  1. Hello, this is my first post! I recently purchased a thermaltake Riing plus 12. I didn't do enough reading into the product before hand, so I assumed that the fan would have one 4 pin pwm fan connection and an RGB connector. Because that isn't how this works I tried to make a work around using wires from an old arduino project to split the connection manually but my configurations fail at turning on both the LEDs and the Fan. So my question, has anyone successfully connected this kinda of fan to their Motherboard for Asus Aura, or do I need the specific TT digital controller? I run on an Asus B550-E Gaming
  2. I just "completed" my new build (using an R9 390 in place of a new GPU I'll get when stock is better), and I currently have 2 fans without power. Long story short, it's because the RGB controller came with a 1 to 5 PWM fan splitter cable, which covers 5 of my 7 fans, but the other 2 fans plug into the controller's RGB (it has 7 slots), and that cable forks about 1 inch to fan power cables - so 2 fans are plugged in to RGB, but not have power. That said, I need to get power to 2 more fans. Since I have 7 fans (3 front, 3 top, 1 rear), I'm wondering what the best way to wire them is. I'm debating between these configurations: Option 1 HEADER_1 - 3 front (intake) HEADER_2 - 1 rear (exhaust) HEADER_3 - 3 top (exhaust) Option 2 HEADER_1 - 3 front (intake) HEADER_2 - 1 rear + 3 top (exhaust) Since I have 3 intake, and 4 exhaust, I believe I want to be able to control the intake and exhaust speeds separately, to help balance the overall pressure (I'm new to this, just keep reading about it). I'm also (perhaps incorrectly) under the assumption that the 1 REAR fan is more potent with it's position, and might want to be separate entirely, so that one can be ramped up a tad more? Either way, I currently only have a 1 to 5 splitter on the HUB, so I'll either need to buy a 1 to 3 extension / splitter for the top 3 (leaving the front 3 in the hub), and a single extension for the rear (Option 1), or move the 1 rear and top 3 fans to the current 1 to 5 HUB, and buy a 1 to 3 extension / splitter for the front 3 (OPTION 2). These two options make the most sense to me, but there could be a better way! Any help greatly appreciated, especially, especially links to specific cables!
  3. Hello! I need some help, i'm looking to buy these fans. I'm on a bit of a budget but i do want some RGB fans. Everything looks good and i would be intrested in purchasing these fans. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07X6Q138G/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2SKLYQ83LYZE7&psc=1 The only catch is that the supplied rgb/fan controller uses pwm from the CPU fan header. My fans will ramp up if my CPU gets hot, but what about my graphics card? My GPU could be at 70C but my cpu only at 50c and my fans wouldn't ramp up to keep the GPU temps down. Right? How would i go around that? Also how would my CPU cooler fan know how hot my CPU is if i have to plug the controller into my CPU fan header? The cpu fan would just need to be plugged into a normal fan header. Could i just use a fan spliter and just connect it to one CPU fan header and then all my case fans and CPU fan would be working together? I know it seems confusing, i'm trying to explain the best i can, i will anwser any questions to help make it less confusing. As always, Thanks for all the help
  4. Hello guys, I have a following fan -> DC Brushless PFM1412DE-SP02 (couldn't find any spec sheets online) which I'd like to use / control using PWM signal. The problem is that the fan has 6 wires and I'm not really sure how to control it. 2 are red, 2 black, 1 blue and 1 yellow. I know that the blue one is for PWM signal, yellow reports the RPM, just not sure about the double red and blacks, if maybe one set of them is supposed to be used differently .. So far I've been using it with this PWN "controller" but the problem is that I cannot get my fan to run at low RPM's. I connected two reds together, as well as two black wires (to have 2, instead of 4) to this PWM motor controller and can only get it to run at what I'd say is 60% of the RPM. If I lower the duty cycle on the knob, at some point it just stops, the RPM's don't go down enough. I assume this is due to the frequency -> no fan spec sheet = guessing the frequency. I ordered this PWM signal generator the other day (it didn't arrive yet) to try and figure out PWM frequency for my fan. My concern is.. the wiring. Should it be connected like this? I'd appreciate your suggestions & tips! Thanks
  5. Hey guys... I have an idea I've been wanting to try, and I'm wondering if it will work... I have a picture I uploaded to this post, of a fan setup my uncle's friend did for their fish house, to use as ceiling fans and, not pictured, I did a single fan setup where it sits sideways in my uncle's fish house and he seems to find a benefit of some kind for it and I'm wondering if such a thing might work for a shop that's around 7-ft by 18-ft... Also remember, that the shop isn't currently finished, as it is in a barn that is basically all studs with the exception of the outer shell in other words it looks more like a pole barn than it does a actual barn, on account of it's still unfinished... Also uploaded, is a couple of pictures of what it might look like when it is completely finished... Also notice that the fans appeared to be hovering in midair a few inches down from the ceiling, and that will not be how it will end up working on account of the obvious fact that It's completely impossible for a fan to hang down with nothing attached to hold it in place, and have it function as desired... It will however if I can get it to, work slightly better than or at least look better than the one picture taken in a fish house... One thing you will notice is that there is that weird light in the corner of the room, and that is actually a light strip in case anybody wonders... I'm hoping I can get it to where the light strips provide enough light to where I can do computer building or fixing or any of that without needing extra light although if I needed extra light I probably would have a couple of RGB strips or something above my work area... It's mainly just something to where I can avoid as much light as I can in the setup itself of the ceiling, although, I may do either a light loop or a similar design fan or perhaps a cheap fan off of Amazon like what Jay's two cents tested, although I would have to figure out how to get it hooked up properly to the fan hubs that it comes with, although I will say whether I use a cheap fan or an expensive fan it would be kind of sweet if you ask me, to use one that could somehow, change colors... Perhaps have somebody make me a raspberry pi on the cheap or something that would control the lights, And I was already thinking a PWM controller for the actual fans but then the question becomes is there is such a thing as a fan cable being too long and then the fans would then start to lose speed with the power loss over the cable length without having any boosters which I assume there is no such thing for this purpose... Sorry for the long rant on all that, but it is something that I'm hoping somebody here might understand and might have some knowledge of... But before somebody posts about just using a ceiling fan, I am a computer geek, and therefore just having a couple of plugs hanging off the ceiling, that I can plug a ceiling fan into and then screw it to a couple of pegs or something hanging off the ceiling to me seems to be a more unique way of doing it than having even say a low profile actual fan... I know it would actually be probably less expensive to just have an actual fan, but again it's a PC nerd cave, for lack of a better term, that would also serve as a PC part storage room and as such I want it to be kind of unique... Mainly what I'm looking for, in an answer, is whether somebody with some knowledge on this subject thinks this could work, and if it could work, what the best way to implement it would be... I know I can get extenders and splitters and stuff off of cablemod.com, but generally they are only in as much as 3-ft lengths or something like that last I checked, so I'm sure that would get kind of spendy if I went that route, But if I did go that route, then I could have a splitter which would have one end hanging down through a small hole in the ceiling, and possibly be glued into place or something for the fan to connect to, the only other real problem would be when I hooked up the pwm controller, The one I'm looking at is ran by SATA power, So really the only two ways to do that if I went with the PWM controller route would be to either wire up a serial ATA power cable into a 12-volt line going back to my junction/fuse box using a similar setup to what an RV does, with a 12-volt circuit, or possibly if I did a raspberry pi type controller, for the LEDs or whatever, I could have it control that as well possibly but again I have no idea if any of this would work which is where you all come in... One last thing before I send this post off is the fact that I would not need a full 17-ft of wiring length because obviously I would only be using five fans to go from one end to the other, and I would not be going all the way to the other end however if I did go with a PWM controller or some other controller way of controlling it, I would have some kind of a controller sitting on my desk whether it be a pi or something else, And so figuring approximately seven or eight foot of height in the room, minus the height of the desk unless I decide to put the raspberry pi or whatever controller, on a shelf above the desk which then instead of being an extra 4 ft might only be 2 ft depending on how close to the ceiling I put it... So figure maybe 14 ft of distance from one end of the line to the other as a guess... Also, I might not do five fans in either direction, I might only do four or I might do six I really don't know what my number's going to end up being but I just had this idea in my head of putting fans on my ceiling because it might not be cheaper necessarily than to get a cheap ceiling fan but it just to me anyway sounds cooler... So anyone with constructive criticism, or ideas on how to actually make this work are definitely welcome to add their thoughts... I would prefer if nobody told me that it isn't going to work, without backing it up with data to prove that it won't work...(note that all the fans have to do is move the air around in the room, as that is their sole purpose)
  6. Hello, So basically I want to ask is it possible to connect a Noctua NF-F12 industrial PPC 3000 PWM 4-pin fan to a 12V power supply. Do I just connect the positive and ground wire and ignore the control and sense wire? The two fans are not going into a PC I'm planning on to put them inside a closet to help get some fresh air for a Inverter. Thanks
  7. Id like to ask if there is a possible way to control 3 pin fans on my a320m pro mobo. As of now it is all connected to molex which is irritating because of the noise. Please help
  8. I wanted to add about 4/5 case fans to my pc case but i only have 2 fan slots on my motherboard. I know you can get fan splitters but i've heard if you go over a certain voltage/current/wattage you can burn the motherboard pins. I can't find any sufficient sources to help me calculate what fans will work and how to calculate the power. I want to get the BeQuiet Silent Wings 3 120mm fan and do not know if i can have multiple on one slot. There are two versions - PWM and non-PWM. I do not know what that means. I have listed some info about my pc. Case: INWIN 101 Motherboard: AsRock B360M-HDV Power Supply: 650w Links to sources: https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/B360M-HDV/index.asp#Specification https://www.amazon.co.uk/quiet-Silent-Wings-High-Speed/dp/B01JMELYJA https://www.bequiet.com/en/casefans/718 https://www.in-win.com/en/gaming-chassis/101
  9. Hi, I have a question for any EK Loop Connect fan hub owners. I'm planning a future PC upgrade and building a custom loop. The hub comes with 3 temperature probe connectors and 3 probes included. But I wanted to know if they are just for monitoring, or I could set up fan speed from the temperature readings? I think it doesnt make sense to run fans in a loop from the cpu or gpu temps, since the fans will be cooling the liquid, not the components themselves. I have this problem with the Cooler master masterliquid lite 240 aio. I had to set a fan curve to raise fan speeds only when the cpu is really hot, to avoid random spikes in fan speed.
  10. Hi so i have a set of deepcool fans Rf120s so 3 of them vibrate alot and its been screwed on tight to the frame. any ideas
  11. Morning, I've just some new fans and a PWM controller from amazon, my fans were old that's all and wanted some new ones. The fans and PWM controller: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07JD22QF5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07GJGF56L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Now do run the 4 pin in to the 3 pin of the fans and daisy chain them? If so is it easier to run straight to the MOBO with one 4 pin rather than the controller or should I run each fan to the controller individually? Gurky
  12. Good day, Sorry if this has already been answered somewhere on here but I searched and couldn't find anything. I have a variety of Noctua fans in my PC. I've just found out that plugging in 5V PWM fans into regular PWM mobo headers could damage the fans but I have had two NF-A20 PWM 5V fans plugged into PWM motherboard for some months now, controlling them with ASUS AI Suite and they seem to work fine. I understand that standard fan headers are 12V. I understand that PWM fans vary voltage to control the RPM. I understand that ASUS AI Suite (that came with my RoG X470-F mobo) 'senses' what the fans can do and operates them appropriately. In my mobo manual, all these headers are said to be 1A, 12W. Can anyone please advise me if I am causing any lasting damage to my motherboard or is it just the fans? What will happen if I don't disconnect them? Thank you
  13. Confession: I like a bit of RGB Now that is out of the way, I am looking for a new case (have a Cooler Master K380 with two BeQuiet Silent Wings 3 PWM fans installed). I really like the look of the Corsair iCUE 220T RGB with the Tempered Glass front window (not the best for airflow, but aesthetic are important to me), problem is that it comes with three SP120 RGB PRO fans which are 3 pins meaning no PWM. Since I do want my PC do be quiet even under some load (Games that is), PWM fans is a must for me. What are similar sleek looking cases (with a tempered glass front) that either have 4 pin fans from factory or come without fans so I can install whatever I want? Would it other wise be worth it to buy a (used) Corsair iCUE 220T, remove the stock fans, and install LL120 RGB or HD120 RGD from Corsair? This would make it a lot more expensive, but would also be what I am kinda looking for. Any reply is appreciated!
  14. I have the COLORFUL X370 motherboard. My case fan is pretty old and connected to a 3 pin port on the motherboard labeled sysfan Now i am trying to replace it, as i fear the fan's bearing is failing. However, markets only have PWM fans, with 4pin connectors available. Do i need to find a really old fan model which has 3 pins connector, to replace my current fan? Or is there some work around I can use? Please guide
  15. Hey, Got my PC here and the case fans are so loud, they are just the stock 3x 140mm fans in the define S2, but I just really think that they shouldn't be this loud. All 3 fans are plugged in to the included fan hub but I don't think it's working. Tried adjusting the fan curve but it doesn't pick up that there are any fan's connected to the system, changed the fans to the PWM header on the hub and if anything, its louder. Does anyone else have the same problem? or are these fans just geniunly loud?
  16. Hi guys, I'm planning to build a pc with 10 ARGB fans(Deepcool CF120) and 1 Cpu cooler(Coolermaster MA620M). Firstly, I need a hub to connect all the ARGB and PWM connectors together, but there aren't much ARGB and PWM Hub with 10 or more connectors of argb and pwm each on it. Secondly, How does a Hub actually works? Some says the sata or something, is sata coming from the power supply or the motherboard, and after i connect the sata from somewhere to the hub, i have heard that i need to connect another cable from the hub to the motherboard, how does it really works???? So i'm getting a ARGB and PWM hub, but not much manufacturers have 10 argb and pwm connectors hub, can someone suggest one to help me? How does a hub works? where does it connect from(motherboard or psu) and where does it connect to(motherboard which connector or pin or something)? FYI, i'm getting Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) and Lian Li O11D case. Wish to hear your reply soon, thanks!
  17. Hello everyone, first of all, English is not my mother tongue so i hope you understand what i say. I went to BIOS to check for any Fan settings for my CPU, i checked every section except the last one which was "PC Health Status", i went there and saw the setting "CPU Smart FAN Mode", this setting was set to "Auto" i clicked on it to see for any other options and i saw "Voltage" and "PWM". I did a quick Google search about this setting and people say that "PWM" is better than "Auto", so i did what they said, i changed the setting from "Auto" to "PWM", my question here is, what does it actually do? I mean what are the advantages of using "PWM" than "Auto"? Is it better? Because i'm a bit confused here. Also my CPU Fan is a 4-pin and my motherboard has a 4-pin for the CPU Fan so everything is good with the headers. Thank you Specs: • Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 • CPU - Intel Core I5-750 2.80ghz (OC'ed to 3.1GHz) • Graphics Card - Gigabyte GTX 1050 TI Windforce 4GB (Not OC'ed) • RAM - Corsair 12GB DDR3 1333mhz • SSD - Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB
  18. Hi, I’m currently dealing with an issue where I do not have enough 4 pin fan connectors for all my rgb fans. I have looked at getting a splitter cable, however I’m not sure if PWM splitter cables work with RGB fans? Can someone please help me or clarify this issue? Any help is deeply appreciated.
  19. is there any difference between molex fans and pwm fans, knowing that molex fan runs at full speed everytime? would there be any issues when using a molex fan despite that it is really loud?

    Fan header

Hello, I'm almost done building my PC. I just need to install the GPU that I do at the end and the fans. I already have 3 out of 6 Corsair LL120 fans mounted to the case and those are connected to the Lighting Node CORE that was pre-installed in my Corsair iCUE 465X case. Each fan has an PWM cable, but I'm not sure were these should be plugged in. My mainboard is an Asus Rog Strix x570-e and I think I failed. I added a triple pack of Corsair LL120 to the build and didn't thought much about it. So I have 6 LL fans instead of 3 and I think I don't have enough headers. Is that right?
  21. Hi guys! I have this motherboard https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/TUF-B450-PLUS-GAMING/HelpDesk_Download/ and I’m using 4 PWM fans, 3 from Corsair and one from Noctua. The mobo has 3 chassis fan headers a one AIO pump header which seems to be PWM as well. I decided to connect one of tha chassis fans in AIO pump header, it is working and allowing to adjust its speed as any other fan, but since I dis that, the boot is taking longer than usual, my guess is the mobo is trying to “talk” to the fan as an AIO PUMP but is not receiving all the info and hangs a bit during boot time. Am I risking damaging anything doing it like this? Would be better to get a splitter? Or there is any BIOS settings (which I may not be familiar with) that would prevent that delay or hang during boot? thanks
  22. I don't know if this is the right place to post, tell me if not. In order to create some airflow in a cabinet, I want to use a couple of old unused computer fans. They have 4 pin connectors, therefore PWM fans, and I want to use them connected to a phone charger via usb. The problem is: I modded a usb cable and connected the ground wire to the fan ground wire and the +5V to the corresponding fan wire. However, now the fan is ramping up and going to 0, then ramping up again instead of delivering a constant airflow. I believe it might have something to do with the other two wires that are not connected to anything. Is there anything I can do about it?
  23. Hey guys, i've been having fun with my ITX build(my wallet hasn't, though), and while i'm mostly happy with everything(wraith max crappy rgb aside), there's something that's been plaguing my brain with doubt: DC and PWM fans, specially when using a fan hub. A while ago i changed my riotoro cr280 for a fractal design define nano S(great little case, if you cant get something smaller), i had bought 3 120mm id-cooling PWM fans, which were working relatively well(really noisy), but the nano s came with 2 140mm on front and a 120mm on the back, all from fractal design, so i switched to those. still i lost the ability to configure the curves, because the fans are DC. If i connect one of my PWM fans in the first port of the hub, i get to configure it, but i'm afraid that might cause problems for the other fans (maybe spin faster that they should? dunno). Now i'm thinking if i should get 2 120mm and 2 140mm phanteks PWM fans to replace my actual ones, but still the 120mm have a diferent max RPM than the 140mm ones. So i'm not sure, i feel i should have 2 hubs, one for 140mm and one for 120mm fans(which i cant because my mobo has 1 chasis fan header other than AIO pump and CPU). Also i'm kinda worried the hub will cause more problems than benefits(it's not sata powered, only connects to the fan header), maybe i should get a fan controller? if so, which one can you guys recommend? in case i didn't explain myself well enought(which i think i didnt) TL; DR;: i dont know if: 1. it's worth using a PWM fan over a DC fan. 2. the main fan on a fan hub can cause the other fans any problems(specially if they are DC and the main one is PWM, or if all are PWM, if the size/specifications are diferent) 3. what's the ideal situation for using more fans than the mobo has headers, is a fan hub good enough? should i get a fan controller? Thanks
  24. Hello, I have recently installed three HD120 Corsair fans, they run perfectly fine apart from the sound. When I was doing research people said I was able to control the speed of the fans etc so they will speed up when my pc goes under load/ has high temps and would slow down when at idle, as currently speaking I do not know what is the average sound to a computer at idle or under load. I was hoping speedfan would help however they are unable to find my fans - One is plugged straight into the motherboard (4pin) and then the other two are plugged into a splitter (also 4 pin) it is a three way splitter so should I also plug in the other corsair fan into it ? My specs are: 3700x stock cooler, rtx 2070 Super, 16gb 3200mhz, 750w psu and 3 corsair HD120 and two Corsair stock fans that come with the Corsair Spec-06 RGB white. I am one the having a quiet pc when at idle as I find it distracting and when I bought these fans all the reviews said that they sound perfectly normal and quiet at idle, but is this with a controller?? I have also installed HWMonitor and that does pick up my fans unlike Speedfan, however, I don't know how to use the program to its full advantage. I hope you can help me as I want my fans to be controlled by the temperature of the pc, so when at idle with low tempertutes it shouldn't need to be running at 100%. I have looked in the BIOS and hardware monitor, I have turned then onto Smartfan mode however I don't really know what I am doing apart from looking a graph - My motherboard is a x570 MSI Gaming Edge WiFi. Thanks in advance, I am sorry for poor grammar etc as I am typing this after looking for a solution for a couple of hours and I just want to start playing some games etc. I also don't know a thing when it comes to fans etc so sorry if I am being stupid- I am open for learning.
  25. As the title says I want to get myself a new pair of fans.. actualy I want to get 6 to replace my old fans (they are broken and have no pwm control). Long story short: I want to get the 6 NXZT Aer RGB 2 fans. Problem: NZXT says But on the Pictures there are 6 fans and I aswell want to get 6 fans.. is this just a scam? Or do they mean 5 fans per channel (a total of 4*5 = 20 fans)? These will be 6 additional fans to my Kraken x72 (360mm) AiO liquid cooler witch comes with its own 3 fans.
