What is the Problem?: My 3090 does not light up anymore when I start my PC and my Mainboard (X570-a pro) ist stuck at the VGA debug light. What was the lead up and moment of failure?: I was gaming 'Ready or not' at high settings, and after a while the Power shut off. Afterwards I tried to start my PC again, but the Mainboard EZ debug got stuck on VGA (NOTE: The first two times I tried to start my PC the GPU was at least lit up, after that it no longer lights up) What do I suspect is the cause?: I think that my PSU had just given in to the demanding Current (I had a 700 Watt PSU, so pretty much underspeced, yes, my fault). However after changing it out for a 1000W PSU, the problem persists. However: I also noticed that the power connector of the GPU is a little loose, but not loose enough for me to believe that that is the sole cause. What did I try to resolve it?: As I mentioned I tried changing out the PSU, I tried reseating the GPU, Resetting the Bios by removing the CMOS battery (although I dont know how long it still has residual charge, so that might not have really happened), I borrowed the GPU of someone else (which worked, so that would further validate that the GPU is faulty). Next up is contacting the original owner, but my hopes are not high that there is warranty What is my question?: Could an insufficient Power supply really kill a GPU? How does under charging even result in a dead gpu? Temps were all nominal (below 80°C) when I stress tested (I only ever stressed the GPU or CPU in isolation, never both at the same time). In case I have no warranty (it was bought second hand and it has been some weeks), is there a realistic way to repair it? Please note: I am not a beginner and I have checked most of the obvious things to check. Though this doesn't mean I dont appreciate the help. Specs: Ryzen 9 5900x RTX 3090 700W BeQuiet PSU (at the time the problem occured) X570-A pro Thanks for any help or condolences

I'm currently going through a warranty request for my Fractal Design PSU that has a broken component. The Rep has asked me to intensionaly shove metal into the 24pin output on the PSU. Tech-tubers are always saying how much charge the capacitors store in a PSU even after being left powered off, so is this request safe or am I risking a big shock by doing this?

I work at a repair shop called Rob & Pete Computer Geeks. A customer came in with a cyber power pre built that after a few years of use stopped showing a display. The integrated graphics worked, but not the 3080. I checked the cooler master power supply, and the pcie connector is melted on the power supply side. Luckily, all the other parts seem undamaged.

I am crossposting this from Reddit to hopefully get some insight. I just upgraded my PC and I'm running into an odd issue. I bought a PC with an AsRock B450M-HDV R4.0 board with a Ryzen 3 2200G. I upgraded the CPU to a Ryzen 9 5900X and installed an ARC A750. I purchased a Thermalright Frost Spirit 140 to cool the CPU. I updated the BIOS to version 4.90 to make sure my CPU was compatible and I was able to enable Resizable Bar. I ran into issues last night where the PC would shut down almost immediately after getting into Windows. I had a Thermaltake 500W so I figured that was where the problem lied. I picked up an EVGA 750W PSU and the system is stable while web browsing and while discord is running. I attempted to boot up CS2 to see a comparison in frame rates and quality. As it was getting started the PC shut down again. Update: Black screened when downloading update for Phasmaphobia, then black screened when launching browser. It seems to not get as far as before. CPU and GPU temps are normal. CPU ~54 GPU ~64 Update: ran sfc scannow and it reported it had fixed errors. I checked the windows event log and there were a lot of errors, but nothing directly pointing to anything. Any suggestions?

i've built my first PC in 2020 with a 650W EVGA GQ, and it got through many power outtages up to this day. i eventually bought a power strip (one that is intended to protect electronics plugged into it) after some time. my PC still works fine, except for an SSD which eventually gave up (PC does not recognize it even if plugged externally with a USB to Sata cable). Should i worry about my current PSU killing itself and taking the other components with it? should i buy a new one? im buying an UPS either way (wish i did it sooner)

So here's what's up, A little bit over a year ago I decided to build my own PC and to make it short I did. I watched a lot of yt videos on how to build it, followed every step by step and even took an inspiration from a build I saw online and followed their steps, everything was brand new except the graphics card which was my fathers colleague's which as he states was barely used and even had a warranty (still does). Upon installing windows and all the drivers and software's needed everything looked fine until I got that first "black screen of death" Im not sure whet it first happened or how but I thought it was nothing more than just some freeze or a bug. I clean installed the drivers it somewhat went away but as time passed the issue returned. At first I noticed how sometimes while watching youtube the video's would start to stutter (sound as well) for a duration of about a 1.5 sec. and by the time I could react or see what is happening it would be over, and sometimes I could see weird graphical glitches such as white boxes for no longer than 0.5 sec on the web and other apps such as Office Word. It got really bad at some point that it was almost impossible to play game's and after that I started poking around. I went into bios (even though I already beforehand enabled xmp etc.) and completely reset it to default did all the drivers again with a clean install and I even installed a bunch of software such as HWmonitor and other to check my gpu bios. No issue was found everything worked fine (on paper), no overheating etc. until I downloaded a free benchmark test (I'm not sure but I think it was UserBenchmark). And as a normal person I started doing all the tests including cpu and gpu and found an interesting problem. The test ran from dx9 all the way to dx11 and as soon as it got to the dx11 (space jellyfish test) 9 out of 10 times at the exact same point it went to the black screen of death with max fan spin and display not found and after every time i had to restart the PC since there was no way out of it (I tried unplugging the DP and plugging it back in etc.), nothing worked except restart. So to get to the point of it someone please help me as i really don't want to spent another 1000+$ on a new gpu im not sure if its software related or is the gpu just bad. I'm gonna list the pc specs below. -Also I have a 850W gold plus Psu and nothing was overclocked and the cables going to the gpu are two separate cables (as it should be 2x8pin connector) and even though I considered the psu to be a possible issue the benchmark test persuaded me otherwise. -MBO q-code shows no errors except one time the pc didn't properly boot which was a code 40 from returning from sleep (I now have disabled the sleep option and the issue is still there). Here's the full list of my pc specs: MBO- ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING WIFI II CPU- AMD Ryzen 9 5900X RAM- 2x G.SKILL 16GB Trident Z Neo DDR4 3600MHz CL16 GPU- TUF Gaming GeForce RTX™ 3080 V2 OC Edition 10GB GDDR6X (supported by a bracket so no gpu sag) PSU- Cooler Master V850 SFX GOLD (SFX because the case is Lian li O11 dynamic mini) STORAGE- Samsung 980 Pro 1TB Cooling- 9x Lian li sl120 Uni fans (connected to a Lian li Hub) CPU Cooling - Nzxt Kraken Z53 240 mm (The Lian li fans are mounted on the cpu cooler and the hub is connected to a cpu pin connector which via PWM controls the spin rate) DISCLAIMER: The GPU does have a warranty, However It was bought in Germany (by the colleague whilst he was staying there) and was afterwards brought to Croatia where I live so there's no possible way of me going to the retail store and getting a refund otherwise I would have already done so. The files attached are my DxDiag and HwMonitor (the temp are a bit higher than usual as the pc need a spring dust clean). Anyways Please if you can somehow help me or you had a similar issue and know what to do please reach out Thank you in advance. DxDiag.txt HWMonitor.txt .dmp.rar

Hello all. I'm looking to upgrade my GPU to the 4070ti super and for that I need a new PSU. I have no clue as to what I'm looking at because I keep getting confused by the 12vhpwr. From what I read 850w PSU's will only draw 300w from the 12vhpwr and a 1200w will draw full 600w. Is that true? Or did I misunderstand something? Either way, will the Corsair RM1000e V2 1000w PSU be sufficient for the 4070ti super with it's included 12vhpwr cable?

So, my dad has a Cyberpower desktop computer that is about 4 years old i believe, and we have had issues with it for about 2 years now. It used to have a 6700 XT then it bricked, and i had to give him my old GTX 980. Now, it stopped working entirely about a week ago (Would turn on at all, no LEDS, no fan movement, nothing), it looked like it was a power supply issue, so i had him take it in to a local computer store to test it and see if it was the PSU or the MOBO, they said it was the PSU, so he ordered a new one and i installed it yesterday. Got the computer to post, run a game for a few minutes, it looked gold. Then, i wake up this morning and its bricked again. My first thoughts are that its probably the power strip/brick that its running off of, but, no other devices there are having issues, and all are fully functioning. Aside from that, im wondering it is the MOBO or something else i havent considered. Any and all input or thoughts would be very welcomed! Thanks ahead of time y'all

I'm asking on behalf of a friend. He's recently been facing a black screen issue, whenever he plays GPU-intensive games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Genshin Impact, RDR2. However, this black screen doesn't occur when he plays games like Paladins or COD4: Modern Warfare. This problem doesn't happen all the time. Whenever he starts a game and walks around the scene for 5-10 minutes, the FPS starts decreasing and the game stutters. after 10-15sec his PC goes into a black screen. However, the CPU and case fans are still spinning. And there's no way out of that black screen until he force restarts it. His GPU driver and everything is UpTodate , so it must be a hardware issue. But we're not sure which one it is. His PC specs are as follows: "Ryzen 5 3600 CPU 16GB (8+8) RAM GTX 1660 Ti GPU MSI B450M-A PRO MAX Thermaltake Litepower 550W PSU" Temps are within limit <75C, Even though I'm suspecting the PSU but we're not sure, Any idea what is causing this issue?

So I have been having this issue for the past few months. It's a new system not even a year. The problem: My system randomly shutdown either while playing games, doing some editing work or just sitting idle watching YouTube. It's not only random shutdown, sometimes it's just random reboot. Initially it happened (random reboot or shutdown) only if I did any work which required my GPU like gaming or editing but then it suddenly started working absolutely fine without fixing anything for a week or so. Then the problem surfaced again without wany warning. Things I have done to fix this issue: 1) I have already replaced the motherboard once as the whole system is still under warranty. 2) I have already replaced the CPU. 3) I bought UPS as the place I'm living in witnesses extremely amount of power cuts. I have also noticed whenever there's a random shut down or reboot the Ez Debug DRAM LED on my motherboard stays on. This happens in certain occasions only. On the other hand this LED staying on doesn't happen everytime just sometimes. Also when my system shuts down my keyboard lights are still on indicating keyboard is getting detected but my mouse is not. The whole system is running, the fans are working fine but the display goes. Even my problem is inconsistent. Sometimes it's just a shut down, sometimes it's a reboot, sometimes the display goes away but the system is running, sometimes the DRAM LED is on and sometimes it's not (indicating there's nothing wrong with the RAM). Please I really need some help. I know I might have to replace certain parts but whici one ti be exact. The PSU, RAM or the GPU. Currently I have a UPS which sits on the floor due to space restrictions. It's a CyberPower 1500VA. Bought it about five years ago and it has been great, though perhaps overkill. In my defense at the time of purchasing I had a custom gaming PC, though that had a 10th gen i5 extreme and a 1050ti so perhaps still overkill. lol My set up has greatly changed as I've switched eco-systems and now I'm currently employing as daily drivers and have for some time. I need a UPS which can support and fit in the following: M1 14" MacBook Pro Intel Core i7 16" MacBook Pro An Apple Studio Display (there is also an array of things plugged into the display which I've attached photos of) Apple Super Drive 2TB External SSD A MagSafe charger for my iPhone and Apple Watch (which I often use while working) A USB dock An old HP Printer A desk fan A pencil sharpener My Energizer AA/AAA battery charger A universal laptop charger (this gets used whenever I have a laptop which needs to be restored that does not come with its original charger, otherwise I use the original charger, so occasionally there is a third laptop) I need it to fit into a cubby on my desk with the following measurements Width: 17 3/8" Height: 3 1/2" Depth: 23 3/8" The reason for those size restrictions is I want it off the ground but not taking up any desk space or noticeable, so I wish to put it into a small side cubby on my L shaped desk. For that reason I was thinking of going with a rack unit and considering my CyberPower one has continued to work without issue, I thought I'd go with them again. I was considering the following unit: https://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-OR500LCDRM1U-System-Outlets-Rackmount/dp/B000XJLLKG/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=6EZQQY594P84&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.A0cUP8zfZTSHPK5mT_pHFHXAum1bmtz96nin2c1_ZG63742obKs_cJrO0F5gHsuWLUrKqB5w1AesCU92uSF_KtgxJL4hGKrJOex4bwmJQ8XHCRMjc8T0xZnGilLqnsqNmnU6g197AQSkIC08biHzPME9HBW1x-2YdY2aXtnpCAestYtu4QSxQjZIiMvCg8Td-SP7FJflvQvI2lTkOfwmiXzLlZwolhqk9XMhfiug8Ok.hJvYW_2uO8EW3zxUNUmQLeHl_RBTyM-wJwM1o2WU3Mg&dib_tag=se&keywords=UPS&qid=1710887546&refinements=p_n_feature_browse-bin%3A32912132011|32912137011%2Cp_n_feature_two_browse-bin%3A109332549011&rnid=109332465011&s=pc&sprefix=up%2Celectronics%2C106&sr=1-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1 My questions are the following: Will this unit be sufficient in making sure that my devices are protected against potential electrical surges? Will this unit be able to provide sufficient power for up to 60 minutes during a power outage? Are there better or more compatible options which you would recommend that I utilize instead? Note: The Studio Display image is outdated as it doesn't have the Super Drive or the MagSafe charger. The Super Drive is mounted so that when the back faces the wall the opening of the drive while hidden faces the right hand side and is easily accessible and the MagSafe charger is connected via a USB C cable and sits on my desk, allowing me to drop off my iPhone and Apple Watch for charging while working.

I've bought the new case few months ago when I upgraded my PC and decided to use old PSU. The PSU in question is Chieftec GPE-600S 600W ECO. Recently I've had an issue where I need to click power button for around 30 seconds before machine decides to start up. The case I have is H5 Flow drom NZXT. I have tried replugging front panel cabel into motherboard without any effect. I've notice once when PC was unplugged from wall that it got a bit worse and took a bit more time to start. I will put my specs bellow in case that has any effect with this. In terms of performance while system is on I don't notice any difference from when there wasn't any problems. CPU: Ryzen 5600 Mobo: B550 Tomahawk GPU: Nvidia 1050TI RAM: 2x8GB HyperX Fury Black 3200MHz PSU: Chieftec GPE-600S 600W ECO Case: NZXT H5 FLow Mouse: Steelseries Sensei Ten Keyboard: Redragon Aryaman 1st Monitor: AOC 24G2 24" 1ms 144Hz 2nd Monitor: Samsung 24" something something Also if it is a bad PSU could you recommend a PSU that could support a better GPU down the line and if this current PSU would be usable in a older system. Edit 2: I tried jumping pins on motherboard and nothing happened, I did it for 2 seconds maybe and stopped.

The other day i bought a used PowerColor Red Devil RX 6800 XT. When playing games, especially at high frame rates and in game menus i hear a coil wine coming from my GPU and it's really annoying. I tried lowering the voltage to 1060mV and capping the frame rate to 140fps (bellow my monitor native refresh rate) and the noise does get lower but i can still hear it to the point of it annoying me just enough. The only culprit for this problem can be my PSU which is Chieftec ECO 700W GPE-700S https://www.chieftec.eu/products-detail/118/ECO_SERIES/122/GPE-700S It's an European PSU that focuses on power efficiency and saving energy and it's a brand that hardly any Americans have even heard of. I was thinking of buying a new more expensive PSU like the Corsair RM850e, which is not only Fully-Modular, but also has two different PCI-E cables unlike mine which only came with one. I've heard people saying that plugging two (6+2) pins from two different PCI-E cables does help with lowering coil whine noise. Also on the PowerColor website it does say that the "Minimum Recommended PSU" for their RX 6800 XT is 850W. So it's maybe mine fault for not talking that seriously. So, what are your thoughts? I don't want to end up buying a 100$ more expensive PSU just to have the same coil whine noise again. That's why i need yours reassurance! The rest of my specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 5600 MB: MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max RAM: HyperX Predator 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200 PSU: Chieftec ECO 700W GPE-700S

I feel this might be an easy one. Are ok if PSU pcie/vga cables are touching the GPU? Right now Im switching to a 7800xt, since this is a bigger card the second cable is touching some parts of the gpu. Added pic. My current setup: - AMD 5700 X3D with MSI's kombo strike 2 enabled - MSI b450 tomahawk MAX motherboard - 2x16 Teamgroup Vulcan 3200mhz cl16 axmp enabled - 7800 XT XTX QICK319 speedster (just arrived) - PSU Gold EVGA 650w G5 supernova (I already made another topic about my PSU, I'm aware that is not the recommended). - 1 nvme m.2 970 Samsung; 1 SSD storage; 1 HDD storage. - 7 fans. Thx in advance!

Hi, hi, i'm new to this forum, i built my last PC in 2014 so i don't know about any meta PSU, but i want to build SFF system to travel with ease, atm i have Corsair ATX modular HX850, and it won't fit in any SFF case under 10L. So i want and need your help broskies with choosing a new PSU, SFX format, 750W(i guess, my system is R5 5600G+RTX4060Ti), and somewhat budget, not the highest end, i saw 1StPlayer PSUs, but it's so sketchy, i don't want to burn out my rig. Thank everyone in advance!

Hello i need help! my computer is a prebuilt msi nightblade mi3, With a I5-8400, 16 gb DDR4, 350 watt psu, and i have just changed gpu to a 3050 8gb from 1060 3gb, My games keeps crashing. I have tried Assasins creed valhalla it crashes on high settings but works well on medium. I have tried assasins creed odyssey it works well on high settings but not on very high, and i have tried warzone and its crashing when shaders are at like 50%, i have also tried overwatch 2 wont crash, also tried fortnite it also wont crash! I know the suggested PSU for 3050 are 550 watt, but my prebuilt is very small and i dont have many opitions, i am not very good at computers as well, my budget is very limited. Does it crash because of bad PSU or that my cpu is bottleneck, Cpu is at 100% when i play does Games! Thanks for help!

Please read the entire post. About a year ago I've built a system with the following parts: - Intel Core i5-11400 CPU; - MSI B560M-A PRO mobo; - 24GB Crucial 2400MHz RAM, later maxed out to 64GB DDR4 2666MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM (this is important); - 500GB Kingston Fury Renegade M.2 PCIe Gen4x4 SSD; - AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB GDDR6 Graphics Card; - Corsair CS850M 850W Semi-Modular 850W 80 Plus Gold PSU (reused from my previous setup). Since the beginning I have noticed the motherboard behaved strangely, even when brand new, during the first few days of use, it would plain refuse to POST... This would fix itself with reseating everything... If I enabled the ERP ready power feature in the UEFI, the computer would take 3 to 5 seconds to power on after I pressed the power button, sometimes it would take longer. So I never enabled that option again. But the weirdest behavior started after I swapped the 24GB RAM for the Vengeance LPX 64GB kit. At first the motherboard only recognized one stick, had to switch them around to get the 64GB accessible. Everything then was fine, even the XMP profile got enabled automatically. But I noticed the mobo would take longer than usual to POST with the new RAM. Nothing major happened until last month... when I shut the display down and went to do something else...later I came back, GPU fans were on full blast and there was no video output to the monitor. I hard restarted the PC... the motherboard for some reason reset the RAM frequency from the rated 2666MHz to just 2133MHz. I then tried enabling XMP again twice, on both attempts the mobo reset the speed back to 2133MHz and gave me a textual warning that the RAM overclock was not stable. (This was, in fact , the first sign something was seriously wrong). But by the 3rd time it worked fine. I also noticed that sometimes on Linux, after a reboot, there would be no display output. Pressing Ctrl Alt Del always fixed it. There were no new major problems or crashes until the night of March 8. After running absolutely fine for the entirety of the day, while I was watching a YT video, the browser tab with the video literally crashed. "Gah. Your tab just crashed." -- At this point, the machine was minutes away from going to PC Heaven -- I didn't know that, and just shrugged the error away as a bug. Though I was still a bit worried because this was my first time seeing that message. 5 minutes later... the entire OS froze, a very loud static noise was heard on the speakers, and the audio from the video started repeating over and over like a broken record. The PC was completely unresponsive, I force restarted it as usual... but this time, it no longer came back. No POST, no USB, no nothing. The mobo will now get stuck on a boot loop alternating for 3 times between the red CPU debug LED and the orange DRAM one. Until it gives up trying to start and stops with the solid orange DRAM LED. My effectively brand new general use and workstation PC is now dead after a little more than 1 year. Is it financially viable to try and fix it or I might as well use the opportunity to upgrade to a newer platform (AM5 or LGA 1700 with DDR5) and also a brand spanking new higher quality PSU? I might even consider jumping to a prebuilt system like the Dell XPS 8960 or the Precision 3660 as I love Dell's reliability and quality.

Hi. Im searching for a new psu and I don’t know which is the right one. my motherboard only has one 16 pin input and my GPU only has an eight pin one. Can I use the standard psu’s from ASUS or do I need something special?

Hey everyone! This is my first topic so let me introduce myself shortly. I'm a 27 YO, male who lives in Turkiye. I have an interest in tech in general. So let's ask the question now. I got an Asus Strix 4090 recently and have a 1000 Watts PSU, FSP Hydro G Pro 1000W to be specific. I couldn't find any "easy, found in Google" kind of information about 12VHPWR cable or compatible 3rd party options. Do you guys have any information about this one or any 3rd party suggestion that I can order from Turkiye? I'm using the supplied adapter from Asus with 4x8 Pin connected to it in a Corsair 4000D case. I believe the bend looks ok but I want to be in the safe side with more compact cable solution. I didn't wanna order any type of adapter after the CableMOD news and recalls. Thanks in advance.
