Wanna ask about a question about my PSU it suddenly blows like burnt smell and I immediately turned off my PC and unplug everything and check the inside of my PSU and theres no burnt capacitors or bulge or smell like the one I smell at the back of the fan of the PSU and a few hours later i turn on my PC again and it works fine the blow of the PSU at the back smells normal now and the temp of my other hardwares is normal and my PSU is not actually a "RATED" its just a cheapo "GENERIC 700watts" one (still saving up for a better one) anyway my question is whats the problem of the PSU? heres my specs: amd phenom ii x6 1055t gtx 750ti stormx dual 8gb ram 2 HDD

Newbie here first post. I've got no idea if this PSU can power my soon to be rig. PCPartPicker estimated I was fine but thats not factoring in an overclock. Please help me... you might be the only chance I've got  My parts are as follows CPU: Pentium G3258 - I hope to overclock to north of 4ghz at 1.2v (motherboard imposed limit) with the stock cooler. If this is stupid idea someone please tell me now before I burn my house down or worse, destroy my computer Mobo: Gigabyte B85M-DS3H-M RAM: 8GB (Maybe 16GB. In my haste to order I may have added two 2x8gb sets to my cart but it hasn't arrived yet so we will see ) GPU: EVGA GTX 960 SSC ACX2.0 CASE: CoolerMaster N200 PSU: Corsair CS450M Storage: Some old HDDs I have lying around and maybe an SSD Thanks for the help. I've heard great things about the forum, mainly from Linus on TechTips so don't know what its really worth

so, recently I built my first gaming PC you can see that here http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/532082-good-value/ And within that build I bought a rosewill ARC 650W bronze Power supply. After that post i realized i needed a new power supply (seriously check out the comments) Anyways my Pc is using about 600W of power http://outervision.com/b/DRPEPF Finally i was wondering what PSU i should get? preferably low cost (like around or under $70 US)

Hello LTT community, This is my first post. I think I have a final version of my parts-list for my first build. Here it is: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Aprendiz/saved/#view=B3Qkcf I'm thinking about getting my uncle that lives in NY to bring me almost all of the parts when he comes visit me in March. However, I am somewhat reluctant in adding the power supply to that list of goodies since I'm afraid it might not work or end up damaging other components, since in Europe we use 200-240V power inputs instead of 110V like in the US. So the real question is: would a power supply like the Corsair CX650X work in Europe if I used a correct power cable I have here laying around? Best regards from Portugal, Aprendiz PS: any improvements suggestions for the parts-list are appreciated

Thank You so Mush for looking at my post After talking to you people, I have made a few changes. This was the power supply, motherboard, and graphics card. -Graphics card I have changed to an r9 390 because I plan on using this card for a long time. This card has the VRAM. I can also crossfire 2 cards in the future because I can't spend 600 dollars at one time on a graphics card. -Motherboard Needed a cheap non-overclocking motherboard that can handle crossfire. -Power supply Needed a power supply that can give 750w of continuous power. Here is my build CPU Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor $201.98 CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler $24.99 Motherboard ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard $62.98 Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory $46.99 Storage Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $64.00 Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $52.99 Video Card MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB Video Card $313.98 Case Corsair SPEC-03 Red ATX Mid Tower Case $59.99 Power Supply EVGA 850W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply $90.98 Optical Drive Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer $20.98 Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) $102.98 Case Fan Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan $3.99 Cooler Master SickleFlow 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan $3.99 Monitor Asus VX228H 60Hz 21.5" Monitor $139.99 My questions are 1. Should I get a 850w power supply now or get one later. And is the power supply that I have chosen good, or should I spend extra money on the EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2. If I don't need one should I get the Seasonic S12II. 2. Is the motherboard I have chosen good? 3. Should I rely on the R9 390 for long term gaming? Thanks in advance

16/10/2015 Morning: My Pc was running fine. I got some windows updates installed, I didn't check what they were, got them installed after a restart and turned off my PC Afternoon: My PC entered boot loop at POST, it tries to get into the bios by itself but restarts immediately. What I've tried: Disconnected all SATA drives and peripheral devices. (Result: No change) Removed my GPU, connected my HDMI to my MOBO.(Result: No change) Tried a different RAM stick (from my old rig).(Result: No change) Tried to run my old RIG off the PSU I use for this PC, it works fine. Tried my RAM Stick on old RIG, it works fine. Tried to enter Dual Bios by holding the power button until a complete boot cycle and then pressing it again.(Result: MOBO didn't try repairing my main BIOS, no change ) Cleared CMOS by shorting CLR_CMOS and holding power button for 15-20 seconds with PSU removed (My mobo doesn't have jumper, it's just two pins I could find, took care of grounding, Result: no change) I can't find another LGA1150 Mobo to test my CPU (LGA775 and FM2 everywhere ) Made sure my MOBO standoffs are high enough to avoid shorting on pins on the back of my MOBO.(Result: No change) Cleaned Dust (Result: No change) I don't rely on random google search results or stupid forums where I'm told to clean dust properly, or try reinstalling windows or made to jump into the "OBVIOUS Conclusions" saying my components are dead. I am no expert, please advise me.Thanks in advance SYSTEM SPECS: Mobo: Gigabyte Z97M-D3H (rev 1.0) CPU: i7 4790 GPU: ASUS STRIX GTX 970 RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 1866Mhz CL 10 SSD: 120 Gb Samsung 850 EVO PSU: Corsair CX 500 (Non- Modular) HDD: Seagate Black 2 TB, 120 + 80 Gb WD (backup). KEYBOARD: TVS Gold Mechanical MOUSE: Logitech G400s Monitor: LG24MP67 23" IPS panel CASE: Circle CC 830 Mid Tower.

So I have a dell server power supply 750 watts and was wondering if I could replace the 60mm fan with a Noctua 60mm fan the fan currently in it runs at 10,000 Rpm and is very loud. So if I get a Noctua fan that only does 3,000 Rpm am I okay? Will it over heat the PSU?

Hey, I was just wondering how much would my system need in terms of power: i5 4690k windforce r9 280x (i know needs more than nvidia cards) 8gb ram ddr3 1tb hard drive some z97 board I was just wondering between the corsair 430m, seasonic 500W or the corsair rm650, which one of which would be able to power my build. I know that ill need over head room if I ever want to upgrade my system, but as of right now would any of these choices be able to run it. I chose these powersupplies because they are available locally from other people, wanted to buy from others because I live in Canada and prices are a bit different than US prices, didnt want to pay more+shipping+ taxes. I doubt the 430m would make it, really just the seasonic 50$ or rm650 85$.(might be able to lowball)

Corsair RM550x vs EVGA Supernova 550w G2 I cant decide which to pick. Same price of 99€ (in my local store), both have quality components, both are semi passive (G2 up to 25% load while RMx is unknown) and both have custom sleeving available. You might ask "Why even bother both are a great pick" and to your response "yes, you are right but is there ANY difference between them that make 1 slightly, just slightly better?"

Hey guys, just picked up an EVGA SuperNOVA 550 GS power supply to replace my current one. The PSU includes two different cables to power the CPU. One is a 4+4 pin connector and the other splits into two connectors, one is an 8 pin connector, and the other is another 4+4 pin connector. The manual said that the 8 pin / 4+4 pin split connector is meant for powering more than one processor or for overclocking. However, when hooking up the single 4+4 pin connector, I noticed that the shapes do not match exactly (two of the squares on the MB do not match up). It still physically connects though. The shapes on the 8 pin connector match up however. Should I just go with the 4+4 pin connector? Does it matter? I would appreciate any help and maybe a brief explanation of what the differences are between some of these connections. Thank you.

Hello everyone! A few days ago, I was looking around PCPartPicker for the parts that will consist of my new build, until I found an EVGA 550w PSU. I came to this community to ask this question because I heard that it is a very good community that always offers good ideas and feedback. So anyways, how's this power supply in build quality, functionality, and power distribution?

I know there is a forum for power supplies but I also have a couple of other questions. I like old computers, and as part of that I like to tinker with them and see what they are capable of. With that said I have learned from past exp. to not use old ass computers w/ the power supplies you found them in, unless you want to kill it. So I have bought an extra power supply to keep this from happening. But my question is should I worry about the power supply as far as swapping it out from one computer to another. It's a basic Evga 80+ 430w power-supply. The other question is that currently I am working with an old e machine and want to know about the cpu in it, it's an Athlon 64 3400+ @2.2 ghz. What I want to know is this processor considered the contender to the P4 in terms of performance? (The series in general really) I'm just trying to see what I can expect from it(and faster versions of this chip) and I have a pretty good idea of p4's so if it's on that track I can know.
