So I love me some emulation, getting to play games I missed out on as a kid, making em look better, and In general reliving some awesome games! But I have had problems with emulation as well, particularly when it comes to things like the PS2, some of these issues extend to other platforms, but today I will be focusing on the ps2/PCSX2 quality of life improvements and making it as easy to live with as possible. I also do apologise for the length of this, I have split sections up with spoilers. DISCLAIMER The 1st thing you are going to want to do of course is set up your emulator, I won't be going over this since this tutorial is about "quality of life improvements" with the emulator, and there is a wealth of documentation on settings PCSX2 emulator up. So let's get started with steam launching our titles. Steam Launching your PS2 Titles Widescreen support Cloud Saves Auto-loading emulator configuration on a per-game basis Extra Commands to Make the Title Feel Like a Native PC Title Anyways that covers it all, hopefully this all made sense and i don't have much in the way of grammar errors, I'm notorious for not fully paying attention and typing and slipping in words that make no sense, I do hope this helps SOMEONE out there and if you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them, that is assuming its nothing mentioned in the disclaimer at the top. I also have no idea why there are random numbers in some of the spoilers, but I can't delete them without removing the spoiler tag... I dont wanna mess up my formating so they are going to stay.

I vaguely remember this game so bare with me here. It is a PlayStation 2 game I know for sure. I remember the case cover art had lady (main character) in a dark setting. The name of the game *may have* "light" or "dark" in the title name. (it could also have monsters in the name idk) The game had an over head perspective, similar to league of legends or dota. Almost a "spectating" point of view. You start off in a town with around 10 npc in walking distance. Most of which are quest givers and vendors. The setting is extremely dark, your near/in the woods. After talking to an npc, choosing where you want to go, the game loads you into an area with monsters. Most of them are zombie type monsters. After killing a certain number of zombies, (I believe), you have to choose to go back to the main town and spend money to buy better weapons. Most to all of the weapons were expensive. Health was hard to come by and you always felt under geared. At least, that's what I remember. Decent amount of level design and monster variety as you played the game. The inventory menu was very overwhelming as well. It was like a large spread sheet with many squares for items. Any idea?

I have two video games I would really like to play again. They were really changeling when I was little. Naturally, I'm older now and would like to give them another try. Is it possible to search for a ps1 or ps2 game by case cover art? I need a large index of ps1 game to slowly scroll through. If I could see the case again, I think I would remember. Anybody got any better idea to find this needle in a hay stack? I will be opening another post later explaining in details of each game. Hopefully, somebody knows the name of them. Just checking to see if there is a better way. Thanks This is not easy to scroll through >>>http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cat_id=6

So right now I'm planning a bit of a special build I'm planning on building a powerful PC in a PS2 fat-boy case. For me it would be a perfect build being both a smaller build and a nostalgic feeling, I'm also considering some customizing of the OS when the build is done so it really feels like booting up a PS2. The plan is to only mod the bottom and the back of the case on the outside so it looks like a real PS2 at first glance. A bit of background to the plan to get some context on why and how it has evolved. The first plans where hatched when AMD released it's APUs and Valve had just revealed SteamOS (we didn't know it was going to be so bad ) and me and a friend thought that a PS2 would be the ultimate media center box to have in the living room and stream games to. Then AMD released the R9 nano, and our first thought was this should be small enough to fit in a PS2, but moving and starting to study made it impossible to afford and the plans where never executed. So right now I'm getting closer and closer to graduating and getting a job and I have to get a new PC as I'm right now sitting on a fx-8120 and a radeon 7870 1gb no SSDs in the system either so it's more or less painfully slow. So I started to look at what is exist right now I mean they can cram in a 1080 in a laptop so at least a 1070 in a PS2 should be doable and Gigabyte came to rescue they have a 1070 mitx model (https://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5923#kf) the biggest problem after fitting a graphics card is getting a PSU in there but here picoPSUs exist and two 160w should do the trick (http://www.mini-box.com/picoPSU-160-XT). Now another problem is cooling and a PS2 fat-boy only has an internal heigth of 7cm so getting aircoolers for both CPU and GFX will be really hard so I'm planning on watercooling using slim fans and slim radiators instead in theory I should be able to get the height of that to be 37mm using a 25mm thick radiator and a 12mm thick fan but I've heard that the 12mm fans out there is shit so this is really where I need help from the community here, is there anyone using slim fans for watercooling and is it good enough? What slim fans and radiators are you guys using? I'm also looking for as slim as possible motherboards with both a M.2 slot and a PCIE slot. And if anyone knows of a slim DVD or BluRay device that would be great since that would make it possible for the case to have all the features of a normal PS2 which would in my mind make the build more complete. Also I think that doing this build with soft tubing would be impossible as it would kink but if anyone have any ideas around this please share, I also think that using fittings instead of bending the harline tubing would take up less space as the bends could be sharper but if anyone have data suggesting otherwise I would be happy as it would make the build a bit cheaper. TL;DR I would need some help finding slim fans, radiators, motherboards (itx) and DVD or BluRay device. I also wan't some help deciding between hard and soft tubing and in the case of hard tubing wheter bending or fittings would take up less space. I will update the thread with some drawings explaining my ideas when I get back home to my real computer as my laptop can't really do sketch up sketches.

So, I have a PS4, but also a PS2, and I was thinking... Is it possible to use a dualshock 4 on the ps2? Is there maybe any adapter that I can use? And what can I do with those two USB ports on PS2?

playstation 2 PlayStation 2 can't connect to internet

Trying to connect my PS2 to the internet through my router. I keep getting a -611 error. I've tried broadband, LAN, auto and manual, but no luck It seems to fail during the DNAS authentication. -
Hello there, So, as the title says I have the idea of turning the old ps2 keyboard I got from my uncle into a keyboard that has the ability to also store data for me. I guess that I'll probably have to strip the PS2 cable into a shorter version of it. Then either plug that ps2 into a small processor/hub which combines (I know, the wrong word, but I don't know every single term... I am a semi-hobbyist) the signals from the keyboard with the in and output of the storage drive (I'll probably be going for an SSD due to the size of it, or a flash USB drive? I know that all of what I just said is probably just dumb-man talk. But that's why I'm here. Now I know a bit of soldering, the same uncle as before will teach me more of it this summer. I have some DIY skills and happy to learn so that won't be a problem. I live in Europe, and wouldn't even know where to get the needed parts, except the storage drive maybe. Hopefully, somebody can help me. Any help appreciated Greetings, Steak PS: A picture of the type of keyboard plus (inside behind the metal backplate and seethrough electronics)

A month ago I found a Microsoft multimedia keyboard from ~2000 or 2001 that belonged to my uncle then aunt, this is not a USB keyboard, even though it has media functions like volume up/down, pause/play, mute etc. It was filthier than in the picture when I first took it, I used a vacuum before taking the picture, that's how dirty it was, I washed the top plate in the sink to clean it .

Ok, so I'm not a newbie by any means to software, hardware, builds, and modding; but im very far from a pro. I recently had an idea that works in my head, but I cant figure out how I can do it well. I have a fat ps2 (scph 39001 no expansion) and a ps3 slim (160gb) I'm soon going to buy a ps4, but I dont know weather or not I should buy the original fat ps4 model, or the slim; depending on which will suit this build better. (I have no personal need for the pro) So here's the plan; an all in one "playstation." ps2 and ps3 run the native ps1 titles by themselves, so I dont need the ps1. The plan is to take all of the components out of the ps2, ps3, and ps4, to to fit into a custom PC case. I'm thinking 3 disk drive slots (one for each system) and maybe finding a way to run all 3 on 1 power supply, along with optimal cooling (water cooled maybe?) I know in the end it will still need 3 different display outputs... the ps2 will stay stock, maybe add the expansion or mod to a sata hdd. The ps4 will remain stock, for psn and stuff like that. The ps3 I plan to soft/hard mod, but that is all in due time. I cant figure out where to begin with this mod.. I think finding a case suitable for the job may be my first step. What do you guys think? What are your thoughts? I want this to be a unique, but visually satisfying build, with alot of versatility. Any thoughts are much appreciated!

So...yeah. the clock on my PS2 Slimline died. It stays stuck on 12:00am 1/1/2000. It won't even let me change it. I've tried a new battery but still no good. I was going to check all the contacts and traces to see if I accidently broke something whilst changing the laser, but my eyes can't make out what is what. Model: SCPH-700012

Ok. So i got this ps2 slim for the incredible price of 0$. And it looks good. There is something with the motherboard. I am not sure what. It has power. All the chips got power. But it won't turn on. I changed the power button with a good one. And that is not the problem. I have never repaired a ps2 before. So.... Can someone help ? Or tell me what to mesure ? I will upload pictures if needed.

First off, I'd like to start off with saying that I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to post this. Second, Hi! First post for me I saw the Xbox sleeper video and figured I should come and suggest a PS2 build, but with a slight twist. This is a PS2 TOOL. It's basically a PS2 development kit. Looks like a normal PS2, but..... (excuse the potato quality) There is a regular fat PS2 sitting next to a PS2 TOOL. As you can see it's basically the size of tower. And the insides greatly resemble a tower as well, albeit with some funky motherboard form factor. I think it would be super awesome if LMG decided to stuff a PS2 TOOL with modern hardware. If someone does decide to do this, I think I might know a guy that has a couple dead PS2 TOOLs laying around.

So I have been tasked with repairing a bunch of PS2s, mostly slims. My boss is under the impression that PS2s are of the devil and that all of the models of slims require different hardware. I don't believe that they do, but I would I would rather not have to check each model number EVERY TIME I repair one so I was wondering if anyone has any insight on the repair of PS2s in general, but more specifically PS2 Slims. Help is wonderful, but please, only leave a suggestion if you actually know what you're talking about. Thanks!

So, I've been planning this build since my laptop and PS2 died in 2014. Somewhere on the internet I had seen a build in an old NES and wanted to do the same. The main goal with this build was to spend as little money as possible on as few parts as possible. With my move overseas coming in seven months, this summer was really the last chance I had to get things started. Parts list: Gutted PS2 chassis AsRock j4205-ITX motherboard with embedded Pentium quad core CPU 2x4GB DDR3 memory from my old laptop 120GB SSD from parents' old computer 140W Pico-PSU 40mm case fan which may or may not be used Front panel cables pulled from old random case, hopefully to be soldered to original PS2 power switch Zalman 500W PSU for building and testing system before switching to Pico unit.

I have a ps2 keyboard I want to use, however I need an adapter for it. Is there an adapter that will fit in an expansion slot that I can find?

Hey Guys, I have a handful of old-school consoles and I got an old, small NEC CRT off a mate but I have had signal issues. It has RCA ports but only the yellow video and white audio port. I’ve tried numerous times, with my fat PS2, to get signal but absolutely nothing happens, the TV acts as if nothing was connected at all. The TV turns on fine and everything else seems to work. I’ve got another Audiosonic CRT and the PS2 works fine with that, albeit with some buzzing. I would like to get this thing working as it is something of a novelty. Any help would be appreciated. Have a nice day.

so i was looking through some old stuff in the cupboards and i found this little silver thing. All i have learnt is that it can plug into a ps2 and a ps2 controller but i can’t find it anywhere on the internet.

Short story, Me and a few friends are working together to make a PC inside a PS2 chassis (fat), we have been planning it out for a while now and just ordered an old PS2 to get accurate measurements because we can't find accurate measurements online, we are working off of one image from a forum 7 years ago and some guy's sketchup model, but so far we might have it theoretically working with an optical drive and internal FlexATX PSU, I attached some images and here is a PC parts list (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KH2cmq), there might be enough room if we lightly modify the heatsink for the GPU to have some of those controller port to USB adapters, as well as a rear 3d-printed or acrylic backplate with custom holes for the I/O and airflow cut into it. questions and ideas/flaws you might see would be appreciated, thanks!

I recently decided to start a new project using my PS2. I thought it would be cool to be able to hook the PS2 up to my PC monitor, and be able to switch between using my PC and PS2 at my desk. My monitor (An Acer SB220q) has two ports - an HDMI and a VGA. Since the HDMI port is used by my computer, my initial instinct was to find an adapter that would convert the RCA output from the PS2 to VGA. However, after a bit of research, I found that it is very difficult to convert RCA to VGA, and would require a special active adapter that costs around $100. Instead, I managed to find this adapter (see link) which plugs directly into the PS2 and converts it to HDMI and AUX out. Since I already had a displayport to VGA adapter and a VGA cable lying around, I figured I could plug my PC into the VGA port, and the PS2 into the HDMI port. However, I discovered that plugging my PC into the VGA port greatly decreased the image quality, and caused this strange wavy effect (I'm not sure what to call it). As a last resort, I decided to buy an HDMI switcher, which would allow me to use both devices on the monitor through HDMI. While this setup does work, the HDMI switcher seems to have caused an unforeseen problem. It seems as though power is able to travel through the switcher between the PC and the PS2's HDMI adapter. The PS2's adapter is an active adapter, and requires being plugged into a USB port. Strangely, when my PC is off and the adapter is receiving power (which happens when the PS2 is on since the adapter is powered by the PS2's USB port) the case fans on my PC begin to spin at a low speed. This even happens when my PC's power supply is turned off. As soon as I unplug the HDMI cable from my PC, or turn off the PS2, the fans stop spinning. While it is somewhat annoying, this isn't a huge deal to me. What's more concerning is what happens when the PC is on while the PS2 is off. If the PS2 is off, and I turn on my PC, something begins to make a high-pitched, almost inaudible squealing noise. I can't tell if it's coming from the adapter or the PS2 itself. In addition to this, the lights on the wireless controller adapter for the PS2 turn on, even though the PS2 is off. It seems as though the PC is sending power to the adapter through the HDMI port, which is then sending power into the USB port on the PS2, and causing it to malfunction. If I simply unplug the USB cable from the PS2, the issues go away. My current solution to the problem is to simply keep the adapter unplugged while the PS2 is off. This prevents the PS2 from going haywire when the PC is turned on. However, it is somewhat annoying having to plug in and unplug the USB every time I use the PS2. It seems as though the best solution is to eliminate the need for the HDMI splitter somehow, as it seems to be the cause of all the problems. There are three possible solutions I've thought up, and I would appreciate any input on the viability of these options. Perhaps its possible that the VGA input from my PC looked so bad because either the adapter was bad, or the VGA cable itself was so old. If I got a new cable and/or adapter, or even a displayport to VGA cable like this one here, is it possible that the PC display would look better using the VGA input on the monitor? Maybe the HDMI splitter I got is somehow faulty. Is power supposed to be able to travel between the devices the way it is? Maybe if I got a new or better splitter it would fix the issue. The most likely solution to work is unfortunately the one where I wait it out. I know I'm going to want to upgrade my monitor at some point and use my old monitor for a dual-monitor setup. When I get my new monitor, I can just make sure that it has either two HDMI ports, or an HDMI and displayport input. Any input on whether any of these options would work would be appreciated. If there's another solution you can think of, I'd love to hear it as well.
