Hi all, I'm currently looking for a new laptop since my old Dell inspiron 15R SE 7520 finally kicked the bucket. I got myself an ASUS TUF A17 at first since it seemed like a great laptop on paper for the price (got it on sale for €1100). I was very impressed by the performance and battery life coming from my old duel core laptop. Sadly however the screen was really disappointing and made the entire laptop unusable for me. Most of my work consists of compiling code, blender, unity, unreal and some photo/video editing. I don't plan on gaming so I won't need a high refresh rate screen. 17 inch is preferred. A fast CPU is a must however since a faster CPU means less waiting on code to compile and getting more work done. My budget is around €2400 Thanks

I'm looking for a way to stream my console ( the actual variant does not matter right now, but I have a ps4 ), to my sister who's currently stuck abroad because lockdown. I find the native remote play app to be limited and it has dumb embargoes on some games. I've seen this guide, which is essentially the setup I am looking for, except I want to see if I can eliminate the titan one adapter, and instead use a usb a to usb a cable to the console. Does anyone know of a program that can be used to spoof the ps4, or any console, into thinking that they are getting native wired controller input? Thanks! Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place. This is my first post.

Hey, so I currently have a K70 for my PC, while it’s a great keyboard and I don’t plan on giving it up. I have found the keys to be a bit too separated when it comes to trying to write code on it. I was wondering if people hand any recommendations for cheaper smaller keyboards that would be helpful. Preferably the main thing would be having keys that are coming closer together. I have far less issues when programming on my laptops keyboard compared to my k70 on my PC. I’d be open to looking at all suggestions.

programming Thinking about a app for linis tech tips forums
woodlandgamer posted a topic in Programming
I was thinking if I could possible make an app for linis tech tips forums on mobile with a good ui and make it free and open-source without ads? Like a 4 chan viewer on the play store. And if so how hard would it be -
Hi, I need a little help looking for a cheap programming laptop with the following requirements. 1. It needs to be something light. I want something that I could take on the go without carrying a brick. 2. As it says above, it needs to be "cheaper". I'm looking for something around $300 to $400 range, anything a littler bit more or cheaper is accepted. 3. With regards to cpu and gpu power, I am in no need of a dedicated gpu. The processor, I would prefer a quad core, but a dual core will suffice. Clock speed should be 2.0 Ghz or above. 4. When it comes to ram I'm not planning on doing any android development on it, so there doesn't need to be a lot. 4 gb will suffice, 8 is preffered, 16 would be great. I know it seems kind of weird to ask people on a forum for this kind of thing instead of just doing some research myself, but who knows. Someone could read this and know of a laptop off of the top of there head. Thanks

EDIT: A jailbreak has been released for OS 5.6.0 and below! You can find the topic about it here: Original post: I know I'm new to this forum, but I have been an active member of the calculator community for over 4 years. I'm trying to spread the word about this as much as I can, hopefully achieving a segment on TechLinked, and to give TI enough negative backlash to consider negotiating better terms with the community. I'll keep this article as an overview, but I'll link my in-depth sources at the end. If you want to get up to speed quickly, I made a video that summarizes the vast majority of all the information I've gathered across dozens of sources! There's a lot of information that wasn't covered in this thread so check it out if you want to know everything! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSkN0aMswXs What exactly happened? Just a few days ago, TI Education announced that the most recent OS for theTI-84 Plus CE (-T) and TI-83 Premium CE removes the ability for the calculator to run any Assembly (ASM) code. With the decision planned to go global, this means that any program written in ASM or C will not run on any CE operating on the newest TI OS 5.5.1 or higher! Click for animated PNG (Source: TI-Planet: Français | English) Why did this happen? One big factor in the decision to ban ASM was due to a video created by a student and a teacher that showed the exact steps to bypass a Test Mode restriction in OS 5.2.2, an obsolete, 3 year old OS. What made the matter worse is they passed the issue off as if it were still present in modern OSes! With the video gaining almost a quarter of a million views, TI thought they'd need to take some drastic measures to uphold their Exam Mode security reputation. Why is this so frustrating? This is quite a punch in the gut for the community, TI had given TI-Planet (a very reputable TI forum that has been reporting on calculator news for over a decade) a beta build of OS 5.5.0 to review and post about. This build given to TI-Planet had all the benifits of the new Python abilities, however ASM was not banned on this build. To the community, it looks like TI knew we would hate the removal of ASM and therefor gave a different build to us just to drum up support. Then when release date came, they pulled the rug from under our feet and released OS 5.5.1 instead which did include the ASM restrictions TI-Planet, has privately shared security flaws related to Exam Mode TI needed to fix, and kept vulnerabilities a secret as to not cause this exact situation. TI Planet has put so much meticulous care into protecting the hobby of thousands of students and future Computer Science Majors, like me, it's infuriating to see one clumsy video with a quarter of a million views set years of hard work go up in smoke. TI Planet's time trying to protect the community isn't the only thing wasted, the hundreds developer's countless hours spent creating amazing content from overclocking utilities, to math additions like CAS, and games will become obsolete when newer calculators inevitably outnumber older ones. TI does offer alternative programming options like TI-BASIC and Python, but as TI Planet user jean-baptiste boric points out on Cemetech: Source: Cemetech: English It's also infuriating that TI's consistent reactions of killing a fly with a sledge hammer has done nothing to solve their security, in fact it has only worsened it. I think forum Planet Casio explains it better than I can: Note: I have paraphrased the French to English translation in order to make it sound as coherent as possible. (Source: Planète Casio: Français | English) Now that ASM is banned and this situation can't get much worse, the community is already finding exploits that allows not only the ability to run ASM code anyways, but ways to bypass TI's insecure Exam Mode (which was only ever 'secure' because the community was careful not to release the exploits to the public). The community is already brainstorming alternatives that will both satisfy TI and the dedicated programming community. We're doing our best to come to terms with TI and avoid creating another cat-and-mouse game of finding and patching exploits (which happened on the Nspire). Conclusion: Like I said at the beginning, my goal is to spread the word about this as much as I can. Although this is only effecting the CE line up of calculators right now, TI has not ruled out releasing updates to older models that also bans ASM. (Source: An e-mail from TI-Cares posted on TI-Planet: Français | English) Sources: These go more in-depth than I did in this article. TI-Planet's 20 year history of ASM on calculators is a particularly great read. Cemetech: TI Removes ASM/C Programming from TI-83 Premium CE: English TI-83 Premium CE/TI-84 Plus CE ASM/C Removal: Updates: English Planet Casio: TI supprime les programmes assembleur sur TI-83 Premium CE et 84+ CE version 5.5: Français TI removes assembly programs on TI-83 Premium CE and 84+ CE version 5.5: English ticalc: TI removes access to assembly programs on the TI-83 Premium CE: English TI-Planet: Mise à jour 5.5 supprime assembleur TI-83 Premium CE & 84+CE: Français Update 5.5 removes TI-83 Premium CE & 84 + CE assembler: English

Hi, so I'm only 14 but I want to become an Ethical Hacker, or work for the CIA in Intelligence. I know just a little bit about coding, but I was wondering if any of the people here who are older than me, and have more experience in this field than me, have any tips. Thanks.

Hi all, i kinda need help to find a budget PC for gaming+streaming, video editing, and some project programming for web design and mobile app. The games that i play and stream is Dota2, Apex Legend, Pubg, The witcher 3,Monster Hunter: World, and other RPG game for mid quality setting. For editing video after streaming and post it on social platform. I would also gonna do some programming for web design and app design. To be honest I am really kinda new to all this PC hardware because before this i've been to cyber cafe/internet cafe to do all my stuff, and now because of this "pandemic" i really do need to buy a PC. Thank You, Best Regards.

Budget (including currency): 1000 USD (4500 RON) (could go slightly higher) Country: Romania Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming and software development Other details: did a preliminary part list, would greatly appreciate some help fine tuning it. I also had 2 questions that could affect this list 1. would an RX 5700 be a worthwhile upgrade from a 2060? (or maybe even the XT) 2. would waiting for Zen 3 and the new line-up make sense or no? Also, this list comes up below 1000$, but parts in my area are more expensive so this list would cost me around 1000$ on the dot. So, I am making the switch from Windows to macOS. I have some experience with using VS Code in a windows environment but because I am making the switch, I was curious if using the native Xcode would maybe result in better performance. Anyone have any opinions of one over the other? I know that choosing an editor/IDE to work with depends on the individual's requirements but I would like to consider the idea of just overall use in general settings.

I'm trying to help a friend find her next laptop with a budget of around 1k USD, that will be used for mainly programming, but I need some help. She's requiring it to have a glass screen and it cannot be a macbook. Max screen size of 15. She doesn't play games often, maybe some light games but definitely no triple A games. If possible, decent IO is preferred: dongles are not a favorite. And it needs to have enough storage to dual boot windows and Linux. Any help with the search is greatly appreciated. If I missed any info that could help narrow it down just ask

Hi all - First time post & first time PC build. I have been a MacBook user in my personal life for 8 years, and use a PC for development at work. I am building a PC as my existing MacBook cannot support 4 screens, and its performance for machine learning is lackluster relative to what I am looking for. PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor ($432.41 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard ($189.99 @ Best Buy) Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($164.99 @ Best Buy) Storage: ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($149.97 @ Amazon) Video Card: MSI GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 8 GB GAMING X TRIO Video Card ($818.00 @ Amazon) Case: Cooler Master MasterCase H500M ATX Mid Tower Case ($239.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2018) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($155.98 @ Newegg) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit ($139.99 @ Other World Computing) External Storage: Seagate Expansion 8 TB External Hard Drive ($131.99 @ Adorama) Total: $2423.31 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-05-01 01:14 EDT-0400 1. Budget & location $2600 United States. 2. Aim. I have two requirements: A. PC should be able to support 4 monitors for day trading. B. PC should support Machine learning workload. 3. Monitors. I do have the 4 27-inch monitors, and they have HDMI & DVI ports. ASUS VE278 with 1920×1080 resolution. I would like a recommendation for a 4-arm stand if someone has one. 4. Peripherals: I plan on using 64 bit Windows 10 Pro. Is there any other recommended software to buy on a new PC (e.g. for virus protection?) Already have mouse & keyboard. The biggest cost choices came down to CPU, GPU, and motherboard. While I originally was leaning with the Ryzen 3700X, I had extra budget and decided to go with 3900X since the 3800X seems like a little improvement. CPU for Machine Learning helps with some of the pre-processing of data prior to training, so I do see incremental value here. I decided to go with the Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard as it will pair with my Ryzen 3900X and seems to have good reviews overall. Have had good experience with ASUS before. I have been torn between the 2080 Super vs 2080 Ti. I decided to go with the 2080 Super because for machine learning purposes, I would like to see some return on investment in regards to the work I expect to do on the machine. If I see the return on investment in my Machine Learning work, I may just spend more at a later time & get a second GPU to support my workload. One area that is particularly confusing for me is cases. I do care about the double-tempered glass with RGB light aesthetic, but with so many options and lots of variance in reviews, its hard to understand who delivers quality here. Some of the brands that seem good are Corsair, ThermalTake, and Cooler Master. Any recommendations here? The $240 for the case does seem pricey, but I think it should have good air flow. Welcome any feedback, thank you so much. This is a large investment for me.

Hi, I am a college student and my university implemented Duo multifactor authentication about a year ago. It has been super obnoxious to have to authenticate on every single university webpage you visit, and it really isn't a service that requires that much security. My question is, would it be possible to write a script on my phone (Oneplus 5 on Android 9) that could automatically respond to the push notifications for the Duo app? I'm studying engineering, so I have some experience with coding, but this is a bit out of my depth. Any suggestions of how I could write such a script/which app I could use to run said script would be greatly appreciated.

Hello guys, I am in a bit of a dilemma and I would like to listen to some of your opinions. I am looking for a keyboard for office work and specifically programming. I have come down to two choices: the Logitech K800 (https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/wireless-illuminated-keyboard-k800) and the Logitech MK850 (https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/mk850-wireless-keyboard-mouse-combo). The way I see it is: K800: + lighting keyboard + nice typing feel + elegant - no mouse included - need charging with micro-usb - no wrist cushion MK850: + accompanied by a nice mouse + wrist cushion + multi-device connection - squishy buttons are mentioned a lot - no backlight Do any of you have real experience with the fore-mentioned keyboards? Thanks!!

Hey you guys on the forum. I work as a software developer in Germany. I've been living in a rural area with very limited internet access (6 Mbit) for a very long time. Thankfully the situation changed now that I have moved. I love gaming and especially playing multiplayer games with my friends over the internet. With such a small internet connection, you often have a bad ping or connection loss. Even the smallest download (Windows updates or Steam) in the background can ruin a round. So I wrote a lightweight application to monitor the connection quality of my internet in the system tray. You can see at a glance how good the Internet quality is to find out if the problem is on your side or somewhere else. This is what the app looks like: Like I said it is a very lightweight application which uses 0%-0.4% of CPU on my 6700k and about 5 MB of RAM. This is what the settings menu looks like: I hope it is particularly useful for those who have bad internet. You are welcome to download and use it free of charge to monitor your connection quality. You can download it from my google drive LINK. Just unzip it and run the PingerLite.exe. You can double click the tray icon to enter the settings menu. Sincerely yours Ciwo

I am planning on building a pc for my university course, cyber security, because I am in my second year using a laptop. We recently started using virtual machines but my laptop cant handle it. So I'm wanting to build a pc within the £500 budget that can run programming software, virtual machines, networking tasks smoothly. I also want to have a side of gaming and watching youtube/netflix on the side. I am happy to upgrade later down the line like around october/novermber time. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Been saving up for the past 2 years. Also I am from the U.K if that makes a difference to anything.

A solid laptop for 4-5 Years under 800 bucks
Arda Na posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
I would like to program on a laptop that would last for at least 4-5 years. I would like to program games if possible in the future so i need a laptop for this purpose. I would like to do at least light if possible and a pc that can run emulators as well. And I'm so confused with the benchmark sites that are showing exactly the opposite results from eachother. For example: https://versus.com/tr/amd-ryzen-5-3500u-vs-intel-core-i5-8265u https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-8265U-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-3500U/m566107vsm760067. It might not be true but like some sites are fanboys of intel or amd. I don't get it.- 11 replies
