So, I was wondering how I make an executable program from my program I've written in Java so some of my friends can play with it. This is probably basic knowledge to most of you here, but I have searched for an answer for a few weeks now, until I decided to ask the nice people on this forum. If someone is interested in the source code, it's available on Github : https://github.com/Vogeltak/Hangman It's just a basic text-based hangman game, for practicing (is it practicing or practising) purposes. If you have tips on how to improve my code, I would value your feedback! Because I'm sure there are some things wrong with it, or done inefficiently.. Thank you

Hi guys, I imagine it would display all the files just like a normal windows explorer window but me clicking on any of them instantly allows me to rename the files as this is all it's purpose is. It would also allow me to jump between directories easily. That's just my "perfect world" idea though. Anything similar would work. I have 1000+ files to rename in multiple (300+) directories. So... yeah. :| Help is appreciated. I haven't started yet, as I'm waiting for the files to mirror onto another server, but once that's done, I'll be editing them (Monday, or 72 hours from now roughly). -

I'm working as hard as I can to become a programmer and learn as much as possible. Except I run Ubuntu 12.04LTS and I'm finding the programming not noob-friendly and I want something noob friendly. I've had allot of problems with Windows but is it worth switching back to get more noob-friendly programming. I've ran multiple virtual machines in Linux to try and do programming but its far from the same as doing it when your only using Windows. So I want to see what you think. Thanks in advance

So, is it good? I have been thinking about picking it up if it comes on sale during steam summersale, is it any good? I think it looks fun but that there is a possibility that you will get bored after a few hours of gametime, am I right?

I saw the nifty little power menu program that was pinned to the taskbar in Linus's unboxing of a Gigabyte laptop, so I thought I'd give a shot at making a little applet that lets you do the same thing. When Linus unboxed the Gigabyte U2442D ultrabook, he mentioned that there's no point in buying antivirus software because there's so many free options available. I was wondering if this is actually true, because most of the free antiviruses are lacking a lot of features. Should I stop paying for my Norton subscription and get a free program instead?

How do I do this? I would like to retrieve a number from a text file, increment it by one replace the one in the file with the incremented one and save it. I was thinking about it and I thougt lets make a topic Sorry for my english!! When I download A program and Im sure its safe. My antivirus always complains about thats its not safe or something. Like, My GTA sa CD was broken and I wanted to play it so i downloaded an no-cd crack. Everytime I reboot my pc its gone because my virus scanner is removing it. I hate those things so much. and every free crap antivirus has so many ads. I dont care anymore if I get an virus. Im not using my bank account on that pc and all my game save files and school files are saved on a 64 GB usb. I use windows defender (I dont know how its called in windows 8) My friends thinks im stupid but I dont know. What do you think about it????

I am just going to copy and paste what I posted on overclock.net because you guys seem to be a little more knowledgeable and responsive. But the message is pretty much the exact same. To start, my dad lost his leg when he was 17 from a drunk driver. He is 61 now and he can no longer wear the $100,000 fake leg (insurance FTW). So he uses a nice hot rod of a wheelchair to get around and he crawls up and down the steps. It is harder on him to crawl up and down the steps these days. Therefore, he has 3 computers (1 in his room, 1 in the living room, and 1 in the basement) He does financial work and photoshop on the computers. I have a Synology NAS set up on the router and I taught him how to drag files to the cloudstation app, but here's the thing, each file gets numbered because he names them all the same thing and then I have to ask him which one he wants me to overwrite. So basically his files are "HomeFinance1 (1)" "HomeFinance1 (2)" and "HomeFinance2 (1)" and he gets confused as to which ones to use. So I still have to do the work and I just spent nearly $300 on a Diskstation for him that he can't use. Another problem we ran into was that he accidentally overwrote a photoshopped picture of my little niece. The sun was behind her in the photo and he dimmed the sun and edited the lighting. It took him a few hours to do because he is a perfectionist. He saved it in his cloudstation app. He then forgot he saved it and he clicked on the picture on the desktop of his basement computer and overwrote the edited picture accidentally. This sort of crap happens ALL THE TIME with him. He is getting frustrated and so am I. I think there needs to be something that syncs everything between computers. From the desktop icons and backgrounds to "my documents" and auto-syncs the latest one between computers. That way, people who use multiple computers (for example, a computer at work and a computer at home) can have the same set up and the same documents. That could end the confusion as to which document to use. And if anything goes wrong, like if you didn't want to sync a certain file, it creates 5 days worth of backup copies on both computers of everything that it syncs (or however many days or syncs you want). And this idea isn't too complicated to set up I think. The only thing you will be saving is documents, maybe some gamesaves, photos, desktop configurations, and other little filetypes. Or you can pick and choose what to sync between computers. I don't know how to actually perform this idea because I know nothing about programming, but I am sure that there is someone out there who is looking for a good idea to start work on. And I honestly believe there is a market for this because there are many households with multiple computers. Do you guys know of any way to help him with this?

Hello, I need some assistance in what program would be the best to create posters similar to this I need to make something similar to this for a project in school. I only need something basic and doesn't need to be that advanced. Would something like GIMP or some other paint program be best to make this? Thanks! Also needs to be free haha

Hi guys, My company has been using AChat to allow our employees to communicate over the LAN in the office for a while now, but it is very old and has not seen an update in well over a year (or more). We are wanting something that essentially allows us to be administrators to the LAN communication through a UI or something. Obviously, there is stuff like the gaming communication software, but... no. All it needs is simple text chat communication. Other stuff like hyperlinks working, images working, sharing files, etc would be nice, but not necessary at all. Preferably without a Chat server setup, but that would actually be fine, just more work for us to set up. Lastly, I would prefer it to be updated relatively recently or get moderately constant updates. Programs that are dead in the water just make me paranoid about security concerns. Hey guys! I'm looking for a proper program to do serious planning of my future build in. I've been thinking about using SketchUp to model all of my ideas into a case or whatever. But I was woundoring if there's something better / easier or if I should just stick with SketchUp ? I'll be using it for planning at case modding, watercooling and the like.

I am getting an R9 270 in the future that comes with an AMD Never Settle Forever Gold reward, meaning I get 3 free games. hello so i heard about micorosft releasing some bad updates so i didnt update when i got them. recently microsoft has issued some more updates so i installed these. now when i install programs like utorrent and spotify that are located in %appdata% it says "Your system administraor has blocked this program. For more information, contact you system administrator." this is my own personal computer i run anti virus and anti malware scans at least 4 times a week and no problems. i also installed itunes today which is located in program files x86 and this opens and works fine. could it be the recent updates that i have installed from microsoft? any help would be much appriated. any questions please ask. below is a screenshot http://gyazo.com/e3076b36977d58f893c61ee30ffe0102

I didn't find any similar article using the available search functions (including Google). According to Source 2 (again, take that one with a grain of salt just in case since it's FB), it will be out in 2 weeks-ish. I think this is pretty awesome overall. It's something gamers have needed for a while imo. I'm surprised no one else came up with it first. Or that there aren't any other Open Source/Crowd-sourced projects out there that do this. If there are, I've never heard of them. Then again, I've never tried looking. Kinda wish it wasn't Razor, but at the same time, I like the way Razor makes software. I liked Comms (so sue me). Hi! Again I need a translator(s) for the above languages since the translator who did the German and French translations before decided to stop responding (It's for a program I'm making for fun, I will not make any money out of it). So if anyone feels they want to help me out I would appreciate it! It is a one paged document with about 60 words/sentences (mostly words, with a total of about 60 words in the doc including the sentences) which I need translated. It's the only thing I need translated for this program as of this update. No new updates are currently planned. What I'm looking for is someone who can translate a few different words that I would like to get accurately translated to each of the languages (So I'd prefer if you are a native speaker, not a requirement though. As long as you speak it well). The languages are German and French. (So no Google translate please, I can do that myself...) As long as you know one, please contact me, if you want to of course. What it's intended for is a small program that I have been working on that I will hopefully release soon. (As soon as I get the translations added to the program code I can upload my new website to my host.) The reason I'm doing it is for it to be multilingual. But it is a small program that I'm not expecting anyone to use really. It's just a hobby project for personal training. The program will be released for free and I will probably not make any big money out of ads, if anyone ever visits the website at all (Probably not). It's just for my own personal training really but I wanted to do it nicely and I thought that someone here surely could help me with translation! Contact me if you know one or more of the languages and I will send you a link to the G-doc with the words to translate into your language. (Keeping in mind that it is for a program, so i.e. "Door out" in English is not appropriate as "Exit" in a program or something similar. Even though they can mean pretty much the same thing in other cases. (Not exactly, but you get my point.) I would like appropriate terms for a computer program, basically.) But again, to be clear, there will be no payment. I can, if you want to, add some credits in the program and on the website when everything is done that you have helped with the translation.
