Hey guys So after this pandemic, I'm gonna go to a college where it is too far from our home. So I'm gonna stay in a hostel. I can't just take my gaming Setup there as it will be a hard time to do that. So should i buy a gaming laptop or just use my ps4 pro connected to my laptop through elgato capture card. I'm planning to buy a laptop for my college works but i can't take a chunky gaming laptops but i needed one. I have a ps4 pro at home & a capture card. I could take them to the hostel & use my existing or a new laptop as a monitor to play with. As you know, i can't take my monitor to play games there. But is this the good idea?. I have a Lenovo laptop with Core i5 7th gen, 8gb ram, geforce 920m etc. Which is a pretty decent laptop for me as i have a gaming PC. But i wanted to buy a laptop for gaming but i too need portability. Whereas in ps4, i can leave it on my hostel room & take a compact laptop to the class. If u have a compact laptop that can game, please recommend me. I would mainly prefer Lenovo(as my uncle work for Lenovo & he'll give me one for free for education purposes) & apple(my brother work for them. So he could buy it for an affordable price). I like rest of the companies but they don't have their service centers in our locality(Acer, Gigabyte, etc. Idk about asus, hp & dell). We do have Lenovo & apple service centers. If i buy a macbook, i could use it as a monitor for my ps4 as i don't have to carry a monitor for that. If i buy any other gaming laptops which are compact, they can be used for both productivity, education & gaming. Or should i stick stick with my existing laptop with that ps4 & elgato setup. What are your opinions on using a laptop as a display for ps4 through an elgato capture card. Thank you so much

Is there a 2.5" NAS HDD? If there is, can you run it on the PS4? I am not talking about compatibility, I am talking about if you can use a NAS Hard Drive for normal non-"Professional" use. I am choosing the NAS, because I really need a lot of storage to store my game library, I have a huge collection, so 16TB is going to be really awesome!* *(If it is possible)

Apologies that this is kinda long-winded, but I've attempted to cut out the fat while also giving as many details as possible, hoping there's some clues in there for those of you that are far more privy to networking than i am. Thank you in advance for reading this, should you choose to. I had Spectrum internet 200 Mbps Cat8 from my router into my room, connected to this network switch Bought two 3-feet Cat8 to go from switch to my PS4 and my first ever PC (built last week after watching a lot of LTT) Consistently ~230 Mbps download speeds on both PS4 and PC Wireless speed tests on all devices never reached above 50 Mbps Called Spectrum, upgraded to 400 Mbps Still worked flawlessly via hardwire on PS4, averaging about 300-350 Mbps, and the PC pushing 480 Mbps wifi still horrendous Called Spectrum, they come and replace the both the Modem and the Router BAM! First time I've ever had 430+ Mbps wifi on my phone/laptop/wifi. They almost feel like new devices. Now, I'm browsing the internet on my wired PC and I have Twitch up, watching a friend stream. He keeps buffering, skipping, and then eventually I get a black screen network error (#2000) and a decoding error (#3000). I refresh, nothing, I try other streamers and I get the same errors. I google these two errors and I follow every instruction on how to clear these; clear cache disable hardware acceleration and I tried the Twitch PC app, Firefox, and Explorer -- same deal. This only started happening after the router and modem were swapped. I thought, "Whatever, Twitch is just being weird" and booted up my PS4 to play some Apex Legends with some friends. We successfully play one match, and back out to the lobby. I appear to be the only one readied up, so I'm just I'm just waiting there talking with my friends and they go, "Hey Chris, where'd you go?" Uhh, I'm in the lobby waiting for you to ready up? "We're already in the game..." They join my party and I disappear, I join them and they connect to the match and I don't, etc. Really weird. I uninstall, and begin to download...and it gives me an ETA of 6 hours for this 40 GB file. It took me an hour to download the 100 GB Warzone application when I was on 200 Mbps download speeds a month prior... Call Spectrum I explain the buffering on Twitch via Chrome, Firefox and the app on my PC and two laptops on WiFi, the horrendous wired download speeds on PS4, and how this all started after the modem and router were replaced. They reset the connection to the modem and router, and that fixes nothing. In fact, the download speeds are now back to 200-230 Mbps. Spectrum tells me to give it time... Work the next day (this morning) Speed tests on my work computer are still 200 Mbps Call Spectrum They reset everything yet again, and we finally get the speed back up to 430+ Mbps Skype meeting for work Screen share I'm watching is pixelated, buffering a ton, and I am thrown out of the call several times. Throughout the day, dozens of times per hour, my Skype disconnects and reconnects, prompting my manager to ask "Are you having internet issues?" Fuck yeah I am I'm missing Skype messages through the desktop app and half of them are coming through via WiFi on the Skype app on my phone instead. I test out Apex again, and the same deal as the night before. I start testing hardware: New Cat6 cable from PS4 to same port in Switch: issues persist Speed test my girlfriend's PC -- Cat6 into different port on the switch: 480 Mbps Use that Cat6 and plug into my PS4: anywhere between 7 Mbps up to 70 Mbps Speed test my PC, Cat8: 480 Mbps Swap the PC Cat8 into the PS4: 2 out of 10 tests gave me 300+ Mbps, the rest sub 50 Mbps Swap the PS4 Cat8 into the PC: 480 MBps So at this point I think I've eliminated the issue being the network switch and the cables, as any combination of cables and switch ports didn't help the PS4. Wifi on this PS4 was anywhere between 6 Kbps and 30 Mbps. Wifi on different PS4 in a different room (further from router): consistently in the 200-300 Mbps range This different PS4 hardwired directly into the router: consistently in the 300 Mbps range. This different PS4 wired into switch using Cat8 in multiple ports: 7-70 Mbps This next bit makes me think this is a switch issue: PS4 with issues wired directly into the router: consistently 300-380 Mbps speeds... However, I'm not certain this is a speed issue: Even if my speed is between the 7-70 Mbps speeds while wired, I shouldn't be having the connectivity issues I am having, right? My wired work computer was still clocking speeds of 480 Mbps while also giving me connectivity issues with Skype and my work VPN Speeds of 480 Mbps still give Twitch buffering/error code issues on PC/work laptop/personal laptop I sat on hold for nearly 2 hours with Spectrum tonight, and another hour on the phone troubleshooting. They reset everything again, which again caused the speeds to reset to 200 Mbps...and then they fixed that yet again and they're back to 400+. I've ordered a new gigabit network switch, even though I'm not 100% certain that's the issue. Right now I'm pointing at the new Modem and Router as the culprits, since these issues arose immediately after they were installed, yet Spectrum says everything is connected and testing A-OK on their end. Any insight or advice appreciated, as I feel like I'm all out of options and not only is this affecting my gaming/entertainment, it's now affecting my ability to work from home... Speed test on this PC taken right before posting, just for fun:

So I’m trying to figure out if my PS4 is dying and I need to replace it or if it’s overheating (along with other problems) and I just need to do some maintenance with it? the model number is CUH-1215A the list of problems is as followed: overheating in the middle cant read disks (one game so far) wont eject disc(s) (only had trouble with one game so far I am not trouble shooting with multiple games) it wouldn’t turn off, this was extremely weird I tried to turn he system off twice, first time it was to rest mode and it wouldn’t even go into rest mode I had to manually hold the button to shut it down completely, second time I shut it down from the controller and it took upwards of 2+ minutes to shut down, which is abnormal for it. i have dusted the system (without completely disassembling) in the past, I I updmgraded the dying HDD to a 750GB HDD (what I had available) I fear this is the end for my PS4 aside from light streaming and I’m wondering what other people’s thought are on it

So, it seems that some players of Call off Duty are so tired of PC Gamers using cheats and exploits that they’ve decided they’d rather spend extra time in the lobby than play with people on PCs. I don’t usually play CoD, but my kid does, so I’m wondering, have you tried this? Does it make the game play laggy because you end up playing with people further away? https://www.eurogamer.net/amp/2020-04-18-call-of-duty-warzone-console-players-are-turning-off-crossplay-to-escape-pc-cheaters

When I try to connect or set up my wifi connection on my ps4, it says NAT TYPE FAILED ( when testing the connection) . It had never happened before and I don’t know why this suddenly happened. I tried connecting my ps4 with another wifi ( hotspot of my cellular network) and it worked just fine. So apparently it is only happening with my WIFI. Please help!

A couple of days ago, I woke up and turned on my PS4 to find out that my DS4 controller was not connecting. I tried syncing it to the console by plugging it in via USB and it didn't work - it wasn't even charging. I tried the reset button - it did not work. I tried charging through my PC - it did not work. I went through Sony's self-help service and it said to me that I would need to get a new controller as it was out of warranty - so today I did that. I opened the box, plugged it in via USB - nothing. I tried charging through PC - nothing. However, I could get it to connect to my computer via Bluetooth, and DS4Windows said the controller had 30% battery left. I have tried everything using different USB cables, and using different ports on my PlayStation and computer - nothing is working. Can anyone offer any help? I can not get Sony's attention at all and I am stressing quite a lot, as money is rather tight this month and I didn't really want to waste £50 on a controller that might not ever be used.

I was screwing around with my test bench , and a old cpu to see if it worked or not. I shorted out the power pins and heard a zip zap noise , and the bench itself was touching the ps4 slightly . Ps4 is covered in plastic , so could it have been shocked or anything? The day it happened I played for 2-3 hours after and everything was perfectly fine . So few days went by and I went to try and play a game , and the ps4 is being really weird. I turn it on and it stutters before I even choose a profile. I open apex and it stutters with the sound , I start a game and everything is fine until I jump out of the ship , and then I lose sound completely. The only thing I can hear is my teams foot steps. There’s a few times where I’ll play one full game no issues , then always have issues after the first game. My system itself seems to be hotter then normal . I turn it on and it immediately feels like it’s 20-30 degrees Celsius. I’ve done everything besides initialize the system and wipe it and start over. I tried a different game today , war zone , and it worked fine . No issues what so ever or so it seems . What could I have done ? Ouh and because of the virus I can’t get ahold of Sony and get the system replaced because it’s still under warranty, or atleast it was a month ago when this problem first started , and the virus first started. So hoping that Sony can give some leeway since they are closed for a few months lol

Is it worth it to get the psVR? Cos I’m going to be on it 1 - 3 hours a day (depends if its a weekend or not), am I going to get too motion sick? Does it support ps4 slim? Also what games should I get? Games I like: superhot, call of duty, Minecraft, etc... Also should I get job simulator?
-
So, I have a normal PS4 aka slim, that causes me headache over the last few weeks. It randomly shuts off, I've tried reinstalling it from zero, it worked... for a while, then it happens again. I tried reinstall it the second time, it just simply won't comply. I tried plugging it straight to the wall to no avail. I thought to myself it could be just a bad software, but further on I start to think that it could be a hardware issue. Can anyone help? Since I have never had a PS4 before.

So I have a Base PS4 and a base XBOX ONE I have a hi-definition 1080P smart TV and I’m wondering if upgrading the HDMI cable to a 2.0 or 2.1 will give me better speeds on either system? is it worth the upgrade or future proofing? thank you in advance

Hi, I just got the COD warzone game downloaded. Took about 100gigs and all is good. I want to copy the game files to another friends ps4 as there are data caps and slow access to his residence. Could files be transferred to a external drive and then to his ps4 or directly from one ps4 to another via ethernet. If yes then how can i do this. Im fairly new to consoles so don't know much about them.

Hey all, So I've been using my T5 for awhile now on my ps4 pro using usb a to type c cable. I then used it on my pc which used type c to type c... since then I've lost my usb a to type c cable. Whenever I try to use any other usb a to type C cable on the ps4, it refuses to use the T5 as extended storage. From what I have found, there's a specific type of usb a to type C cable I need for the ps4 to accept the T5... does anyone know what Cable would work?

If I change a PS4's hard drive to one with windows 10, wouldn't it run like a PC? I'm looking for guidance because I recently picked upa ps4 pro hoping that I could turn into a PC

Hello, I've been using my PS4 Slim with a Wireless connection for over a year without any problems, averaging a 20 Mbps download speed (measured both with the PS4 and a separate Ookla speed test). Recently, after having upgraded part of my home network infrastructure, I've decided to switch to a Wired connection in order to get better speeds, right? Wrong! It alternates between failing to connect completely or having a download speed of 2-200 kbps. My normal network configuration is as shown in Fig. 1. Please note that the 10m long Cat.5 cable runs through the walls, so it is unavailable for upgrading. This is the router and these are the network switches (without management). Fig. 1 - Normal network configuration. I have made several attempts to fix the issue, including: Configuring the PS4 Wired connection Automatically and Manually. Changing DNS servers (including Google's). Rebooting / Resetting the router. Shutting off or disconnecting every other device on the network. Bypassing one or both of the network switches (and chaining the cables together using couplers - see Figs. 2-3). Detailed speed measurements: PC 1: 70-90 Mbps. PC 2: 250-350 Mbps. PS4 (Wired): 2-200 kbps. PS4 (Wireless): 15-25 Mbps. Laptop connected @ PS4 node: 80-90 Mbps. PS4 (Wired), bypassing Switch 2 (see Fig. 2): FAIL to connect to internet. Laptop connected @ PS4 node, bypassing Switch 2 (see Fig. 2): 75-90 Mbps. PS4 (Wired), bypassing both switches (see Fig. 3): FAIL to connect to internet. Laptop connected @ PS4 node, bypassing both switches (see Fig. 3): 80-90 Mbps. Fig. 2 - Bypassing Switch 2. Fig. 3 - Direct connection - bypassing both switches. Nothing I've tried has fixed this issue so far. Is there anything I'm missing / any solution to this? Thank you for your time and help!

I heard a rumor of a guy taking apart a PS4 and an Xbox 1, and taking the better components out of the PS4 to upgrade the Xbox. Is it remotely possible? Has anyone here ever done anything similar?

Hi Guys, I Just Had A Quick Question. I Have Been A PC Gamer, Mainly Laptop, For Years. I Have Purchased A PS4 And The Internal Fan Isn't Doing Too Well. So I Purchased A Fan To Help The Exhaust Out Of The Back. So Heres The Question. Does Using Spacers Or Felt Pads To Elevate The Playstation A Couple Inches Off The Desk Help Any With Cooling? I Understand That It Does Provide A Little Less Dust Into The Fan But It Just Seems Excessively Hot Right Above The CPU. It Is An CUH-1215.

So I noticed that my controller is full of gamer crust from long hours of use and that there was dirt caked in especially around the nooks and crannies of both L2 R2 and L1 R1. Is there a way that I can take apart my controller without breaking anything? I want to remove the triggers and bumpers for cleaning.
