Hey guys, I just got a Sapphire R9 280 Dual-X OC and I'm looking for some mild overclocking advise as there isn't a lot specific for this card on the web (it's all about the 280X, the glory hog). I'm just using the overdrive utility and I have it at 1Ghz core with 10% power limit. Temps don't go past the 67-68 Celsius mark. How much further do you guys think I can safely push it?

What are the pros and cons of going with a gigabyte r9 280 instead of a gigabyte r9 270x 4gb? Hi, I want to buy the R9 280x, but i am not sure my old PSU is good enough I have a Corsair CX 500w PSU (http://www.corsair.com/en/cx500-80-plus-bronze-certified-power-supply) BTW, I have a FX4100, 16BG ram, one HDD and one DVD player Would this PSU be enough?

So in the near future i am probably going to be getting an amd fx 6300 with an r9 280 and originally 8gb of ram. but now i found out that for only about $20-$30 more i can get the same speed and brand of ram only 16gb instead of 8gb. The 8gb would be a dual 4gb, and the 16 would be a dual 8gg. My motherboard supports up to only 16gb but does have 4 dimm slots. I Know that the 16gb of ram bottleneck my cpu and most likely my gpu and it is not necessary for just gaming. However not that i'm believe in future proofing i still think this might be necessary in the near furor and might help my pc last a little longer in games. So my question is would you guys get the 16gb of ram over the 8gb even thought it would definitely bottleneck my pc. Also would the ram bottle necking my pc actually matter, i don't really think it will but i just wanted to hear some other opinions. Thanks so much for the help!

So i am looking into building a medium/high end gaming rig, i already have the mobo, ram, hdd, psu, case, cpu (fx 6300), but not a gpu pick out. I have a very limited amount of money and need to decide between getting either an evga 750 ti, or an msi r9 280. I know that the r9 280 is much better, however it is about $100 more, if i got the 750 ti i could keep the psu i have now and that would also save me a lot of money too (the psu i have now probably should be upgraded anyway since it is an unknown brand and not 80+ certified). But still i cant decide if it is worth it to spend the extra money for the r9 280. As far as other gpus stand i want the r9 280 over the gtx 660 and 760 because it is better than both and only about $230, also the r9 270 and 270x i have crossed out because if i am going to spend $200 i would rather just spend another $30 for the extra performance. Also when helping me keep in mind that i am truing 16 in about a month and will also be saving up for a car and a boat.

Will the Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H motherboard bottleneck the i5 4460 and the R9 280?

Hey, can someone tell me how this system can handle 1080p at high to ultra settings? Like 30's or above 40's? I play games like Crysis, Borderlands, GTA, Bioshock, Battlefield, etc.. I've been a LTT view for a few months now and have lurked around the forum for a while but never really got involved so here's my first crack at it. Reasoning for build I'm coming off a a cheap HP laptop that runs an AMD CPU that ran at more that 95 degrees before I tried ripping the motherboard out to try an clean the heat sink out. Location Location Location I live in Canada and have both an NCIX and Canada Computers in my area so, I would prefer to buy local to save on shipping, but wouldn't mind too much about buying online from trusted sites like Tiger Direct, Newegg, or Amazon Budget I want to aim for under $800 but will cap out at $900, so I will need some help trying to reduce costs of what I had in mind. Peripherals and Monitors Yes, I`m including the monitor in the budget- more on the monitor later I don`t need an OS I I already have Windows 7 and will be reusing an the SSD in my laptop In terms of a keyboard, I will include in the budget but...I have a cheap wireless Logitech key board but have been on the market for a mechanical one and have been eyeing the Logitech g710+ so any opinions on it would be nice , The main reason I `m interested in it is because of the dedicated media keys, volume scroll wheel, white back light, G/ Macros keys and the Cherry MX Browns that have the tactile bump but are still reasonably quiet compares to the Blues. So the only really request from the MOBO I have is compatibility with my CPU and case and I guess decent on board sound and USB 3.0 4 Ram slots so that I can upgrade to 16gb of Ram later RAM- I'll basically buy the cheapest 2x 4gb set of 1600 mhz ram as dual channel is faster than a single stick of 8gb ram, unless I can find a really good deal as they do seem a bit cheaper. However I would like to know which brand of RAM I should trust should I find a deal, I think Kingston's HyperX fury or older blu lines, G skill's Ripjaw, and Adata's XPG seem legit, Corsair's Vengence is usually more expensive. But how are crucial's ballistic because I see Austin Evens use it a lot in his build guides, and Mushkin? SSD- I'll be reusing the Samasung SSD I used to upgrade my laptop a few years a ago and chucking the stock one back in, but I will the SDD and OS loaded on it work if I just plug and play into my new system? Will the my new MOBO need to set up some sort of new settings from its BIOS? HDD- I needed at least 1TB of storge so I figured that the cheaper Seagate Baracuda is a better option that the WD blue or Black that costs more GPU- The fun part!- There are a few r9 280s on sale for only 20-30 bucks more than an r9 270x so I went for the beefer 3gb of vram 280s. However I'm crossed up between Gigabyte's Windforce card and Sapphire's Dual X Card as they are on sale for the same price. I think out of the two brands most people Sapphire but although Gigabyte's Windfoce I beieve is louder, comes with frees games (the AMD never settle Gold bundle). So which card? Case- Unless there are better options, I think I stay with an ATX case. The only main requirement is that the case can't exceed 17 inches in height as anything tall won't fit under my old school PC desk that has a special spot for the PC tower. I figure'd that Corsair's more open design will be easier for a first timer like me to build in, and I like the simplistic look, so I went for th 200r (and it's pretty cheap for a Corsair case) PSU- PC Part Picker rated my system for drawing 439W so I figured a 500W supply would be enough. My question is other than better cable management, does a modular supply deliver better efficiency since there are less or no loose and unwired cables in the case? I think this is one of places I can probably save a bit if I go for a non modular supply like EVGA one on sale at NCIX ODD- I'm just old school and could use a disk drive Monitor- The one I chose is what I could find to be the cheapest 1080p IPS display with at least 1 HDMI port for a future PS4 I might hook up to, and it "frameless", but is AOC a trusted brand? Just a quick question, is it even worth it to spend the extra money on an R9 280 (not x) vs just buying a 270x?

I have to buy a gpu for my system. So i have to choose one of these. I am an Nvidia fan but the r9 280 is really promising and is almost in the same price. In my country the r9 280 is 30euros cheaper than the gtx 760 but the r9 280x is 40euros more expensive than the gtx 760. If i had the money for the r9 280x i would go with that but my budget is really really tight... Generally i don't want to spend more than 220euros(almost 250$) for gpu. And in some years maybe i will go for two gpu's(sli or crossfire). Now there is, also, the asus r9 280 strix oc edition 15euros more expensive than the gtx 760 and i don't know if it's worth the more money cause if it does i am willing to spend these 15euros(spesifically if i will buy the gtx 760 gpu i will go with the gigabyte windforce 3x oc edition in 250euros and if i will buy with the r9 280 i will go with the asus directcu II top edition in 195euros). I have seen some benchmarks and reviews but they seem amlost similar. Nvidia has much much better drivers and updates than amd when it comes to gpu's and the gtx 760 has better clock speeds than the r9 280, but i really like the fact that the r9 280 has 3gb memory instead of the 2gb memory in gtx 760 and the memory buss is higher in r9 280. I have overclocked my R9 280 (non-x) to 1100 core clock and 1400 memory clock. Core temps seem to be fine, never exceed 73C, but I can't seem to check my VRM temps. Both HWmonitor and GPU-Z are not showing the information. Is this because the R9 280 (non-x) doesn't have a sensor on the VRM?? Should I attempt pushing my overclock further, or wait until I find a way to check VRM temps? NOTE: Voltage is locked on this GPU, I can't change it in Afterburner. Is this why they have not put a sensor on the VRM? Since I won't be changing the voltage, I guess the VRM temps shouldn't change much? http://imgur.com/a/1hkwS Sorry, I took the GPU-Z screenshot after everything cooled down, but you can see the lack of a VRM sensor.

I just bought my graphics card for my computer build, and the sag on this card is pretty heavy. I have some wooden dowels to use as a support on the plastic fan frame. The area around the fans are pretty solid, and I think they will support the card well. It would have a layer of foam between the card and the wood. The model is a MSI twin frozr 280x 6gb edition. The sag worries me, and would this also be an adequate response to it.
