Hello everyone, I’m reaching out because I’m in need of a new laptop. I’ve had a Mac Pro for the last 11 years and it recently died on me. I’ve been advised by friends to leave Apple and look elsewhere to get more for my money. The main uses will be for school and work. At school this laptop will be used for programming. For work it needs to be high powered because it will be running multiple tasks at once without frying the computer. Ideally my budget is under 1k. The other option is investing into a pc and just getting a Chromebook for when I’m out and about. Let me know what you guys think.

Hey, next year I should be going to university and I'll need a laptop for that. I intend on studying AI or Software engeneering (not fully decided yet). I know, that next year is far away, but due to the ongoing chip shortage, I'm already looking out for a good deal, and having no time preasure helps a lot. My buget is about max 15 000 CZK (666 USD, 590 EUR) but I'd more like to pay in the 13 000 CZK (580 USD, 510 EUR) neighborhood. I was thinking of getting a touch screen (I don't have one currently), but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Otherwise my only somewhat requirement is full size arrow keys (I know, that sounds stupid, it is, but I just can't get over having two arrow keys in one key slot), altho I'd probably get used to it after a few months. I know, a year (more like 9 months) is a long time, so I don't expect specific laptops. More like tips what to look out for and where it's better to compromise. I'll be thankfull for any help.

So, I have a 2.5-year-old laptop having an Intel Core i5 - 8265U 8th Gen with an 8gb ram (2400 mhz) and a 1080p display and 1TB HDD, I recently bought a new laptop for someone else with Intel Core i3 - 1125g4 ie 11th Gen with an 8gb ram (3200 mhz) but 1368x768 resolution with a nvme ssd. I am currently a student studying computer sciences and spend atleast good 10-15 hours on screen. Should I exchange my i5 laptop with theirs as on the specs front it looks more promising for my use but the only thing bothering me is that it is not a FHD panel. Its an IPS display but not a FHD one. please give me your suggestions.

Does storing programming files in NAS and running it on PC/Laptop hits the performance of the program? I am currently developing a program CNN that detects objects using python; the problem is when my friend wants to test, add, debug and train the program, copying the whole files at around 5-10gb especially some file type copies really slow around 50-500kb/s via usb or in NAS. Can we use the NAS as the storage for the files and scripts and also for training the CNN so that we can develop, test and debug the program efficiently, we can't use github since it limits the upload size. I recently built a OpenMediaVault NAS using an old PC that has around 50-150MB/s transfer speed depending on the file type AMD A4-4000 Dual Core 2gb Ram HD 6670 32gb USB (OMV OS) 1.5TB Storage

Hello, I want to rename Widgets.exe to Widgets.exe.disabled so that windows can no longer find the process. I tried it via the cmd console (rename C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\MicrosoftWindows.Client.WebExperience_421.20050.505.0_x64__cw5n1h2txyewy\Dashboard\ Widgets.exe Widgets.exe.disabled), sadly without success. Can someone help me? Maybe with a script? Don't want to uninstall it. I simply want to rename it so i can activate it again whenever I want. Thanks for every attempt

So, I'm having a difficult time figuring out how to maneuver around Brave's "element blocking" abilities. Right clicking and blocking an element is easy. Going to the manual list and manipulating the text based filter script is easy. The issue is that this seems like too clunky an approach and I'd appreciate to know if there is a better way to more visually start selecting element to return and leave again. Is there some check box method or anything that would allow me to rapidly iterate on blocking and returning elements without having to necessarily manually refresh again?

Hello everyone, I have been struggling to find out what exactly is causing this issue. I am setting up a wordpress.org website at home and it seems I'm running to a PHP problem so I'm curious if anyone has any insight at to what might be happening. I did already post a support topic over on WordPress but its not travel very much. Some things in this post are WordPress specific but I think this may be a PHP issue ultimately. I can not get past the step on connecting to the SQL database for setting it up for the first time. In the Debug log I get the following: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined method wpdb::mysqli_connect() in E:\Website\wwwroot\wp-includes\wp-db.php:632 What is my Setup: Windows Server 2012 R2 IIS 8 Webserver PHP 8.0.11 Mysqlnd 8.0.11 WordPress 5.8.1 My SQL 8.0.26 What I have confirmed: •The Mysqli extension is enabled and ran a script on the site to show what's being loaded (php print_r(get_loaded_extensions());) •The Mysqli can connect to my database by using $conn = new mysqli(information goes here); •I do have full admin rights to the database on localhost •IIS Webserver has correct Modify permissions for the website directories and a Temp Directory •Other PHP code is executing as intended such as the examples above to confirm the webserver is able to do so. •wp-config.php has the correct login information •WP_USE_EXT_MYSQL argument does not exist in wp-config.php file What have I tired so far: •Restarting everything •Trying another fresh install •Switching to PHP 7.4 (stops at the same error) •Experimented with different code replacing line 632 in wp-dp.php with example code above $conn = If I could perhaps get some help with what exactly is going wrong or if it seems like I have not tried something. Thank you =)

Hello, I have been searching for a laptop a long time now. I have this requirement list. The price Limit would be at approximately 2000€: -IR Camera (Windows Hello) -at least 500 cd/m² Display (if I'm outside) -AMD Processor (because of energy efficiency) -good Keyboard (like the Lenovo Thinkpads have) -full sized Numpad -at least 15 inch Display size -usb c charging -at least 16gb RAM (but doesn't matter if exchangeable) -at least 500gb SSD Nvme m.2. (but doesn't matter if exchangeable) -a fairly big battery -best with a internal graphics card (because of energy efficiency) -business laptop formfactor Is this even possible? I think so. My goal is a notebook with: -long battery life -work outside in the sun -easy carryable -usb c port for charging -big enough Display for programming, but not too big about 15 inches -nice keyboard with full size numpad -face login I want to use it mainly for programming. Currently I have a custom configured Lenovo e15 gen2 AMD (https://www.lenovo.com/at/de/laptops/thinkpad/edge-series/ThinkPad-E15-AMD/p/22TPE15E5A2). The closest notebook i've found is the Dell XPS 15 9510, but it does have a seperate graphics card, there is no AMD-Version, the keyboard doesn't have a Numpad. I know you guys have fairly more experience with different Laptops What's your opinion? Do you have any recommendations?

Link to the build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3qH4y4 Budget (including currency): approx ~ $1000 USD - without GPU - Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: - FFXIV - City Skylines - Death Stranding - Horizon Zero Dawn - Programming (software and hardware - not huge compile times or too low level programming) - Some computer vision - External wacom tablet usage - Very light / beginner video editing possibly - Everyday use multimedia, youtube, email etc... Other details - 2 monitors eventually, first 1 will be a 1440p 27" 144hz / 160hz monitor (Gigabyte M27Q) - Already have a GTX 970 until we hopefully find a MSRP GPU 3000 series from Nvidia (recommendations appreciated) Parts I'm not too sure about: - Which motherboard to get, manufacturer and model. I am leaning towards a b550 instead of a x570 since we won't be overclocking it. - Power supply is 650+ too much (however, 3000 series GPU eventually) - Any better cases for the price (partner would like it be cute) - Ram (thinking 32gigs because they are a tab fiend and programming and openCV type stuff) Thank you for suggestions and recommendations and looking forward to reading them!

Hey there, Yesterday unfortunately my laptop broke. I need to get one quite quickly because I am a computer science major. I do have a desktop, however it is quite practical to have a laptop. My main use will be programming on it and doing some other productivity work like emails and excel. Sometimes I will be running quite heavy programs, I have noticed with my old laptop that it really needed an upgrade. I do not need a graphics card, because I already have one in my desktop. My budget is around €1200, but feel free to suggest things with good motivation over my budget. The laptop I am currently looking into is the Lenovo Yoga Slim Pro 7. This laptop is a 14 inch laptop with a Ryzen 7 5800H, 16 GB ram and 512 gb ssd storage. Next to that it has a very nice screen, this is what is says: "14.0" 2.8K (2880x1800) OLED 400nits Glossy, 90Hz, DCI-P3 100%, HDR 500 True Black, Glass, Dolby Vision" It has one USB-A, a headphone jack, and two USB 3.2 Gen2 ports. this is the link, I tried finding it on the american website, however I couldn't find it. If you made it this far with reading through all the nonsense information. I would really like some comments on my current laptop pick and if there are better deals out there. 16 GB ram is absolute must, I would really like the same cpu, but I am not sure if I would need it. The storage doesn't really matter to me, so far I haven't used much more than 90 gb. Let me know if you know more than I do. Thanks for your time!

I've spent the good majority of my weekend researching different monitors ranging from 4k IPS panels to 1440p VA high refresh rate panels. My goal is to find one good monitor that can be used for light gaming and media consumption on my off hours (I work from home) and at the same time be great for productivity work ranging from occasional Photoshop/Illustrator work to web design (programming) and word doc creation. I will be running one of my old 24" 1080p 60hz acer monitors vertically beside it where I will have my IDE running for programming. I've visited my local Best Buy but their selection was pretty limited so I haven't been able to see many different sizes and panel options in person. Side note, my MSI 3060 Ti VENTUS 3X OC will be driving whatever monitor I get. My questions: How wide is too wide for a flat monitor (I've found a few good deals on 32-34" IPS monitors but they are flat, not curved)? I know IPS is supposed to have better color accuracy, but if the VA panel is HDR10 or HDR400 and at least 1440p, is a VA panel just as good of an option? What are you running for a main monitor that is a good "all around" monitor (or what's your personal preference)? One panel I have been eyeballing has been the GIGABYTE M34WQ 34" IPS LED 144Hz WQHD KVM Gaming Monitor for around $500. As for the VA panel that I have been looking at, the Dell 34 Curved Gaming Monitor – S3422DWG has been tempting me. It is identical in price with the Gigabyte monitor, but it is at least HDR 400. I know monitors are one of those personal preference things, but I'm struggling making my mind up. I don't want to drop $500 on something that I don't have experience or proper knowledge about. That's why I'm coming here for some help. If you have any advice or if you'd like to point me in a specific direction, it would be more than appreciated. Thanks in advance! Hi, I am looking for a new laptop, that would be replacing my current Dell latitude E6540. I have it configured with i7-4800mq and 16 GB of RAM. I also have a 2,5 inch SSD as the main drive. I am looking to give this laptop to a family member, who at the moment, doesn´t have access to a proper computer, since She has been relying on my desktop, and her phone. I am going to be using the new laptop for office 365, libreoffice etc. Other abitti-compatible programs. (IK, office 365 in´t compatible, I just use that for most of my school work.) And off course, abitti exams. For reference, these workloads were fine until the start of this year on this machine. At that time I was running it with only half of the cores (2c/4t). However, it felt a bit sluggish, so I put all the cores to use. TLDR, i7-4800mq is totally fine for all of these workloads. Also, the JDE and PDE I use (eclipse for java, PyCharm for Python) run just fine on the current machine. I would like to understand however, how well these workloads I just mentioned, would scale, comparing the i7-4800mq to a more modern i5-10210U. From what I could see yesterday, when doing my research, the i5 would be only 10-30% improvement in benchmark scores. Would you consider those benchmarks accurate? Thank you for your imput!

Budget (including currency): 50k to 60k INR Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Will be using for both. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have 2K Monitory and Keyboard and Mouse.

I currently have two monitors(different brands-Dell and LG). I was thinking of getting two Dell P2419H. I usually sit for a prolonged period of time on front on monitors. So I need something that won't hurt my eyes. Price of monitors are exceptionally high in Bangladesh so considering all the factors I chose the Dell P2419H. My budget is about 200 USD for each monitor(20k BDT). For people with big heart and a few spare time in hand you can check out the prices of monitors here.

Budget (including currency): 3000 € Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly Programming(Full Stack Dev), Rendering Videos on daVinci, a nice have would be also gaming, but that is not my prio Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): This is the Link for my Beefy PC: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/k3YwdD I am working as a Full Stack Dev and as a side hustle I want to do Videos. So a faster PC would help alot. I am not doing any 3D rendering, just editing Videos and rendering it. A faster Booting time would be great and if Overclocking punches the number high, then i will go with it :). The Geforce 1080 is going to be ripped off from my old pc and attached to the new one. I need a Monitor that is absolutely astonishing in color, etc. So I think a good monitor is the LG 27GL850-B Mic & Audio Mic.: Blue Yeti beyerdynamics hooked in a Scarlett 2i2 A really good Camera on Budget which can record or used as Webcam via linking stuff and obs etc.. would be awesome If you click on the link than you will see that i have some compatibility issues. I was following the video where they compared amd vs intel beefed up pc's and they changed the Motherboard. Now i am have a compatibility issue :D. Well any suggestions on same or better parts is appreciated Thanks a lot. ps. Later i will upgrade my GPU to a more powerful one like the RTX 3080 or something. So nice would be if i had the parts that can handle a 3080 or even a more powerful one.

So, I’m going to be studying Game Design pretty soon and I don’t actually know that much about what makes a good computer good. The school I’ll be studying at didn’t qualify any specs beyond it having to be less than 3 years old, so I’m somewhat left to fumble in the dark as I try to figure out what laptop to go for. For it to properly run Unity Game Engine, the engine we’ll be taught to work with, I’ve been told I’d need at least 16GB ram (and that I should look into one with at least 1 expansion slot). Along with good cpu and gpu. I don’t really want a gaming pc as they’re clunky, heavy, loud, and I’ve been told they tend to be expensive for the brand. I prefer laptops I’m able to carry somewhat comfortably, and for the screen to not be Thee Biggest, too. Something in the price range of 5000-10 000 nok (around 1130 usd or 963 eur). Since I live in Norway; if anyone has any Norway specific recommendations that’d be great:D

As the title says, I'm planning on starting a website to compete with Youtube (as well as spotify, blogger and deviantart. All of those in one website.) I'd like to have a few features available at launch, and I'd like to know if there is pre-existing open-source code for those features. 1. Censor patches On Youtubeb you are instantly demonetized for vulgar content. I'd rather that not be the case, but I also don't want the first thing browsers see is a lot of swearing, and since making a separate censored video for the web-page would waste a lot of space, I'd like to know if there are small size files that can be applied to content as the page loads. For text this at least sounds easy. A simple word library of naughty words, and few strings of code to auto-replace those words with illegible characters. Steam has already done this in their community forums, replacing swearing and slurs with heart emojis. (Not what I would've gone with. I think I'd make the default either a blackout text, of wingdings.) For images, I believe there are already ways of layering multiple image files on top of one another. This could also be used to add things to the base image and have multiple different versions of an image simply by using layers. Not sure how it would affect file sizes though. Video and audio would seem to be a bit trickier. Naturally as a platform that offers both, playing the audio version would just opt out of loading the video portions of the file. This would mean that there would only be the original audio and the censor patch loaded, which might have to be custom made for each video, as ai voice recognition just isn't that good yet. I would also allow uploaders to use either the default bleep, or custom censor sounds, which you can then monetize. Video would ultimately have to compile five or more separate files to play one video: the video, the audio, the video censor, the audio censor, and the subtitles. Again, these patches would have to be pre-made for each video, and could use default graphics like blurring or black rectangles, or custom monetizable censors. How the site actually decides to load these patches should be rather easy. If the user has an account, is logged in, and has censor options set to off, then no censor patch would be applied. To anyone not meeting that criteria, the patch is loaded in with the page. Naturally I'd want to try and have all of this running onsite, however if that's not an option then I'll recommend optimal software for whatever hardware you're using. 2. Monetization Naturally. Just like Youtube I'd like you to be able to monetize your content, either through advertising or through direct payment. I probably won't be using adsense. Instead, I'd like each user and advertiser to choose each other directly. You can message an advertiser and request ro advertise their product, or the advertiser will message you with an offer. This all happens either individually or blanketing across an entire video category. However, you will be prompted to confirm the deal in order for advertisements to show up on your content. And you can diractly monetize through subscriptions, rental periods, or one-time purchases. And these can be applied to content individually or your entire content library. I'll also make it so that you can create group purchases, tying multiple channels' content under a single subscription or purchase. You'll just have to work it out between yourselves in terms of how much of a cut each channel gets. And of courseb you can monetize custom censor sounds and images for your content, as stated in 1. 3. Private servers I'm not some giant multi-billion dollar conapny, so I'll probably use peer-to-peer streaming to distribute content. However I'd like to give users the opportunity to host their own content, either with physical servers or a subscription to publically available server companies. And I'd lime to tie that in directly with the site as to just how you decide to distribute your content. And if you are paying a subscription for servers, you can set ypur channel to automatically subtract that cost from your monthly earnings. 4. Parent curating app This will probably have to implement later on down the road. We'd probably do most things on an honor system, and getting reported for foul or vulgar content that you didn't report when you originally posted will put the content under review, hiding it from the lower rated areas of the site and probably fining you as punishment for a violation. Ultimately, I'd like to have dedicated applications for all devices for viewersb content creators, and curators who will check each content for a content rating system. As an extension of this, I'd like to have dedicated apps for parents and children so that parents can remotely curate what content their children can see on the site. Simply login both the parents account and child's account on both devices, set which is which, lockout settings using a password, and parents will be able to view content and decide whether or not they want their child seeing that content. I'll also enable parents to share curated content lists. So already rhat makes my proposal very different from youtube. Do you know if this all sounds to be possible (code-wise)

I am looking forward on earning income from programming, I have a very very basic knowledge in Popular languages, But haven't excelled in anyone. I wish to master either Python or JavaScript... The thing I worries about JS -- A lot of Frameworks and Libraries to keep Up with The things I worry about Python -- A lot of people mastered it, worried that that may reduce the demand -- I am not actually sure what will I do as Freelancing Project if I master Python.

Hey there, I'm currently searching for a new laptop. My use case is mainly software development and a bit of gaming (I do have a gaming pc, so nothing excessive.) My other requirements are: Good trackpad/keyboard, lightweight, long battery life, preferably a 120/144hz display, not because of gaming but out of me being used to it so much that I think I won't survive without it. My Budget is <2300€. Any help would be appreciated! Greetings

How do I make these old web-cameras to run on windows. I just need a footage from these cameras so I can create something like a 360 multi camera thing (photo attached). I will be using python to program the cameras on a rasberry-pi. Windows does detect the hardware (named it as USB Camera), but it is unable to find any drivers for it. All the cameras are from the same company: yotech. I'm unable to find compatible drivers for these cameras on the internet. What can I do? Can some python script help me get the footage? P.S. I figured out that those rigs are called time freeze camera rigs.
