  1. Hi, I'm looking for a set of multiple RGB fans that are relatively quiet and highly rated. I don't want to blow the bank but willing to pay more. This is the sort of thing I'm looking for but I am aware they are designed more for radiators so would they work effectively and quietly still for just regular intake and exhaust use? https://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-P12-PWM-RGB-Pack/dp/B08Y8N5J89/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?crid=BF5QL5I4XUE1&keywords=arctic%2Bp14%2Bargb&qid=1700870823&sprefix=arctic%2Bp14%2Caps%2C104&sr=8-4&th=1&psc=1
  2. Budget (including currency): €950 Country: Ireland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming and watching videos ( games like 6 siege, csgo, cyberpunk, valorant Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I plan to play on 1080p at 90fps-150fps and maybe 1440p in the future. Here is my list for parts and i have 2 Y-spliters to plug all the fans so they can all be controlled because my motherboard only has 3 fan headers and 1 is used for CPU cooler( Comes with the CPU). And wifi is essential cant run a cable. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Xs34n6 I would like to know how many fans i need because right now im planning on getting 6 (5 arctic p12 pwn) and 1 included case fan. I want my PC to have good cooling and quiet if if slightly loud its fine.
  3. Hi All! I'm looking for some help looking over my plan and parts list as a sanity check (because this is driving me crazy)! Background I have a second floor office that can heat up a little from the sun. I then filled this room with 2 gaming computers, 2 "servers" (old computers), 2 mini computers, 9 monitors, networking equipment, 4 humans, and a dog. This causes the room to heat up a lot. The servers and gaming PCs aren't the quietest either. I then took the time to build sit-stand desks for the family and doled out specific spaces for each person. Only after building the desks and installing everything did I realize that my spacing calculation was off and to use secondary monitors, me and my wife needed our computers moved. We don't have enough leg room to mount under the desks. Que my dreams off purchasing and setting up a server rack for everything in a separate room (Thank you Linus for the seed planted in my head)! Reality set in and the computers have to stay in the room, I can't re-purchase all of my computers as rack mountable, I can't have any of the fun new routers, network controllers, switches, internet speeds, no UPSs (for the moment), and cost is a factor (Reality bites). It's also key to note that one gaming machine is Intel and the other is AMD and I'm looking to implement the same solution for both computers for "simplicity". I'm also trying to run the gaming monitors at 1440p @144hz at 8bit depth without HDR with RGB color space (but would like 4:4:4 to reach the monitors). Problem Statement Find a way to reduce the heat generation and noise in the room, in a space conscience and financially responsible way. Financially responsible in this context meaning not buying the cheapest junk, but instead purchasing the lowest price freely available for good products from brands that will support issues. (I know, I had to throw the hardball in!) Plan Rack: Purchase a server rack, install two shelves with each shelf holding two computers, and install a shelf to hold networking equipment. Purchase/ 3D print a vent shroud to attach to the top of the rack and funnel the hot air through rigid/flexible ducting to a window insert. Install fans and panels on the front of the rack to control air entering and not exiting the rack through the front. Video: Run active display port cables to where each gaming machine was and then use an MST hub to split the signal for extended desktop. Data: Run active USB 3 to where each gaming computer was, then adapt from USB-A to USB-C, and then attach a USB dock/hub to connect [keyboard, mouse, USB headphones, microphone, flash drives, and 3.5mm speakers]. Issues Some things I've run into already include: AMD CPU is said to not be compatible with readily available Thunderbolt 3/4 add-in cards Motherboards don't have USB-C with DisplayPort alt mode USB-C native cables are multitudes more expensive Running the cables in a wife approved manner requires about 40'ish feet cables (would like extra to in sure a good reach). 4. Hello all! I am looking for a wireless keyboard that I can bring with me to the office and not interrupt my colleagues My parameters are: quiet, mechanical, wireless (bluetooth+2.4 would be the best), type-c charging, 100% (optional) and up to 150$~. Thank you so much!
  5. Hey guys, I've been reacently realizing something about my PC. I have a GIgabyte 2070 Super that I bought a few years ago and now it's having strong fan spikes which is weird and really loud at times. So I'm using the FanControl Github app to try to monitor my GPU fan speed. However, I something I just realized is that for the 3 GPU fans I have only the ouside 2 every spins. My middle GPU fan never spins, I don't know what to do as the FanControl software only sees one GPU as a whole and when I turn it to 100% still only the outside 2 fans spin. Right now I'm just hard capping my gpu fans to 50%, is there a problem with my GPU?
  6. I've built my PC for about 4-5 years now and I do clean it every half a year(I know I'm lazy) Here's my build:https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Atumcor/saved/ZCXQD3 Recently my PC fans are starting to get pretty loud, so I think getting bigger and better fans and I might consider changing out my stock CPU cooler that's been there for a long time. I'm looking at those 2 fans: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KF7O58G/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=A1Z5H6ZGWCMTNX&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/quiet-Wings-high-Speed-BL083-Cooling/dp/B07MJQJX6T/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=be%2Bquiet%2B140%2Bmm%2Bfan&qid=1678134366&sprefix=be%2Bquiet!%2B140%2Bmm%2Caps%2C91&sr=8-3&th=1 Also I heard this one is good as well: https://www.amazon.com/quiet-Silent-high-Speed-Premium-Cooling/dp/B0B744J87R/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=be%2Bquiet%2B140%2Bmm%2Bfan&qid=1678134366&sprefix=be%2Bquiet!%2B140%2Bmm%2Caps%2C91&sr=8-4&th=1 Can someone explain to me why the last one is so much more expensive compare to the first 2? I'm consider getting 4 fans to change out all the fans I currently have, my budget is around 60–70 bucks and I'm willing to spend a little more to keep my pc quiet. Any suggestions? Other choices of fans? Thanks a lot anyway.
  7. Budget (including currency): 3000 USD (but preferably under 2500) Country: US I don't have any preferences for hardware makers (AMD, Intel, Nvidia), I just want the build to be as quiet as possible. I'd prefer to not passively cool, as I don't want to have any thermal throttling. Coil whine should also be taken into account (though I have no clue how to, haha). Another thing is that I would like this pc to be future-proof for a long period of time, as it will most likely end up being my college pc. RGB and how the build looks doesn't really matter to me, I would honestly prefer a metal side panel over an acrylic/tempered glass one. I'm no stranger to handling electronics/building pc's so I am not against any modifications as long as they aren't destructive or too jank. (Though I can't talk as my current pc has the front glass panel ripped off and replaced with a house HVAC filter I cut to size and taped to the case over the fans). In terms of hardware/performance I'd like to do something along these lines https://pcpartpicker.com/user/eat_my_dst/saved/#view=cKzZcf Any info/contributions would be great!
  8. Hello, I'm looking for a quiet case at load with not too high temperatures. I know that's a bit contradictory but I'd like to find a good balance between the two as my computer is currently annoyingly audible at idle and frustratingly loud at load. My system is built with a Ryzen 3700x with stock cooler, 32GB RAM and a 2080Ti. I use it for video editing. Can't quite remember which case I got but it's got a tempered glass front panel with 3x120mm fans that can't be controlled. I did some research and took note of the following: Fractal Torrent Compact - Case Torture, 100% RPM Stock Fans, 47dBA: Fractal Define R6 - Case Torture, 100% RPM Stock Fans, 33dBA: Fractal Torrent Compact - Case Torture, 50% RPM Stock Fans, Noise-Normalized to 36dBA: CPU: 41.1ºC over ambient GPU: 51.2ºC over ambient CPU: 56.0ºC over ambient GPU: 56.4ºC over ambient CPU: 44.3ºC over ambient GPU: 55.8ºC over ambient Source: Torrent Compact | Define R6 Both cases also happened to just go on sale at a local store, the Torrent Compact is 139.90€ (previously 169.90€) and the Define R6 is 89.90€ (previously 164.90€), until the 12th of June. These are very, very good prices. I'm also probably going to purchase a Noctua NH-D15S (can get one for 45€). The Torrent Compact doesn't benefit at all from swapping fans and unfortunately I can't find any information on the R6's acoustics/thermals with swapped fans. I'd like to see how it fairs with Noctuas AF-14 as I wonder if it could maintain the 33db but decrease thermals. The Fractal R6 also benefits from the ease of opening the front panel like a door to decrease thermals, but that also increases the noise to 39dBA which, I think, is really loud. Here are a few of my questions: What would be more worth it? - Invest in the 89.90€ Fractal Define R6 and potentially add/swap fans to the case (which will likely get more expensive than getting the Torrent Compact alone); - Purchase the 139.90€ Torrent Compact, decrease its fans' RPM and call it a day. Is 36dBA audible at all? I've heard some people say it's easily audible and others saying it's silent so I'm a bit unsure. With my current setup, my CPU sometimes reaches temperatures of 80ºC while editing, although it mostly averages the 70s, and my GPU has seen temperatures of 80ºC as well. Are these too high? At what temperatures does the CPU start losing performance? I heard Ryzens decrease their clock speed after, I think, 75ºC? I'd like to aim for temperatures below at least 75ºC but ideally in the 60s, but this could also change depending on the answer to this question. Using the data we have above, is there any way of estimating the temperatures of the CPU and GPU if I were to lower the Torrent's RPM even further 'til it hits 33dBA? Would installing 2x140mm fans on the bottom of the case help since I could lower RPM on all fans but have more airflow, decreasing noise and thermals? Finally, just to make sure I got it right, both cases have PWM controllers, right? Thank you for your help.
  9. So I kinda disconnected my case fans right now because they were too loud. They were only stock fans as well. However, now its summer and stuff will get warmer, I think its healthier for my pc to do a bit more cooling. (rough specs, Ryzen 5 3600, RTX 2060, samsung evo ssd 1tb, tho there might be an upgrade to a higher end GPU, like 3070ti or smth like 40XX) My case is a fractal design define r5, I plan to do it in a positive static pressure configuration to avoid dust (which is a slight problem rn lol), meaning one intake at the bottom and two in the front, one fan out at the back. I cant really open the top since I always put stuff on there, so the only other option with slightly less pressure would be to open up the side hole that this case has and populate it with an output fan, but that would be even more fans and also not ideal noise-wise. Also, all intakes have a dust filter. Its 4 fans I want to buy, and I dont want to spend above 100€, but below that would be even better... Meaning the max price is 25€ per fan. That should be fine even with maglev right? So my question, what maglev fans are the best ones rn in my price range? tbh I am kinda overwhelmed by the ammount one can find. They dont need rgb since I wont see them anyway, which only gives me more options. My only requirement is them being fairly quiet and long-lasting as well as PWM so they can be slower or even off in idle config. Edit: forgot to mention, they should be 140mm as well, since I am unsure if 120 will fit. Probably yes, but the ones rn are 140, so why take the risk. And is it worth it to use a fan hub? I have 4 headers, so idk... Thanks for the answers in advance!
  10. Hi there, As i was planning my first build back in 2014-15 i got tremendous help by a reviewpage+forum called silentpcreview.com. Unfortunatly the original powers that were, left, and the page got bougth up. Now its a shell of its former self. It was a very awesome community though, and the focus on low-noise builds and components was very good, so I was just curious to hear if there are other SPCR users hanging out here, and if you are hoping that the LTT lab is going to reignite a focus on quiet builds and components? I certainly am
  11. Hello, I don’t know how long I’ve had this issue but it’s becoming increasingly bothersome the more I look into it. My 3080 produces a very faint, continuous beeping noise at a constant rate. It does this constantly, but when I’m gaming I’m assuming it just gets toned out by my fans. I know it’s my 3080 because I hear it loudest when I’m right next to the side vents on the card. Ive looked up everything I possibly could and I even found a post on here that sounds similar to mine but his was just cool whine. While I do get that at times I know this isn’t that noise, and it stresses me out. Please also let me know if I’m overreacting, I tend to do that. 12. I currently have a Razer Blade 15 2018 with a 1060, 144hz screen, i7, SSD and all that jazz. It is great BUT it's fairly heavy and runs the fans doing anything more than surfing the web or watching videos. I'm looking to I guess downgrade to a thinner, lighter laptop that doesn't require active cooling, I'm talking MacBook style stuff with basically no vents (along the bottom at least) with minimal fan noise. Just hate having to worry about the vents on the bottom getting smothered if I'm watching a film in bed or something. Not too fussed on the specs as I'm going to be using it for web browsing and some RuneScape at most really. I can get £600 for the Blade 15 from a trade-in shop near me so that is about my budget but by all means recommend whatever and if it's worth it I can throw some cash on top. I'm not picky about OS either, if grabbing an Apple product makes sense then I will do but obviously Windows laptops are more plentiful at reasonable budgets. Thanks!
  13. Hello everyone. I'm looking for quiet as posible psu or semi passive at low usage. From tier A it seems that corsair is the best? Gold color: HX Platinum / RMx I get that i need safety margin for psu, and they work best at half power. If i'm right system should use about 550 watts? So that's 850 psu, 750 would be to weak? Is there big difference between them? How much money could i save with platinum psu over gold? And in general which one would be better? How big power supplie i would need? I don't plan upgrading, changing parts at least 5 years. 10 if everything still running smoothly, also don't plan OC things. My system spec: Cpu - Ryzen 5 5600X or Ryzen 7 5800X Gpu - RTX 3080 // 3080 ti // RX 6800 xt // 6900 xt - At the moment 6900 xt price are the same as 3080 in my contry, around 1600$. Crazy. Mobo - Asrock B550 PG VELOCITA Ram - G.SKILL Trident Z Neo 16GB 3600MHz CL16 HDD - Samsung 870 EVO, 2TB + older Crucial MX500 1TB - Like i said, i love quietness, mechanical hdd make clicking sound, so it's out of question here. Could save 300$, but no. Cooler - Noctua NH-D15S chromax Fans - 4-5x
  14. Budget (including currency): ≈ $1500 AUD Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: This PC will be used to play AAA games such as Shadow of the Tomb Raider, GTA 5 and The Witcher 3 and many more games. The PC will also be usedd to complete school work using Autodesk Fusion 360 and Adobe Photoshop, Animate and Premire. Other details My friend is looking for a easy and affordable upgrade path for the future. (Not buying a new PSU or Motherboard) He already has a avalable Windows 10 pro activation code so it is not required in the parts list. Hello, I have been tasked to build a friend a PC for $1500 AUD and I was wondering if this is a solid build for long term usage. He plays a variety of different games that heavly use both CPU and GPU and he would prefer a Intel core but wouldnt mind having a AMD core. He requires a Nvidia GPU that has 4GB of dedicated vram and a minimum of 16GB of 3200mhz CL18 Ram with a PSU that is at least 80+Gold efficency and a ATX motherboard and ATX mid case. The temps at idle must be around 20C-45C and under full load must not exeed 85C-90C with the cpu cooler's noise been lower than 26dB. Anything RGB and extra fan cases are optional. Any help or suggestions for the build would be much appreciated. Thanks! - PC I designed for $1537 AUD https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/Schnitz31/saved/#view=HjWdHx
  15. I'm looking at buying a laptop, probably in the $2500 CAD range. I dont game really at all, aside from Roll20 and thats not a very big resource hog, lol. I have a full blown desktop setup, but as things open up and my life has changed I'd like to get something portable to do my work from. My main work is writing shaders for the Universal Render Pipeline, basically mid.to low end graphics so i dont need anything intensive like a 30 series i dont think, but I do believe I need a dGPU. I do some modelling work with Blender and texture creation with Substance Designer, but those are less common. I dont need anything crazy for renders either, i can just handle that on the desktop. My main criteria is just that I need it to be quiet, both with fan curve and the keys. I dont want to be the guy with RGB Everything and a screaming laptop at my local library, lol. A numpad is a big plus, but i can live without it. I plan to experiment more with other types of programming and development that may be a bit more GPU intensive, but this wont be my main rig so i'm not too concerned with it being top of the line. I was looking pretty seriously at the XPS lineup after seeing the ShortCircuit(i think?) Review, but they seem to want to just put a 1650 in it and i don't know if that is worth the money the whole system costs.
  16. Hello, so I am starting to get into PC gaming and was wondering if anyone knows of a quiet, membrane keyboard that is backlight, and has good performance for gaming. Programmable keys would also be a bonus and Logitech is preferred but anything would be appreciated. Thanks!
  17. Budget (including currency): ~$300 for 9 120mm fans + ~$50 for a controller (was planning to purchase the Corsair Commander Pro). Country: Europe Hey guys. Looking to purchase 9 premium, 120mm quiet, RGB fans for my custom Lian Li PC-O11-Dynamic build. I was (and still am) originally looking at Corsair's LL and QL series of fans, but I like the look of the LL's a bit more, due to their rectangular housing, which I prefer over the QL's (I know QL fans have more LED's). MAIN QUESTION: Are there any alternatives worth looking at? The main build: CPU: 5900X Cooler: Arctic LF II 360 Motherboard: ROG X570 Strix-E Memory: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo 3600 GPU: waiting for the potential release of the RTX 3080 Ti, and for anyone asking - no I don't mind the wait, even with my components waiting quietly in storage at the moment Storage: 970 EVO Plus 2TB PSU: Corsair RM1000x
  18. Budget (including currency): $1200-$2000 max Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details I'm trying to build a PC for the first time and i have no idea where to begin. I am an engineering student (i use programs like Matlab, Solid-works, And Ansys and sometimes even at the same time). I plan on PC gaming as well (like the big name titles). Generally I'm running a lot of tabs at a given time. I need it as quiet as possible (the quieter the better) and i need a very large amount of storage (both short term and long term storage). (And some other things i would like to include are as follows: 1) a wired and wireless Ethernet connection 2) audio for speakers and headphones 3) a CD/DVD player (if it could burn CD as well that would be amazing) 4) a lot of usb ports and a way to make sure i can see that everything is running properly after i put it together (like a control center or something) I know that i am being very picky and making my first PC build a challenging one right know i have like $1200 but i have no problem to save up to like $2k if anything. If you could help point me in the right direction it would be very helpful any advise would be helpful (i have 0 past experiences making PCs).
  19. Hey guys, I am looking at an alternate cooling solution for my new server. It came with two SuperMicro SNK-P0048P preinstalled--the spec sheet for this says it is rated for up to 145 Watts. I wanted to replace these with something active (and quiet), thus making me feel more comfortable turning down the RPM of the 7 80mm fans. I of course went for Noctua and found the NH-L9x65--in the 'notes and warnings' section, it says that it should "be used with care on CPUs with more than 84W TDP." This, of course, was a little confusing to me because, one, it has a fan, and two, the Noctua looks much more beefy. This makes me wonder if SuperMicro's spec takes the airflow of the case fans into account. Any other explanations? I guess what this comes down to is: would I be safe using the Noctua NH-L9x65 with the Xeon E5-2620 v3? The only problems I see are the TDP rating and the fact that I only have a total clearance of 70mm, leaving 5mm for airflow into the fans on the Noctua cooler. Any insights or alternative suggestions for a low-noise cooler that is compatible? Thanks
  20. Hello! I have a Corsair HS35 and I messed up. I have a mic/audio splitter to well, split the audio and microphone signals and I plugged in the mic into the audio port. Now the mic output is very quiet. Did I just destroy the small elektret mic? Will I have any problems if I just replace it with a similar one?
  21. Hi, I'm using the Thermaltake Armor Revo Full Tower Case in my old PC. It has 3 x 200mm fans (front, side door and upper exhaust). These fans are the perfect solution for high air flow while still remaining quiet. I'm looking for a case for a new build, could anyone recommend a modern full tower case with similar properties? Thanks!
  22. Hello! I'm building a 900USD ITX silent PC, and I want your suggestions on how I can improve it! Budget (including currency): around 900USD Country: Czech Republic Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, Coding, 1080p Video editing, Content consumption Other details: I currently have a i3 8100 with 12GBs(4+8) of 2400mhz ram and a 1050ti, which are starting to not be enough for what i do, and the PC is very loud for the components in it, and I also want the satisfaction of building a PC for the first time. I'm trying to build a quiet itx PC (yes itx isn't great for a first build but shh we dont talk about that ;D), that can sacrifice some performance for form factor and quiet operation. I will be using a 1080p 75hz IPS panel, as monitors are expensive in my region and I dont want to spend a fortune on it. I went with noctua fans, as from what I've heard, even at low RPM they can still deliver a solid amount of air. I also chose a msi GPU, as it has afterburner, so I can underclock it a bit if it's too loud. It was also one of the cheapest options. I also went for an overkill PSU, as it should remain quiet even under load and it also futureproofs me for more demanding hardware. I know itx isn't the best for silence, but the small size fits my smaller and minimalist desk very well. PC: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/MichalTheMichal/saved/YzqQ6h - prices are very similar to my country Thanks for reading, and have a nice day.
  23. Hi i'm currently looking to replace my keyboard since it is to loud to use with others in the room. I have already researched quiet Keyboards a bit and have come to a point were I don't know how to decide. First of all here are some important things for me: -Single Key RGB (pls dont judge me) -Linear non tactile switches, since they are the quietest to my understanding -I am willing to use QMX-Clips (I have O-rings on MX Browns right now and i am okay with the feeling) -Good build quality, some form of Volume control, I want a Numpad. Taking all of this into consideration I set out to find some Contenders to choose form. It's hard to find information on the loudness of a keyboard though. Additionally there are some Questions I am facing: Some people say that MX Reds with QMX-Clips are better than Silent reds. What is your stance on that? Maybe Cherry isn't even the best pick, are there other better switches/Keyboards to look out for? I have been looking at the Fnatic Streak RGB and Corsair K70-/STRAFE RGB. I really like the volume control wheel on them but would be able to live with other media controls. Based on all of this Information what would you suggest I buy? (In terms of budget I would prefer not exceed the price of the MK70. Maybe a few bucks). Looking forward to the answers!
  24. Budget (including currency): £500-600 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Office tasks and very light gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I already have a 120gb SSD and a 1.5tb hard drive (although that is very slow). Must be able to plug in 2 monitors that are both 1080p 60 FPS. The main purpose is for working at home so it should have no GPU, that money should be spent on better CPU or quieter fans. I would like this PC to be as quiet as possible, (am willing to spend more money on this as there is no GPU). No peripherals or accessories needed. I have been looking at the Ryzen APUs as an option as I would like this PC to be able to do light gaming if possible (Forza Horizon 4). Aesthetics don't matter at all, I don't want RGB or a case side window.
  25. Hey, I'm building a PC to surprise my mom but I couldn't find any cases that match her office without looking too flashy. Also my cousin would litterally stick to it if it barely resembles a gaming PC.
