Hi, I'm new to overclocking and wanted to ask why enabling the XMP profile on my RAM cause my games to crash? I have an MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max and T-Force Delta RGB 8x2 GB 3600 mHz. I've already updated my BIOS before installing my operating system and downloaded the latest drivers for my motherboard (from the MSI support website). Some other things worth noting: I use an HDD as my only drive because I have yet to purchase an NVME SSD, I have a Ryzen 5 2600X and an RX 580. Both my CPU and GPU are running on their base speed. I've only tried boosting my RAM. My friend advised me to try running my RAM on its base speed (2400 mHz) and see what happens. And surely, my games run just fine. I'm just curious if there is a way to utilize the maximum performance of my RAM without having issues.

Hi there, I would like to buy the Samsung 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD 2TB and put on the fastest (blazing) m.2 slot of a ASRock X670E PG Lightning ATX AM5 Motherboard. However on the motherboards QVL list for storage it doesn't list the 2TB version of the Samsung 980 Pro PCIe 4.0, only the 1TB version. Does this mean the 2TB version of the drive won't work at all since it's not on the QVL list or does it just mean it hasn't been tested officially by the motherboard OEM? If the latter is true then does anyone have any experience with pairing together a Samsung 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD 2TB and a ASRock X670E PG Lightning ATX AM5 Motherboard or similar ASRock board in the fastest blazing m.2 slot? I'm also welcome for suggestions for alternative 2TB PCIe 4.0 drives if the Samsung 2TB won't work. Thanks.

Hello, I am wondering regarding Ram combability with my new motherboard. I have decided on buying a ASUS TUF GAMING B650-Plus WIFI for my new computer and when looking and the qvl list it list KF560C36BBEK2-32 (FURY Beast DDR5 6000) as compatible and I would like to buy KINGSTON FURY Beast DDR5 RGB 6000 but this is not listed as compatible with my motherboard on qvl even the this site: https://pangoly.com/en/compatibility/kingston-fury-beast-rgb-32gb-2x16gb-ddr5-6000-cl36/motherboard says it does. My question is is it any difference in the rgb vs non-rgb RAM that makes it non compatible will I be safe in using the KINGSTON FURY Beast DDR5 RGB 6000 in my new rig ether way?

Memory: Kingston Fury Beast KF556C36BBEK2-64 (2x32GB DDR5-5600MT/s CL36 @1.25V EXPO/XMP) Issue: That specific memory kit is not on the QVL of the motherboard. Questions: 1. Will that kit work in this setup? 2. How risky is it to purchase non-QVL RAM?

Hi Everyone. I am pulling what hair I have left out trying to figure out this problem. I have a Crosshair VIII Dark Hero motherboard running 4201 with a 5900X, and an ROG Strix 3070. I have tried 4 different memory kits and every one of them lock up my system within an hour. It doesn't matter if I have D.O.C.P. on or not. 2 of the memory kits are on the QVL and still have the same problem. When the system freezes the yellow DRAM debug light is ON and I have to hard power off the power supply to restart my pc. The 4 RAM kits i have tried are G.Skill F4-4000C18D-32GTRS, and 3 Corsair memory kits, CMT64GX4M4Z3600C16, CMT32GX4M2Z3600C14, and CMT32GX4M4K3600C16 On average this happens 5 to 15 times a day. I have tried another brand new CPU and even took back the first Dark Hero board I bought and got another one but still the same problem. If anyone can help me get my system stable i would be forever greatful.

Hi, After being messaged around for a few weeks by amazon I refunded my order of Trident Z Neo and am yet again looking at buying this to pair with a 5900x - https://uk.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k16g36c16u4wl - and hoping it turns up as a dual rank kit. However after checking the mobo qvl (Asus b550-e) I can't seem to find it on there... Can anybody tell me if this memory will be fine or if has been used with this mobo before? Hey everybody, just a couple quick questions...I have some B-Die in my 5950X system at the moment running at 3800 16-16-16-36 1.47v instead of the stock 3200 14-14-14-34 1.35v for these sticks (I threw the Thaiphoon Burner report on my site and it can be found here if you're curious about the details) and it runs hotter than I'd prefer 24/7...even with a decent fan on them with a 50-100% curve (They idle at 30c and ramp up to the 40's when stressed) but I decided to live with it and just let them cook until my next upgrade. Now, a situation has come up and it looks like I'm gonna build a new system and since I have to get some new memory anyway (Most of the DDR4 I have sitting around is garbage like 3200 C16 stuff) I looked at the QVL list (I used this website to check it then verified directly on MSI's QVL page since this website had direct price links) for my motherboard and I was pretty disappointed by the options for a few reasons: 1: Almost all of the high-end memory kits (4000+ and under CL18) are either 2 x 8GB single rank and aren't certified for using 4 sticks. 2: The available kits that are decent are obscenely expensive right now...like seriously, why would this kit be so expensive? Because it has "Dominator" written on it? It's a CL19 kit! 3: Most of the 8GB sticks like the ones I'm using now were only verified with 2 sticks in the board. So, my requirements are as follows: Capacity: 32GB+, I use this PC for work in addition to games and this is a bare minimum for me. Speed: I'd like to have a >=4000 kit as I'll be gaming and it seems like there are gains to be had up to this point at 1:1 FCLK:UCLK. Latency: I generally see gains in the work I do the lower the latency here and the 3200 CL14 sticks I've used since I had an 8086K in it have served me well in this regard so I'd like to go as low as possible without huge increases in price. Ranks: I'd like a quad-rank setup for the gains here and preferably using 16GB+ DIMMs since I may want to expand in the future to 64GB+. RGB: Not a consideration, I got the Vengeance RGB set originally because nothing else was available. Special Considerations: Maximum Speed of my Infinity Fabric: My 5950X seems to cap at 1900 or so before spitting out WHEA errors...system still runs fine up to 2000 (haven't tried higher) and tests well but the WHEA errors scared me off as I have several RAIDs in my system that I was worried about corrupting (Not sure if the H710P SAS12 card would error-correct in this case or if it would even be an issue since I wasn't reading/writing to those drives during testing). I'm also hopeful that there will be an AGESA update at some point which will add some speed to that maximum so I want to be "4000 Ready" if you know what I mean. What I've done so far: A: I narrowed my search down to 2 sets... 1: G.Skill PC4000 CL15 1.5v - 4 x 8GB - $449.99 Model: F4-4000C15Q-32GTZR Thoughts: XMP @ 1.5v seems like it's running at the edge stock...this would probably be as high a speed and the lowest timings achievable straight from the factory. Also, 4 x 8GB so I'd be maxed out right away. Type of Chips: Samsung B-Die 2: G.Skill PC4000 CL17 1.4v - 2 x 16GB - $309.99 Model: F4-4000C17D-32GTZRB Thoughts: XMP @ 1.4v seems okay...I'd have 0.1v to play with to see if I could tighten timings. Also, I'd have 2 slots free to expand into in the future which is nice. I don't need 64GB now but I may later. Type of Chips: Samsung B-Die B: I've preemptively purchased a set so I have it when the motherboard I ordered arrives, I ordered the 2nd set for the reasons above but my questions are: 1: Is this set "better" than the one I have? Basically, am I more likely to get more performance out of this set? Is it worth $150 more for the CL15 set (And worth losing the upgradeability)? Is it more likely to hit higher speeds since it's on the QVL or will I probably be stuck with the same limit of 1900Mhz before I hit the WHEA wall? 2: Do sets like these with higher "stock" speeds and lower timings tend to run cooler than kits rated at 3200 (or similar) overclocked to that speed or is it simply amount of voltage = amount of heat (Or is it like a CPU where higher clocks draw more amps so that times voltage ends up being your approximate heat output)? Is the lower stock voltage as good of a thing as I think it is? 3: Would a higher clock kit like this, this, this, this, this, this, this, or even this be better overall despite having 2 ranks or (worst case scenario) desyncing the FCLK/UCLK? I watched a Hardware Canucks video showing 5100Mhz memory that was sometimes worth desyncing but I'd imagine too much lower than that and you'd probably be better off synced. Edit: Maybe something like this 5333 kit x 2 which isn't too expensive and just disregards the 2000 limit in favor of a 2:1 clock instead, would that be better? Edit 2: Maybe even something that would be around the same price like these 5066 CL20 kits from G.Skill like this $169 one or this $199 one respectively? So what should I do in your opinions? Stick with the one I bought? Try to find a 3800 CL14 kit? OC This one to that? I'm not sure but I think the one I got seems pretty decent to work with but feel free to tell me I'm wrong lol...thanks!

Hello there , My motherboard is Asrock Z490 Taichi with Core I9-10900K So yesterday i bought Thermaltake Toughram 3600mhz DDR4 (8x4GB) ram but unfortunately its out of stock for corona pandemic in my country. So they gave me two options either refund or take the Gigabyte Aorus 3600mhz (8x4GB) ram but its not my Motherboard QVL list. Should i go for Aorus 3600mhz ? I don't know their quality. I currently have a Gigabyte X570 aorus elite. With 2 8GB dimms. But i want to upgrade to 4 dimms but on the support list is says it only supports 2 dimms. What will happen if I install 2 new ones.

Need help from anyone who owns an AORUS Pro x570 itx board. I'm eyeing the Aorus Pro x570 ITX board as it supported both my CPU and my RAM was on the QVL, but I noticed that SYSFAN_2 header socket is inverted and is a dedicate header for the m.2 slot... I find this super stupid, as it means there's only technically 2 fan headers available. Is there a cable included to be able to use that header like a normal fan header? Or is the only option to pretty much cut off the plastic guard? I'm in need of upgrading my motherboard, due to potentially my one being bogus and I'll just upgrade it whilst I'm at it rather than fighting with my half capable retailer. (Story is here if you're interested) I was checkign out the x570 lines as they do support 2700x and in the future I'll be able to upgrade my CPU into 5000 series at least, and hopefully 6000. Also, how important is the RAM QVL list in terms of support? As per acryonm the QVL is Qualified Vender List, so it's tested by the makers that the parts work 100% I know that, but If I get a mobo that doesn't have my RAM in the QVL how much of a gamble is it in terms of support; again the link in the above sentence might give some context in terms of why I'm asking this. If the SYSFAN_2 is not available for normal header use then I might as well just get a ASUS Strix board.

Hey all, Looking to upgrade my RAM to a 4x8GB 4000MHz kit. Looking on the QVL for Ryzen processors looks as though in principle, the motherboard supports the RAM. but doesn't support a 4-DIMM installation of the memory, which kinda defeats the object of having 4x8GB sticks? Ok, so a little back ground. I started building a new PC using parts that I already had except for the Mobo and case. I went with a Mini-DTX board from ASUS for the overclocking and USB C header. I used fairly standard 2x8gb ram and am having no issues. Now I am moving on form a PC where I had 128gb of ram, so have decided to try and max out the two DIMM slots on the board. Because I am going on the extreme side of what the board can hold, I decided to reference the QVL. But looking at the list, there are so many parts that will not fit. 4-8 stick kits. I push this off and move on, as I was looking for the DCRAM that the board supports. When I start looking into pricing for the parts supported in the DCRAM section, I come to discover that over half of the "aproved" parts have never been made, and the others by GSKILL show that they only work on 3 specific boards. Reaching out to support as I am not trusting the QVL, with all the errors that I can see with a causal glance, I wanted to get some confirmation. They kinda blew me off at first only answering that; After reaching back out about the other errors, they asked me for a comprehensive list of the errors. I have annotated their PDF with the issues and have found there are just shy of 200 part numbers that do not physically fit in the board. I have included the annotated PDF as an attachment to this post. For laughs I went an looked at other MIni-ITX boards that they have and they too have parts that do not fit them in their QVL. This seems wrong to me, as it seems like they are not actually testing these parts for comparability. I'm I over thinking this or is there negligence going on here? I'm planning to upgrade my RAM to 64gb by combining two separate (2x16gb) G.Skill Trident Z kits, specifically the model below: G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Desktop Memory (F4-3600C17D-32GTZR) Current system specs are: i9-9900k 4.9Ghz OC (H115i Pro 240mm AIO Liquid Cooler) MEG Z390 Godlike (Latest BIOS) Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 4x8GB DDR4 3000mhz 2x MSI RTX 2080ti Corsair AX1500i Is it okay if I combine 2 Trident Z kits to achieve the 64GB total? I've already researched about the QVL not being updated because there are too many RAM kits in the market, but I just wanted to read about your expert opinions if these will cause any issues? I built my PC back in January and have been enjoying it since. However, recently, I have been getting MEMORY_MANAGEMENT errors while playing videogames. Like Apex Legends and Doom Eternal. I contacted Microsoft support and he took a look at me motherboards QVL and noticed my memory is not listed there. Motherboard: Aorus X570-I Pro Wifi Memory: F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC [32Gb 3600Mhz G.Skill tridentZ Neo] The motherboard QVL for my CPU (Ryzen 5 3600) doesnt have my memory listed. But the memory QVL does have my motherboard listed. So, I am running into these memory management blue screens quite often while playing games and was wondering if I really do need to buy some new ram. And if so, which comparable one would work best? i.e. a 2 stick 32GB 3600Mhz ram. Memory QVL Motherboard QVL

So I'm picking parts for a PC that I'm building for my friend and I settled for a ryzen 3600 and an rx 5700 xt, which I'm going to install in either an Asus b450-f gaming or Msi b450 Tomahawk Max motherboard. My problem is that I don't know if these motherboards support 3600mhz ram for zen 2 CPUs. I checked their Qualified Vendors List and it says that it supports the memory I want (Corsair RGB 16GB, CMW16GX4M2C3600C18), but I've read in some forums that people haven't been able to make their systems run stabily with the same motherboards @3600mhz. Can anyone confirm that these b450 motherboards indeed support 3600mhz memory as the manufacturers state? Hello guys, I am building a PC with 2080 super and 3700x on b450 tomahawk max, I was wondering which 3600mhz ram to buy, because the one I like is not on the QVL (QUALIFIED VENDORS LIST) and I am worried that there may be problems? Can you please help me??

Greetings. First time speccing out parts in nine years. Last build / current system is on the 2600K. New build will be used for home workstation (graphic design / photo editing and retouching) and gaming. Applications will be Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Xd. Thinking about going with the Ryzen 5 3600 and an affordable B450 mobo in the form of an MSI B450-A PRO. I've checked the QVL for this mobo to look for compatible RAM, since I know how Ryzen loves fast RAM. However...I wanted to get a Crucial MX500 512GB SSD, but the QVL doesn't list it. How important is it for SSDs to be on QVL? I'm considering saving money by using my old PSU, but... How do I know if a PSU is still in good shape? I'm currently running a Corsair AX850 Gold. It had a seven-year warranty, which it's living way past that time frame.

Hi all, I am very confused. I am looking at the MSI QVL for the board I am thinking of buying to find out which memory would go well with it. The board is the B450 Gaming plus Max (QVL: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450-GAMING-PLUS-MAX#support-mem-19). I'm not sure I understand what the 1|2|4 Dimm stands for, does it mean if it only is checked for 1 and 2 Dimms that it won't work (at the reported speed) with 4 Dimms? I want to start of with 16GBs and then expand to 32 if needed (Blender and gaming, possible Unity) Also I am now looking at this GSkill Aegis set since it's relatively cheap, it's present in the QVL and, if I do understand the check-marks correctly, can be used with 4 modules. Is it worth spending about 25 euros more on 3200MHz RAM? Will be using it with a Ryzen 5 3600 to replace a 1231V3 with 16GB DDR3@1600MHz. Thanks

Well, pardon my asking such a rookie question, but I've got some problem with my memory kit& motherboard. 1st, motherboard is asrock b450m pro4, whereas memory is this one: Patriot Viper Elite Series 2800Mhz 2x4GB (PVE48G280C6KRD) I know the board does not list these rams on the QVL, but I wanted to buy the whole package in the same store, and they only had these in 2x4gb with reasonable speed. Browsing through reviews, I thought these would work well with 2933Mhz frequency @1,35V, but unfortunately not. The most I can get is 2666Mhz. Some additional details: Manual of MoBo clearly indicates, that rams must be installed in slots A2-B2, whereas I got the PC with rams installed in A1-B1. I tried moving them to A2-B2, but then, the pc would not even boot, nor even to UEFI. I moved them back to A1-B1, and been running them at 2666Mhz ever since. Is it possible, that fixing the proper placement issue would make it work? ie.: A2-B2, with 2933Mhz Cl16 timing, 1.35V. Or an UEFI update might help? (btw, is there any specific restriction that UEFI must be installed by version to version, not skipping right to the latest driver?) Any input would be good, unfortunately, I'm out of ideas for now. Anyone with the same board with "incorrectly" installed RAM-s? Anyone with the same model RAMs? Thanks in advance for the responses.

OK so I'm building a ryzen 2600+ MSI b450 tomahawk. I looked up the QVL on MSI website and obviously, many 16gb 3200mhz kits which are available in the market aren't listed there. I wanted to know whether I need to refer to the qvl even for 2666/2667 MHz speeds. Because there are a few 2666 modules which aren't there in the qvl. So under/equal to what speed will a ram run at the rated speed even if its not listed in the qvl. Is it 2400 or is it 2666. Because both are non-oc speeds. Thank you and please reply.

So I have a Ryzen 2700X with a ROG STRIX X470-F Gaming motherboard, and just recently checked the manufacturers QVL list for 2nd generation Ryzen CPUS to see what RAM it supports. The RAM I'm looking at, F4-3600C18D-16GTZRX was listed on there, however the timimgs on the QVL were listed as 18-22-22-42. Meanwhile the market, lists this RAM as 16-18-18-38? Does this mean, I can only achieve the specified timings on the QVL and that the market reference is not accurate for my motherboard? If this is the case, do yall think it's still worth getting? Or is the G.Skill Flare X 3200Mhz 14-14-14-34 a better pick?

Just a quick question, is there any instances where a person who bought a ram kit that is not on the qvl does not work? Reason for asking is I am planning on building a Ryzen rig and some of the kits that are cheap at the moment in the market aren't listed in mobo's qvl's.

Evening all, formerly TheTolsonator on the forums, but haven't been able to access that account (despite numerous attempts to contact mods and get it settled, but I digress) Recently sold my 4690k, ASUS Z97-A and 16GB of DDR3-1600 for a Ryzen 5 1600X, ASUS X-370-F Gaming and 16GB of memory. The story with the memory is complicated, but long story short, bought two 2x4GB kits from the QVL list and couldn't get them to run at the rated DDR4-3000 speed at all....endless boot loops and safe mode BIOS dumps. Anyway, returned those and bought a 2x8GB kit from Corsair (again from the QVL) with the part number (CMU16GX4M2C3000C15). Ran fine the first day and the following day I hit "GO LIVE" on a stream and blammo, black screen with the fans and lights still on. Figured the video driver crashed, but system was fully unresponsive (even to pings from my other computer). Nothing came of the power button or reset switch so I had to resort to flipping the power supply switch. Fast forward a few more days and things were okay, but twice today I've had the same thing happen, once while playing a game (Enter The Gungeon, no big draw there) and the other time was while unzipping the latest DDU and downloading the latest Nvidia driver for my GTX 1060. At the moment I've got a single 8GB DIMM from my fiance's computer in my system while she's using the 2x8GB kit to see if it happens in her syste-- Thank goodness for auto-saving web pages. The system crashed again. I'm guessing mainboard. Thoughts?
