Hi guys, Let's say you are a young network administrator. And you have to build a small network for a company that allows them to access shares on a file server, print to specific folders on it, and things of that nature. And you are new to it all, so you do what you can, and set everything up and it all works (mostly). Then one day, as the company grows, things start breaking. People can't write to drives anymore because you were toying with groups in Active Directory and you can't figure out how to fix them back. The file servers (multiple now) won't replicate between each other using Windows Server Replication feature. People can't scan to their folders anymore, and generally, everything is breaking. No one has ever been a domain user on their machines, but only accessed folders and printers/scanners on the domain (i.e. their profiles are local and they basically log in as two different users, the local one for the machine, and the domain one for the folders/shares). If you look at everything, and I mean everything, it appears to be in a constant "test" phase. And people still have to keep working, and they often work 7AM-8PM Mon-Fri (people have varying shifts) and sometimes on Saturdays and Sundays. What do you do to fix things? And I mean really fix them. Not put a bandaid over the issue and rock on like you've always been. Thanks, Vitalius Edit: My natural instinct in this situation is "Reboot". Or the IT Crowd's infamous, "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" Which, for me, means nuke it and start over. Nuke it meaning "Destroy everything". Not the files of course, but the domain itself and begin anew. But that takes time, and the current one is still needed so people can work. I'm kind of at a loss for where to go from here...

So as the title says i have some issues with my r9 290, it crashes, freezes and i have gotten 1 BSOD. And no it's not a driver issues. I just got my card to actually work with the right drivers and that is already fixed (posted about it before) My temps are ok goes above 80 when i play but never over 90 (put the fan speed on 55%) same goes for my cpu doesn't go over 65c. It can happen anytime, no matter what i do, just browsing the web, idle on the desktop, playing games, etc. PC specs. So I built my rig about a year ago and initially just let the Asus 650ti 1GB run at the clock speed it came it, 980mhz. Then about 4 or 5 months ago I decided to try and overclock it. Being lazy, I just turned the voltage all the way up and then the core clock to around 1110mhz and the memory speed up 250mhz and all was fine. But about 2 months ago I noticed if I was playing bioshock with the card overclocked after about half an hour or so my computer would freeze and I'd have to restart it. Now if I try to play anything with anything on the card turned up at all, the whole system will freeze after a minute or two. I have no idea why this would happen and would really appreciate someone's help. Thank you very much! Also, my temps are never really over 60 Celsius so I don't think that's the problem.

Hi I have had many keyboads all of a similar layout and what I would consider to be the "correct" way. This is a UK keyboad layout but I think it effects other countries layouts as well. What I am talking about is the Enter key. For the past few years I have been using the Razer Black Widow Ultimate 2010 which has what i would cosider the correct Enter key style. So a large key. As shown below in this image's i aqired from google But The new keyboad the 2013 version they have changed the enter key. moved this key " | " and some other buttons to annoying places. Please see the image below for the difference So notice the enter key is now smaller. the shift key on the left is larger the " | " key has moved. as well as the @ # ' " This for me is frustrating. The only reason why im looking at keyboads again is because the E key has decided to stop working on my current one. So I would have liked to have just got a new one. But I probably wont now due to this change. (yes i have had it appart, re soldered contacts etc with no luck. The fact that its a multilayer PCB does not help with tracing circits, and there are no diagrams to help ) Does anyone else feal the same way I do about the pointless design change to the keyboad. All i see is problems rather than improvements. Maybe the only thing that might make a difference to some one is that the Shift key is longer and their 2 year old with small hands can now reach the shift key to run! I use the specail charictor keys quite a lot as I do quite a bit of coding so them being in the correct place as well as having a nice large enter key to hit in anger some times is good! Does anyone else feal this way? I would be intrested in what other people think on the matter. Thanks KTFO|SGTmoody

Hey everyone, Yesterday I downloaded the new update - Windows 8.1. After installing it successfully and doing all of the updates both from Microsoft and from Acer (also updated BIOS and Firmware), when I wake up my tablet from sleep mode with on board button, it sometimes says: "Graphics Media Accelerator has Stopped Working." I searched for how to resolved my problem in Google, but rather than answers I found out that a lot of other people were having similar problems, which no one new how to fix. I have already tried: - tried System Restore - updated all drives including BIOS and Firmware with the especially designed ones for Windows 8.1 - updated the whole Windows 8.1 - stopped support for virtual machines - removed tablet from the Homegroup Does anyone know how I could solve my issue? Ideas and suggestions are also appreciated.

hey guys! I've been having an issue with my pc ever since I popped the 8.1 update into my system where my PC would turn on automatically after i turn it off (sometimes instantaneously, sometimes after several minutes...I've consulted the NCIX tech support for tips and they gave me the following to try out: - unplug any unnecessary USB devices - disable startup programs - unplug the network cable - uninstall Gigabyte's "USB ON/OFF Charge" and any other motherboard-related programs So none of these possible fixes worked and they told m to bring my pc to their store to have it checked (they believe it could be a possible motherboard issue). I've also updated my drivers to its newest firmware and made sure that the bios was at the latest. However, I would like to ask this community on any input for any advice, hopefully you guys can solve my problem! Here are my system details if it may be of any use: - Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H - Intel Core i5 3570k - Kingston HyperX Blu 4gb (x2) - Crucial M4 128gb - WD Black, 1tb - GTX 760 - Seasonic m12II 620W Thanks in advance for your help!

hi guys, i have some problems with asus 280x dcu2 since round about the last bf4 patch: -i cant overclock it in any way with msi afterburner or asus gpu tweak without having direct x crashes in games like bf4 and cod bo2 -i have texture problems in bf4 and my browser (chrome). i get fields of pixels that dont belong to where there are additional the problems that i had from the beginning: -in game applications like temperature monitoring and other stuff caused sound loop crashes for the whole pc -programms like cinema 4d or sony vegas didnt run stable and sometimes caused sound loop crashes too. so i came from nvidia and this is my first amd gpu and im really pissed of it because of all the problems im having if anyone can help or wants to pay the backshipment that would be awesome

so i had my Asus GTX 670 directcu ii 2GB for about 1 year now and around 2 months ago i'v been having these weird problems related to my graphics card like when theirs a new driver from Nvidia i install it but after windows 7 says that "Display driver Nvidia Windows Kernel Mode driver, (whatever driver version I have) has stopped responding and has successfully recovered" and after like 1 week of like random black flashes and sometimes freezing when i watch a YouTube video, play a game or even do nothing (idle) it doesn't appear till a new driver release install. As well the graphics card isn't running to its full potential i mostly play BF3 and i got a sold 60+ FPS on ultra 1080p, but since this is happening i cant even play BF3 on ultra and get 60+ FPS now i get like 30 FPS if i'm lucky, so i had to lower the graphics down to high- mid no AA and still get 60+. so i researched around on this and found that this graphics card on some of them perform weirdly on PCI 3.0 so i went in the BIOS and changed the PCI to 2.0 it fixed the problem with the black flashing and the annoying message but still get the same performance in BF3 and other AAA games. does anyone know anything about this? or have the same problem? My friend has a Galaxy S4 and recently it stopped loading the Play Store. My friend told me that she would attempt to launch it only for it to act like it was about launch then just crash. She said she has tried to clear the app cache in the settings but it didn't help. I don't know what could be wrong with it other then maybe she downloaded a bad update. Anyways. She deleted the app and I was wondering if it is possible to re-download it in anyway. Idk why she deleted it but any help would be appreciative. Thanks as always! B) BTW I hope this is in the correct forum category.

I have recently finally picked up Skyrim for the PC. I'm not a gamer than usually plays with mods and haven't really done it before. I checked out Nexus Mods and downloaded the client and the mods I wanted. I downloaded the mods and then double clicked them in the mods menu. Some of the mods I downloaded aren't showing up in the Mod Manager Mod menu but they do show up when I open the folder so they're there. I don't know whats wrong. Thanks for any help.

Hi i am about to send my 3rd corsair k70 back to supplier under warranty due to futility buttons and led lights fails. i have invested a lot in my system and a lot in corsair products(h80i, ax860, vengeance pro 2400 gold, ssd and 650d case) as i have heard they genuinely have high quality products but to have 3 k70 fail so quickly has got me a bit worried about there build quality. The supplier has said they have had a few returned and were happy to help me but now im keyboard-less again for another 2 weeks(1 week to return it then another week for new one to come. Australia standard post is slow) . so not only have i has 3 fail in 3 months with postage iv really only had the keyboards for a month and a half. i am very disappointed with corsair and to make it worse i spent a long time choosing the right keyboard for me and now i have to find a new non corsair keyboard( any ideas are welcome. i like led back light with ability to set light on some keys like wasd to light only make it easy when gaming) anyway i just wanted to vent a but and hope that this will help others when choosing a keyboard as there wasn't any warnings around when i chose it.

A Microphone Problem: EditorsKeys SL300 Driver Problems
ExodusXIII posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hello This is my first time here and i have a very important (and aggrivating) issue. I have recently bought the EditorsKeys SL300 Microphone... However when attempting to install it to my ASUS ROG G75VW-BBK5 laptop it does NOT and i repeat NOT want to coperate. The laptop runs Windows 8 and according to the help center thread here (http://editorskeys.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/68584-are-your-products-compatible-with-windows-8-) The microphone is totally compatable to windows 8. I have tried it on every USB port and i always get a Error Code: 10 every time (once a Error Code: 45 but this went away quickly)... but the strange part is gets different results almost every time i plug it in. All my USB ports are 3.0 I Get: -This device cannot start. (Code 10) The I/O request was canceled. -This device cannot start. (Code 10) {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful. -This device cannot start (Code 10) {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful. The strange thing is that when i plug it in at first it shows that it is okay, then a error at the VERY end. it acts like it installs right but at the end something fouls. Does anyone have a clue as to what i can do? I have attempted the following: -Restarted a few million times -Deleted the installed drivers then reinstalled -Got rid of the drivers, unplugged the microphone, then uninstalled the USB Root Hub drivers, then checked for new hardware -Attempted to update drivers with "USB Audio Device" Drivers Here is what appears on the driver menu for the malfunctioned/defective driver -USB Audio Device (Common) -Kditors (Rare) -EditorKeys SL300 (Only happend twice on driver menu, Extremely Rare) The other 3 have installed just fine, but the last one that controls if windows will detect the device is not present. Thus the device will not appear on the "Recording" Tab. I have tried this on my old laptop (A dell inspiron) with USB 2.0 and Windows 7 Home Premium. The microphone worked on that computer. Does anyone know what i can do? I tried ASIO4ALL like they recommend and it didnt work. Does anyone know what to do? -
Hey guys! I recently upgraded my computer, since things were pretty cheap during the Black Friday sales, and I have noticed my computer is running extremely slow. At first It was insane, everything was buttery smooth, as I expected for the money I payed. After around a week things just stopped. Boot up time went from around 20 seconds to a couple minutes, Games went from 120FPS to 20-30. Even opening up Firefox is slow! I made sure my Ram and CPU were running fine, and they were, Computer also realizes there are 2 graphics cards. It feels like it started after I authenticated my windows 7, but I don't know if that is the reason. Specs: Changed Hardware: 4770-K CPU 8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM z87-A Asus Motherboard Hardware From Old Build: Dual EVGA GTX 670's TX750W Corsair PSU 500GB WD Caviar Black Cooler Master Cosmos S - Modded like crazy Some help would make my day, thanks!

Hey guys! I recently built my first PC and I used the old hard drive from my old pre-built Gateway computer. This was a mistake on my part Here is my build: i5 4570 ASUS H87 PRO MSI GTX 760 ROSEWILL CAPSTONE 550W (non modular) 8GB (2x4GB) of RAM from old PC 2TB Seagate hard drive w/ OEM Windows 7 also from old PC Upon booting up my computer for the first time, I entered the BIOS and made sure all of my parts were recognized. Everything was cool so I exited the BIOS and reset so I could start Windows, but my mouse and keyboard were not working so I am unable to log in. I booted into safe mode and regained control so I tried installing my motherboard drivers from the disc it came with and it said it installed, but nothing changed. I lose control once I start windows normally. After some thinking, I decided I want to switch to W8.1 and keep my hard drive. Am I able to install W8.1 over W7 without logging in (since I am unable to)? I was thinking if it was possible to insert my W8.1 disc into my DVD drive and boot off of that so that it installs over my W7 on my current "old" hard drive. Will the drivers from the previous hardware from the old PC and all of my programs and files I've used with W7 cause any trouble? I have some games and other programs downloaded on that hard drive that I don't necessarily want to download all over again. I also want to point out that I don't have another hard drive to back up my files on, but I don't have anything incredibly important so I wouldn't mind losing it if I have to wipe my drive. It's just mainly school essays and project from about a year and a half ago so I won't be needing them anymore anyways. I just don't want to have to re-download games and such. I have the money to buy a new hard drive and W8.1, but is there any way I could install W8.1 over W7 (please note: I am unable to a enter Windows currently), keep all my files on the hard drive, update the drivers for my new hardware after the install, be able to run all of my previous application and games fine or would it be best to pick up a new hard drive and start with a fresh install of W8.1 and reinstall my applications/games? My fear is the drivers and optimizations for the old PC hardware conflicting with the new hardware. Hopefully I described my situation well enough. If you need more info I will try my best to provide some more details. I apologize if it is painful to read since I don't think I'm entirely sure what I'm talking about. Thanks for the help!

Would a NH-U14S cause any clearance issues with RAM or more importantly a GPU in the top 16x slot? I plan to use a 780 Lightning and was worried the core on the backplate would cause issues. Here's the motherboard layout:

Hi LTT! I am just sitting around here thinking now and then I came up with this idea (surely been thought of before): Can you run your OS/your favorite game straight of your computers RAM if you just got enough of it? And if this is possible: How exactly is this achieved? I have heard something about it being possible with Virtual machines but I don´t know how much hold there is to this... Thanks for answers and it would be awesome if someone had actually done this at some point to show off!

My build is in my signature. I have the GTX 780 FTW and I had thought that there were some issues with it. I can no longer RMA it has been passed 30 days because I thought it was just in my mind. Now that all these newer graphics cards are coming out, I'm rethinking if I'm screwed or not. My 780 performs the EXACT same and sometimes WORSE then my friends gtx 770 sc. I'm starting to go into denial and I'm thinking that newegg sent me regular 780 acx and sent him 770 FTW lol. But on a serious note I would like to know from your guys' opinions if I am fucked or not!

Soo, my ISP (Cox) has 'upgraded' my internet (going from 25/25 to 21/6) and now I can no longer play arma 2 online. I keep getting a signature check timeout that is linked to my networked and I found out that setting up a DMZ host is one way and the easiest one around this problem so I have to set that up once a day or it doesn't work but now I am still getting the problem and I know it is tied into my network. Anyone out there maybe know a way around this? Know something different than a DMZ host as it is not secure. Any help would be appreciated. My router is a netgear cg3000d.
