  1. I just got my prebuilt from Ibuypower, it worked out of the box. Was downloading games and software, when the second monitor went black. The main display flashed green before also turning black. My keyboard lights turned off, and the monitors lost connection to pc. I reseated the RAM and the GPU, and checked the cable connections. Would it just be a bad connection, because it's on and seems to be working. Or would that be a GPU problem? This is the PC I bought https://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Gaming-RDY-SMRVRR204 Thanks in advance.
  2. https://deals.dell.com/en-us/productdetail/a8qp or https://www.ebay.com/itm/304032708760 With gpu prices so ridiculous rn, I rather not build a pc. Which of these is better or is there anything definitively better for my budget?
  3. Budget: 1600USD Overall Use- Light video editing on premiere pro, 1080p gaming mostly valorant, nfs heat, battlefield I'll start off with some background knowledge, I am in med school so a small device that i can used in small areas would be useful and i game at 1080p, 60fps is fine, I only need 144hz on e-sports titles. I used to have an xps 9575 and tried to replace it with a xps 9500 but it was defective and i have returned it and am awaiting a refund. This got me quite fed up and I have been wanting a desktop for quite some time. However due to the chip shortage, building my own is not the best idea so I was currently looking at ABS systems on newegg but it looks like i would have to change the cpu cooler , case and psu if i go that route. I also began to look at building a pc on cyberpowerpc but I am worried about something not working as I do not reside in the states. I planned to supplement this system with a surface pro 7 i5 from ebay to carry to school and just watch Netflix around the house but i have seen some over heating issues. I really dislike bulky gaming laptops hence I had an xps, I was thinking about razer but I see many posts that they break quickly and the warranty is garbage. Would you guys agree that a tablet and desktop is the best option for me or are there any other thin and light laptops capable of gaming that you recommend?
  4. Budget (including currency): $1700 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Streaming using OBS or OBS-like software, games like Minecraft, photo editing, web browsing Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have no existing parts or peripherals other than a mouse that's perfectly suitable for my need. I want a keyboard with good key action (probably mechanical, rgb means nothing to me), and I'd like two monitors (no extreme resolution, 60 hz refresh rate is a-ok). Windows 10 is a must. To reiterate, I'm looking for prebuilt and peripheral recommendations that will help me achieve what's stated above. Very, very sorry if this post breaks any rules or if it's in the wrong place, and thanks to all who take time out of their day to respond!
  5. So I just bought a HP Elitedesk 800 g1, and I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card and power supply. I'm new at this and my budget is $400, I want it to get at least 50 fps on gta 5. I'm not sure what is compatible with it and would fit it, could someone help me find a gpu that would work good with it? https://support.hp.com/ph-en/document/c03808397 Here are the specifications for it. ^^
  6. Ok so really needing help on this one. The school I teach computers at just ordered 5 prebuilt computers from ABS (Newegg company) so I can also teach video production this summer and next school year as the computers we had before this were from 2011. They are all the same 3600, GTX 1660 Super, 16GB Ram. The computers arrived an hour before I leave for the day so I got them upstairs to my classroom and opened one to get it setup and established on our network. I unpack everything, check for loose cables, ensure cards and sticks are all in nice and snug, and turn it on. The fans light up and spin and no display. I press the power button and the machine will not turn off. The light just blinks. so I flick the PSU switch to power everything down and check again. Everything is good. Turn it back on and still nothing. I pull another computer out to check that one and see if I just so happened to open the unlucky one. Do all the same checks and hook it up to a known good monitor and HDMI cable. No video. This one at least the power button works. I am beside myself. I am scared to open the others in case I need to send them all back. I do not have time to do RMAs as our video production camp starts June 7th. I am beside myself right now. I am calling them at 8am PST today to find out what is going on. Edit: Also when my class is over I will upload a video to show what is going on. UPDATE: Checked another one and it popped up with Windows setup and had display. I talked with ABS and they are going to be next day shipping 2 new pcs and giving me 30 days to return the current ones I have. They were awesome for customer service and told me if the others have any issue to just call and they will ship out replacements next day as well. I think they should be in the next Secret Shopper video as this was a terrible thing but hey customer service was at least good.
  7. Budget (including currency): $100 - $200 USD (MAX) Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minor gaming, but mostly game programming and video editing. Other details: I have a prebuilt Acer computer that currently has 1 of 4 RAM slots full. I am noticing my current RAM (2666 MHz, 8GB) is often reaching it's upper capacity and use, as well as some slowdowns. I was interested in getting new RAM but I'm unsure what I should be aware of when adding RAM to a system. CPU: i7-8700 3.20ghz GPU: GTX 1060 6gb
  8. Hey, I have experience building PCs, and I have worked with them for a few years now. I am in need of replacing both of my main workstations/gaming machines. I have had in mind and idea of what I want for each machine and would like to get opinions, ideas, possible part lists, whatever comes to mind. Build 1 (Main Priority, Full Gaming PC) Budget (including currency): $3000 - 5000 US Dollars. Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Play any game 60FPS+ at Min 1440p Video Editing Unity Engine Unreal Engine Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): No existing parts for this new build as this is supposed to be a replacement for a computer 7+ years old. Ideally to buy ASAP Ideal Resolution 1440p Ideal Refresh Rate 60hz + MUST BE SMALL (Constantly moving around the USA in the last few years and relocating to different cities, the idea would be to have a small tower that I can easily put in my car and move from City to City) I have look into the following prebuilt from Origin PC as my base idea of something I would want: https://www.originpc.com/gaming/desktops/chronos-v2/ This built is merely intended for gaming purposes as well as being used for occasionally work on Unity and Unreal engine making video games. It also needs to be capable of smooth video editing. Build 2 (Less Priority) Budget (including currency): $3000 - $5000 US Dollars. Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Play any game 60FPS+ at Min 1440p Unity Engine Unreal Engine Microsoft Visual Studio VS Code Rider (https://www.jetbrains.com/rider/) Streaming Video Games (ideally being able to stream any games without issues) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): From my current build the only piece of hardware that I am planning on keeping is my Game Capture 4k60 Pro from El Gato https://www.elgato.com/en/game-capture-4k60-pro No other existing parts for this new build as this is supposed to be a replacement for a computer 5+ years old. (This computer has been refurbished by me so it has many technical issues and quirks that I would like have addressed with a new build) Ideally to buy ASAP Ideal Resolution 1440p Ideal Refresh Rate 60hz + MUST BE SMALL (Constantly moving around the USA in the last few years and relocating to different cities, the idea would be to have a small tower that I can easily put in my car and move from City to City) HOWEVER, since I am planning on keeping my Game Capture 4k60 I know I can't go with a Origin PC Chronos V2 choice as it does not have enough space to fit this extra PCIe card. https://www.originpc.com/gaming/desktops/chronos-v2/ This built is intended for gaming, video game development, coding, and game streaming, similar to the previous build but it will see more usage on technical stuff. Thanks for reading! :)
  9. Budget (including currency): 1000 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft, Rainbow Six Siege, and CSGO Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): https://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Gaming-RDY-TMRIIRG208 Is this a good deal?
  10. Summary (it seems to be US specific) Some people noticed that DELL had an subscription, might have been talked about since the LTT video on buying a prebuilt and their support. DELL shows that they have been auto OPT-IN people on these subscriptions, and they are so far down the page it might go unnoticed with a cluster of information to confuse the consumer of what you are really getting. In DELL's response to GN they stated: My thoughts When you buy something, it should always be clear of what exactly you are buying. This becoming more and more of an issue in tech or always has been bad. From using only marketing buzzwords rather than the physical capabilities or the components you get. Worst is that some consumer wouldn't think of there being a subscription with your PC, and mostly would focus on warranty? So having it in rather omnions places while having doing just enough legal nonsense to cover it up, to me just sounds shady as ****. Also how we shouldn't allow companies to OPT-IN (unless a good reason for it) us in everything they want to sell us or taking advantage of, either it being for marketing, sharing data etc. Like with phones or operative systems getting their fair share of the same "either you get into our system or you are not getting the full use of your device" no matter if their systems are any good to make certain things function. 11. So, I have been looking for my first proper gaming pc (mainly for gaming but also general use to replace my toaster laptop). The idea of making my own pc is on the table, I even made a thread about it earlier today. After all that, I realized the GPU availbility crisis we have currently would make the card I would like to get way too expensive. Other options on the used maket are avaliable, but no warranty, possible problems due to the age of the cards (i have been looking at 980 ti or 1070 ti) and shipping problems are something I am not willing to risk for the amount of money that I could lose if something goes wrong. This said, I decided to look for a pre-built that could be of use on the meantime and possibly have a good upgrade path later down the line. Enter Skytech. I saw a newegg listing on a very nice looking pre-built for the price (being inside my $750-820 budget). I want to go ryzen, so it is a plus. I also saw this one for $620 . My question here is simple: any thoughts on Skytech? are they good? bad? reliable? Are this prebuilts atleast worth the money or should I wait for 2022 for this crisis to end? What do you guys and gals think?
  12. Hey all sorry if this is a dumb question but I've been trying to find out if this asus rog desktop is upgradable, I don't really like the psu that it has and the cpu cooler is pretty bad apparently. Assuming I did buy the parts needed would there be any problems? Sorry again Link to pc in question: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-rog-gaming-desktop-intel-core-i7-11700f-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-1tb-hdd-512gb-ssd/6455823.p?skuId=6455823
  13. i got some hand me downs from my uncle's office and the PCs are as follows: 1) Lenovo ThinkCentre M58p 2) Dell Optiplex 755 The CPUs are as listed below Lenovo: Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E8400 Dell: Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6750 I'll edit in more specs as i go through the systems and as requested. I have decided that the Lenovo will be my main as i find it easier to work in with the swiveling side-panels and it just looks cleaner as well. The Dell... maybe a Plex server? I do have quite the amount of anime i'd like to stream over my home wifi or maybe a home server/remote pc/HTPC ? or it could just be the family pc i suppose.. I have done some rudimentary cleaning for both PCs and i plan on getting more supplies to clean and repaste the heatsinks. i wanted to ask a few questions regarding upgrades. First is obviously going to be an ssd. Maybe a 240GB Crucial MX500 for the Lenovo and a 120GB Silicon Power A55 for the Dell as a start. The second is the CPU & GPU. The socket for the Lenovo is the LGA775 and the Dell is the PLGA775. I want to know what is the top/best/max CPU i can drop into the same socket without having to do any modding. My searching has pulled up the Q9650 which i've found on ebay for 40USD. Someone in a forum mentioned being able to mod the socket for a Xeon but im not ready for modding so i'll pass but id like to know my options all the same. The GPU is interesting, i need some advice with this one as im not too familiar with GPUs prior to Nvidia's 1000 series and AMD's 5000 series. I will need some advice with this part. My budget for the GPU would be i'd say ~100USD. I'd like to do some gaming at least. if possible id like to know what is the top/max/best GPU i can get before bottlenecking. Naturally i will need to check pricing and availability in my region. other things im going to try include: RAM (i'll probably do 16GBs of the max speed the CPU supports), Networking? (better ethernet, wifi maybe?), One thing im really looking forward to is doing my very first OS install. I'll try Windows 10 first and see how it performs with games, browsing and so on. Then my first ever foray into Linux, i'd probably go for Pop! OS. These are the main upgrades that come to my mind, i plan on doing some other stuff like replacing the disk drive with a USB hub and so on. I'd like to hear your thought as well on any other upgrades i should do.
  14. Looking for a mid-range gaming PC but I'm not yet ready to build it myself. I have been seeing a lot of video saying that big vendor are selling crap in the gaming département. I've been "gaming" on my surface pro for a while now and it's time I step up my game. I'm looking for something that gives space for upgrade in the future. Budget : Between 1000$ and 2000$ (hopefully that's mid-range) Location : Quebec - Canada Gaming : from minesweeper to elder scrolls 6 (yes, still hoping for a release before 2050) Monitor : I think mine is 10 to 15 yo. But I think I'll have another budget for that.

  19. Hello, all. Now, to start, I am very new to pc's. So much so that you can literally drive a false narrative, and I'd run with it. (although I prefer you to not lie to me) :) Anyways, so I made the impulse decision to buy the pc, for a workable price of $800. Here are the specs and big numbers and stuff: Processor: Intel Core i5-11400 6 Core 2.6Ghz "(has onboard gpu hardware coding)"- Seller Motherboard: MSI Z490 Gaming Plus Graphics C: nVidea EVGA Geforce GTX 1070 Mem.: 16GB 3600Mhz RGB DDR4 Ram Hard D (lol): Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB NVMe License: Windows 10 PRO Case: NZXT H510 Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 850W G5 Gold - To note, I will mainly use this pc for work, overwatch, valorant, apex, minecraft, dark souls, roblox (lmfao), and other standard games. The megamind turbo max games that are upcoming will likely be reserved to (old trustie) ps4. I also have an AOC C24G1A 24" Curved Frameless Gaming Monitor, FHD 1920x1080, 1500R, VA, 1ms MPRT, 165Hz (144Hz supported), FreeSync Premium, Height adjustable Black. To end off: I have a few questions: 1: Was this a good deal? 2: What're the downsides, and what can I upgrade it with? 3: Will my monitor support my pc, or vice versa? 4: And what can I expect from this white brick? Yours truly, MoxxeGDH

  25. Hi Everyone, First post here, and just had a question. I’m upgrading an old prebuilt that I got back in like 2014. In preparation of receiving the parts, I’m watching the first person PoV build guide. Linus mentions that standoffs typically come with the case, not the board. My new board is ATX, and the prebuilt was mATX. I don’t have as many standoffs as I do holes in the new board. Nor am I sure if they are the right type? Are there types of standoffs that only work with certain boards? Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you! Old Specs: MB: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 CPU: FX-6100 GPU: Radeon HD 7770 (dead) swapped for RX580 8G PSU: Lepa N500-SA Case: CoolerMaster Elite ATX 430 Elite Mid Tower I’m keeping the case and GPU. New: MB: Asus Tuf X570 Plus Wifi CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 PSU: Not 100% but I think EVGA GQ 850W Memory: 2x16 GB 3200
