Hi, I have an R9 280X ( tri-x oc and stuff ) for an eGPU ( the adaptator still on transit ) and I don't know what is the cheapest and working PSU I can get with 2 x 8pins connectors.

I recently bought a 1070 and i've been having some issues with frame rate drop and I'm wondering if there might be something wrong with my gpu or not. I used the same settings, everything LOW on TW3 and compared my fps from my 280x to my 1070 (both with v-sync on). The 280x runs it almost at 60 fps but its constant and smooth, no stuttering and sudden fps drops. The 1070 experiences fps drops which I don't get. Could the 1070 be forcing my CPU to throttle? I remember reading that sometimes this happens, but I don't get why. If I was playing on ULTRA settings then I could understand the GPU was trying to work harder and my CPU was slowing it down, but... at low settings there shouldn't be an issue with CPU throttle... right? I'm currently on the prowl for a gpu after my brother moved out (taking his PC I've been using with him) And I have found a plethora of options and im fuckin torn over all of them lol I found an HD 7970 for $100 on craigslist with "Very low operating time." If I choose to pursue this card I'm going to try to get him down to $80 because duh I found a GTX 1060 for $150 on craigslist. I already reached out to the guy with an offer for it but have received no response. (It's a fairly old post so he might have sold it or something) I found a GTX 780 3GB for 150 I found a pair of GTX 760s 110 a piece or 190 for both (slightly negotiable) I found a pair of R9 280xs for 120 a piece or 220 for both I am a semi-competitive rainbow six siege player so maximum performance is a factor. but im also tight on cash and want the best mix of cost and perf. I can afford any of the offers listed above but I don't just want to buy the most expensive cards. Id rather spend 150 on a 1060 than 190 for the 760s if I get more performance per dollar. I play the game with settings in the most performance oriented way possible. Advice?

I recently bought a used R9 280X Toxic for about $100 at a garage sale. Paired it with a Ryzen 5 1600 for my rig I use in university. Wanted to flash the BIOS, but upon opening GPU-Z, I saw that it was flashed with a Vapor X 280X BIOS. I tried flashing compatible 280X (Hynix) BIOS but all I got was BSOD upon landing on the start screen. So, I flashed back to the BIOS that came with it and everything works as it was. I'm pretty confused. Is this supposed to happen? Is it possible for me to flash to the Toxic BIOS without the BSOD? Hello last year I bought a XFX R9 280x Double D from Amazon, a couple days after building my newly built gaming pc an i5 4590, 8GB of Crucial ballistic ram, 750w Corsair power supply, ASRock Fatalty z97 killer mother board, 1TB Segate HDD I started to notice that in games I would start to get graphic artifacts textures stretching, pixels that would flicker etc games were unplayable once they started happening. Then after I would exit the game hoping the graphic artifacts would stop I would go and watch youtube videos, I would get lines in the youtube videos as well as just browsing the internet I would get lines across the browser flickering from time to time. I did some research and found out that the core clock speed and the memory clock speed is to high and people recommend to down clock both the core and memory speeds just a little bit. After doing so it fixed it for about a day and started back up again. I called XFX and soon got a RMA after putting the new GPU in and played around in some games and got more graphic problems the problem seemed like it never stopped. I've went about a week or so without having problems and then it continued some days would be better than others. The pictures below make me confused because during idle or even just at the desktop the memory clock would go from 150 MHz to 1500 the core clock would go from 300 MHz and jump up to 850 MHz randomly without having anything on my desktop or without doing anything other than having MSI afterburner open I put some pictures of the hardware monitors could anyone help me with this I also called XFX for the third time and even without having my Warranty active they are still going to RMA the card sadly I feel like this will not help me or fix the problem because RMAing the card once didn't help they sent me two bad cars so what are your guys idea on what should I do? Thank you

Is the R9 280x still worth getting in 2017? Can it run the modern games in 1080p at high settings?

Hello, So I have previously wanted to upgrade to an R9 270X but didn't have the money however now I have more money and I can buy an R9 280X 3GB for possibly £95 instead... ...The only problem is that my PC only has a 500W power supply and I know this would struggle with an R9 280X on it. The good news is that I have two spare PSU's, a 250 watt and a 400 watt. Am I able to use my 500W PSu plus the 250 watt (or) 400 watt PSU if I use an Add2PSU adapter? This is what I plan to use: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Add-2PSU-Multiple-Power-Supply-Adapter-Run-Multiple-PC-Computer-PSU-Together-/252994283305?epid=9003338571&hash=item3ae7a26729:g:slkAAOSwvjdZQ1fp I also want to know: When using the Add2PSU adapter, will it allow my PC to go into sleep mode (or not) without the second PSU constantly on? Thanks - BP

Hi guys, I'm trying to overclock my GPU for the first time but I'm a little confused because my MSI Afterburner settings don't match the guide's settings: Guide: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2749337/safe-gpu-overclocking-guide-2016.html For example: 1) Afterburner doesn't give me the option of clicking an arrow with "Power Limit". I have an arrow next to "Core Voltage (mV)" and it opens up a subsection with different items. I can't seem to get the "Temp Limit" 2) The units for settings such as "Core Voltage (mV)" and "Power Limit (%)" aren't the same either. When the guide drags the bar to max for both items, the values read Core Voltage (mV) = +87 and Power Limit (%) = 110. However, when I do the same, my readings are Core Voltage (mV) = 1300 and Power Limit (%) = +20. I don't want to continue with the overclocking because: 1) I want to be able to set an upper limit for my GPU's Temperature, just like in the guide. 2) It doesn't seem like maxing out the settings for "Core Voltage (mV)" and "Power Limit (%)" is going to have the same effect for me. The guide seems to get an additional 87 mV when "Core Voltage (mV)" is maxed, whereas for me the reading goes from 1144 mV to 1300 mV, which is a difference of 156 mV (not 87). Similarly, when the guide adjusts it's "Power Limit (%)" to the max, it's increasing it to 110%. For me, the reading goes from +0 to +20 which isn't the same either because I don't know if I'm achieving 110% like the guide says or if I'm just adding 20% to whatever the base is. I don't know if this stuff matters, but my instincts are telling me to hold off until I've figured out the differences between the guide's and my settings/readings. Thanks for all the help, Riqsha Video Card: PowerColor R9 280X

Hey Guys. So i have a sapphire R9 280x Vapor-x Version. Its 2 years old now. I was cleaning my PC and after putting the the card back in started the game and the computer restarted. I started it and again it happened so i was like something happened to gpu. I removed it, cleaned the card and reinserted it. It was working but now whenever i run any game, doesn't matter which settings it lags. Like 5-10 fps only. I dont know what to do. I have searched online and there aren't any solutions. I thought maybe the card was getting hot and but the temperature remains in 60-ish. So i don't think its related to temperature. So im asking if anyone knows whats going on or does anyone have any solution for this dilemma. My computer specs are : i5 4570 1 tb hdd thermaltake dps G 750W. gigabyte h97 gaming 3. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

Hello, I am having a problem with my AMD R9 280x because I can't seem to change anything that involves power on the card, it's like it is locked. I have overclocked on it before, so I don't know what is going on! For example, I want to change the stock 1600mhz memory clock to 1500mhz because this card has a tendency to artifact at those stock voltages, I move the slider, apply and.... NOTHING, the graph says its still running at 1600mhz. GPU clock is currently running at 970mhz when asus advertises it at 1070mhz and even when I reset settings it resets to 1070mhz, but it STILL stays at 970. I move the power bat to max, change core voltage, nothing seems to change! Just look at this picture to understand what I'm saying: Right now, I'm really not happy because I am running on an underclocked card to what was sold to me. Not even resetting settings changes anything! Tried multiple overclocking softwares, none work, including the amd overdrive. Any ideas on what might be going on?

Hi LTT forum, I am planning to upgrade my PC since my gpu - Asus R9 280X DC II Top died almost 2 years ago thinking of going for nvidia this time rtx 2070 super seems to be good for playing at 1080p for now, & will suit if i plan to go 1440p but since i5 4440 is too weak for that, i am going to build the entire tower- except internal storage following are the parts i have shortlisted- 1. gigabyte windforce rtx 2070 super (500$) 2. Ryzen 7 3700x (330$) 3. G.Skills ripjaws v series 3200 8GBx2 (75$) / haven't decided mobo yet. My steam library just for reference to what games i play - https://steamcommunity.com/id/beingGamer/games/?tab=all&sort=playtime Questions. 1. are these parts good enough for smooth 1080p & 1440p 2. gigabyte windforce rtx 2070 super for 500$, is this a good deal? 3. Shall I go for 2060 super instead of 2070 super? Can it handle 1440p/higher refresh rates? 4. Please suggest a mobo(not too expensive/cheap)

Hi, wew, a friend of mine got a R9 280x vapor-x for almost 3 years, and when he was playing next to me, the display just get black, and no signal, we click to reset, and wew, dead maybe, never experienced a dead card, but i got into the bios, and enabled igpu as first display, so i logged into the windows, checked Display Adapter on device manager, and the ...R9 200 series was there, with a triangle of error, ok, did check, its windows code 43, so just to give a try, i've made a clean driver instalation, and it just get partial instaled as it says, after that, i just open to check if may be some burn signs, but no one i can see, so i decided to try a x-fire with my own R9 280x, but neither me or him have the x-fire cable, them, i've put it back on his pc, and that error, on display adapters was long gone, saying that everything is fine, tryed again with gpu output, no video, i wanna know if someone experienced something like this and may know a way to fix or at last "use" something of the gpu, i wonder if it on x-fire, if still "fine" as windows says may work, as a 2nd gpu, if it do, i will buy a xfire bridge (expensive on my country and thats why i wanna know opinions), and maybe, a way to use it like the "mining gpu with no video output that linus posted" using igpu to just do everything, and just to game, maybe extract something of gpu.

Hey guys yesterday i bought a second hand 280x toxic and everything was great. But there is on small problem every now and then my monitor will blink like it's rescaling the resolution or smth. Right now the dual bios button on the card is pushed in assuming that i'm using the UEFI bios now. My motherboard is Asus Pro Gaming Aura 970 so i guess it has UEFI Bios. Should i revert to using legacy one on the card because before the strange stuff happening everything was good with the button not pushed in.

I recently purchased an r9 280x off of ebay (seller said it was used for mining) I put it in my new system build: Ryzen 3 2200g MSI B350M Bazooka G.Skill - Aegis 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory Corsair VS 500w 80+ Daven A600 Case Generic 7200 rpm hard drive whenever i open fortnite, screen will flicker and it will sometimes wait a few minutes before crashing. When it crashes, I have to press the RESET switch, and the system will then boot up again. I don't know what is wrong with my system, PLEASE HELP!!

So, last week a friend of mine bought a new gpu for his computer and He let me the one he was using before: Sapphire AMD R9 280X Vapor-x 3gb GDDR5. He was able to play several games on MID/HIGH graphs on a 1080p configuration with no problem at all, getting a frame rate around the 30/60 fps. The problem appears when We installed It on my computer. After booting on secure mode We proceed to uninstall the drivers of the previous gpu I was using (using DDU). So We turned off the PC, mounted the R9 280X and boot it again, then we installed the last drivers for the graph: Adrenalin 18.12.1 (Nov, 22,2018). There was no problem at all until the momment We decided to give it a try on Battlefield 1. I am no capable of playing the game on low settings (in 720p) with a stable framerate, always dropping and lagging. I am not expecting to play with 120fps, due It is a kinda old gpu, but having those issues in low settings is not what I expected from the R9 280X. I also tried other games like Fortnite or Dragon Ball FighterZ and It is not giving the results It should give. It is no problem of the gpu because last week I tested It on my friend's computer and It was OK, having a stable framerate on MID/HIGH settings. I also checked the bottleneck that could cause with the other devices of my PC, having a 4% (https://thebottlenecker.com/calculator?d=2b7-4d-1-64-64-5bce1f13&m=697d). I am not any expert on the gpu field, so I am asking this from the point of view of a person with 0 knowledge about the way of configurating the gpu, stress-test, msi-afterburner... Thanks in advance guys! These are my PC specifications: Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) X4 950 Quad Core Processor (4 CPUs) ~3.5GHz Memory: 16384MB RAM Card name: AMD Radeon R9 200 Series Display Memory: 10698 MB Dedicated Memory: 3052 MB Shared Memory: 7646 MB Current Mode: 1366 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)

started a few months ago but is becoming more frequent. Happens randomly, though usually soon after starting PC it would seem. Sometimes sound continues for a few seconds but then it cuts off. Waiting does nothing, have to hit that hard reset button. My PC also freezes sometimes when i hover over a movie title on netflix and it doesnt recover, I have to hit reset again. When it freezes on netflix the screens don't turn grey. Is this a graphics card problem? Or could it be another piece of hardware or even software?

FX-6300 with no OC DeepCool Gammaxx 200T 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B) SEAGATE Desktop SSHD 1TB ST1000DX001 Cooler Master N200 case I'd like to buy an R9 280 or R9 280x, but I'm not sure if my PSU can handle it. My PSU is a Cooler Master Silent Pro 500w and by the numbers its efficiency is 85%. I read about similar configs with the same questions and I have mixed feelings, so I want to hear people's opinion about my config. I would be fine even if I had to underclock it a little bit (3-4% max) since I wanna protect the card from overheating anyways. (my previous r9 270x died of overheating with minimal OC) edit: I'm not looking for a specific r9 280/ r9 280x tho

So I'm deciding to buy used gpu. I'm either going for a r9 280x or a rx 560. I will make sure they are not used for mining. The r9 280x performs better than the 560 but the 560 is more new. The 280x is only 3gb while the 560 il be looking at is 4gb. So if you guys don't mind help me out here. What would be the pros and cons and what gpu should I be buying. I have a Kraken x61 hooked up to my R9 280X using a Kraken G12, and the thing just isn't cooling. I followed the instructions all the way through (Even though the Kraken cooler doesn't fit particularly well with the bracket, ironically), including using a copper shim on R9 280X cards (I have a 1mm unit on). I have liquid metal between the GPU die and shim, and between the shim and cooler (As I had on the air cooler before this). I used to have it overclocked to 1175MHz/1500MHz with +38mV on the air, and it handled that just fine (Never went above 70 degrees on Unigine's Heaven Benchmark). Now if I boot the benchmark the GPU will hit 90 degrees within two seconds of starting. I've tried taking the shim out (Put it back in after it made no difference), I've tried reseating everything, I've lowered the overclock down, I've tried reapplying the liquid metal... Nothing seems to work. Always, it instantly heats up to 90 degrees when loaded, and falls back down extremely quickly after (Within seconds of quitting the benchmark, it'll be at 50 degrees; If I wait about ten seconds after than, it'll fall back down to the low 40s). I'm hoping has some sort of "eureka" idea, because it's incredibly frustrated having my GPU be basically worthless right now.
