What's a safe overlock WITHOUT changing the voltage? Can you also include the temperatures you get when you overclock it?

Hi guys, I bought my Asus R9 270X a couple of months ago, it was all good until one day I tried to play Darksiders II, TRIED, when I started it the coil whine comming from my GPU was unbearable, I said to myself meh .. one game it's not like I get that nasty noise from all games. But when I started opening more and more games there was that flickering of random rectangles all over my screen. They were not always there but quite frequent for me to notice. Is it with all of AMD cards like that ? I heard that nvidia's gpus are more likely not to have coil whine or flickering .. should have I chosen nvidia gpu..nvmd that last one.Drivers and everything is up to date, and yes they're the right ones.So is there a fix except returning it (which is impossible in my case)?

Is it possible to crossfire a R9 270 with a 270x ? If im correct the only thing different is the core clock speeds ?

This is my current rig.. and will upgrade them one at a time to a not too distant future  AMD A10 5800K >> FX6300 AsRock Fm2A55m HD+ >> AsRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 8GB GSkills RipJawz 1600 Corsair VS 450W >> Corsair HX650 What will I get? (will also change, because of these miners. haha) 270x = 200 USD 750ti = 180 USD AT this price tag in my country (Philippines) its obvious to get the 270x. But I do give a high consideration on how much power I could save by getting the 750ti. So I need a real world opinion on this decision. I might be getting this on april. Also, as of now, the most graphic intensive game that I play is NFS Rivals + other internet and programming stuffs. What would be my best buy? (consider on mining too, if ever lol) a better GPU but power hungry a good GPU that is really power efficient

First time poster here Some questions: 1. Is there waterblock that would fit msi r9 270x 2GB gaming edition? Im planing to do custom loop for crossfire setup in mATX case so I have to water cool them. If there isnt, does kraken g10 and corsair h55 fit this same card? And if they do can I put 2 cards next to each other (mATX case so only 4 slots for two dual slot cards) or is kraken g10 too thick? Thanks!!!!!!!!

What are the pros and cons of going with a gigabyte r9 280 instead of a gigabyte r9 270x 4gb? First time I've chosen my own parts, so need help and opinions. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125515 instead ofhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125496 And would it fit in a Coolermaster HAF 922? Hey, one question regarding binning of GPU's. I have 4 R9 270X cards that currently reside in my altcoin mining rig. However, due to absurd energy prices in SoCal, mining may soon be irrelevant, and so I am planning on converting the mining rig into a gaming rig for myself. So, my question, is it possible to personally bin/check which GPU is the better binned of the 4, as I can only run 2 of them in Crossfire, and would like to use the best 2 of the 4 cards in my personal rig. Any and all help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

So I just bought an ASUS R9 270X (Model R9270X-DC2T-2GD5) and I cannot get it to to show anything on the monitors when booting. System Specs: Gigabyte GAZ77-D3H Rev 1.0 BIOS F16 Intel Pentium G2020 2x4GB Corsiar XMS3 1333MHz Zalman ZM500-GS System will boot happily on integrated graphics with the GPU installed but not powered, if I try to boot with the GPU powered it will not get to POST on either the HDMI connection on the GPU or VGA on the motherboard. I do not have a DVI capable monitor and currently do not have any DVI to VGA or DVI to HDMI adaptors (though I have ordered them so they should be here soon). I have tried running the GPU on the PCI-E power connectors and also 1 PCI-E power and 1 dual molex convertor in the hopes of splitting it between both rails with no avail. I do not have access to another machine in which to test the card and I have never had a GPU in this machine previously so have no way of testing if it is the PCI-E causing problems. This also means I have no video card drivers installed so no need to uninstall them.

Hello, I've been having some trouble lately, I bought a pre-built system from a site called www.komplett.se They are well known in sweden and have some great rep. I bought a bundle with pc+monitor+keyboard/mouse I've been happy all this time until I played Borderlands 2 when it was free for 3 days on steam... I noticed how I couldn't play it at ALL, I turned it down to the lowest settings 1080p; 20 fps.... Is there something wrong? (Obviously) I've seen guys play this 1080p with the same CPU and GPU on ultra 1080p with everything maxed at around 80 fps... I mean COME ON BF4 on low is like 20 fps also... Whilst my friend with the same cpu and gpu is playing on ultra with 70+ I also checked with GPU-Z and it stops the vram at 1gb... -.- with a 2gb card dafuq? HELP! Here are my specs btw; Cooler Master B500, 500W PSU Cooler Master HAF 912 Adv. Midi Tower AMD FX-6300 6-Core Processor Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P, Socket-AM3+ Crucial DDR3 BallistiX Sport 1600MHz 8GB XFX Radeon R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 Seagate Barracuda® 1TB Samsung DVD Writer, SH-224DB Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-bit Any help will be appreciated

Back in March, I replaced the stock thermal compound on my GPU with Antec Nano Diamond Formula 7. Everything was good for a while and I had GPU Temps at 40-50C while playing games. The card usually idles around 30C with 0% activity. A couple of days ago, the fan speed hit 100% while playing Saints Row 3 so I applied new thermal compound. Just now, the fan speed hit 80% and the temperature was about 74C while Thief was running. This has never happened to my card before, so I am a little worried about what could happen. Any suggestions as to what to do? I may have applied too much thermal paste last time so that could be a start.

Hey guys, I just want to ask about a gaming rig i want to build. Do you think it´s ok? What would you do different? or would you go with a different choice of components? I am just asking about your opinion. So the idea is a Dual Screen (one for gaming and second one for basic stuff like internet etc. opened at the same time) small, good cooled, silent microATX build that could run any new game on decent fps and performance and won´t really need any update for the next 4-5 years in terms of games. So here´s the build: MOBO: ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 CPU: AMD FX-8350 4GHz RAM: 2x 4GB Kingston HyperX Blue, 1600MHz DDR3 with XMP GPU: MSI AMD Radeon R9 270X Gaming 4GB 1030MHz PSU: Cooler Master G650M, 650W, 80+ Bronze HDD: Seagate Barracuda Desktop HDD.15 500GB (i will buy another at least 1TB HDD later when needed) Monitors: 2x Samsung S22C350HS 22inch Case: Cooler Master N200 CPU cooler: Corsair H100i with Noctua NF-F12 PWM fans, the whole thing mounted on the front panel for the case cooling i´ll use all fan slots on the case(2x front, 1x up, 1x back, 1x side) and ill use the Noctua NF-F12 PWM on them and that should be all that really matters. For like peripherals i´ll use some Razer DeathStalker keyboard, Mamba wireless optical mouse and Kraken Pro Black headset. Samsung DVD-RW and fot the thermal paste i´ll stick with Arctic Silver - AS5 - 12G. It should all cost about 1,400 € ( yeah, i´m a european) and my max budget to go with is additional 100€ so 1,500€. So yeah, I want to thank you for your helpfull replies and have a nice day.

Need Help with Gaming Pc Build! (League of Legends)
xSkull posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
So I have this really old laptop that I play League of Legends with on Low Settings and get around 30 fps when in lane and 20 fps in teamfights. Im planning on creating a pc just for League of Legends and if the pc is strog enough, other games such as Skyrim and Far Cry. My price range is 800 $. You can also suggest laptops because I prefer laptops because I can watch movies on my bed . Anyways I have a build in mind. I don't need monitors, peripherals or an OS. Here is the build. Amd Fx 8320 Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 WD 1TB Blue 8.GB G.Skill Sniper Ram Cl9 Corsair CX 600 Corsair Carbide Series 200R And finally Asus R9 270x I'm planning to play other games if it can handle them. Feel free to suggest changes or just make a completely different build to mine with Intel/Nvidia. But all I'm mostly looking for is for LoL which is easily playable from the build I just made ty First post on LinusTechTips btw- 8 replies

Just wondering what you would choose and why, I would personally go with the 760s for higher performance efficiency, but I wonder what crossfire 270x's would be like in comparison.

So I was messing around on google's shopping section and was searching for an r7 270x, and all of a sudden I see a blurry picture of a reference r9 270x and a generic description of the item, and its sold from newegg, then after doing some further searching the only other reference card I could find was the 260x, what's weird is that these pages can't be accessed from new egg, but only from google shopping section, also on newegg they have no description, but they are labeled as in stock and can be added to your cart and be purchases, but I haven't seen anyone purchase either of these. I don't know if this interests anyone, or if this would be a good place to put this, but whatever. 270x: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?gclid=CO7W4srK9b0CFa9cMgod3R8AsQ&Item=N82E16814551014&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Desktop+Graphics+Cards-_-N82E16814551014&ef_id=U1coNgAAAQbUEkCC:20140423024054:s Item Number: N82E16814551014 260x: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?gclid=CKHolovL9b0CFclDMgodDWEAqg&Item=N82E16814551013&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Desktop+Graphics+Cards-_-N82E16814551013&ef_id=U1coNgAAAQbUEkCC:20140423024309:s Item Number: N82E16814551013 Edit: Also found reference R7 250: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814551012&Tpk=N82E16814551012 Item Number: N82E16814551012

Hey all, After seeing the lg 34 inch 21:9 video I am convinced to get a 21:9 after being tempted since I first saw them available! Now I am wondering what my r9 270x is capable of pushing. I've got an Asus r9 270x DCU2 TOP OC at 1200/1500MHz core/memory and an a10 5800k. Currently playing BF4, AC4, Borderlands 2, Dirt 3/showdown and others on a hp 22 inch 16:10 1680x1050 and it runs everything perfectly, just don't know how far I can push it without needing an upgrade. Any help much appreciated! Thanks P.s. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, let me know if I should move it to monitors or elsewhere.

So I finally got some spare money for the GPU ugrade. Now I'm running gts450 and i3 540 OC @ 4.3 ghz. I would like to get GTX 760, but for my CPU its overkill, so I decided to go with R9 270x. But, maybe its worth to upgrade CPU to used 1156 i5 from ebay and get GTX760, or should I stay with my current CPU and get R9 270x? I live in Lithuania, so pc parts here are very expensive.

Help me please! I have bought a new SAPPHIRE R9 270X 2GB OC yesterday. After consulting the user manual, I was able to install the GPU on my motherboard without any problem. Upon installation, I installed the latest (14.4) Drivers which seemed to work fine for 10-15 minutes after which my PC started to lag, I got a few "display driver had stopped responding and has recovered successfully" pop up messages. My PC restarted a few times with visible distortions on the monitor. After that I got no video from my GPU and "RAM/GPU error post code" could be heard. I went back to integrated graphics, uninstalled the AMD drivers and tried again. This continued with AMD drivers provided in the CD which came with the GPU(Ver. 13.9). I tried the Ver. 13.12 and 14.7Beta Drivers to no avail. I was able to either uninstall or restore my PC to a previous state to be able to use the GPU in 1024*768 Resolution using DVI to VGA during this process. Now I am unable to get any video output in Safe Mode or otherwise with all AMD drivers uninstalled. Every time I power up my GPU, I am unable to boot as I do not get any video output from my integrated GPU or the GPU itself. My system specification is i5 4570, ASUS H87 Plus, Kingston 8 GB 1600Mhz RAM, CX430, 1TB HDD. TL;DR ~ post with no video output. Installed 3-4 different drivers when it was functional which all led to errors and no video output state. Please help me solve this problem! Thanks A lot in advance!

I have run into somewhat of an issue. It revolves around my old computer and wanting more power; it is that, as i am on a budget, i am wondering if i should wait to do a full system build before buying any parts or buy the psu and gpu to beef up ny current (dual core) system. I can see the advantages of doing the latter but was wondering if there were any significant disadvantages to this. This is my first use of the linistechtips site, so my apologies if i have used it incorrectly, otherwise, thanks for your time!

The "Build" I purchased one of those "fancy" off the shelf computers at a Best Buy not long ago and it came with an AMD A8 6500 APU. The graphic part of the APU was fairly decent but not for what I wanted to do (Gaming). So the 1 stick of Ram (8GB) was ok but I replaced the PSU with a 750W Corsair and Bought a R9 270X (which was a little big for the case so I had to remove a little metal from the structure of the case) and rolled the computer back from Win 8 to Win 7. The Question I've herd it's possible to take the graphics part of an APU and turn it into a physics processor to do dirty work and make your dedicated graphics card more efficient. Is this true? How can I do this?

Best non reference cooler for the r9 280x/270? Also, is the additional cost of the R9 280x WORTH IT?
