hi there, i bought a Metabox(clevo) P775tm1-g not long ago with a single stick of 16gb 3000mhz ram the laptop made it run at 2666mhz. anyway i wanted to put more ram in it so i bought more 2400mhz sticks under the advice of Metabox. after installing my FPS was lower benchmarks. in games theres not a whole lot of difference, maybe still a bit lower. i took the new ram out thinking it would run faster but it was exactly the same for some reason. am i doing something wrong? is it common for benchmark test programs to have large inconsistencies with results? before ram change i got 60+ fps in vally benchmark and after i got 40+ fps. system is a i7 8700k GTX 1080

Just built my new computer, moved from a FX6300 to a 7950x (Big upgrade), and accidently got a SATA 3 SSD. Was wandering if it was worth upgrading it and just using the parts as a possible extra storage? I am doing some video editing and gaming on this machine so would I truly notice a difference or would it come down to if I'm doing 4k video or pushing hard-core rendering in After FX

Hello, hopefully this post doesnt make me look stupid - I have the system in my bio. The general gist of it is I have a custom built desktop with a i7 10700k, a 3070ti, and 32 gigs of 3200mhz ram. I am currently plugged into gigabit ethernet with 4ms latency. I have been getting into VR for some time now with a wired Oculus Quest 2 at 120hz, and seem to be having some strange performance issues much of the time. For instance, if have been using my PC for regular things, stop that, and load up beatsaber, or even just steamvr home, it often lags immensely with 10fps and unable to keep up with headtracking. I restart the game, sometimes it fixes sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time if I restart my PC, it solves it for the gaming session - this is a fairly new windows 10 install, so I dont know what could start running to cripple it, especially as the CPU/GPU/RAM usage at game opening time is low. This sometimes happens with GTA V as well after a tab out, but a couple more tab in tab outs seem to fix that. I have also been playing some VR chat, and I have been getting pretty low FPS for VR with this hardware - like, on highly detailed worlds with at most 3 accounts 30-50fps. Now, I'd say that it is just so much custom stuff loading - but it shouldnt be! I have fpsvr installed, and ignoring all the red and low fps/frametimes/etc, my cpu/gpu are both hovering around 30% usage, my ram is fine in usage, and my vram is hovering around 6.7/7.8gb. Unless its super single threaded or something, my cpu should have much more room to perform - and so should my gpu! Temps should be fine, I have a 280mm aio and a front to back/top airflow along with an msi gaming x trio card. My main thought so far is that it could be lack of VRAM, which comes from when I load a hq vrchat room (not restarting PC first) and I am at VRAM 7.4/7.8gb, but that still should have a little breathing room - and the problem persists after a restart and the vram dropping. What makes this even stranger, is my mother is using my RX580 to play VRChat with me as I am away at college - she is getting very similar FPS to me! She has an i7 4930k, 32gb ddr3 ram, and an RX580 running on an SSD with very little other software running - should be way weaker than my system in every regard - yet her fps is so similar to mine. What is going on? We both have the same VR headset, except hers is the higher storage model, and I'm using it wired while shes using it airlink. Any ideas?

Hi there! I’m considering upgrading RAM speed from 2666mhz to 3200mhz in the Summer. How much of a difference would it make to performance. My intended use is gaming and will be 3D design and that general area. Will I see an improved in rendering speed?

I have performance issues, specifically in league of legends. I am not sure wether they are exclusive to the game, but most other games seem to perform fine, to the point where it doesnt matter. Only league performs at a level that I would consider unresonable for my specs My specs: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 2 * 8gb DDR4 1440p 165hz main display fr 1080p 60hz graphics tablet secondary display wireless keyboard wireless logitech mouse at 125hz Drivers are up to date according to the amd software The game performs at lowest settings (no vsync) at the start of a game with around 100-120fps, which is what seems resonable, however when the fight starts ("first wave") it drops down to ~60. The load on both cpu and gpu is low and on the ressource monitor the cpu cores dont even seem to be nearly full. I have tried to disable the Highprecisionenventtimer thing in the device tab, which was suggested somewhere else but that didnt have an effect. I have plugged an old school style mouse in, since I found that a high refresh rate for the mouse causes even more lag, but that didnt fix it. I dont play many other games but those report far better fps for a similar amount of ressource usage Gunfire reborn has 60-90fps R6 has is pretty stable 130 Attached are 2 screenshots of the task manager while running league and the ressource monitor while running league

I have been trying to play God of War on PC for the first time and stumbled upon some bad performance issues I believe. The current setup I am playing is shown below: PC Specs GPU-Z I tried every setting in game and this is on the lowest setting: In game Display Settings In game Graphics Settings And this is the FPS I usually get: In game FPS at Around 30 - 40 FPS If anyone has any information on how to resolve this issue, please comment on it. GPU usage is at 98% on all settings.

I was looking into getting a 3.5 inch hard drive to expand the storage of my new desktop. I was looking at getting an 8 tb drive. I found two drives that are both 7200 rpm. I found the WD Black 8tb 3.5 hdd with 128 mb cache and the Seagate ironwolf 8tb 3.5 hdd with 256mb cache. They are only $9 different in price. My use case is I game and video edit on my pc. .

Hello! I'm building a gaming PC and i would like to know if it can run modded minecraft; Here are my main specs CPU:Ryzen 7 5700G GPU:Asus RTX 3060 Dual fan Memory: 2x16GB Ram, 3200mhz and 16CL Storage: Kingston NVME SSD 1tb 3100mb/s read speed Is it possible to play modded minecraft? It's not the only game I'm playing, but the main focus. If i install performance mods, would it be possible to use shaders too?

Basically the question, does anyone know if AX-gaming cards are reliable or what their overall quality is? Any cons? I just noticed these cards on newegg and they have great specs for a really great price which may be too good to be true. https://www.newegg.com/p/1FT-00J6-00007

Hi there, I'm not really sure what's going on but I've just noticed this since I've tried to play warzone 2 the last few days, my GPU and CPU are both extremely running at extremely low % rarely going over 40%, and struggling to maintain a solid 70fps, dropping down to 40-50 constantly on the lowest settings, on higher settings i struggle to maintain even 50, i have a 1440p 144hz monitor with an asus strix 3080 and a AMD 5900x with 32gb 3600 cl17 ram since i've noticed this on warzone i've checked another fairly difficult game to run, icarus, and the same thing happens on that game aswell, extremely low % and fps for both my cpu and gpu. even on games that i could run easily on my old pc (1060) i struggle to run with more fps on this 3080 pc with the same res monitor. also the temps on both my gpu and cpu are very low, which i can say im thankful for, atleast something is going well gpu hasn't really ever gone above 70C ever and cpu hasn't gone above 70C either (i have high performance mode on both nvidia and windows power settings) (my PC is approx 8 months old) if anyone has any ideas or advice on what i can do to fix or improve my performance on my pc that would be fantastic, if any extra information is needed i can help in that department massive thanks

Hi! I need RAM modules for my new gaming build. Had originally planned to use two kits of 2x16 gb AORUS DDR5 6000MHz, but then I've later been told that I should not run two different kits of memory, even though they are the same. Struggling to find any good value 2x32gb with 6000MHz speed, but I see a lot of options for 5200MHz. How much does this really affect my performance? Mainly for gaming use. Been looking at the Corsair dominator platinum 2x32 5200MHz, and that would fit perfect as I'm running all corsair fans and a corsair case. Build is a 4090 and 13900k. Thankyou.

I've been wanting to upgrade for a while so that I can play more demanded games like Blade & Sorcery and Vail, though im not sure what I should upgrade. VAIL takes ~70-75% GPU usage, and B&S doesn't seem to be straining my PC too hard on Task Manager, but I can't keep a steady 90 FPS. I've made sure that streaming from my PC ain't the problem since I'm using Virtual Desktop to stream to my Quest 2. All the other response times for encoding, decoding, etc. are around ~4 ms. VRPerfKit is installed on B&S, but not on VAIL, i ran both games @ medium settings, got around 70-90 FPS on B&S, and ~60-80 on Vail. PC Parts Ryzen 7 1700 2 x 8 GB memory ~2133 mhz EVGA RTX 3050 Budget is ~$250, don't really want to replace mobo, but if intel is best i can do it. if ya have any questions or theres something i forgot to add, don't hesitate, thanks.

ryzen 5 3600x gtx 1080ti corsair vengeance pro rgb 3200 8gb x2 corsair 600w psu tuf b450 recently my pc crashed and somehow one of my ram slots on my motherboard is now not working so ive re channelled my ram but the stutters have gotten worse since then it always did it but barely noticable now its quite. i have an overclock on my gpu but even without it it does it. i get up to 50% fps drops in games like csgo. im also not sure how good my internet is it, seems to have gotten worse lately i get a steady 9 Mbs download and ping isnt usualy more than 20 but i dont know if that counts as stable im not sure how to test that. any ideas of what to test would be so helpfull thank you

I booted up my computer and started the Task Manager because I noticed that my HDD was very noisy. It turned out that the EA App was updating a game so that's fine. I then noticed that my GPU (an RTX 3080 Ti) was being 100% percent utilized when I had no games or apps running (apart from the necessary Windows services and the aforementioned EA App). I opened up the GeForce Experience performance overlay and noticed that utilization was around 1-2% percent there. Which one should I trust? I've attached two screenshots from both the Task Manager and GeForce Experience performance overlay.

Budget (including currency): Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming and streaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I currently have: motherboard: Asus ROG Dark Hero VIII CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950x GPU: MSI Geforce RTX 3080 RAM: Corsair Vengeance 4x8Gb DDR4 PSU: Cooler master MWE Gold 650 W Storage: Samsung 970 evo + Firecuda 520 With what I have I get 16,086 on 3d Mark. So basically I've been looking online for a new gpu and my price range is max $1200 AUD but i want to save money where ever I can. I've done my research and come to the conclusion that the gpu I want to buy is the ROG STRIX gpu but I'm not sure if I should get the 3070 or the 3070 ti, the pricing is $900 AUD for the 3070 and $1100 for the 3070 ti. So is the performance really worth the extra $200 or should i save my money and just get the the 3070? Please I need help!

Because I may need to use my second x8 PCIe slot, I did some testing with Time Spy for my RX 6800. However I noticed no appreciable difference in score. I did this testing using the bifurcation setting in my bios and verified the lanes with HwInfo. I expected at least a loss of 10% performance or something, but I only recorded a loss of less than 0.5%. Is this to be expected, or did I make some naïve mistake in testing? My scores were: @x16: 16,596 16,640 16,645 @x8: 16,589 16,584 16,569 My system for those curious is: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D Gigabyte Radeon RX 6800 GAMING OC 16G G.skill Trident Z Neo 4x16GB DDR4-3600 CL14 Gigabyte X570S AORUS MASTER

My secondary system which I just put together is having some weird performance issues, I mainly put the PC together to play less demanding titles but mainly for Diablo 3 My specs are as follows CPU: AMD FX-8150 Cooler: Hyper 212 MB: Asus M5A97 evo r2.0 Ram: 8gb DDR3 GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 570 8gb SSD: MX500 500gb When running Diablo 3, even on the lowest settings I'm getting around 60-70fps, but I'm pretty certain performance should be a lot higher than that. I know my GPU is definitely bottlenecked by the CPU but I didn't think it'd be this much of a performance hit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

This is kind of a broad, somewhat open set of questions (hence General Discussion), probably without a right answer. If you had/have a streaming setup for gaming (i.e. stream to Twitch, Youtube, etc.) what do you consider the best compute/gaming/encode setup and how much does it depend on the game being played? Example, if a game is primarily CPU-bound, do you proactively switch streaming codecs (example a GPU or nVidia specific codec vs x264)? Does it matter? Do you prefer having a single GPU? Separate GPU for streaming/encoding specifically? Separate computer entirely? I already know it's going to be generally subjective. Looking for opinions, situational-dependent setups/observations, etc.

CPU Performing way below expectations. Did user benchmark and its apparently performing super bad, i have no idea what it could be. Everthing else is performing normally. 2% on idle and i usually close all the apps that i dont need when i play. mostly only discord up. Im sitting below 144fps on league of legends, 55 ish on battlefield 1,5,2042. Even with what i have and the results i get, when i do benchmarks its telling me i should get much higher fps than what i actually do. I was curious about exactly how the Intel 12th gen efficiency cores compare to the performance cores, so I wrote a script that runs Geekbench 5 against each individual core. I chose Geekbench for this test because it offers a nice mix of real-world algorithms rather than an arbitrary synthetic mix of computations. Here are the results for an i7-12700h running in an Asus Vivobook S 14X. Summary of results ----------------------------------------------- Core # 0: Average=1771.00 *** Baseline *** Core # 1: Average=1770.50 vs Baseline: 99.97% Core # 2: Average=1767.33 vs Baseline: 99.79% Core # 3: Average=1749.00 vs Baseline: 98.75% Core # 4: Average=1844.16 vs Baseline: 104.13% Core # 5: Average=1843.66 vs Baseline: 104.10% Core #12: Average=1091.66 vs Baseline: 61.64% Core #13: Average=1097.66 vs Baseline: 61.97% Core #14: Average=1096.50 vs Baseline: 61.91% Core #15: Average=1098.50 vs Baseline: 62.02% Core #16: Average=1097.83 vs Baseline: 61.98% Core #17: Average=1095.50 vs Baseline: 61.85% Core #18: Average=1097.16 vs Baseline: 61.95% Core #19: Average=1096.33 vs Baseline: 61.90% Cores #0-5 are the six native performance cores (hyperthreaded cores excluded); cores #12-19 are the eight efficiency cores. Core #0 is the 100% baseline. Based on these results the efficiency cores are 62% as fast as the performance cores on a i7-12700h. Note how cores #4 and #5 are faster than the other four performance cores - these are the "favored cores" on this particular CPU die. See Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3 for details. Here is a link to my GitHub repository if anyone would like to run this test on their setup as well. It runs under Linux. https://github.com/horshack-dpreview/GeekbenchAutomationTools

I recently got a new GPU and Ive been having issues with my pc that I feel like can be attributed to like a single setting or hardware issue but I cannot find it. I Mostly play Overwatch and most of the issues revolve around it: I get 200-240 FPS average and a 1% low of 5-ish frames and a 0.1% low of 2 fps. Games crash, disk goes to 100% randomly, downloading games on gigabit internet and a brand new ssd takes very very long: sitting on 1 kb/s on 0% network usage, and crashes on absolutely everything. No real overclocking, everything is up to date except bios, and temps are normal. System wasnt always perfect im not confident its the GPU. Most of the parts are several years old. I've recently bought a 3080ti and I've noticed that during benchmarks, in this case furmark my clock speeds were far below what I expected. I opened up msi afterburner and noticed that power limit was 1 and that my power draw was 200W. I thought this was strange since the TDP of the 3080 TI should be 350W. As you can see in the attached screenshot the clock speed idles at 1710 mhz but drops to around 400 during the benchmark while the memory idles at 9501 mhz and stays there. Strangely enough, at idle, the gpu sits at 1710 MHz. I have a corsair cx750 powering this rig so that should at least get it to it's rated TDP. What gives? The gpu in question is the Gigabyte 3080ti vision OC
