week. I am decided on parts, any suggested changes had better be persuasive. The one thing I do want check is: Do I need a bigger PSU? I have saved myself £15GBP by opting for 550w rather than 650w. I will be running an i5-6600 (possible overclock later) and an R9 380 4GB STRIX edition from ASUS, this pulls 'up to 225 watts' according to ASUS. The PSUs I am looking at are EVGA G2 series ones, they deliver almost all the rated power over the 12v rail, about 540w on the 550w model I believe. Future cards will be 980 equivalents or lower and more power-efficient, SLI is not planned anytime soon. I may run stress tests and benchmarks but not regularly once it is set up. Hey everyone, Like it says in the title: Will an AMD Athlon x4 640 bottleneck an R9 380 much? I know it'll be a bottleneck but I wanna know will it be much, as in a rough estimate from completely unplayable to a lil bottlenck? Background info: I'm putting together a gaming pc in a few months but was wondering how much an R9 380 would be handicapped by the cpu if I decide to buy the GPU early and just stick it in to do for now. Thanks in advance for any help, it's greatly appreciated.

This is going to be my first build for editing videos for YouTube and gaming. I need some final thoughts and tips on parts I should get for this build. I am trying to keep this build under $750 (id prefer under 700 but I can manage). I have already bought the RAM, Case, DVD Drive, PSU, and Cpu fan. I just need thought on the other parts that are left to buy. I dont want to go over $750 to get the price under 700 dollars I am willing to take some frames away for price. I wanted to know if it was safe to put a Corsair H80i GT on a R9 380 GPU to make it cooler, quieter and to overclock even more. I was wondering about this ever since I saw the video where Linus put a CPU water cooling unit on a GPU. Thanks if you respond in advance!!

Hello all you knowledgable people. I'm looking to build a budget friendly full hd gaming with ability to upgrade. My thoughts are to go with a z97 mobo (i'd prefer inrel) and for gpu, since xfire boards are cheaper as well as freesync monitors, so I would go with r9 380x 4gb (maximum budget for gpu) Don't know about the mobo. Looked at msi z97s sli krait edition as well as Asrock z97 pro4. I know you guys prefer Asus but they are so expensive. For first cpu I don't know is G3258 won't bottelneck the gpu and if I should go for i3-4170. And even if that will do. But would like to get away with stock fan for now for budget. Other components would be 1TB baracuda HDD and 8gb ballistix sport ram (should I go for 1x8 or 2x4?) And some $50 case. Cooler master or fractal probably. In the future I plan to add OC i7 with better fan. Second HDD in RAID + boot ssd and a second gpu with better ventilation. What are your thoughts?

Hey guys, I had one last quick question before finalizing my pc build. Here in Canada, the GTX 970 is about 400$, while the 4gb r9 380 is around 300$. Is the extra 100$ REALLY worth the extra performance at 1080p? I'll be playing the upcoming Black Ops 3, GTA V and a couple other popular games like CS:GO and Grid 2. Should I save 100$ and spend the extra cash on some games? Or should I splurge and get the more powerful yet more expensive GPU? Pairing the GPU with an i5 4460 and 8gb of RAM.

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new GPU for an upcoming build, and don't want to spend too much on decent 1080p performance. I was debating the r9 380 (4gb), the r9 280x and the rumored 380x. Which would get me the best 1080p performance for my dollar? I'll be playing mainly CoD, GTA V, and other popular games. I'll be pairing the GPU with an i5 4460 and 8gb of RAM.

I think I speak on the behalf of everybody in the LTT forum who is tired of having to tell new system builders to get rid of their 960's and get a R9 380 instead. Now I am not even an AMD fanboy or anything, but seriously people, the number of times I've seen "Go with the 380 instead, its a better GPU for the same price." Can we all just start going with the 380 for budget builds and not the 960? We're getting tired of saying this.. If you don't believe me look up the benchmarks yourself. And yes, I do understand that there are cases where you want a certain nvidea feature, so I will make an exception in those cases.

Hi guys I'm kind of new to this forum but I need some help I have got a Intel Core i7 6700K with 16gb DDR4 RAM and a Asus z-170a Motherboard. All I have left is the graphics cards, I love gaming but I do a lot of editing on my pc is well I have 1 R9 280 already and im not sure if i should get another 2 I have the money I just need to get the right one I am happy to get rid of my R9 280 and give it to my brother but would it be better for me to buy another 2. I have been looking at AMDs new R9 300 series of cards for a cupple of months now and with christmas coming up I need to make a choice I don't like NVIDIA they just don't appeal to me what so ever. I like the look of the R9 380s I was thinking of getting 2 but would it be better for me to get one R9 390 and then have the room to upgrade in the feautre or do I just go for the crossfire setup. Lots of people have been saying on different websites and videos that you should go for the better card and leave yourself room to expand, but would it be better to pair with what i have?? Help please guys I need a decision by Thursday this week!! Thanks Olly

Hello LTT Community, I've recently have encountered an issue with my amd build that when i turn it on it displays onto the monitor but the monitor gives a message saying "Input is not supported). I've reinstalled the 16.1.1 drivers using another monitor ( i use this monitor for my gaming pc so i can't use it for the amd build) that the computer posts with, didn't want to work with the old monitor. Reinstalled the stable 15.1 crimson drivers, that did not work, reinstalled windows and 16.1.1 and 15.1 drivers that did not work. So im out of ideas. What could it be? -
I am thinking about buying a Gigabyte Radeon R9 380 Windforce 4gb card. In Gigabytes website it says 500 watts requiered, but I allready have a 430w power suply. Will that work or do I have to buy a new one?
