Today I turned on my pc like I did last night, I didn't even try to mess around with bios settings, everything was un-OC'd and all settings were the same, nothing was updated and nothing was deleted, I booted my pc up, seeing the screen displaying Anti-Surge detected a power surge and it decided to make me go in bios and mess with some stuff, okay I set everything to default, set my fan limits back to "ignore", then it runs on smoothly, after I booted up a game and played for around 5-10 minutes, it suddenly shuts down and reboots again, I thought it was a problem with my GPU, so I turned on Furmark and started a GPU test, the first time screwed it up immediately, after messing with some settings, I managed to run furmark with my GTX 1070 for 5-10 minutes and it was alright, I started browsing for more information about this situation but the pc suddenly shut down after browsing for 5 minutes, I started wondering if it was a timed reboot or something, it has never happened before for the past 2 months after I built my pc, here is my pc build : CPU : Intel i7-6700k MotherBoard : ASUS Maximus VIII Hero GPU : MSI GTX 1070 CPU Cooler : Corsair h100iv2 Power Supply : Corsair RMX750 Gold Full Modular RAM : HyperX Fury DDR4 16GB Memory Storages : 1. I have a Corsair VS550. In my city there's no heavy power surges as far as I know (I may not be politically correct) but I use an UPS of APC ( http://mdcomputers.in/products/desktop-acessories/ups/apc-back-ups-600va-230v-bx600c-in.html ) -Check out the photos below- **Problem**- The UPS uses Indian socket system which don't follow the American plug diagram and different style. I was using a surge protector (a cheap one of with Belkin 200 joules or less ) to plug the PSU power cord for the noted cause. Before I bought an UPS, I used to use the machine directly through the power line and in the meantime, my graphics card started to show malfunctions. So eventually I ended up buying an UPS. Here's the thing, is it bad to use the UPS, connected to a surge protector? APC Says something here- http://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA158852/. Truth to be told, what could I do except doing this? I had no other option going along with the given power cord provided by Corsair and plugging into the surge protector at the time and still now. I was baffled and the same still now. ADVICE!!!! - Corsair Plug type that I got APC UPS Socket. different from the PSU power cord pattern.

hello, My friend recently had both of his 980 TIs short-circuited and both broke.. considering I'm getting a GTX 1070 he said about an anti-power surge? Can anyone recommend one that will work well and isn't too difficult to setup? If you have any names of devices or UK links for purchase that'd be very useful. Thanks a lot for the help in advance, Kiwi

Hi, I've been using my headset plugged along with my mouse, keyboard, a ps3 controller and 2 external hard drives for a while (plugged in an working fine for about a year now). The headset is connected to the keyboard's usb pass through which is connected to usb 3.0 on the back of the motherboard. Today the headset just stopped working and windows notified me of a usb power surge. (I believe this fried the usb pass through on the keyboard (keyboard itself is still working). All the ports still work (tested using a usb), however specifically when i plug in the headset, it gives a power surge warning. Could it be the case that my headset (been using it for about a year now) is faulty? If it helps the power supply I'm using is the Fractal Tesla 800W. Thanks.

I bought my Sapphire R9 280x Toxic Edition and plugged it on my board.. At some point in a few hours of using my rig, I restarted my computer and when I powered back on, i noticed that my keyboard and mouse didn't light up (Cause my keyboard and mouse have backlight on it), and then an error occured saying that there is a problem on my sata port (i forgot what it says but i know the problem is, it didn't detect my sata ports.) I kept restarting my system and at somepoint, the usb and sata port powered back again and my system restores. Someone told me that it is a power surge protection from my motherboard but i don't know if its true. I need some help on whats causing this problem and how am i gonna fix it. I've got a bit of an odd one here so I'll give you a bit of back-story. So maybe 2 years back my brand new pc just straight up explodes right next to me, flames and all. Sad times, all caused by a cheap PSU and a lack of surge protection. Lesson learned. Fast forward a bit, I earned enough money to buy a new mobo, ram, hard drives, ssd and all except for my R9 270x which miraculously survived that power surge. Now finally, here's my problem. Recently my computer has started to just completely freeze out of nowhere, no blue screen, no errors or anything. When rebooted everything launches fine as if nothing ever happened. This isn't even something that happens for any observable reason yet something tells me it has to be the GPU, since it's the only component I have from when everything surged. I've run some stress tests such as Unigine Heaven, and MSI Kombustor but I get no problems. What's going on?

Hey all, My fairly new custom PC (Under 1 YO) has recently ( over the last 2 - 3 days) been shutting down randomly and restarting with a message talking about ASUS Power Surge Protection having shut the system down to stop damage to the PC. ( It happened 3 - 4 times within an hour while playing DisHonored on max settings ). The PC is mainly used for Gaming, Game Creation, YouTube (Watching), and other general things such as Word Documents and Photos. I haven't overclocked anything past what I received it at (GPU Preset to OC Mode). I have already done some research about this and found that it could either be that my PSU is faulty (which I cant test because I don't have one to swap it with) or that ASUS Power Surge Protection is being over sensitive. You can find my full PC specs on my profile. Although ASUS Z97 Pro Gamer MOBO EVGA Supernova NEX 750G (80+ Gold) PSU Any help or opinions are greatly appreciated.

Specs: PSU: Corsair TX650M GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 SC w/ ACX (RMA'd - read more for details) Mobo: P8Z77-V Pro CPU: i5 3570K RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz Storage: Samsung 850 Evo 500GB OS: Windows 10 Pro Recently I got this error after my computer randomly "restarted". I put that in quotations because it wasn't exactly like a regular restart. It powered off randomly while I was watching a YouTube video, then I couldn't turn it back on no matter how many times I pressed the power on or restart buttons. I flipped the switch on the back of my power supply to off, waited a little while, then flipped it back on - and the computer immediately came to life without me touching the power on button. This isn't the only time I've observed behavior like this. Sometimes I'll be doing a stress test where I swear the OC on my CPU is stable and I come back the next morning to find it had restarted (it displays the lock screen and when I login, it's like I'm starting my computer from a powered off state because all my programs are opening). Additionally, I've been having some recent issues with my graphics card, which ended up being so bad that I sent my card in for an RMA. Since then I've received a new one. Issues I had with the previous graphics card included artifacting, crashing in game, and random black screens where the fans on the card would spin up to insanely high RPMs. Since receiving the new card, I have still experienced a couple game crashes in CS GO. I'll be playing it, then the game will just close like someone pressed ALT+F4. There's no "not responding" message or anything like that - which puzzles me. I know I'm going to receive a lot of flak for this, but I do daisy chain two power bars together to power pretty much all the electronics in my house, including my rig. Here's a pic for any of you that are wondering how bad it is. I've been doing this for well over a year now, but I've only started to have issues in the past month. Do you think daisy chaining power bars for my rig is the source of the problem, or would it be a faulty power supply? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've been sitting here scratching my head for the past month trying to figure this out (Sorry for so much text - I wanted to give as many details as possible)

At the start of this year I moved my of build to my university and it was damaged by a power surge. On startup the fans spin up to full speed without slowing, their is no display output and my keyboard, mouse and other Usb devices do not power. I have teststed my power supply in another pc and it seems to be undamaged and the status lights on my motherboard indicate damage to the CPU and Ram. I was wondering what I can do to test my parts to see what I need to replace and if it is worth taking my build to be diagnosed piece wise at a PC repair shop. I live in an older house that doesn't allow you to use certain sockets at the same time. Is it best to plug a computer into the wall socket or into a power surge? If I am going to buy a 750 watt power supply, what is the proper power surge to purchase, that can support my computer and any other components that I may purchase in the future?

Hey So for the second time today, my PC has restarted and said that it restarted for surge protection. Is it just a coincidence that a power surge happened twice? I have a corsair branded power supply if that helps. Any advice? Thanks!

First of all I am writing this on mobile since my of is not functional. Over the past few weeks I have seen weird fluctuations on the vacant space on my ssd going from 34gb to 8gb the next time I boot up. then a couple of days ago it just started crashing and then rebooting I tried turning down my cpu clock and various things but I still did it once in a while. Now everytime it boots into Windows it just dies. I can enter the bios just fine but when I try to boot windows it shuts down after something like 10 seconds. I hope you can help me and if you need anymore info please just say so because this is horrible, I apologize for any typos or bad formatting but again I am on mobile

Yesterday disaster has struck, my computer was on but unused at the time when there was a series of loud pops, the monitor went blank and suddenly there was smoke coming out of the top of my case. I quickly unplugged the computer and took it outside. There I have learned that it wasn't my entire computer on fire, in fact I could not really spot the problem. I was searching for dead, blown capacitors but i couldn't find any. Only after some searching I have found the source of the smoke, and the smell. There were signs of damage around the cpu socket, the cpu cooler my H220 was also destroyed. The place on the pump block where the wires hook up to it, the pump has "exploded". The wires were bare and the outside with their rubber coating melted away. The unit has also seemed to have spat out an amount of fused together metal and melted plastic, coating and sticking to my ram, as well as coating the area between the cpu socket and the ram with fine metal filings, powder. I have contacted swiftech because I thought that the H220 pump was the one that caused the problem was my cpu cooler, however after further investigation and some emails back and fort, I was told that there is no way the pump would have "spat' out all of that metal. They suggested it is the capacitor that blew. With their help I have found that my motherboard has some damages too, (I guess) and I was told to turn to corsair to get my system replaced. I was toldt it seems like a cascading power surge has fried all components inside. i don't know what would still function, and I am unable to test all of my other parts individually, and I don't want to risk damaging my other PC. What are your opinions on the matter? is it really a pwoer surge that would cause thses issues? Does that capacitor look blown to you guys? How would I go about, is it safe to test the parts from this system in another one?

Hey guys i have been getting power surges on and off for like 2 months now i have never had a problem before this , the pc will just randomly shut down and restart sometimes it just sits in a restart cycle until i urn the power off . i have monitored temps on evrything nothing overheats sometimes i can go a week playing a game with gpus and cpu both overclocked and no problems , other times i will be browsing facebook and it shuts off so i think this rules out needing a higher rated psu , i have contacted corsair and they have agreed to replace the psu but this morning i was rewiring the whole comnputer looking for any problems and i found one , the red cable on the power connector for my LED fdan controller is loose if i pull it gently a certain way the fan controller does not work this has not shorterd my pc and hasn't tripped asus anti surge as of yet but my quiestion is this , is it possible that this is my problem and not my psu ????? My specs are Asus Maximus Hero VII Asus GTX 980 x2 (oc) Corsair 860 ATX Intel 4790 k ( oc to 4.7 ) 16GB corsair 2133mhz RAM Samsumg 850 evo 1TB WB 2 TB Blue Windows 7 Home

Hey guys recently, my computer suddenly reboots whenever I play any graphics intesive games, it would just suddenly restart and show a message saying that the asus 'anti-surge' kicked in. I looked around online and found that the mobo might be too sensitive, so i disabled that but it just reboots whenevern I do any gaming. I am 90% sure it is the PSU, but some others suggested that it could be a fault in the motherboard. It only reboots during gaming, at idle it runs fine, I recently decided to do a stress test on both the GPU and CPU at the same time to check and it just reboots as soon as it starts. I'm thinking it is the PSU but yea just wanted to see if you guys could offer any advice on what might be causing this. My specs are: Intel Pentium G3258 oc to 4.7Ghz (1.350v to vcore) Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo cpu fan cooler Asus z97-A motherboard Powercolor PCS+ r9 290 Coolermaster V750 750w PSU Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas! lol...

I just got sleeping dogs yesterday and tried to play it today. Every time I get about 5 minutes into the game my PC will shut off abruptly and when it restarts it has an error message that says my motherboard (Asus P8Z77-V LK) detected a power surge. It then sends me into the bios. This happens consistently every single time I play it, but it does not seem to happen in any other game (I tested FarCry3 and TombRaider). I verified integrity of game cache but it said it was fine. Please help! Specs (if useful) Asus P8Z77-V LK Intel i3-3220 Corsair Vengeance 2 x 4GB 1600MHz XFX Double D 7850 1GB Corsair CX750M

so i was just on chrome when suddenly my pc turned off. it turned it self back on then i got this: http://imgur.com/EnAAinv. should i be worried? it says asus anti-surge protected my hardware but still. though i really do wonder what caused it. i wasn't doing anything intensive either although had just finished playing games like 5-10mins before but this is the first time i have ever had this error.my pc still like brand new only like 2 months old so its not like it wore out or something. my power supply has more than enough power as well and is platinum efficient so you'd think i wouldn't be getting these errors. please let me know if you need any other info and my specs are in my sig. any help or advice is very much appreciated.

Ok, so I just picked up a UPS for $5 at a garage sale in my area. The thing looks in good condition and what not, all that it needs is a replacement battery. So the replacement battery for this is lead acid, and my question is, can the current charging circuit handle it if I get a lithium ion battery? Please move this thread if it isn't in the correct sub forum, I wasn't sure where to post it.

Okay so i convinced my friend that a PC would be better then a "next gen console" so after about a week of shipping everything was ready. I went to his house and built it, it took 10hours total (cable managing and ran into some windows problems and yea) so after i got building it i loaded skyrim and maxed it out and he was super interest with the level of detail that games on the PC had, but anyway i put a lot of work into it and then the next morning i left his house got home and got a phone call. His local area had a HUGE power surge and the only thing in his house that was damaged was his new computer. So im going over there tomorrow to try to see if just the power supply was fried or the whole thing but if all of it is lost then what should i tell him to do. I don't think newegg covers surge damage in there 30day thing so is he just going to be down ~$550?. We are both 15 Parts list (that i can remember) AMD FX-6300 GTX 750ti 8-gb of some ram i think it was 1600mhz 1tb wester blue SAN disk SSD 128GB Asus motherboard i cant remeber what it was EVGA 600B PSU thanks for any advice
