Wasn't sure where to put this question, sorry! I’ve decided that I want to pursue a computer science career. I’ve poked around and have found interest in programming, general IT work, some networking stuff, and some others. Overall, I’m looking for insight on the field. I’m particularly overwhelmed (and excited!) with the number of unique, yet sometimes similar jobs within the field (“Computer Programmer” vs “Software Developer,” for example). On top of this, some of these seem to have different college majors associated with them. So specifically, I’m looking for advice on how to pick a college/career path: how to “test the waters,” and pick one I enjoy the most. I’m also very interested if anyone in any computer science field would like to share: What is your average workday like? What role does college (deciding to go to college, which college, which major, etc) play in the job market? Do you have any regrets about your particular path? If so, what piece of advice would you have given yourself before you dove into the field? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for reading!

Corsair Obsidian 750D Fractal Design R5 Window Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Window I just cant decide i have the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO ATX MOBO but what case should i use for it? 1. The 750D looks amazing but i have heard that the build quality isn't that nice and is it really worth over the Phanteks Enthoo line up? 2. The R5 i like this silent little case but i would like better airflow as i dont want a very hot computer. I know that u can increase airflow in the case but that requires taking things out of the case right? 3. The Luxe i love the design of this case with alot of options im just worried about it being too loud or maybe my ATX MOBO will look too small inside the big case. What would you recommend?

I tried to run one of my projects for school but every time a run it I get the message that says "Project out of date". I read that I can fix it by deleting the tlog files and rebuild the project but it only works temporarily. Lets say I create another project/solution and run that, I get the message again, Or if I close Visual Studio and open it again later I get the message again. Can someone help please? Much appreciated.

So it is finally black Friday, I've decided to purchase a new PC for programming. To be specific, programming server applications that involves running an Oracle's Weblogic server, MySQL servers and Eclipse. A good graphics card is totally not required, since I will just watch some videos(not 4K) on a daily bases. So a integrated or a very weak graphics card that works is fine. What I mainly concerned on for my build is which CPU I should get. A few CPU comes to my mind are: Intel i7-4770K Intel i7-6700 AMD FX-9590 AMD FX-8350 Am I on the right track? Please do suggest some other great CPUs for my situation thank you (This is my first post here )

Hello people. i am currently building a site (nothing special), and i want to find the users geolocation if the user press a button. everything looks to work just fine, i have enabled high accuracy, but there are times that the location shown might be a little off position (about 10-50 meters) and other times totally wrong. Just fyi, about 70% of the times the results look good. Is there any other way to improve the accuracy of the gps to find the location? Finally, is there a way to make it work to non supported browsers( fb browser, IE, samsung stock browser that seem not to be supported by the api (edge works fine))

Hey guys! Keep getting this error and i've tried everything i could think of, any ideas? public class ResultButtonClass : MainWindow { public void ResultButtonMethod() { Variables variables = new Variables(); //Call variables variables.mathMode = MathMode.Text; variables.value1 = Convert.ToDouble(Value1.Text); <--- Error pops up here variables.value2 = Convert.ToDouble(Value2.Text); if (variables.mathMode == "Add") { variables.result = variables.value1 + variables.value2; ResultBox.Text = Convert.ToString(variables.result); } else if (variables.mathMode == "Subtract") { variables.result = variables.value1 - variables.value2; ResultBox.Text = Convert.ToString(variables.result); } else if (variables.mathMode == "Multiply") { variables.result = variables.value1 * variables.value2; ResultBox.Text = Convert.ToString(variables.result); } else if (variables.mathMode == "Devide") { variables.result = variables.value1 / variables.value2; ResultBox.Text = Convert.ToString(variables.result); }

1. Budget & Location I would start at 600 dollars but as time goes on upgrade. I live in NS, Canada. so CAD 2. Aim To be used for Programming, Gaming, Audio projects, and Video rendering at 1080p as well as video recording. plus the usual work and web browsing. Games include: Source engine Games: CS:GO CS:S DOTA L4D2 and games like KSP Minecraft Arma 2 and 3 amnesia Fallout New Vegas Skyrim A upgradable PC is desired. 3. Monitors Start with 1 monitor but eventually buy a second both at 1080p 4. Peripherals Headphone suggestions would be appreciated as I currently only have earbuds(my turtlebeach Earforce X12's broke and would love a higher quality pair anyway) 5. Why are you upgrading? I currently have a pre-built pc which i have upgraded so i can still use it with modern games and software but it cant handle so many things now days, it constantly crashes. I program and game lots plus i love experimenting. if you want to know its a Hewlett Packard a6040n desktop PC. Upgraded to 4 gigs of ram.(even if it can only use 3.5) Has a amd graphics card 6570. Diamond Multimedia AMD Radeon HD 6570 2GB GDDR3 PCIE VGA I was hoping to get some help building a computer as I havent built a pc i have studied things for months and studied my old pc's and switched around their parts installed operating systems and troubleshoot them as well as countless others at my school, but i havent built one yet. A large pc is fine. I just need some suggestions. I have 150 mbps download and 30mbps upload so gigabit ethernet is also a must even though as far as i know those are a standard now. oh and my current PC averages in most games 20-30fps. so Im not bothered by framerates lower than 60 or 30 it used to be between 6 and 11 when i didnt have the graphics card(which i got a year ago). here is my current pc's specs just add 2gigs ram and that graphics card i stated above. http://support.hp.co...ument/c00878693

Hello all, It has come to the time of year where I get the change to upgrade my components of my computer. Currently I have an AMD APU chipset. I am planning to upgrade to an intel core i7. I am still debating whether to buy an 5820k on the x99 platform or to buy the 4790k on the z97 platform. With the new processor I will be programming for the university and some programming projects for my self which may include graphical work and 3D rendering. Furthermore I will be doing streaming with this rig. I will also have to buy a new motherboard, I have been looking at the msi MPower and XPower since they have the yellow colour scheme which I would like to maintain in my rig as next year I will create a custom water cooled loop in my rig, with which I was hoping to use some yellow liquid. So my two questions are: 1) should I go for the z97 platform or spend 50 euros more and go for the x99 platform (not including new ram) 2) for each one of these would the MSI motherboards mentioned above be a good fit or are there any other interesting options out on the market? Cheers!!

Hi:) I'm looking to build a new PC for around £400 GBP. I already have a copy of Windows 7, Mouse, Keyboard, and Monitor. The computer will be used for: - Office documents - Gaming - Minecraft - Garry's Mod - CS:GO - Tekkit/FTB I'd also like to be able to upgrade it in the future to run such games as GTA V. In the future I may also upgrade to 3 x 1080p monitors. I've heard about the Pentium G3258 Dual Core as it is a beast for overclocking, however i'm not sure.

Unofficial Challenge : Make a simple script that runs on startup in DD-WRT v24-sp2 build 21061. Reward : Assassins Creed Unity Game Code !!! (primary goals) GTA 5 ( will need to buy a copy so it might take time :unsure: ) (Secondary satisfied) You will be credited in every source I post this which will be helpful for a lot of people( but you can decide if I should post this elsewhere) Primary Goals : The script has to login to the ISP automagically on router start up. (Primary Goal) It should not affect other dd-wrt settings. Secondary Goal : It may check every say 10 minutes for login status and if logged out then it must proceed to login. (without auto reboot every time of-course ) Conditions : First one to complete the primary challenge gets the ACU code. First one to complete the secondary challenge gets the GTA code.(after a max of 2 weeks :unsure: ) If a user completes both challenges at a time he gets both the codes. Linus Tech Tips or the LTT Forum has nothing to do with this challenge. You can ask anyone to do it wherever it may be but the first post on this forum will be the one eligible for the codes. If you do not know dd-wrt thingy create a .bat file that executes after 10 minutes of PC startup. ( you are eligible only if no one submits a way to do it in dd-wrt) Must be EASY TO DO : I am a noob in coding and programming If you need additional data ask me and I ll provide it for sure but please be specific with step by step procedures. Must mention the areas where I should type the credentials with a clear procedure or snapshot highlighting it. Snapshot of logged in page : http://prntscr.com/70n3nx Snapshot of logged in page : http://prntscr.com/70n2lr References of previous attempts( very useful for knowing what you are dealing with ) : Please credit them if their ways helped you http://www.brijin.net/login-to-tikona/ http://log.amitshah.net/2010/09/auto-login-to-web-proxies-using-networkmanager/ Source Code: ( login page ) Primary URL: 1.254.254.254 (redirects to a 5 second countdown after redirecting to Secondary URL) Secondary URL : https://login.tikona.in/userportal/login.do?requesturi=http%3A%2F%2F1.254.254.254%2F&act=null After login : URL : https://login.tikona.in/userportal/newlogin.do?phone=0

I am in school for Software Development and hopefully by the end of it moving up to a bachelors in Computer Science, So I will be starting with Java coding and eventually move up through the coding ladder myself or in school. But to the point of this post, I am broke as hell and my build that I want is $1.2k and I just don't have the time to save up for that, So I may go with some AMD stuff to cut costs and maybe even a Radeon GPU as well, or at the very least something like a 750ti, but I need to know if the $90 AMD FX-6300 at 3.5GHz with 6 cores is going to be able to handle the work load of what I'm going to throw at it. Shooting for $500-700 for my cheap build so I can deal with the work load till I can save up, Throw some build ideas my way if you want I'm totally open to suggestions.

Anyone ever worked with an STM32F401C-DISCO micro controller? i'm currently testing one but i'm having difficulty to make it do one application: when pressing the user button start led toggle and when pressing it again turn off the led; so far i've managed to link the button to an EXTI and make it start the LED toggle when pressed, but i can't figure out how to make it stop. STM manuals seem to worthless as any manual can be and seems like this board doesn't have an active community like Arduino does. Any suggestions are welcome. /** ****************************************************************************** * @[member=File] main.c * @author Ac6 * @[member=versions] V1.0 * @[member=Date] 01-December-2013 * @brief Default main function. *******************************************************************************/#include "stm32f4xx.h"#include "stm32f401_discovery.h" void LedSetup(void) { GPIO_InitTypeDef GPIO_InitStructure; /* Enable the GPIO LED clock */ RCC_AHB1PeriphClockCmd(RCC_AHB1Periph_GPIOD, ENABLE); /* Configure the GPIO_LED pin */ GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Pin = GPIO_Pin_12; GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Mode= GPIO_Mode_OUT; GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_OType = GPIO_OType_PP; GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_PuPd = GPIO_PuPd_UP; GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Speed =GPIO_Speed_50MHz; GPIO_Init(GPIOD, &GPIO_InitStructure); }void ButtonSetup(void) { GPIO_InitTypeDef GPIO_InitStructure; NVIC_InitTypeDef NVIC_InitStructure; EXTI_InitTypeDef EXTI_InitStructure; /* Enable GPIOA clock */ RCC_AHB1PeriphClockCmd(RCC_AHB1Periph_GPIOA, ENABLE); /* Configure PA0 pin as input floating */ GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Mode = GPIO_Mode_IN; GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_PuPd = GPIO_PuPd_NOPULL; GPIO_InitStructure.GPIO_Pin = GPIO_Pin_0; GPIO_Init(GPIOA, &GPIO_InitStructure); /* Enable GPIOA clock */ RCC_APB2PeriphClockCmd(RCC_APB2Periph_SYSCFG, ENABLE); /* Configure EXTI line0 */ EXTI_InitStructure.EXTI_Line = EXTI_Line0; EXTI_InitStructure.EXTI_Mode = EXTI_Mode_Interrupt; EXTI_InitStructure.EXTI_Trigger = EXTI_Trigger_Rising; EXTI_InitStructure.EXTI_LineCmd = ENABLE; EXTI_Init(&EXTI_InitStructure); /*Connect EXTI Line0 to PA0 pin*/ SYSCFG_EXTILineConfig(EXTI_PortSourceGPIOA, EXTI_PinSource0); /* Enable and set EXTI Line0 Interrupt to the lowest priority */ NVIC_InitStructure.NVIC_IRQChannel = EXTI0_IRQn; NVIC_InitStructure.NVIC_IRQChannelPreemptionPriority = 0x01; NVIC_InitStructure.NVIC_IRQChannelSubPriority = 0x01; NVIC_InitStructure.NVIC_IRQChannelCmd = ENABLE; NVIC_Init(&NVIC_InitStructure); }int main(void){ /* LED initialization */ LedSetup(); /* Initialize button and interrupt */ ButtonSetup(); for(;;}/** * @brief This function handles External line 0 interrupt request * @param None * @retval None */void EXTI0_IRQHandler(void){ int i, y; y =1; if(EXTI_GetITStatus(EXTI_Line0) != RESET) { if(y = 1) { while(1) { /* Empty cycles for led toggle */ for(i = 0; i < 5000000; i++); STM_EVAL_LEDToggle(LED4); y = 0; } } if(y = 0) { while(1) { GPIO_ResetBits(GPIOD, GPIO_Pin_12); y = 1; } } /* Clear the EXTI line 0 pending bit */ EXTI_ClearITPendingBit(EXTI_Line0); }}void HardFault_Handler(void){ while(1);}
