Hey guys just a quick poll to see if you think I should fix my Galaxy s3 for $229 or buy a Nexus 4 for $299? My Galaxy S3 needs a complete screen Replacement I can fix it myself but the screen costs $229 do you think it's worth spending the money on it or just cutting my losses and buying a brand new Nexus 4 for an extra $70? Any input would be appreciated, Thanks.

I really don't use my phone, I only use it for business reasons texts and calls not for games or watching videos etc. My girlfriend wants me to get a better phone because "my brick phone pisses her off" Back in 2004 I was given Nokia block phone from my mum which has lasted me about 6 years (stone age but at least colour) in 2010 I got an Samsung galaxy S1 from work which ended up getting stolen, then I think I was given a phone 4 or 4s from work which also got stolen in 2011. My Nokia phone is very strong, has been dropped alot of times(in the past) been in the washing machine a few times (I cant do laundry but lucky my girlfriend does most of the house work now, phone hasn't been in wash since.) 2004-2010 and 2011 since now 2013. I think its time for a upgrade so recommend me a phone. Things I want on my phone: GPS with no lagg when using it Tracking like find my iPhone or something similar 3G would be nice Very long battery and fast charging Very strong and reliable like Nokia rep but not crazy like water proof and drop proof 50m etc Nice simple looking. Not to expensive Not to flash don't want to get mugged Not a flip phone I would like wireless charging like the nexus 4 but my girlfriend has the s4 and bought a cover which allowed her to use wireless charging Not to big. Want something that will fit in my pocket not crazy like the Samsung galaxy note which i saw in the shop. Preferred if it had SD card. Nice Camera. Just for references to work photos etc and when traving taking photos instead of bring a camera. Oversea sim card unlocked preferred duel sim like traving to over countries I know this is alot of things to ask from a phone but im sure there is something out there. Really leaning to the nexus 4 but no sd card and wanting duel sim.

I'm looking to upgrade from my Turtle Beach X12s with a Blue Yeti microphone. I will mostly play games and listen to small amounts of music. I am looking to go for less than $150, but I am willing to budge if necessary. Suggestions?

I hear from a lot of people that in 5-10 years smartphones and tablets will be more powerful than PC and Consoles. People have said they will become the main gaming platform and do everything a PC can do. Do any of you believe this?

So recently bought a Alcatel OneTouch Idol X Black and so far it seems good except for some lag issues. I have 15 days to try this phone if I want to exchange it for another. I got this phone for free with a $30 plan for 2 year tab of $200.00 on Virgin Mobile. Location: Vancouver, BC So thoughts on this phone? Preferably those who has personal experience with this phone. Specs wise I am fine with. Its more performance and reliability and user experience i am more worried about.

Hey, I've been looking at phone reviews for an eventual upgrade, and I watch a lot of youtube on my phone. I've noticed that reviewers will provide the 3G time (though that's normally for calls) and sometimes a local video playback test, but no Youtube test. What I'd like to see are tests of Youtube both over 3G and on Wifi as that is more intensive as it's video playback + streaming data. Maybe people could run tests on their phones and submit it with the phone model and the time it lasted on Youtube. The conditions for the test would be as follows: Starting at 100% battery, and play a long video (eg one of those 10 hour ones) until phone turns off (some phones go right down to 1% and others get to 4% then shut off) Do it on 3G with everything else disabled (Bluetooth, Wifi, GPS, any power saving feature etc.), and screen at full brightness Do it on Wifi with everything else disabled (Bluetooth, 3G, GPS, any power saving feature etc.), and screen at full brightness Results should be given in this format: Phone model: <insert phone here> Time on 3G: <insert time on 3G, hours and minutes> Time on Wifi: <insert time on wifi hours and minutes> Eg, for my phone it would be: Phone model: Samsung Galaxy Nexus Time on 3G: 1hr 40min (approx at ~1%/min) Time on Wifi: 2hr 11min (approx at 16%/21min) I need to run the actual test to get more accurate results but I wanted to post something (and I already knew the 3G one because I suffer with it every morning). I did the Wifi one from a 21min video just now.

"in fact, those of you with invites will start seeing them in your inbox on June 6th" - David S. of One Plus shipping will be 3-5 days (ups ground looks like is fastest) http://forums.oneplus.net/threads/behind-the-scenes-invites-are-coming.21563/ early supporters get invites first. One plus describes early supporter as "What's an early supporter? Previously, we would include activity and other metrics in the mix in determining this. This time, it's all about registration date. Going by registration date means that there will be a lot of people whose accounts aren't active, which is why the early supporter invites in July will last 24 hours. As they expire, the next people in line will get them." http://forums.oneplus.net/threads/july-plan-for-early-supporters.43151/ also. linus if you plan on reading this and trying to say my name... I will laugh so hard at the fails. easier to say KC and I won't be able to pronounce the remainder of your name so screw it also linus if I get more invites I will offer them to you as I won a contest for early invite (if you are interested)

Today, Walmart launched a trade-in program for aged-smartphone owners hoping to get quick credit to put towards a new phone. Walmart gave some examples for what your old phones would be worth, so we can list those out and then you can compare to other services such as Gazelle that offer cash for your used phones. Walmart will currently hand out $50 to $300 worth of credit for over 100 different smartphones. You can get $300 for a working non-damaged iPhone 5 and up to $175 for a non-damaged Galaxy S3. If you have an old Galaxy S2 sitting around, that could be worth up to $52. To see their full list of trade-in values, you can check out the program when it launches nationwide on September 21 in more than 3,600 Walmart locations. New companies are developing new smartphones and are trying to make it to the top but they are failing. What is making them fail? Like Blu. They are a fairly new company that has made multiple devices but they are not very well known, and Oppo with their new Oppo N1. Its actually been reviewed by multiple tech review companies such as Phonedog and Phonearena, and Pocketnow. But a lot of them have been comparing it to the HTC One Max. Also Jolla has been at multiple tech conventions showing off their smartphone with Sailfish OS. What are they doing wrong and how could they get to the top and beat Samsung, Apple, and HTC?

I need to know where to find unlock codes for phones. So I could make a locked company phone unlocked. Like the HTC Droid DNA from Verizon to unlocked so I could stick an ATT sim card in it. But I mostly need to know where to find unlock codes.

I was installing a new rom on my android phone (htc sensation), and I looked up some videos about different roms etc, but there isn't much out there to be honest. So I was thinking I would like to see some videos of @Linus and @Slick trying out different roms, maybe some sort of weekly iSwitched with like the roms that are available for most phones (android revolution, cyanogenmod, AOSP, Miui,...) What do you guys think?

Was interested to hear some opinions... Does a phone cover/case have to cover the screen, or is just covering the sides and back enough? Thanks

So I had a cool project idea, taking a few high quality chargers and stealth them into a wall socket. Doing so with a few chargers and put them around the house. So I'll have a cool DIY feature in my house that looks good and higher quality than the horrible quality chargers that comes with your smartphone/ tablet. Yes, I understand that most people use them and they can be "just fine". However batteries are aging faster on these cheap cubes of garbage, rather than a higher quality charger. And as a battery life paranoid, I'd do anything (accept charging from my computer, because it's not convenient) to slow these battery from aging. If I'll not find any, I'll just get a bunch of regular chargers and stealth them in the wall socket. It's not going to be hard to do. I wired my house a few years ago during renovations, so I do know what I'm doing, and I'll take the necessary safety measures. Basically tablets and smartphones that charges via USB (5v)with maximum current of 3A, preferably with an ability to tweak the voltage (usually undervolting, for making the phone charge slower at night. And if I'm in a hurry to put a slightly higher voltage to charge fast). If I'll find a hi quality one, but without these features. I might mod it, or better make one from scratch (possible but will take much more time) You can say it's WAY overkill, but I like doing fun projects that might make no sense to some, but seem epic for other. Sorry for the novel, I just wanted to make sure I covered all corners.

So, next month I'll be having my birthday and (in theory) I'll be able to afford to buy a new phone to replace my current Nokia Lumia 610. I've narrowed it down to a couple of phones, but I was wondering what you guys thought. I am Australian. The One Plus One is not an option. Do not suggest it. Nexus 5 ($449 for a 32 GB) - This is my main contender, my issue with it being the fact that it's going to probably be replaced soon Sony Xperia Z ($370 or so for 16 GB) - I saw this at a store and the price doesn't seem too bad, but the phone is fairly old so I'm not sure it's any good at the moment HTC One M7 (I've seen it for $500 at a store, but the site sucks so I can't check) - Again, I've seen this at a store, and I'm a big fan of it, but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $49 compared to the Nexus I don't need the best camera in the world, just good enough for Facebook and twitter, however a nice battery would be nice. Thanks in advanced.

The other day there was an update for the HTC One(I have Verizon). Since the update, the phone has had a setting on where if I get the password wrong 10 times in a row it will delete all my data. I have tried searching the internet and have gone through the settings multiple times and I can not find a solution(I might just be stupid, I don't know). I would very much like if someone could tell me a way to disable this. Your help is greatly appreciated.

this is an article on the semiaccurate.com website. i thinks its really great to see a remote without batteries. but still my remote didn't need any new batteries for the past year. it would be great if they can implement this feature in phones. with something like a solar panel on the back of your phone and around the edges of your screen. this way when you put your phone down on the table it recharges automatically. you can have a couple of hours extra battery life when you put your phone on the table instead of putting it in your pocket. and for the flexible screens its very usefull as well, because they dont have a great battery life but with a solar panel on them they will have just that couple of hours extra before they need to be recharged. http://semiaccurate.com/2013/12/05/arm-makes-power-scavenging-learning-remote/

T-Mobile is going to provide free data to tablet users. They are offering 200mb of free 4g data to anyone with a T-Mobile tablet sim card. Now granted it is only 200mb but it is also free. It also doesn't look like they are limiting it to people who are already T-mobile customers and they're not forcing you to buy a tablet from them or anything like that. I haven't tried to sign up so I don't know what hoops they make you jump through, if any, but what do you guys think? How big of a step forward is this for wireless carriers? No one can say T-Mobile hasn't been, while maybe not revolutionizing the industry, pushing against what a wireless carrier is normally willing to do. And I wouldn't be supprized to see AT&T and Verizon come out with something to compete with this like they have in the past. http://how-to.t-mobile.com/tabletsunleashed/?cm_ven=CRM%20Newsletter%20Email&cm_cat=Dec2013&cm_pla=18781_1227957&cm_ite=H1_-_HS_-_MBB_-_200MB_DATA_-_NA_-_SC
