  1. Hey all. I bought Antec fusion fans which come with a fan/RGB hub included. I have 4 fans plugged into it, and they all light up/power on - but only one of them (the one plugged into the first slot) adjusts its RPM (and displays the speed accordingly) while the rest blow at 100%. These are 4 pin fans plugged into a 4 pin cha_fan header (which I've checked the manual, DOES support PWM). I've tried the two chasis headers on the board and the same issue persists. If I move the fan to different slots on the hub, it loses the ability to change its speed and report it back (BIOS shows 'N/A' on that header). I've made sure all connections are secure and seated, to no avail. CPU/AIO fan is plugged into CPU_FAN while the pump itself is on CPU_OPT (Was going to switch it to AIO_PUMP but as it seems that both are virtually the same and the guide even suggested the former, I left it as-is) The hub is plugged into CHA_FAN2 (Originally CHA_FAN1) and already set to PWM mode. There is no SYS_FAN header. I switched the source from CPU to motherboard, and that yielded no results. I'm working with an ROG Strix Z370-E (fairly old, but it was gifted to me and is now in a less powerful system than my main). Here's a diagram from the manual showing all the fan inputs.
  2. Hello everyone, i hope you're having a nice day Last time i came around was because of a trouble caused by my Fan-Hub (Which i eventually resolved thanks to you people) But now im here because of ANOTHER Problem which im really tired of trying to solve by myself (I've been trying to fix it for two days straight) Anyways: I've been using these fans for 3 Months, as i told you before i had some problems which i fixed eventually but now (Out of nowhere because they were working just fine 2 days ago) i've been having this problem where my PWM Fans (The ones i've been using) Aren't recognizing any configurations (Neither in the BIOS or other programs like Fan Controller) I've tried everything, changing the FAN Header, changing the fan order, restarting the BIOS By taking off the battery, turning on and shutting down, etcetera Like i said before, everything and it's still won't work Funny thing is that when i start up the computer the fans get kind of fast, but just a little (E.g. Before this problem happened my fans went full-RPM when i turned on and after some seconds went back to normal, same happens now but with really low RPM) I even tried changing the curve to 100% which doesn't work! Interestingly, the CPU fan works normally... Proof of the problem: This is how it looks at Gigabyte SIV I've got my theory that some way or another it's stuck in Voltage mode but im not sure on what to do-
  3. Hello. I have a Biostar H61MHV3 motherboard . It has 1 - 4 pin header for cpu fan and 1 - 3 pin header for case fan . I have 2 - 4 pin fans . Even after I disable PWM in the bios settings , case fan aways runs at full speed . I tried controlling the fan with Fan control app ( https://getfancontrol.com/ ) while PWM is off/on . The app says that case fan is not controllable . So i am wondering if I connect up both fans PWM cable together to the cpu header, what would be the concequences ? Will i have trouble with PWM after that ?
  4. Trying to understand fan controllers and such. Ordered a 2000D, misunderstanding that I could control fan speeds and not just RGB. MSI Afterburner? Get a Commander Core/H100i that includes one? I believe my MOBO has 4-pin fan headers so I should be able to control for CPU at least? HELP ME LTTFORUMS YOU’RE MY ONLY HOPE. Budget (including currency): ~1500 Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: not modern gaming, office work, video editing Other details: Upgrading from i7-2600k reusing 1050ti Mini Corsair 2000D R5 7600 ASRock B650e Corsair DDR5-6000 Samsung 980 Plus 1TB PCIe4 SF750
  5. I know PWM offer a bit more percise control than DC, but which would be more energy efficent and increase the Fan longevity? Edit: I am looking at the fan settings in the BIOS and I have both options
  6. For the last couple of months I have been having issues with my cpu fan I have changed the cooler up to 5 times and each time it runs at full speed, today I switched the cpu and chassis fans headers around and i discovered that the chassis fans began to run at 100% with absolutely no control just like my cpu fan did everytime. This means something is wrong with my cpu header but I don't know what, what could be the issue and is there a way to fix it or alternative device to control the fans? Thanks!
  7. So my awesome new Noctua NF-S12B Redux case fan arrived today. I hooked it up to a PWM header and... Nothing. No spin. So I made sure the fan control was set to PWM in BIOS. Nothing. I tried to manually run the fan up in MSI command centre. Nothing. I've tried every available header besides the CPU fan header and... You guessed it. Nothing. Any ideas? Do I just have a lemon? MSI MAG B250M Mortar (Yes it definitely is PWM capable.)
  8. Sam issue. Gigabyte Gaming X mobo, Phanteks P500A DRGB case, original fans, pwm, F5 bios on mobo. Added same type fan (1x) at the back of case. Working with SmartFan 5. The case fans all run at around 1000 RPM, the additional one at the back 20% higher all the time, same specs. Tried changing temp origin: PCIE, Sys1, Sys2, ... only CPU changes the way they work, range being: 1000-1350 RPM (the one on the back goes to 1500RPM, somehow). Custom fan curve doesn't work. I've got it set 15% RPM @25C, and 35% @40C CPU temp, and it runs at 800RPM (that's 50%), if it goes below 700RPM in bios, the rpm meter in bios goes red. No idea why. I do not have a callibrate button in bios. My CPU fan (BeQuiet DarkRock Slim) works very well on stock. (Other specs on my machine: i7-10700K stock , RTX 3080 Aorus Master OC, 32GB 3200 CL16 RAM, BeQuiet 1000W, 2x Samsung Evo 500MB SSD)

    Fan headers?

Hello guys, I'm trying to do the "opposite". I have a 12v fan with PWM and a board with a fan header of 5v+PWM. The board also has a separate 12v pin somewhere else (not a fan header and no PWM here). My idea would be to draw the power from the 12v side and the PWM+TACH from the 5v side but I'm not sure if the PWM from the 5v side would work on 12v. Can anyone confirm that? Thank you
  10. Hello! I recently built my new rig, in which I selected for case a Cougar MX410-G Mesh RGB. There are 4 preinstalled RGB fans with propitiatory 6pin-cougar plugs, which all lead to a RGB hub connected to the ARGB header of the mobo (and also another SATA cable for PSU) These are standard DC fans that...I can't control their speed but at least my system should read their rpm...amiright? Many people say even on DC fans, rpm can be controlled. Anyway, they are DC so I just moved on and bought DeepCool MF120GT 3 fan pack because I needed some better cooling (which I actually made-more info on upcoming post) and ofc the RGB (excellent design for exhaust fans) These fans are actually PWM, they lead to a 4-pin PWM hub connected to the SYSFAN1 header of the mobo. Also there is another hub for RGB, which is connected to the second ARGB header of the mobo. Thing is, my system can't read the rpm of these fans either, yet they are PWM! Here is a screenshot from Dragon Center. In BIOS the picture is the same, the only fan the system reads is from CPU! Is there anything I am missing here? Should I make any specific change to settings? Thanks in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
  11. I have been researching to build my first PC. I may decide to go with the be quiet! Pure Base 500 with the window side panel. If I do, I will need to purchase just one additional fan, as the case comes with 2 fans already. The two included fans are DC, not PWM. I have heard that they are good quality (Pure Wings 2), and that they are very quiet even at 900 RPM. I don't want to replace these fans, so I'll keep em and get one extra. So here are my questions: should I get a third DC fan to match the first two, or should I get a PWM fan? If I get a PWM, where would be the best place to install it (instead of one of the DC fans)? Link to Silent Wings 2 DC fan: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/4GsKHx/be-quiet-case-fan-bl047
  12. Hello everybody, I hope someone can spread some light on this for me, or atleast join me in feeling really confused comming into this little senario. Here goes. Building up and old PC for bedroom media center(Edit: Asus P7H55-M PRO with a Xeon X3470), found a nice case that demands some fans, but Mobo only has 2 headers, Cpu_fan and Sys_fan, both 4-pins. (has a 3-pin power header aswell, but let's forget that one) Letting the Cpu-cooler run on the Cpu header, I set out to find a fanhub to control the casefans (5 in total, all 4-pins) as I didn't wanna try my luck running all 5 fans on 1 header. I ordered a Thermaltake Commander FP 10 port PWM fanhub (nice of them to highlite no less than 2 times on the back that it's "Compatible with 3-pin fans" as well, when they further down on the box write in almost invisible small letters " *Speed control function is unavailable for 3-pin fans." GREAT compatibility!!! So, just running them 100%... -.-' ... but that's not what we're here for. I get the hub, set it up, connect all my fans, plug in SATA power, and connect the PWM signal cable to my Mobo' Sys_fan header... Everything starts up in 100% as expected untill speedfan loads, but only 1 fan(the nr.1 one that is also read to show RPM) is controlled by speedfan, the rest is at 100% blast. Speedfan showing 900RPM, and the nr.1 fan is correctly running around 900 RPM, but the rest is running wild. ?!? I Googled, and I found a post about the Sys_fan header maybe not being a PWM header, even tho it has 4 pins, but if that was true, why would it then control one fan at all. Everything worked perfectly before i got the hub when I had 3x 4-pin fans in a 3way splitter running on that header.. More Googling found a post about plugging the hub directly into the cpu header, and letting the bios handle it(really wanna have my cpu cooler running isolated, so this is not something I want to do unless I have to) Did that... speedfan won't do s*** to the cpu fancontrol, but the bios handles everything like a boss. Guess I'm running my systemfans on my cpu header, and my cpu cooler on my system header for now. Is this as it is supposed to be??
  13. (Seeking extra help, this is a repost from my forum over at TomsHardware. Here is the link to the replies i've gotten (original post). Thank you for your time and feel free to reply here or there, would love to hear others thoughts <3) Hello, first time posting here! I've ran into a little bit of a problem and I'm curious of the greater minds of the internet can help me out with this! I have a MSI Z390 MPG Gaming Plus mother board which is rather new! I have an iCue 4000X RGB case which I naturally filled out the case with 6 fans all 120mm : three in the front of the case and two at the top with one for rear exhaust. The fans I am using are ASIAHORSE WD-001 120mm 5V ARGB. The fans work and they all run with no issues, but I am not able to turn them up to max speed at all. The fans come with a fan controller that is powered through SATA power and then should be controllable through PWM in the BIOS or MSI Dragon Center. I have the PWM connector plugged into 'sys fan 1' and I have tried them all and it still in the bios its saying '0 RPM' aka not detected. On the other hand I've outfitted my girlfriends PC with the same fans, and same controller. She has 4 fans in her case opposed to my 6 so could this be a power issue with the motherboard or the controller? She has a MSI Z590 PRO WIFI and everything is configured and working. Fans are detected in BIOS and yet mine are not! (I have updated my BIOS to the latest version possible!)
  14. Hi folks I have a question about Fan Splitters. It seems to me the common way to make a Y splitter, would be a 4 Pin male to 4 Pin female and 3 Pin female, but I have a set of sleeved cables that have 4 Pin Male and 4 Pin Female x2 (I have a 3 way splitter too thats the same way). My question is, would there be any clash between PWM signals seen as they’re not missing that pin? Has anyone used cables like this? They are Cable Shack branded and cost me quite a bit, I just need to know so i don't wreck anything haha.
  15. I've built my PC some time ago but only now I realised that only my radiator fans react to changes I make in CAM. 3 exhaust fans are controlled by BIOS and I can't set them up as easily as I can in CAM. Z63 comes with two connectors for fans and one for RGB so you can use it as a mini-fan/RGB hub. RGB is not a problem since you can daisy-chain it. But can I plug those other 3 fans to Z63 with a splitter or smth? Or do I need to but a controller to control it with CAM?
  16. It it ok to use the EZDIY-FAB fans that dont connect to the pwm connector on a mobo as intake fans? Would I be fine if the I left the fans at 70% when not gaming and turn them up to 100% when gaming?
  17. I just "completed" my new build (using an R9 390 in place of a new GPU I'll get when stock is better), and I currently have 2 fans without power. Long story short, it's because the RGB controller came with a 1 to 5 PWM fan splitter cable, which covers 5 of my 7 fans, but the other 2 fans plug into the controller's RGB (it has 7 slots), and that cable forks about 1 inch to fan power cables - so 2 fans are plugged in to RGB, but not have power. That said, I need to get power to 2 more fans. Since I have 7 fans (3 front, 3 top, 1 rear), I'm wondering what the best way to wire them is. I'm debating between these configurations: Option 1 HEADER_1 - 3 front (intake) HEADER_2 - 1 rear (exhaust) HEADER_3 - 3 top (exhaust) Option 2 HEADER_1 - 3 front (intake) HEADER_2 - 1 rear + 3 top (exhaust) Since I have 3 intake, and 4 exhaust, I believe I want to be able to control the intake and exhaust speeds separately, to help balance the overall pressure (I'm new to this, just keep reading about it). I'm also (perhaps incorrectly) under the assumption that the 1 REAR fan is more potent with it's position, and might want to be separate entirely, so that one can be ramped up a tad more? Either way, I currently only have a 1 to 5 splitter on the HUB, so I'll either need to buy a 1 to 3 extension / splitter for the top 3 (leaving the front 3 in the hub), and a single extension for the rear (Option 1), or move the 1 rear and top 3 fans to the current 1 to 5 HUB, and buy a 1 to 3 extension / splitter for the front 3 (OPTION 2). These two options make the most sense to me, but there could be a better way! Any help greatly appreciated, especially, especially links to specific cables!
  18. Hello! I need some help, i'm looking to buy these fans. I'm on a bit of a budget but i do want some RGB fans. Everything looks good and i would be intrested in purchasing these fans. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07X6Q138G/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2SKLYQ83LYZE7&psc=1 The only catch is that the supplied rgb/fan controller uses pwm from the CPU fan header. My fans will ramp up if my CPU gets hot, but what about my graphics card? My GPU could be at 70C but my cpu only at 50c and my fans wouldn't ramp up to keep the GPU temps down. Right? How would i go around that? Also how would my CPU cooler fan know how hot my CPU is if i have to plug the controller into my CPU fan header? The cpu fan would just need to be plugged into a normal fan header. Could i just use a fan spliter and just connect it to one CPU fan header and then all my case fans and CPU fan would be working together? I know it seems confusing, i'm trying to explain the best i can, i will anwser any questions to help make it less confusing. As always, Thanks for all the help
  19. Hello guys, I have a following fan -> DC Brushless PFM1412DE-SP02 (couldn't find any spec sheets online) which I'd like to use / control using PWM signal. The problem is that the fan has 6 wires and I'm not really sure how to control it. 2 are red, 2 black, 1 blue and 1 yellow. I know that the blue one is for PWM signal, yellow reports the RPM, just not sure about the double red and blacks, if maybe one set of them is supposed to be used differently .. So far I've been using it with this PWN "controller" but the problem is that I cannot get my fan to run at low RPM's. I connected two reds together, as well as two black wires (to have 2, instead of 4) to this PWM motor controller and can only get it to run at what I'd say is 60% of the RPM. If I lower the duty cycle on the knob, at some point it just stops, the RPM's don't go down enough. I assume this is due to the frequency -> no fan spec sheet = guessing the frequency. I ordered this PWM signal generator the other day (it didn't arrive yet) to try and figure out PWM frequency for my fan. My concern is.. the wiring. Should it be connected like this? I'd appreciate your suggestions & tips! Thanks
  20. Hello, this is my first post! I recently purchased a thermaltake Riing plus 12. I didn't do enough reading into the product before hand, so I assumed that the fan would have one 4 pin pwm fan connection and an RGB connector. Because that isn't how this works I tried to make a work around using wires from an old arduino project to split the connection manually but my configurations fail at turning on both the LEDs and the Fan. So my question, has anyone successfully connected this kinda of fan to their Motherboard for Asus Aura, or do I need the specific TT digital controller? I run on an Asus B550-E Gaming
  21. Sorry if this has been answered, but... PWM cables are 4 pin, correct? PWM splitter cables allow more than one PWM fan to be controlled by one fan header on the MB, correct? I noticed that PWM splitter cables (i.e. This One) has 3 female plugs to accept 3 fans to use on one MB header. However 2 of the 3 female connections only have 3 pins. 1 of the female connection has 4 pins and the male connection looks to have 4 pins. Why the 2 3 pin female connections? Does it matter which of the 3 fans is plugged into the 4 pin female? Sorry for the noob builder question. Thanks.
  22. Hello, I've recently bought some PWM fans and a PWM controller, but it appears that my motherboard (MSI H110M PRO-VD) has a llimit of 5 PWM fans. If I plug 6th one, it just simply runs at full speed. Is there any way to bypass that? I am also planning to buy a new motherboard, GIGABYTE Z690 AORUS MASTER to be specific. Does this MOBO have the same issue as MSI H110M PRO-VD? If so, is there any possible way to bypass this limit as well?
  23. Hi all, I've just bought a 3-pack of Cooler Master 120 Halo fans and was wondering if I could put them in DC mode in my motherboard BIOS (ASUS) to stop them spinning while is not needed. When using PWM the minimum speed is around 600 rpm. Would it cause some damage? I know that when using PWM the header is always providing 12V of power, while DC changes it to set different speeds so that may be a problem. Thanks
  24. As the title says, I think I need some help setting up a fan curve. I've got my first set of PWM fans today, they're all plumbed in now and I've set up a curve for them all but I don't know if its alright. I remember seeing on a Reddit sub someone mentioned their fan curve and apparently it was very poorly done, I don't want to be part of the poor curve gang haha. I have a fan on the top of the case and one on the back as exhaust fans, and the front 3 pulling air in. All 5 case fans are set the same, going off the CPU temps at a step up & down of 0.3s, here are the settings: 35c - 30% 55c - 55% 70c - 75% 90c - 100% For the CPU fan, I'm using: 40c -40% 55c - 55% 70c - 75% 90 - 100% As I said I don't know if I need help, I've no idea if this is any good or not or I'm just looking for some insight or if there is anything you would change, what would that be? The PC is used for gaming primarily, the GPU fans don't spin until that gets to whatever its default is and as I'm writing this its jumping between 36/37c so to my untrained eye it seems fine, HW monitor says CPU temp. packages are 31.8/31.5/32.4 for value min & max respectively. If you see this same post on Reddit anywhere, it is indeed me I've just copied and pasted this for better reach and whatnot. Thanks for any help.
  25. Long story short… bought a server off Craigslist. Whatever, 700$, 2x Xeons, 384g of ram. Something. Quite a score right? well the thing is loud. I get it, passive heatsinks. Duh, it’s a server Let’s watercool the CPUs! Done. Now it’s confused. Pump is DC/molex - straight full power, yet at 37c all 10 fans go super fast then idle and back again There aren’t any fan curve options in the BIOS let alone a Cpu header, I just see fan0-6. Tore apart the manual too, watchdog and stuffs TLDR; got a server, fans are always super loud. So STFU, watercool it. Now it’s 100% to 20% and back to 100. Annoying. help? (Yellow duck as a life raft) ~ughh
