So, I'm currently in my second to last year of high school and am in a course for app development. I would call myself more of a networking guy instead of actually a software guy. But that's not the point, the point is that I need some ideas for my own app to get some credits (can be done with others). It doesn't have to be anything special, it's more about the development process than anything else and so I want some ideas so I can actually start making the app so I don't fail my year because I just couldn't think of anything I was capable of alone in this period of time. Here are the requirements for the app: It doesn't have to be restricted to mobile devices. It can be a web app, mobile app, desktop app etc. It has to be something that won't be a super boring app to develop, I want something that will actually give me some motivation till the end. It can't be a game or any app that requires animations and sprites etc. Because I'm simply not good enough at photoshop, illistrator and Blender to actually pull it off. I don't want it to be too difficult, but easy for someone of a sort-of newbie skill level, something that can be done but won't be too much for me to handle. So, you are probably wondering what level my coding skills are: I'm decent at c#, nothing special but I can understand and manipulate c# code. I haven't dived too much into external libraries and APIs but I'm sure I could do it. I've learnt some SQL and could manage some basic SQL functions if a database was necessary. I'm willing to learn new languages but I would need an app that is fairly easy as I would be starting out in the new language. I'm quite good at web design and could pull of something like ASP.NET web application. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hopefully you haven't got completely bored of this yet. And can still read on. Because i'm also in need of some help, if it's an idea that I might need help in it would be fantastic if someone who new how to code better than me or at the same level could help me with this as I'm not fully confident in my skills but I learn fast and would appreciate the help. Thanks guys, this is an epic community and I hope you guys can help me out however you can! Thanks!

I'm a really noob programming, I mean that I don't have any idea on what I'm doing but somehow I decided to write a little program just for fun. Since my C's knowledge is just awful because the last time I used something even close was months before, I have no idea why this thingy thing doesn't work. //MRU #include <stdio.h> #include <math.h> int main () { //MRU x=p+v(t-y) double x,p,v,t,y,q,w,e,r,u; printf (" MRU\nIntroduzca los datos\nPresione '0' si no conoce el valor\n\n"); printf ("Distancia final:\n"); scanf ("%d.", &x); printf ("Distancia inicial:\n"); scanf ("%d.", &p); printf ("Velocidad:\n"); scanf ("%d.", &v); printf ("Tiempo final:\n"); scanf ("%d.", &t); printf ("Tiempo inicial:\n"); scanf ("%d.", &y); if (x==0) { q==p+v*(t-y); printf ("La distancia final es %f.",q); } if (p==0) { w==x-v*(t-y); printf ("La distancia inicial es %f.",w); } if (v==0) { e==(x-p)/(t-y); printf ("La velocidad es %f.",e); } if (t==0) { r==(x-p-v*y)/v; printf ("El tiempo final es %f.",r); } if (y==0) { u==(p+v*t-x)/v; printf ("El tiempo inicial es %f.",u); } return 0; } It is on Spanish but feel free to edit it and do whatever you want with the code since it is garbage Thanks

I'm in high school and I'm really interested in diving deeper into programming on platforms like the HTC Vive. Right now, I'm finding it very hard to figure out where to start. I was wondering if any of you guys have some experience and can direct me in the right direction. I know a few languages and I think I have the ability to pick up more pretty quickly, but I haven't really worked with 3D objects like this before. Thanks for all the help!

I'm looking for the best gaming laptop under 1000 dollars. Main usage would be for gaming, programming, and audio recording. And ssd would be preferable but a combination of both and ssd and hard drive would be ok too. Intel processor is also preferable. I plan on keeping it for a while so reliability and longevity are a must. Screen size 15.6 minimum. Battery life,size and weight are not important to me. I would like and hdmi port and 2 3.0 USB ports as well.

Greetings all, So I am looking to buy a new monitor in the coming months in order to upgrade from my Asus VX239H 1080 @ 60Hz display. I will keep my current display as a second display on the side, but I need advice on what will be the best new main display for me. I am a programmer/developer and gamer, and want a higher resolution than 1080p. I have been looking at the following: -AOC Q3277PQU (32" AMVA 1440p) -Dell UltraSharp U2715H (27" IPS 1440p) -BenQ GW2765HT (27" IPS 1440p) The games I currently play are thing such as BF4, Dirt Rally, etc. I am running an R9 390 Nitro, i5-6600k and 16GB DDR4 RAM. Upgrading my GPU setup is not really an option for me at the minute, that's why I have avoided the idea of 4k displays, because I won't be able to game very well on that kind of resolution. Is 32" too big for 1440p? It's approximately the same PPI as my current 22-inch 1080p display, or will that be a good idea? Thoughts on 1440p? Is 4k a realistic option? My target price is around £250-£350, but that's just a guide. What are your opinions and suggestions? Many thanks! -Cameron

Here is my code <?php //Connecting to sql db. $connect = mysqli_connect("127.0.0.1","root","","leorsite"); $rec_limit= 4; $sql = "SELECT count(article_id) FROM article"; $retval = mysqli_query ($connect, $sql); if (! $retval) { die('Could not get data: ' . mysqli_error()); } $row = mysqli_fetch_array($retval, MYSQLI_NUM); $rec_count = $row[]; if( isset($_GET{'page'} ) ) { $page = $_GET{'page'} + 1; $offset = $rec_limit * $page ; }else { $page = ; $offset = ; } $left_rec = $rec_count - ($page * $rec_limit); $sql = "SELECT article_id, article_title, article_summary ". However my issue is that when I click the next record link it will not show another 4 records but the same 4 that I originally view. If someone can help that would be great.

Hello, I have an issue whereby the div tags are successfully created, however, the content from the article_summary and article_title are not being displayed. Instead I have 3 rather empty div tags, Code <?php //Connecting to sql db. $connect = mysqli_connect("127.0.0.1","root","","leorsite"); $sql = "SELECT * FROM (SELECT * FROM article ORDER BY article_id DESC LIMIT 0 , 3) article ORDER BY article_id ASC"; $result = mysqli_query($connect, $sql); while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result)) { ?> <div class="completeArticleHolder"> <div class="articleTitle"> <h2><?php $row['article_title'] ?></h2> </div> <div class="articleBodyText"> <?php $row['article_summary'] ?> </div> </div> <?php } ?>

But, I will say I am having lots of trouble with C++ for some reason like I get the very basics but combine C++ with visual studio and everything seems more extremely complicated then it should be like honestly like visual studio itself is just stupid is there a better ide out there maybe that's my problem any advice? Maybe a good ide for both Windows and Linux as I use linux at home and Windows in the classroom

I need this for a project in college and I want to get it done over the weekend! I will really appreciate it if someone can help me get these two scripts to work with each other. Thanks for reading! -Scott(SD2020_)

I hear this from a lot of people that they take just a month to learn a language. But, I take around 4 months to learn from top to bottom. Someone told me, programming ain't for me. Am I wrong. I'd like some advice from fellow programmers

The budget is flexible but I intend to do most of my work on my desktop. I code mostly web languages and will most likely install Ubuntu onto the laptop. i was looking at the Acer Aspire One Cloudbook 11 but it only has 2GB ram and not hard drive space (i might be okay with that with a memory stick) I was also looking at Lenovo Ideapad 100-15IBY but it has the same resolution and only 4hr battery life (but it has larger hard drive and 4GB of RAM)

Hello Everyone, Budget & Location INR 90k, INDIA. Aim I'm going to build a pc for programming. All other usual stuff like web browsing etc, but importantly I'll also use this for very basic photo editing. I want to be able to play games in the future adding a graphics card (certainly not now). List of components intel 6700 asus z170 pro gaming kingston hyperx fury black series 8gb 2133 MHz DDR4 samsung 850 evo 256GB or seagate 1tb (but not both) corsair vs 550w deepcool tesseract lg 25um65 windows 10 pro The concerns I've with above list of components 1) Intel skylake cpus freezing with prime 95. 2) The motherboard has some fair amount of complaints on newegg, so I'm open for suggestions. 3) Mechanical HDDs aren't reliable these days (I'm looking at seagate sshd (online customer reviews), never had a WD but my friend's WD failed so), so I thought why not ssd. But I want to run linux on vm, so please suggest if there is a reliable hdd with good warranty (tried and tested). 4) Also reports that Intel skylake cpus are bending with aftermarket coolers. These above concerns made me come up with a new list of components The new list of components intel 4790k asus microatx b85m-g corsair hydro series h80i gt corsair vengenance 8gb DDR3 samsung 850 evo 256GB or seagate 1tb (but not both) corsair vs 550w deepcool tesseract lg 25um65 Windows 10 pro The concerns I've with above list of components 1) Haswell is already couple generations dated, so would it serve me well going two years into the future. 2) Issues with mechanical hdd, same as above. The reason for going with lg 25um65 is being a programmer, I would like to see more on the screen side by side (suggestions welcome). Also was considering if I should go with the OEM version of windows rather than full, just to lower the cost little bit, if not buy windows 8.1 or windows 7 and then upgrade for free (would there be any issues) .

Hi there! I'm building a website and i'm looking for a place to host it because i don't have a computer or stable internet connection at home. I'm super new to all this but the thought i had was i build the website, buy a domain and then find a way to host it. So do you know any cheap place that hosts websites? It's absolutely not for heavy use and will just be used in my CV basically. Thanks in forehand for your input

Hi LTT community, I'm in need of some help. My Lenovo's battery died after about 6 months of use so I'm getting away from that and I'm on the hunt again. I'm looking for a laptop that would get me through college and a bit of gaming. I'm majoring in computer programming so a lot of ram really helps. For the gaming aspect of it isn't that big because I don't expect to max out games. My budget is around $1000 CAD. What laptops would you recommend to get?

In this series I'll be taking you from the extreme basics of PHP, to a working knowledge that should allow you to find you way around most web development environments. These tutorials will be made in my free time. I cannot guarantee the frequency of tutorials. However, I will try my best. I know there is a tutorial forum. I felt these tutorials would be more appropriate in the programming forum. If this is incorrect please move my post to the appropriate destination. What is PHP? PHP is a recursive initial which stands for "PHP hypertext pre-processor". PHP is an extremely popular server side scripting language which is compatible with almost every modern web server and all major operating systems. PHP is the backbone for a majority of webpages, CMSs (Content management system), Frameworks, and anything of the like. Why should I learn PHP? PHP is a handy scripting language for any programmer to know, and is essential knowledge for any web development/design environment. How do I set up a PHP development environment on my computer? Check out the video below, since there are so many great video tutorials on the subject, there's no need for me to write out a few paragraphs explaining the process. Windows Os x Linux Now that we have covered the basics of what PHP is, we'll get started in coding our very first PHP script! Today's script will be extremely simple, since this is lesson #1. The difficulty will increase with each tutorial. Script #1 - Hello World! Today we'll be coding a simple hello world script. The purpose of this script will be to introduce you to how you should start a PHP document, and introduce you to notation and the echo language construct. When starting a PHP script you always use PHP tags. You will put your code between the PHP tags. PHP tags are what tells the -insert thing here- how to render the script properly. <?php ?> Now we'll introduce you to notations. Notations are used to help clean your code and make it easier for other developers to quickly understand the intended purpose specific segments of your code. Anything following a notation mark on the same line will not be rendered. If you were to open the PHP document below you would only see a blank page. <?php //This is a single line notation //Anything you type following a "//" will not be rendered, but only on that line. You can put any code here and nothing will happen. //For example: echo "You won't be seeing this"; /* This is a multi line notation. Nothing will be rendered following "/*" and preceding */ ?> Now that you know what notations are we'll be moving onto the echo language construct. If you were wondering, "a language construct is a syntactically allowable part of a program that may be formed from one or more lexical tokens in accordance with the rules of a programming language." Echo can be used to print text or HTML. If you were to open the following code in a browser you would see the text "Hello World". <?php echo "Hello World"; ?> Echo can also be used to print out HTML code such as <BR>, <div>, etc. You can find an example of using echo for HTML below. <?php echo '<div align="right"> Hello World</div>'; ?> If you look closely, you'll notice that this time we used single quotations instead of double quotations. You use single quotations when you do not want anything inside the quotes to be rendered. This is useful when what you're echoing contains another double quote, a variable you don't want passed publicly, etc. We'll go further into detail with this later in the series. You may view the finished product of today's tutorial by following the link below. Finished Code If you have any questions post below and I'll try to answer as many as I can.
