Hey all, Bought a new Corsair H100i RGB Platinum AIO cooler on Amazon the other day and installed it today. Was having a few problems with high very fan speed but managed to rectify it. Read the log of events below if you're interested or encountering similar problems. Plugged it in as per instruction manual. Both fans' power and RGB into the splitters coming out of the Pump, and the USB going to a USB header on the motherboard. Turned on the PC, all was fine until desktop, when both fans ramped right up to 100% and wouldn't go down. In Ryzen Master, CPU was chilly at about 22 degrees. Opened Corsair's iCUE software (I also have a Strafe Keyboard and Void Headset) and on all of the fan control settings, even quiet, it was super noisy, and the RGB was just not sticking to the setting I wanted either. WILD GOOSE CHASE TIME (DO NOT FOLLOW THESE STEPS) Found out by unplugging individual fans from the splitter that the one marked '1' was by far the highest RPM, so got a splitter out and tried to run both off of the non marked plug. Things were okay but not quiet at all, maybe at 1600RPM instead of the 2000+RPM i had from Plug '1'. Messed around for ages with fan curves trying to get it as silent as possible, but it still sounded like a vacuum cleaner even at the quietest I got it. Plugged in the both fans into 1 and unmarked again as per instructions and messed around with the ASUS QFan control in the UEFI. Didn't solve anything. At this point I was so upset with it and thought about sending it back and putting my old CoolerMaster pump-noise-a-tronic 3000 back on. At my wits end, disabled iCUE from Startup Programs. Restarted my PC and it was running really quiet, started iCUE and boom it comes in 100% again. Problem is with iCUE then. Went back into iCUE and was looking through the settings for ages trying to set pump to Extreme, but fans to minimum RPM to try and offset the noise. Tried reinstalling iCUE, and still nothing. And so, the final thing I could think of trying.... THE FIX (DO FOLLOW THIS STEP!): Checked the Firmware in Settings in iCUE. iCUE told me that the firmware was up to date. Then spotted that I could force a firmware update, what is there to lose right? Everything was fixed, just like that. Fans are now running on 500RPM or lower 90% of the time and cooling performance is great. So basically, even if it tells you the firmware is up to date, never trust it and update it yourself. TLDR: Update your firmware in iCUE if you have problems with fans running 100% Thanks for reading Rhys

Planning a new build, experiment a bit with looks and put to use parts just lying around. Here it is. Question is, when looking at PSU's, I've got 2 choices. Either a gold PSU around 700W or these platinum ones 550-560W. Which ones should I go for? I'm not planning on upgrading this PC. Set it how it is and I'll forever have a spare PC until a part dies. PCPartPicker predicts a peak usage of 544W but I wonder what would be the average idle usage. Still, peak is 544W which is just short of the platinum rated ones. So it's just a matter of long term electricity costs. What would cost less by being more efficient? A Platinum PSU or a gold PSU sitting at lower usage. I can't seem to find efficiency curves anywhere apart from Seasonic's website. Have I set my expectations right? When both at the same price, I should just go for the platinum PSU which in the longterm should save a bit of money thanks to it efficiency especially at 60%~ idle load where peak efficiency is, at the cost of future upgradability, which I don't need so it's not a downside.

Today, I found these 2 displays of Corsair's DDR3 Dominator Plantinum 3000 MHz (I think 4GB each) memory and I was thinking of selling one but I don't know the value. I looked online but couldn't fine any of these on display. They both have small scratches and text is a little faded.

Corsair just announced 2 new products! The K95 Platinum and the Scimitar Pro. The two new devices both have hardware playback for the first time! The hardware playback is limited in certain ways. Not all of the actions and lighting effects supported by CUE 2 will be able to run off of hardware playback. The scimitar got a DPI boost, to 16K, with a new tunable sensor. So that's good news if you liked tuning your mice. Before the Scimitar Pro this feature was only available in the M65 Pro. Oh and it does come in black this time right off the bat. Thank god for black! One small gripe they got rid of one of the DPI switches and rebound it to switch profiles... Not the best idea, flipping through 4 DPI settings just to lower your DPI by one level is frankly a tad annoying. The scimitar doesn't look any different from the non pro version, but damn the K95 platinum has has a partial make over and it's looking sexy. The K95 Platinum will come in the black finish shown here or gun metal gray. And starts at 200 USD with your choice of browns or speeds. Sadly there are no reds... boooooo. One more thing to note. The media keys, and 3 keys at the top left are not as bright as the rest of the keyboard. This is based off my observation of a sample that was given to me by Corsair. So hopefully this is fixed in the final release. I've used both devices for a week now and while I didn't find a use for the hardware playback on the mouse, I did enjoy having my macros on my K95 as I moved from place to place. It could use more macro options like all of the ones CUE provides on a software level but this is a good start considering no one else is doing anything like this. Here's a video of my K95 Platinum in action. https://www.techpowerup.com/229315/corsair-reveals-k95-rgb-platinum-keyboard http://www.corsair.com/en/landing/k95rgbplatinum

Hey guys, I'm gonna buy a new PSU soon, which one do you think I should buy ? I know Seasonic PSU's are really good, especially that one, but I don't know anything about Bitfenix PSU's even though in these 2 threads (below) they're both in the High End tier. The thing is, is 650W enough even for the future, or should I get some more headroom and go with the 750W unit since it's just as good as the seasonic one. My Rig : Ryzen 5 3600 RX 5700XT / RTX 2080 (still trying to decide) Since I want to use it for a lot of years, I'll probably throw more powerful components at it Thanks for your help

I have built a PC with a Threadripper 1950X and 128GB of Corsair Dominator Platinum 3000MHz DDR4 However, when installing all 8 sticks, the system will not post. Installing 4-6 Sticks of DDR4 will work, but will sometimes cause issues Is there potentially a compatibility issue with the RAM and CPU? TIA

Corsair Dominator Platinum - Warnings
flaviu.vlaicu posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello, Could anyone pleased enlighten me with a more specific information regarding this? Is this a warning or an actual error? Attached are pictures with model of ram and the warning. Will this cause any issues? RAM is running with XMP setting at the specified specs Regards, Flaviu -
in a TRAGIC water-cooling accident, i lost 1 of my 4 Corsair Dominator Platinum 16Gb Sticks with a speed of 3000mHz in cas 15-17-17-35. i found an ebay listing one 16Gb stick of 3333mHz in cas 16-18-18-36. i know they run at the same voltage, so would i be able to underclock the ram to match the speed and line it up in the proper cas configuration or is it not possible to adjust cas timings (not super familiar with overclocking yet) mine: https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-DOMINATOR-PLATINUM-3000MHz-Desktop/dp/B01G5I6HO8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1530938356&sr=8-1&keywords=corsair+dominator+platinum+ddr4+64Gb+3000MHz ebay listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/CORSAIR-Dominator-Platinum-16-GB-1x16GB-DDR4-3333-CMD64GX4M4B3333C16/263752447269?epid=1873194072&hash=item3d68def525:g:YxwAAOSwydpbDgyd

Hey Everyone. I have 2 x Intel Xeon Platinum 8180 CPU's coming in from Intel for a customer order, However, the waterblocks that I originally found (https://www.ebay.com/p/High-Flow-LGA-3647-Waterblock-Intel-Skylake-ep-ex-Purley-Socket-P-Xeon-PLTNM/9006705603) are no longer available. In a recent video "Scammed on ebay... Testing the 56 CORE system", I believe Linus mentioned that these CPU's have a Square ILM and not a Narrow ILM. With that in mind, I now have to find a waterblock that will work as the computer is for a customer and needs to go out in the next month. Would the EK-Annihilator EX/EP Work with this (it is a Narrow ILM, I know) but I have to make absolute sure as it might be the solution I need https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-annihilator-ex-ep Or does anyone have any recommendations as to which Waterblocks to use for this Socket? Thanks

I'm looking for a 750W power supply for my next build that I'm trying to get it as quiet as possible. Does anybody have any recommendations as to a good PSU with a silent idle mode? Preferably 80+ Gold or better. Thank you in advance for all help.

Currently building a no compromise black and white system, and need some opinions. I have always been heart set on Corsair Dominator Platinum since I was saving up money for this build many years ago. But..... with the arrival of the brushed black aluminum with white accents of Gskill Trident Z I am now torn. I would probably get 2x16 gig sticks around 3200mhz~ to start with eventually filling to 128gigs total. I am more so split on asthetics than performance. It also looks like the Gskill ram comes with lifetime warranty as well.

PSU model : ss-1200XP3 , Seasonic Platinum. Graphics card : gtx 980 20th anniversary edition , ( OC #1555mhz core , 8059 memory , but boots with factory clocks ) Processor : i7-6700k #4.6ghz , ~1.3 voltage Mobo: Asus Hero VIII RAM: 4x8gb ddr4 2666mhz Kingston hyper X fury Black Others : Couple of decently powerful fans , nh-d15 cpu cooler , m.2 ssd (950 samsung ) , 2TB hdd , 2x lightning kit from nzxt Description of problem : After installing this PSU ( older one was a 750W corsair cx , bronze rated , been hearing it is one of the worst psu's available ) , the pc randomly accepts boot. Not "randomly starting" , but it sometimes does boot when i press the power button , sometimes it does not. 95% of times when i go to sleep and shut down the pc , the next morning it is not booting. A temporary fix i've found for it to boot is to turn off the power supply from the I/O button , wait 60 secs , turn it back on , press the power button on the case. Sometimes this works the first time , but when i'm not lucky i have to do this process up to 4-5 times . My rather trusty friend to which i've turned all these years when i had a weird problem is dumb-founded. So , any advice or idea about which might be the problem ? To note : Pc is completely stable. The new psu allowed me to overclock my gpu much higher than before without stability issues ( although it is not that silent ). Since i've gotten it ( roughly 1 week ) I only had a single crash , that being a nvidia driver crash-recover . Everything works as intended.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817103083 I was curious if anybody was familiar with this particular Sparkle power supply (I believe it's a re-branded FSP from the model number, which leads me to believe it's safe). I don't see any pro reviews of it. It's Platinum rated and is currenly only $50 after a discount. Would this be equal in terms of reliability and efficiency to a low wattage Seasonic G series PSU?
