So I have an HP Z800 in storage, an absolute banger of a PC, and there's a slight common issue with it, relating to the power supply, basically all it's power allows is a beep, and a blink, then it goes off. I'm looking to replace it with a normal PSU, and I've done some minimal research in the area of PSUs and so far from what I can see, all I'll need to adapt a normal PSU to it would be a passive adapter such as this: HP Z800 ADAPTER. However, I'd just like to confirm if this is a good idea, and whether I am digging myself into a bigger hole of issues or not. I've seen a few tutorials (mainly on this forum) for adapting another HP model psu to fit into the case of the Z800, but I'd prefer not to do those as I don't have much experience or knowledge of such complicated a subject Thanks in advance and sorry for the simple yet annoying question! I have a Reebok GB40s Exercise bike that I haven't used in a while. - See the required power supply as per the label on the machine below. Caption: Input area for Reebok GB40s Exercise Bike I have found a power adapter that fits the exercise machine, but I can't remember if it is the adapter that goes with the machine. Would it work with the exercise bike and would you say it is safe to use? Caption: Plug 1 If not, I have seen these other 2 adapters online that are supposed to work with for the same machine that I can buy and have specifically mentioned my model number in the listing. Which one would be the best/safest to buy based on the power stats on the plug? (they cost the same roughly). Got a new mobo, a ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING II and there is an unlabeled header on it. Not even the manual tells me what the f it is. So if anyone knows what it is, lemme know.

Hi can you please help me out by identifying the name type for the ARGB header on my GPU - see attached image with circled connector. I thought it was a VDG connector but I’m wrong. It is four pins wide with the third pin missing. The pins are fine like VDG, so a 5V ARGB female connector doesn’t fit — it’s too chunky to fit past the backplate. What I’m looking for is an extension cable so I can cable manage the lead running from the GPU RGB header to the ARGB header on my ASUS Strix motherboard. The cable supplied with my GPU is too short by miles. Thanks for the help.

This might be a stupid question but I just want to be sure. Here in Asia the standard outlets are 220V or something and today I moved to a new apartment and the outlets say/marked as 16A 250V. That's a difference of 30V and I don't know what 16A is. I just want to ask if it is safe to plug my Desktop PC in this outlet?

HELP! Where in the UPS do I plug in my computer? Hi guys! I have a computer that has an 850watt power supply, and so I bought the CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS System which is rated for 1500VA/1000watts. Where in the UPS should I be plugging in the outlet-end of my PSU into the UPS??? And did I do the math correctly for the PSU that I'd need for my computer? Ideally in a power outage it gives me 10 minutes to do a complete shutdown of my computer, I'm just also afraid that plugging the computer into the UPS 24/7 may overload the UPS but I assume I have more capability of the UPS in watts then the max my PSU can demand, correct?

Hello, I'm going to be building my very first pc soon and I need a little help with cables. Although I've seen many tutorials and stuff and I'm pretty sure with most of the things, theres one thing I'm missing. Even after some googling I haven't seen anybody talking about if it's possible to plug cables both sides. I mean like 24 pin, fan cables, SATA, 4 pin etc. and if I'm gonna plug these in wrong orientation, will I damage something? I may be just dump and this is straightforward, but please guys be gentle. Also sorry for my grammar if a I've made some mistakes... Thank you

I just don't want to damage them. Both have USB C connectors. I live as a tennant in a shared house. My room is the furthest away from the router, and my Wifi signal is not that good, especially when my housemates use Wifi as well. I am looking into the possiblity of buying a pair of powerline ethernet adaptors. The problem is one of my house mates is already using a pair so that she can connect her PC. One of her adaptors is plugged into the router in the living room. If I were to buy one adaptor, plug it into my room and connect it to her adaptor in the living room, would that slow down the connection to her room? If the answer is yes, would it be a problem if I plugged one of my adaptors in an extension cord in the living room? There are only two wall sockets next to the router, one is used by her adaptor and the other by extension cord, which is where the TV, router and TV box are plugged in. Otherwise, I would have to run an ethernet cable across the living room to another socket, which is not ideal.

This is a repost from Prebuilts and Laptops, I thought it would be more appropriate here and I have an update. I have a lenovo Y700 laptop and I started having problems with my power jack earlier this week. At first I thought it was because the jack wasn't staying mounted in the case, however when I glued it down the problem persisted. I then thought there was glue inside it, there was, but after I got it all out, the problem remained. If I moved the plug, pulling it to one side or the other for instance, the computer would receive power intermittently (the plug inside the jack, moving the cord did nothing). I ordered a replacement part on amazon. At first I was delighted that the cheap repair appeared to work but this part too seems to cut out on average probably once per hour at which point it would require (much less drastic) me moving it around inside/the jack (what little mobility that is) again. But it usually stays longer this way (though some movemets only hold a little while) I pulled out a DMM today to do continuity testing on both jacks (both while they were unplugged from the mobo and plugged into the mobo while the computer was off), they appear slightly different but they both make sense and have recognizable patterns. I did a little bit of testing while the computer was on and got similar results as the extensive testing with the computer off/the jacks unplugged from the mobo, however I was not able to reproduce the conditions that lead to a bad power connection and was unable to mesure what was happening. I noticed the new part doesnt seem to fit as nicely on the prongs on the mobo as the one that came with the computer, the leads inside the plastic connector seemed to jiggle around, I am wondering if this has something to do with it it (though they are still making contact) or the fact that it appears to be wired slightly differently than the one that was already in there. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? Bad cap on the mobo? Need a more quality part? etc. UPDATE: Last night I brought the computer over another house and for some reason it didnt want to charge almost at all there, it would be really finicky with how it sat inside the jack or whatever the problem is, and I would only get a few minutes of charging at most. Once when it was unplugged and still has 20+ minutes of battery left (no warning sign on the battery symbol) it just shut off in my face and didnt seem overheated. Thanks! - TFB

So I'm planning on getting a watercooler for my CPU (Id-cooling Frostflow 240+ specifically), and I've been watching some videos of people installing those, and I've noticed they plug the pump to a so called AIO_PUMP connector on their motherboards. I've never seen a connector like that on my MB (Asus M5A97 LE R2.0). Also, they connect the radiator fans to CPU_FAN, but I only have one CPU_FAN for two fans, so I guess I'll have to get a splitter for that, but where do I plug the pump then? Thanks for your time!

So a while back I had a great Sony soundbar. Unfortunately it bit the dust due to a common software brick and the price to repair it isn't worth it. It's entirely software related, so I really would like to utilize the speakers themselves in some way. To do so, I figured I'd convert the wireless subwoofer into something more versatile for a future home theater setup. It's fully enclosed and sealed off, but I had a quick question. Coming out of the enclosure are these 3 cables. The largest is a 2 wire (most likely power delivery) plug header, the smaller is a 3 wire/pin connector, and the last is a ground. I'm wondering if anyone can confirm what types of cables these are, I'm imagining they're proprietary, but I figured I'd go ahead and ask. Last resort I will probably bust the enclosure open to check the speaker's terminals, then build a new one. I would much rather prefer to keep the current enclosure if any wire splicing or adapters are available. Thanks for any info, I'm a pretty big noob when it comes to speakers. I've only really done car audio and a simple 5.1 setup at my parents.

hello guys , I am running h105 Corsair , on my motherboard z77a-g43 , found some posts about where to plug the Pump and Fans, but could not figure it out , which is the best scenario in my case to plug pump etc? I tried to plug fans in systemfans and it does ok, and i plugged the pump in CPU fan , was not making so much noise, when i plugged the Fans in CPU Fan it started to make noise and I connected the pump into the SystemFan. which is the best way to run those?

So I have a drawer unit next to a plug socket and on one of the plugs is a oneplus brick. But when the draw comes out it hits the brick. So what I am asking is there anything that lets me plug it into the socket and then plug the oneplus brick from the top instead of normally. Thanks!

Here's the issue: whether the laptop has a battery in (that doesn't charge, stuck at 0) or is just with the plug, it has very very low performance, it's just super slow. In task manager, it shows that the CPU (an i7) and HDD aren't doing much, always in a low %. Before it was a very fast laptop, it probably cost over a thousand euro, and it's about 2 years old. For quite a while, the battery only charged at some moments, like one time out of two. Then it didn't charge at all, and now it's stuck at 0 and can't be charged at all (the perso who used it wasn't very careful, I wish he hadn't let the battery go all the way down). The performance problem started to happen when the battery was low, but now it also happens when the PC is plugged with no battery. Another thing is that the plug isn't original. I know the issue has to do with power, it happens on both windows and Linux, and the componants are very good. I've tried updating the BIOS to different versions, didn't change a thing. I also checked the temperature, pretty low, in the 40's, 50's degrees. So what could be the problem ? Would it work again with a new battery? A new plug? Does the fact that the battery fucked up over time somehow endamaged a component in the PC, and that can't really be fixed? -
Hi, yes i did not misspell my question. I just wanted to know if it was possible to run of the wall and not use the battery of the macbook pro 2016. I can do that with the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming(Dell power manager) so i don't use my battery charge for no reason. Or charge for no reason. Is there any options to not charge the macbook while it's plugged into the wall? Thank you all for your time! -
Hi, I've got an ASUS MAXIMUS VIII GENE mATX Motherboard and a PCIE Expansion Card (its a Lenovo BA7E78 PCIe Adapter). The strange thing is that the expansion card has an 11-pin USB connector to connect to the mobo. But the Motherboard has only 2 internal USB connectors, which are both 9 pin. How am I supposed to connect the 11pin-Plug into a 9 pin connector? Thanks in advance!

Hi The power plugs on fans can be easily replaced, say you want to go from a 3 pin to a 2 pin plug. I did this when replacing a fan in a power supply with a 2 pin "outlet" (and no spare space for a 3 pin plug). I have added an example image below, note the holes marked in red! The power plugs have holes on the "vertical side" where you can push in the metal pin and pull out the individual cords. This will allow you to exchange the plastic ends to go between say a 3 pin and 2 pin plug. Just my 2 cents!
