Simple question, don't feel like opening up my case to check, is the R9 380 Nitro 4GB card's cooler design a design that blows hot air into the case, or a design that intakes air from the case and exhausts out of the back of the case?

Im on a budget of $500,i want a build i can use mainly for gaming at 1080p high setting on most titles I want advice on the parts I've chosen and other alternatives that won't affect my budget, also I'm willing to buy used parts at a lower price if it would enhance my builds performance i was thinking of going with the i3 6100 and gtx 970 but thats out of my budget I know I'll be getting more power, maybe I could buy them used if any of you have deals like that let me know,By the way im getting the cpu and mobo at microcenter seems like a good deal This is my part list http://pcpartpicker.com/p/8hyv8d CPU & MOBO - fx 6300 and Mobo- $100 GPU - R9 380 - $150 RAM - Kingston 8GB - $26.99 HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB - $44.99 Case - Raidmax Horus - $33.99 PSU - EVGA 500W 80+ - $27.99 thanks in advance

Helhou, Is R9 380 CrossFire worth it, it will only cost like 400$ and it's fairly cheap for dual-gpu setup I'm looking for. Will it perform significantly better than one 380 alone Thanks for help

Soooo... to start off I buld computers for many different users. Long and somethimes annoying conversations but this time I made myself thinking deeply. I have 250$ for a videocard for myself after a few years with a Zotac GT 730 with 2 gigs of GDDR 5 on board. It was hella cheap and performs quite nice if you don't want to murder some people with the sharp graphics. This time I have the money to replace 730 and give it a chance to live in a media machine under the TV. After the little story here comes the real question. I have seen many benchmarks numbers tossed around and the GTX 1080 hit the market. I think the price of the older hardware will drop. I might be able to get a 970 or even a 980 if I wait long enough but that is not the case. I need real opinion and experience from you guys. the 960 and the AMD cunter part the R9 380 are both great card for 1080p gaming. but I see a lot of benchmarks showing that the R9 380 is usualy behind the expected result. What I want is a stable @ least 60 FPS for most of the games and I don't wanna lower my settings too much. Leave your recommendation and por/cons what you think I hope you can help me to finally decide what to buy!

Which one is better, both are 4GB GDDR5 AMD has 258bit memory and Nvidia has 128bit AMD's graphical processor clock is slighty lower than Nvidia's For video outputs i don't have any requirements Thanks already for help! -N4vySc4n-

Hi! I am planing on building a small form factor gaming pc. My components are as follows: gigabyte-ga-f2a88xn-wifi-socket-fm2 Amd 7860k Black edition fm2+. CM Elite 130 mini-itx chassi Hyperx Fury ddr3 8gb 1600mhz ram xfx r9 380 4gb corsair cx550m 550w psu (semi modular) Corsair force series le 240gb Corsair hydro h60 cpu cooler My first question is, will the r9 380 card work with the motherboard or does the motherboard need to have a 6-pin power connector? My second question is, will the psu have enough watt to power the system? Third question, will these parts function well together? If not, what should i replace and with what? Thanks in advance Elias Alm

Hello all, I have decided to buy a Seasonic S12II 520W and an MSi R9 380. Will the PSU be able to supply enough power to the GPU? Initial topic can be found here: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/586524-gpu-and-psu-upgrade/ Thank you for your replies!

Is R9 380x worth the 10-20 $. Which should i pick?

So, I've been asking around on the forums, and checking benchmarks and prices, and have come to the general conclusion that the 380 slightly edges out over the 960. With the approach of Pascal and Polaris, I'm wondering if, for 1080p gaming, I should wait for the new lineup to lower older cards' prices, or pick between the 380 and 960, as both are going for $190 on Newegg ($170 MIR). Rig: i5-2400 3.1 GHz 12 GB DDR3 650W PSU

Hi there, although I'm new on the forum, I'm no stranger to computers. I've decided to build my first post-2010 rig for college (yes, i started out in the master race pretty young) which I plan to use for all kinds of stuff I might have to do, including 3D modelling and rendering etc. Apart from that, I'd like to enjoy some casual gaming from time to time. I've read the guidelines for this sub-forum and I'd like to say that though I live in India, I plan to build this rig when I come to my university in the US itself. Budget: $900~950 A basic rundown of the specs I've decided upon- -Intel Core i5 6500 -MSI B150I GAMING PRO AC Mini ITX -Gskill Ripjaws V 16gb (2x 8gb) DDR4-2400 -Sapphire Radeon R9 380 2GB Compact ITX -Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD, ADATA SP550 240GB SSD The rest of the detailed particulars are here- http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Y3TJCJ So what do you think? Maybe I should get a 1TB HDD and get a cheap, good SSD? Plan to add an Adata SP550; Done Is there any other motherboard with a better price-performance-features point? Edit: I havent opted for an optical drive since the cabinet doesnt support one, might get an external drive.

Hello, I just recently built my very first computer and it has been very fun and exciting, and up until the past week or so seemingly flawless to boot. About a week ago I downloaded the steam game Rust and although it is highly addicting it seems to be kicking my computers ass. My build is the following; FX8320 cpu xfx r9 380 gpu 2x 8gb ballistix ddr3 memory crucial 240gb ssd 1tb hd 500w bronze EVGA psu ASrock Fatal1ty 970 performance mobo 1x dvd rom drive 3x case fans (came with case) I have been using open hardware monitor to see how hot my GPU/CPU are running while playing; GPU - stays at or under 62 degrees Celsius. (fan speed usually maxes around 55% 2500rpm) CPU - stays at or under 46 degrees Celsius. EDIT: I am doing no overclocking whatsoever and using stock cooling for all components. I can run Rust seemingly forever on the lowest graphics settings, but after playing for about an hour or so (at decent/high graphics settings) my game lags and freezes followed by a loss of HDMI input (I assume my graphics card is attempting to restart). I have had times where the card restarts successfully and I am able to reboot the game and get another hour or so of play before a repeat. Sometimes my PC continues to run with no video signal and I hit restart. I have played other games for hours with no issues on high/ultra settings including Hitman, and Far Cry Primal. When I look at event viewer, the last couple of items before I hit restart are as follows. - <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> - <System> <Provider Name="EventLog" /> <EventID Qualifiers="32768">6008</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2016-04-17T20:11:07.933157500Z" /> <EventRecordID>2700</EventRecordID> <Channel>System</Channel> <Computer>Cody</Computer> <Security /> </System> - Before I begin, I will explain everything I have tried. I have tried reinstalling the gpu, reinstalling windows, reinstalling the drivers, trying out newer and older drivers. I have tried fumbling around in msi afterburner looking at any option to help. I have tried underclocking, overclocking. Nothing have solved this problem. Additionally, my gpu temps are around the 60-75 range, cpu being no higher than 55. (celcius). The problem After playing a game or the gpu being under load for about 2 min the gpu usage drops severely. It is all over the place. Like if I play Metal gear ground zeroes my fps is at 60 ish, and then it drops to 20 ish and then back to 60 in a bout 10 seconds. 2 min later the same thing happens. In Warframe it is at 200, it drops to 100 then back to 200. I will show my log file from msi afterburner. If you need some more information please feel free to tell me. My specs are as follows. Amd fx 8320, r9 380, evga supernova 750 watt powersupply (gold), asrock 970 extreme 3, 1tb hdd, and soem case fans. My cpu cooler is a hyper evo with a case fan on it, rather than the stock one.

So I was shopping for a new GPU earlier and came across this... http://www.cclonline.com/product/206619/R9-380-GAMING-2G/Weekly-Deals/MSI-AMD-Radeon-R9-380-GAMING-2GB-Graphics-Card-PCI-Express-3-0-x16-2-x-DVI-DisplayPort/HDMI/VGA2908-DOTW/ MSI R9 380 2GB Gaming for £130 delivered (if you take economy shipping, £3.95 for 2-3 day) from a reputable seller?! I was waiting on a good deal to come along on a 4GB model but this is a great deal... Worth waiting on a 4GB or grab this now?

Hello, I recently posted a topic here on my computer rebooting during games, and pinned the issue onto my graphics card being faulty. I got an RMA and replaced it. Everything was fine for about a week. Just a few minutes ago, my computer rebooted when i started up Team Fortress 2 and joined a game. I used Furmark to test to see if it was my graphics card and it reboots everytime I start the stress test now. When I got the fresh GPU replacement I ran the stress test first and it ran nicely! Please help! Is it my mother board or psu that's causing this problem? I noticed in hardware monitor that 0 volts were supplied to internal GPU.. Does that mean anything? Thank you for reading Update!!: So after some testing and prayer, I found that it isn't my GPU thankfully. But my problem with reboots still persists, but under different circumstances. After about an hour or two of playing games or just surfing the web, working etc., my computer will reboot (It only reboots while I play games though). Is this a power supply issue, a mobo or cpu problem? Can I get some much needed help please!? Specs are r9 380 4gb msi GPU intel i5 4460 CPU EVGA 650W PSU h97 pc mate msi MOBO All of my parts are around 6 months old, except for my gpu which is brand new! I also noticed after rebooting my cpu temperature boots up to around 54 degrees, but will idle after at around 30. Too much heat? Should I change my thermal paste?

Hi all - I'm having a hard time deciding between these GPUs and I'm hoping to get some input. Mainly I'm interested in what everybody thinks is the best deal for price / performance. MSI r9 380 - $180 (found a deal) XFX 380x - $210 Sapphire 380x - $225 I was going to get a Sapphire 380 but the awesome $174 newegg sale ended before I made a decision... should I wait a few weeks until there is another sale?

As the title says I want to know which one is better if you take in an account the price difference. Two R9 380's are 570$ and two GTX 970's are 920$. Playing on a 1080p monitor. Thanks!

A while ago i've created a topic about GTX 960, and every body said i should pick up R9 380. I've agreed to that statement, but i've been thinkin' about R9 380X, is it better? Why isn't there that many R9 380X's on the market?

I'm considering the following graphics cards for a future rig, to be built around October this year: MSI R9 380 GAMING 4G and a Sapphire NITRO R9 380X 4GB Dual-X OC 11250-01-20G Is there a big difference? They are both around 240 dollars on amazon and I will be probably running them on a FX 8350. I was also considering a gtx 960. Here are the links for them: http://www.amazon.com/MSI-R9-380-GAMING-4G/dp/B00ZPOBI0M/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1458592268&sr=1-4&keywords=r9+380 http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-DL-DVI-I-DL-DVI-D-Graphics-11250-01-20G/dp/B017WMD8ZM Thanks!

So, I've had a super hard (like back and forth everyday for a couple weeks hard) time deciding between getting a GTX 960 or an R9 380. From what I've heard and read, the 380 has better gaming performance. I've also seen, looking at spec sheets, that the 380 has much better memory performance, with higher memory interface width and total memory bandwidth. However, the 960 has mucher higher GPU clock speeds and pixel rates, and therefore, better shader performance (right?). Also, the 380 has better texture rate, which I assume helps give it its edge in gaming? So there's the data I've discovered, but it really doesn't mean anything to me in terms of all-around performance in gaming, editing, and rendering. So, I guess what I want to know is whether the gaming performance edge the 380 has is enough to overwhelm the features of a 960 like Shadowplay, CUDA, and others? Thanks for any help that you can give! P.S. Gaming/gaming and recording are my biggest priorities. Then, editing all those gaming videos (and some other stuff) with Premiere Pro. So if anyone can link me to some stats (article or video) on the 960 vs the 380 in Adobe products (Premiere Pro mostly), that would be great. P.P.S. Also, if you use Shadowplay, would you pick it over OBS, Fraps, and any other recording software? If so, why? Does it offer better performance while gaming?

Hi i just bought a new computer with an r9 380 and a 6600k and following my amazement by the fact that Csgo and League were running at 300 fps+ i heard some really strange sounds from my graphics card at these high fps numbers. I am using amd free sync therefore i dont want to limit my fps below 200. Does anyone else have a similiar problem with that card or a diffrent one?
