What is the best phone brand in your opinion?
-
Now, im not saying that just because my phone is full and i have millions of photos. Nah. My phone (when i bought it) had 16 gigs' of storage, but now, when i connect it to the computer, it only shows that 10.8 gigs are available. Are my memory chips dying? I mean yeah, i know that happens after a bunch of writes, and Im planning to buy a new phone, but im just wondering (because im curious about tech) why's that? Am i right?? Thanks!

I'm looking to replace my Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, after some research these 2 (Redmi Note 10 Pro 128/6GB and Samsung A52 128/6GB) seem like the best choice for my budget. The price difference is around 50 euros (the A52 being more expensive) and both seem to be great phones overall, but each having it's pluses over the other. My pros and cons of the phones: Note 10 Pro: Pros: - Bigger battery (5020mah vs 4500mah) - Bigger camera sensor (108mpx vs 64mpx and better more realistic color tones than A52) - *Top placed 3.5mm jack (vs bottom) - Maybe the side/button fingerprint scanner (vs the under screen one, but A2 Lite has it on the rear so haven't used the other - one thing I got from tests is it unlocks faster than A52) - Dual SIM plus dedicated SD card slot (I use the SD card slot and having an open second SIM slot is nice, but not a deal breaker alone) - IR blaster - *Supposedly better display (both are Super AMOLED and besides 120hz on Note 10 Pro vs 90hz on A52 I've heard/read that Note 10 Pro's screen looks better and is also brighter (max 1200nits vs max 800nits on paper but also from real usage by the reviews)) - Slightly faster CPU? In comparison tests it doesn't seem to be any difference or slight at best - *Supposedly better quality and also louder speakers? - 33W fast charger - *Cheaper! Cons: - *Unstable MIUI? There's always some negative experiences for everything but I've noticed a lot of complaints on MIUI especially around 12.5 and 13 (I'm on Android One so I never used MIUI) - *Less update support on Xiaomi in general compared to Samsung, the Note 10 Pro being last years model it says on Xiaomi's site that it'll get updates until 2024. or about up to Android 13 and MIUI 14 - *No OIS - Slightly bigger than A52 (not a huge difference but still - not a deal breaker) A52: Pros: - *Better camera software and OIS (most tests show the A52 making just slightly better pictures and videos with better stabilized videos and photos especially noticeable in night photos and recording, only downside are cooler almost blue-ish tones compared to Note 10 Pro's more realistic tones) - *Cleaner and more stable OS? (No adds or other bloatware like MIUI, but I don't know how much or if it's even a problem on MIUI) - IP67 rating (vs IP53 on Note 10 Pro, probably not the most important but still nice) - *Longer update support (it says the A52 should get updates to Android 14 and a year of security updates after that) - Smaller than Note 10 Pro Cons: - *Smaller battery - Slower fingerprint sensor - *Bottom placed 3.5mm jack - No dedicated SD card slot (probably not a deal breaker now, but it's nice to have) - *More expensive - 25W charger (I also read that the 25W charger doesn't come with the A52, is that true?) What are your opinions or experience with either of these phones? And I decided to go with last year's models due to this year's models we downgraded (Note 11 Pro having heating problems, weaker CPU and no 4K recording on the stock camera app all with a higher price and the A53 reviews are negative on the CPU but they also removed the 3.5mm on it so that's a deal breaker) and the almost 3rd option would be the A52S 5G but it's another 50 euros up from A52 which is going quite far from my planned budget and I'm not sure if a faster CPU and 120hz is worth it (mobile gaming isn't relevant for me, anything I'd play makes no difference on any of these 3). Thanks in advance!

I'm prototyping a smart dashcam that uses a phone motherboard. Would thermal paste/adhesive or a thermal pad be better solution considering the inadequate mounting pressure. It'll only be in a 3d printed case that holds the heatsink to the logic board.

These are the must haves: 3.5mm Audio Jack ( From an audiophile perspective, it's insane not to at least have one) Goodish Internal DAC/amp 64/128GB Internal storage. These are the nice to haves: 5G/Latest Bluetooth spec Super fast CPU/RAM Good Speakers Any prior experience and stories regarding phones not to choose are highly appreciated.

Right now, I'm in the middle of choosing my new phone. I was going to buy Asus Zenfone 8, but then I noticed that this phone has less than a year of updates left. How important are software updates now? I know they were a pretty big deal before because Android had more changes between earlier versions, but how is it now? Are they that important? Should it impact my choice of a new phone?

So, Xiaomi and Oppo have recently shown a selfie camera under the screen at the too Do you guys know of any selfie cameras which lie under the screen closer to the middle because this seems like a really good idea. My idea is that the camera would lie about 1/3 of the way from the top of the screen instead of the top like in all phones. It would be essentially underneath the middle of the screen. This would benefit the user because 1) when taking selfies the camera would be close to the person's eyes meaning they would therefore be looking into the camera in a more natural position as they would be looking them selves in the eye 2) No notch 3) Video calling somone would make eye contact easier as you could actually look at someone and therefore be looking directly into the camera 4) The sensor could be much larger as there is no bezel or notch to try to reduce the size of allowing the selfie camera to be as good as the other camera on a phone. I dunno What do you think, please let me know.

Does the screen recorder app on OxygenOs allow for annotations during recording? i.e does it have a brush?

(This is my first post. If I make any mistake, please let me know. Thanks.) ————————————_ I watched this TechQuickie video: At 03m:45s, Linus says: I am making this poll to find out whether this is true. I already made a poll on this Apple criticism forum, where 100% of the votes voted for replaceable batteries. And I would not even bother much if there was still the option to get a decent phone (i.e. 2160p@60fps video recording, >20W fast charging) in combination to replaceable batteries. Sadly, manufacturers have succumbed to Apple's design trend. (And the Galaxy Xcover Pro only has pathetic 1080p@30fps video recording, which even the S2 from 2011 has. At least, it has decent 15 Watts of fast charging.) My opinion I wrote this essay about why I consider non-user-replaceable batteries as a terrible design trend. In a nutshell: Like many people, I personally care much more about being able to simply replace the shortest-lifespan part of a mobile phone than slim design. Replaceable batteries also allow guilt-free fast charging and full charging cycles, both of which wear down the battery quickly. I cherish fast charging, and I would rather blast that power into the anytime-replaceable battery than feeling guilt knowing that this trapped battery can not simply be replaced once it expires. Non-replaceable batteries are, by definition, a form of planned obsolescence. It compromises the freedom of the phone user. Although a phone repair service can still repair it, the repair costs multiple times as much as the replacement battery itself, and will likely irreversibly damage the water resistance seal. I would much rather be able to replace the phone battery within minutes (open/unscrew back cover; old battery out; new battery in; done!) than having to go to a phone repair shop, let someone do a battery surgery on my phone and hope that he does not accidentially break any delicate parts. Here is an essay from some news site that also mentions this point. Side note: An expired phone battery does not just have a lower capacity, but a lower power output and charging speed and could also be a safety hazard. The effects include accidental shutdowns. Practically, one failing part makes the entire device useless. Here is an essay by me on why it is particularly bad on iPhones. Batteries are supposed to be replaced like car wheels. Compromises That video mentions that replaceable batteries lead to compromises, which I have debunked here. In a nutshell: All these compromises can be compensated with measures that require a bit of space inside the device, but this is a compromise that 100% of the votes on this poll would happily take. “But I get a new device each year anyway!” If you can afford it, sure. But users should be upgrading their phones because they appreciate the feaures and improvements, not because the battery of their current phone is failing. But there is still some work that needs to be done, like setting up the new device, installing the software, etc. , which might bother some uses, but might be trivial to others. Also, many users might be perfectly happy with their current phone or want to use it as a secondary device after upgrading. Also, manufacturers sometimes remove features from newer devices that some users found useful. An entire device should not be rendered useless because one part has reached the end of its lifespan. This poll I made proves how much people value battery lifespan. They would rather have a battery with less capacity and speed but much more lifespan than vice versa. ————————————————————————— I would love to hear your opinion on it. Do you agree? Do you disagree? Let me know.

Hey, I have recently been in the market for a new phone. Given everything that's happening right at this moment (run your folding@home pc's!!), I probably have an absolute max of about $350 (USD). My current pick is the Samsung Galaxy A51, which just recently partially launched in the US. However the only problem is I need an unlocked version (rural area, have to have a prepaid sim, straight talk specifically), and the two US versions available are only on Sprint and Verizon, tho more are said to be released within the coming weeks. Those are $349.99 with trade in. With this in account, I went on Amazon and looked to see if I could find anything else, and I did, there are listings for both A51's and A71's that are cheaper and unlocked, however they seem to be either Latin America models based off of some people comments, or international model based off of title. The model number for these seems to be A515F/DS, and there are listings elsewhere like B&H, Newegg, and Ebay. I'm currently very confused on the differences between the official Samsung.com listing and these other ones, besides the model number, the only other difference I can clearly make out is more colors (or any other than black) being available for the international, and possibly another frequency band according to a B&H listing for them as well. There is also confusion from some listings saying it doesn't record as high of quality of video, but reviews from YouTube say it records 4k@30 video on both back and front cameras. I've watched several reviews on YouTube and they comment saying they got them off of Amazon and live in the US. So my question is, what are the differences and what would be the better option, waiting however long for the US version, or buying the international version? Thank you very much anyone that views or helps, hope y'all stay safe and cleanly!

I really your help about my Pocophone F1. I just installed Lineage OS just as what is told in Linus's video. However after a couple week when I tried connecting my phone to my laptop, it wouldn't read. When I try to update the drivers it just says drivers cannot be installed (Code 28). I tried turning off then on the USB debugging, but it still doesn't work. Even switching cables and ports doesn't work. And also it is detected as PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller. Please help me guys I'm not sure what to do about it now. I can't transfer large files to my laptop or use it for tethering. The charge icon is present when i connect it but no type of use (MTP, Camera, etc.) Please help me guys so I can update my firmware soon.

Hi guys. I've noticed that some apps on my phone are able to perform significantly better using my mobile data. When turning on my WiFi, my apps start to take it's time loading rendering the screen. What could cause this issue?

The time as come to get a new phone, after perusing the market and doing some research i've narrowed down my choices to the Google Pixel (most likely the XL if i go with the pixel) and the Oneplus3t. As i type this on my old iPhone 5c (being to lazy to walk downstairs to type on my Cherry MX speeds, but greatly regretting not) i can't wait to get either one, currently my phone has issues sending and receiving texts along with countless randomly occuring bugs (such as headphones not playing any sound!!!) i just want to get off this horrible device ASAP. But that's where i run into issues, i cant decide which phone to get. Obviously i will not be venturing into the apple eco system, and im left with a choice of what i see are the two best phones out there right now, the Google Pixel (XL) and Oneplus3t. Reasosn to go with the pixel: Based off of many reviews including LTT's it appears to be the smoothest running phone currently available, somthing which i would love to experience The large 1440p screen is quite appealing to me as i do enjoy having my backgrounds to be stunning hi-res images The long lasting battery life, i can't stress enough how much i need this, i can barely make it through a day on my iPhone 5c while using it on THE LOWEST BRIGHTNESS!!! The camera, i dont often take that many photos on my phone, but i'm sure that would change if the photos didn't look like dog shit, as i enjoy photographicing concerts and other nighttime events the camera on the Pixel is extremely appealing Reasons to go with the Oneplus: Price! being around $350 (US Dollar) lower than the pixel this is very appealing because, at least from the surface, your not getting really any decrease in hardware, as far as i can tell both the OnePlus and the Pixel have very similar practically identical hardwhere inside, so why would i pay the premium price? The extreemly fast finger print sensor, i've used my friends to test it out and OMG! it recognized my fingerprint immediately, especially compared to using my girlfriends iPhone 6 which only recognizes my finger print about 25% of the time and when it does it takes almost 2 seconds to unlock, and its not just me, she has similar issues Agians long battery life is a very appealing to me as i mentioned in this in the pixel section of this post The camera seems very good, not as good as the pixel but i can settle as i mostly use the camera on munich phone for snapchat Which Phone should i get? is the premeium price of the Pixel really worth it? or is the lower priced 3t practically just as good? Or should i just wait for a Pixel 2? or Oneplus4? Any input would be greatly appreciated as i can not decide what to do, Thanks!

So I have windows 10 on both laptop and desktop. I have an Android Note 4. My question is, without having to use my Microsoft login, is there a way I can use my phone from my computers similar to how Mac and iPhones can get calls, texts, and video chats?

What are some good stores that sell Chinese phones in Australia. I'm using a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 that I bought from BuyMobile. Great phone, good price, but I won't ever but from BuyMobile again. They loaded the phone with adware that took me days to remove, and there are still traces of shit in the phone. Any suggestions on decent places to buy from (that don't load phones with adware/bloatware)?
-
Are there any? Most of the ones I find are older models getting price drops. But I want ones that are being released in those price ranges.

A bit of backstory, not sure if really needed but oh well. I am 16, just got my first job. My first phone was a 40 dollar hand-me-down from my dad, then that broke after like 6 months (with some help from a well placed knife to the processor), then I got a 125 dollar phone that wasn't too bad but the screen died like a week ago so know I have a 50 dollar hand-me-down phone from dad again. With my new job I'm gonna buy a new phone, but I don't want a 900 dollar piece of hardware in my pocket that I can't let out of my sight, so I'm looking at something under the 450 dollar range. I have picked one out but I don't know much about phones in so I would like to know if off stats alone somebody can tell me if for $350 aud this phone if good value for the price because the only review I can find are ones by people who unbox it and don't use it long enough to give a decent review of the usability, by people that know as much as I do about phones or by people who compare it to flagship, top-of-the-line $1000+ phones and call it bad. Hey whats up guys i have a delima here. I recently got a replacement screen for a I-phone 6plus and got everything altogether and runs perfectly fine other than the front camera (screen camera) its just a black screen, then when i switch to the back camera and that one works just fine.. I ended putting back in my old camera and that one didnt work anymore either, so im not sure if its software related or what i did wrong. "NOTE" I didnt put the finger print scanner in the new one due to that i dont use it so i left it out but would this cause the camera issue? Also to the replacement screen was pre assembled so it didnt require to much work to get it altogether it included the Screen digitizer The ear speaker Home button Any help would be much appreciated.
