Hello everyone, First of all I`d like to say that I have been looking around in this forum for quite a while now but this is the first time I post something To jump straight to my question, in two weeks I`ll order a water cooling system for my gpu and I need your help to choose the right one. My gpu is AMD Sapphire r9 280x vapor-x tri-x and it has some overheating issues. I changed the thermal paste few times now, but 3 of the screw heads (the head where the screw actually goes in) got destroyed and they are the ones around the gpu socket so you can imagine that my temperatures are not very low at the moment. So I searched the web for solutions and I narrowed it down to using Nzxt kraken g10 with one of the following coolers : Corsair H75 / H55 / H90. The problem is that I do not know which one to chose and which one is the better in terms of cooling, sound and at the same time if it justifies the price. I was thinking of getting an H55 with 2 Noctua fans NF-F12 or to just go with H55 or H90 with stock fans. I have been doing some research about them and I still don't know which would be the best solution for this so I am open to suggestions. I live in Denmark so the websites I will buy from will be this or this one.

I would like to play any games (like AC Syndicate, AC Unity, GTA V, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Far Cry Primal/4 etc) on High Setting with a Smooth 45+ fps @1600x900. Is it possible with R9 270x? My PC Spec: CPU i5 3470 with Hyper 212x Cooler Asus 61ME Mobo 6 GB 1333 Ram 1 TB HDD I'm on a very tight budget. I Can afford- >A second hand R9 270x Vapor X for 11000 BDT (Bangladeshi; Taka 1$ == 80 BDT) + PSU for 2000 BDT. Or, > to wait for 1 and half month and buy again second hand R9 280x VX for 16000BDT + PSU for 4000BDT. What Should I do? I can't wait. It's been 2 months without gaming and I'm dying!

Some of you will remember that i posted a thread about getting help on a budget builds for my friend. The build included an 860k and a gtx 750ti but i was able to find a fews good deals online on used GPUs. 1 MSI R9 280X Gaming, 1 Asus R9 280X DC2 and 1 Asus GTX 760 DC2 (All of them cheaper than a new 750ti). Now the R9 280X is obviously more powerful but in my understanding the Nvidia drivers are more forgiving on a weak CPU. So which one should i pick?

Specs are: CPU: AMD FX-9590 SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 120 GB SSD Water Cooler: Seidon 280L CoolerMaster Liquid CPU Cooler Memory: 2x4GB Corsair Memory Motherboard: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 AM3+ rev 4.0 Video Card: R9 280x 3GB Case:Coolermaster Cosmos II Ultra Tower Black Edition Power Supply: Coolermaster GXII 750W 80+ Bronze I removed the gpu and reinstalled it. PC doesn't boot past windows starting screen. Other times, doesn't show screen and it just stays black. Did I damage something? I don't see any scratches on motherboard. I insert it into pci 16 slot. I tried different ones. Still has problems. Another thing to note is that my pc makes the regular powerup noise, then it goes silent and then it starts making the continuous loud sound. This is the black screen problem If lucky, it shows up to window startup damaged files screen and I start windows normally. The computer just shuts off. Even choosing other option. Please help Power supply fan and all looks okay. Fans aren't clogged and are spinning as usual.

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new GPU for an upcoming build, and don't want to spend too much on decent 1080p performance. I was debating the r9 380 (4gb), the r9 280x and the rumored 380x. Which would get me the best 1080p performance for my dollar? I'll be playing mainly CoD, GTA V, and other popular games. I'll be pairing the GPU with an i5 4460 and 8gb of RAM.

So I finally decided that its time to overclock my gpu. My card is the Sapphire R9 280X Toxic and it is water cooled with the Alphacool waterblock which is some what of a hybrid block with the core water cooled and the rest of the card on a giant heatsink. What the block is like for reference http://www.performance-pcs.com/alphacool-nexxxos-gpx-ati-r9-280x-m05-w-backplate-black.html . My specs on the card as it came from the factory is a core clock of 1150 mhz, memory speed at 1600 mhz and core voltage at 1.2 volts. This is what I got from MSI Afterburner. According to GPU-Z the asic quality is at 59.3%. With this information how would you go about overclocking this card that is stable and good for long term use, until I decide to get a new card maybe sometime next year depending on what AMD and NVIDIA bring to the table.

So... On Sept. 25th, I decided to try and RMA my dead r9 280x. I didn't have much hope for it, since it's an older card, and I had already purchased an MSI GTX 970 100 million edition to replace it. Still, I was like, what the hey, let's do it. They received it on Oct. 5th and then held on to the package for a few weeks with no response. I didn't wanna bother them about it since I already have my 970, so I just let them do their own thing. Last week they replied and said that they do not have any replacement R9 280x GPUs available, so they asked me if I wanted to do a swap. I said sure after seeing what they were offering. Ready for it guys and girls? Ta~Da!

Hello, i am posting here because i have bought a R9 280x VTX3D (powercolor rebrand in europe) to replace my Radeon HD 6790 nearly 1 month ago, and lately it is acting quite weird, but i dont know what is wrong. I have a Corsair GS600w bronze+ (i know it is the previous generation of the CX600, but 5 years ago i didnt know much about electronics and computer hardware). The 6790 was pretty far pushed with a custom bios flashed, about 1020mhz on the core and 1200mhz on the mem speed, but there were no issues at all with 2HDD and 1 ssd, paired with my i5 2320@ 3Ghz. The problem is now, with the 280x, i have pushed it at 1100Mhz on the core and 1625 mhz on the mem speed, and after some weeks it started acting weird (i stress tested for 3 hours without any problems), like pc shutdowns, no image on the screen(while the music in the background playing normally) and i decided to back down a little. Now i am on 1000Mhz on the core and 1500Mhz on the mem speed.(note that the card out of box has 1050mhz on the core and1500mhz on the mem speed), but it still shutdowns/black screen , even when i am just surfing the web. I did some research and found out that my system nearly draws about 590w. Would the cards weird function be a psu's problem, or is the gpu faulty? how i can find out ?

Hello guys, I've already made a similar post back in the summer, but couldnt find it back again. So I've experienced a cold start problem with my pc after I got my gpu replaced with a new one (rma cause was HUGE coil whine). Pc specs are the following: Asrock fm2+ a88x extreme 4+ Athlon 860k (4.2 ghz overclock) club 3d r9 280 royalqueen (non X version) before rma, and now MSI r9 280x psu - cooler master b600 v2 WD blue 1 tb crusial 4gbx2 1600 So with old club3d gpu pc was booting just fine and worked with no problem. After I got my gpu replaced with MSI 280x I instantly got "cold start" issue (no posts, no beeps, nothing on the monitor, only fans spinning). My pc could boot only after 4 or 5 attempts, but after that it was working fine. Still, after I turned pc off and tried to start it the next day I got the same problem. I thought that my PSU was not giving enough power to my new gpu. I checked power specs for this gpu on msi webpage and it shows 500w psu recomended. Even so club 3d gpu was given 700w recomended psu, and it worked like a dream... except coil whine ofc. Then for some reason my mobo stopped to recognize one of ram sticks... and then 2 ram slots stopped working at all. So i've put ram into other 2 slots and it worked. I was sure that my mobo was dying and probably psu was not enough. What I tried already: clearing cmos, updating bios to latest version (2.9), flashing drivers and reinstalling them, build pc out of case, running with no overclocks. Sadly I cant check every single piece of my pc separatly. Last night I was ready to bring my pc today to local ITservice for diagnostic, but before that I've found 1 "solution". So I took every pc part out and did an open stand again. Switched pc on with no gpu and no hdd, only cpu+mobo+ram. Mobo gave 5 short beeps (I assume it's tells that gpu is missing). Then I installed gpu back again into pcie 16x slot. I got no beeps, no post on my monitor. Only fans were spinning. After pressing power button several times and rebooting pc eventualy started. But after shutting down same problem occures. So I've switched my gpu to pci 4x slot. And everything worked fine, even all ram slots started to work for no reason, tested all 4. Booted like a dream etc even after complete shut down. I'll test it again 2 days later and it will show the results. But it was promising. Concluding I want to ask: what is the problem? Is it bad 16x slot (but my previous gpu worked fine in it)? Or gpu in 4x slot uses a fraction less power and my psu can handle this on booting (which is wierd because after cold start my psu runs gpu in 16x slot no problem even with overclocks)? Or my gpu is somehow incompatible with 16x slot? Or Jezus just wants me to get a life and not sit behind a pc all day long

Hello all, I have a PowerColor TurboDuo Radeon R9 280x OC edition that has a core clock of 1030MHz out of the box and a memory clock of 1500MHz out of the box. I am most likely going to be using MSI Afterburner or the Radeon settings to overclock the card. My question is how far can I push this card and keep it stable? My case has good air flow and the card normally under a stress test stays relatively cool. Update: With overclock my max core clock is 1210MHz and my memory clock is at 1550MHz, I can go higher with memory clock but for some reason I have to lower my core clock other wise it becomes unstable in games. So core clock on over clock is a 180MHz boost. Which makes a noticeable difference when playing a game.

So i've been thinking of upgrading my rig. But i want to buy another r9 280x because i already have one and i want to still keep using the one that I have right now. So that's why I'm thinking about crossfiring the 2. But i have some questions. 1) will this increase my performance dramatically or not that much? 2) what about power consumption? Currently using an 750w psu from corsair. Will this be sufficient and enough? 3) is there a way to maybe crossfire an r9 380(x)? Because it's much easier to get. And cheaper. 4) will i have to buy some adequate fans to go along and cool those 2 cards down? Thx for taking the time to read this question... Appreciate it!! ;-)

So christmas is upon us and all the little students have managed to amass some cash so that they can buy something nice for themselves. My something nice is hopefully going to a shiny new graphics card. For 1080p and for the price, the 280x is looking very good, however i'm worried about it's thirst for power. I have a Corsair CX 500M powering an A10 7700K, 2 sticks of ram, 4 fans, a SSD, a hard drive and a soon to be gone 750TI. This thing----> http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator says that with the 280x my system would require about 480W, however I want to know if you guys would consider safe running the 280x on my system as is or if a power supply uprage is needed.

I've been looking for parts for a build I'm going to do and I'm wondering which card would be the best choice, mainly performance wise. As far as I've seen they are both around the same price range if I'm looking to get the 4gb vram 380. So which one should I buy?

Here is a picture of what my monitor looks like when the issue occurs: I have had this issue three times over the last two times. Every time it happened while chrome was open. I already updated my gpu drivers and turned off gpu acceleration in chrome. I have been playing lots of the witcher 2 and did not have this issue while in game, so it does not seem to be due to high temps. Suspected culprits: -Main monitor, the ASUS VG248qe which is known to have problems (My first one was bad and had half the panel in white and black horizontal lines, I rma'd it) -GPU, a Sapphire r9 280x toxic (No overclock, first one also rma'd, this is my second) -Windows 10 What it is not: -Displayport cable (Also happens over HDMI) Here is what I know so far: -Restarting fixes the issue for a while, the issue does not occur in the bios or when selecting an os (I have dual boot) -It has not happened in any program other than chrome, even while playing game and being 70C. -Switching the monitor to hdmi when the issue occurs (It is normally displayport), the issue still occurs, but switching it back to display port seems to fix the issue, but I have only tried this once -The menus on the monitor look normal when the issue occurs. -If I capture the screen when the issue occurs with open broadcastor, the screen looks normal. What I plan to try next: -When the issue occurs, plug it in via hdmi to my xbox and see if the issue still occurs PLEASE HELP, any thoughts you have please leave them below. My monitor and gpu should still be under warranty, I just have to know which it is. Specs: i5 4670k Asrock z87 extreme4 Rosewill Hive 750w 16gb Gskill RipjawsX 1600mhz Corsair Air 540 Sapphire Toxic r9 280x
