Okay I'll keep this as short as I can. Backstory: ======== I bought a used Zotac FE GTX760 which didn't work at first. It needed a small soldering of an IC connection on the back to work as it was loose. It was done at a professional shop. The problem started after installing Nvidia drivers (though it's not caused by the driver itself) The card is recognised as a GTX 680 instead of a GTX 760. Since then I've tried in vain to flash it with nvflash only to be greeted by 'Gpu mismatch' and it doesn't ask for any prompt for override ( I did use override codes -5,-6. -4 is unrecognised). So anyway, after watching a guide on youtube,(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSlgOZZMKU8) I managed to successfully flash the GTX 760 bios on it in DOS mode. Current Issue: =========== The current issue is that Device ID is recognised correctly as 1187, corresponding to GTX 760. However, PCI adaptor ID is recognised as 1180, aka GTX 680. Therefore Nvidia will install 680 drivers instead of 760 and it crashes on desktop. I've been trying for days trying to fix it with no luck Only possible way i can imagine is to manually change Adaptor id using --setpci command in Nvflash but I don't know how. I really need help with this as I really can't afford another GPU. Specs: ===== Asus P5G41T-MLX Pentium E5700 @3Ghz 2Gb DDR3 1333Mhz GTX 760 (obviously lol) Corsair VS550 I know it isn't the best, but I'll be putting a Xeon in it and add 8gb of Ram and I'll have a 1080p capable rig You can see that Adaptor ID is that of a 680, while the device ID shows 760

Say I have an i5-7600k on a MSI z370i AC board with any graphic card taking 16 PCIe lanes, (or just PCI idk the difference,)would I be able to use m.2 memory or would that take up a lane too?

Hello everyone. So, I have an older computer (Optiplex 790) that only has 2-channel audio. This is bad, because It is used to play games like fortnite on, and I just can't stand it. To fix this, I tried to install a sound card from my box of sound cards, and all of them either shorted the computer's PCI slot or are not compatible with Windows 10. The problem seems to be that the sound cards that short the slot (and another slot on a ASUS P5B Deluxe) are all PCI Universal cards, so they have 2 notches on them instead of just one. I don't know if this is the issue or not, but I would really like to get this fixed. I have an Audigy 2 ZS, a Sound Blaster Live, a Sound Blaster X-Fi SB0460, and an MSI X-Fi Xtreme Audio card. Thanks!

Greetings Everyone, Let me start with the specs of my PC: CPU Ryzen 1600 Mobo Gigabyte AORUS AX370 Gaming k5 Ram: Corsair Vengeance lpx 8gb DDR4 2400Mhz CL16 SSD: Samsung 860Evo 250gb HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 2TB GPU: Gigabyte pascal gtx 1050ti (Single Fan) PSU: Corsair CX550w Case: Antec P8 (Tempered Glass) Wifi PCI express card: TP link TL-WN881ND V2 Speakers: Logitech z120 Mouse: Dell MS116t Keyboard: TVS Gold bharat UPS: APC BX600 Wifi Router: TL-WR841N Internet Plan: 15mbps My PC is on ground floor and my wifi router is on First Floor. Distance between my PC and Wireless router is approx. 16feet (4.9 metres). The only interference between the Router and the PC is Slab between the floors. My Laptop and My Smartphones both have consistent 13 to 15 mbps speed (tested on speedtest.net) both on First floor & Ground floor (Where my PC is). Problem: In my PC I get close to 0mbps speed (Even though I installed the latest Wifi adapter driver from the TP link website) I think that it has something to do with the PCI card Antennas, because: 1. When the Antenna is fully screwed to the card I get Nil speed, but when I loosen the antenna (By unscrewing little bit) and run the speedtest, I get 2 results: i) Same 0mbps speed ii) 13 to 15mbps (This happens after great trial and error of making the antennas just rightly loose or by applying little downward pressure on it) After accidentally moving the antenna, it malfunctions again and now if I adjust it to the same previous position, it doesnt regain its speed rather, I have to trial & error adjust the antenna again in differerent positions 2. I inserted the PCI card on other slot and the results were the same. So anybody knows the fix for the antenna problem or some advice, Please comment. Thank you in advance

hp laptop Is it possible to add a PCIE mini slot?
Xinidae posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
I'm not sure if this is the best categorie in the forum for this question but this is what I got. My HP Envy x360 15 15-w117cl has a space where it looks like an m.2 SSD would be possible to mount but there's no PCIE mini slot on the board other than the one for the wifi card. There are contacts on the board that look like solder spots but no connector and in the instruction manual on the HP website it says there's a slot for m.2 ssds but it may be referring to a different model number since the instruction is for multiple models. I couldn't find any website selling just PCIE mini slots or in the HP part seller store. If I can't add a PCIE slot I'll just replace the HDD. It is possible that there's a PCIE mini slot on the bottom of the board but I haven't flipped it over yet and when I called up HP support to see if they could help but it was a joke. Also is it possible to add a GPU I've seen other models with a gpu on the area I circled. Thanks for anyone that can help me find some answers. -
I am trying to add a second GTX 970 to my system and just got the SLI bridge in the mail. I know both cards work on their own and in the PCIE slots they are placed in, but when I add the bridge, Nvidia Control Panel does not think there is an SLI bridge. I have tried rotating the bridge and updating the drivers. I have also run the GPU-Z SLI test on the cards, and the first one is using 8x 3.0, but the second is running 8x 1.1. My guess is that Nvidia is running the second card as a PhysX card and that is why it is using a lower gen PCIE, but I am not sure. I am using an MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition mobo and from what I can tell (the manual is terrible for working with PCI), I have forced all of the PCI ports to be 3.0. So, I guess my question is: Did I just get a bad SLI bridge and need to get a new one or does anyone know of something I am doing wrong? Also, could power be an issue? I am using a 750w gold PSU.

Hi all, Not necessarily looking to update soon, but I was looking at the new B360 motherboards (if I would upgrade it would be to a 8700) and saw that the only PCI-e configuration it supports is 1x PCI-e x16. However it does have two PCI-e x1 slots. How are the PCI-e lanes distributed if you were to plug in a GPU and a wifi adapter or something at the same time? Thanks

I have Sapphire AMD/ATI HD 7770 1 GB GDDR5 graphics card. Just few days before it stopped working and its dead(no signal output). I tried a different from my friend and that was working. I have gigabyte motherboard ga-970a-ds3p motherboard, which dont have any onboard graphics. So currently I cant start my system. But at this moment I dont want to invest much money for a graphics card. So, is there anything like adaptor that can convert PCI to HDMI(I need HDMI output) that I can use to get the display signal for I monitor?

i've bought an older server and an newer case which only has usb 3.0 ports, while the motherboard hasn't, the motherboard has two pcie x8 slots, and two pcix 64-bit slots. i found the following page on the internet, but i couldn't find any place to buy it... so i need an usb 3.0 controller card for a pci-x 64-bit slot or for a pci-e x8 slot. link to the card (pci-e x8) motherboard: intel server board s5000xvn thanks in advance (btw i'm not sure if i'm in the right catagorie, but this was the best i could find)

So recently I moved in a new home and I had my PC shipped to me from my old house today. I am an idiot apparently. I know I should have taken the graphics card with me but I forgot. So because of the weight, the card bent the socket. Can I use the second PCI slot at full speed? I can in fact see that it does NOT have all the pins. Will it work at half speed? Is there any noticeable real world performance loss? Maybe I can still use the first PCI normal even though it's bent? Can I, by any means, fix it myself (it won't move when I push it down)? Motherboard: Asus Z170 A GPU: EVGA 1070 FTW

I am currently running an egpu, the HP Graphics Accelerator Shell with an R9-290. This accelerator, in turn, is running off of a Thunderbolt 3 port with 4x pci lanes from my Hp Spectre Laptop with a Intel i7 8550u. I was thinking of upgrading my gpu to a gtx 1070, but to upgrade right now is rather insane with the current gpu prices. This got me searching on used hardware sites and I came upon a $150 R9 290. This, in turn, got me started on pci bifurcation. Would it be possible to use something like this:https://www.amazon.ca/Express-riser-useful-Mini-ITX-single/dp/B06Y5LBY8G to crossfire 2 R9 290s and achieve greater performance, thus, creating myself something like a Frankenstein R9 295x2? According to this article I should be okay on bandwidth: https://www.amazon.ca/Express-riser-useful-Mini-ITX-single/dp/B06Y5LBY8G with PCI x4 gen 3 I know it isn't completely practical or useful really, I could just use my desktop for the crossfire and etc.... but I love frankenmachines and want to know would it be possible?

Hello Linus Community, I got a desktop for free that I would love to update with a new GPU and I want to make sure the GPU will be compatible with the Motherboard. My Motherboard is using is an ASUS Micro-ATX B85M-E. It currently has an open PCI Express 3.0/2.0 port and I plan on filling it with a GTX 1050TI (not sure which manufacturer yet). Would this graphics card be compatible with my motherboard? Also, I would most likely need a new power supply unit, but that's besides the point. My specs aren't too good, but hey, it's a free computer. These are my specs: Processor: i3 4730 Graphics Card: Intel HD 6000 Integrated Graphics Motherboard: ASUS B85M-E RAM: 2x4GB DDR3 (forgot the manufacturer) Power Supply Unit: 300W (forgot the manufacturer) Storage: 512GB HDD (forgot the manufacturer) Hope to hear your responses soon, thanks! Influx

I'm in a bad position where I believe my sata controller on my motherboard is failing. Sometimes I have to boot it several times to not get a "failed to detect boot drive" or whatever message, and every single one of my drives (2 SSD, 3 HDD) will kick out errors in HDtune, I also have periodic BSOD with a generic storage error message. I've tested the drives on another system at work and not one of them reports errors in the other system. When I'm in the bios, the motherboard has a hardware viewer where you can click components on the motherboard and it will tell you what's plugged in to them. All of them work fine besides the sata port section which will freeze repeatedly for 5 seconds - 1 minute when viewing it. So that's the problem I'm having. I can not afford to replace the motherboard, but I might be able to pick up a lower cost PCI sata adapter. Can anyone give me suggestions on a sub $50 adapter that I could use to run at least 4 drives (preferably 6 drives, and preferably at least 1 Sata III) including a boot drive? Or alternatively can anyone stop me in my tracks and crush my dreams by telling me I can't boot from a PCI sata adapter. I've been looking at some used 1150 motherboards, and everything is either crazy prices matching or exceeding original prices, or extremely sketchy, so I'd take recommendations on where to get some good discount used motherboards as well, but keep in mind, money is a huge issue right now. Details: Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition Bios: E7922IMS.A70 (Most recent on wesite) CPU: i7 4790K 4.0ghz no overclock Memory: 4x4gb DDR3 1600 Corsair PC3-12800K PSU: EVGA 750 watt (forgot model, semi modular 80+ bronze) Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 380 Boot Drive: Samsung 250gb SSD 840 EVO Storage: Intel 256gb SSD Pro 5400s 2 4tb Western Digital 5400 rpm HDD WD-WCC4E4EHZUCS 2 2tb Toshiba 7200 rpm HDD (don't have model number on hand) OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 I have no expansion cards outside of my GPU which blocks one other port, so I have 2 PCIe 1, 2 PCI, and 1 PCIe x16 slots are available for a Sata controller, and I live in the USA (Indiana) if that helps someone point me to some not sketchy affordable used hardware. Thank you to anyone willing to read all this even if you can't help or suggest anything, the fact you gave it a shot and made is this far is more than I could ask for.

So im trying to upgrade a very old system a dell optiplex gx520 and wait before you start complaning on why im spending money on this pc, let me tell you that at some time im gonna sell this pc so it has to be able to run something at least, on the mean time here is my problem the pc has one pci (not express) slot at the very bottom and i want to populate it either with a gpu mainly for gaming or deep learning (just ligth stuff) or a wifi card due to its location i dont have easy access to a ethernet connetion, both im gonna take advantage before selling but wich one its more viable to buy you know for resale because the gpu can give you better graphics and the wifi card more flexibility Edit: im gonna change the procesor for something like a pentium or a core 2 duo so by any means i dont spect to run something like crysis

Hi, I am looking at building a new pc in the next 3 months or so. I have several factors I want to maximize, mainly the core speed and the number of PCI lanes, for my workload, I can realistically use 6-8 cores, I am planning on a mix of gaming and machine learning. with around 16-32 GB of ram/memory. a 1080 graphics card (probably water-cooled) 1-2 depending on funding. and 1-3 4k screens again depending on funding (prob do nvida surround or similar) I will probably expand to 2 cards and 3 screens down the road so my key questions are what is the best CPU/motherboard combo to maximize core speeds & get many PCI lanes for m.2 PCI. io boards etc. from past experience, I have had good luck with EVGA / Intel but I am looking primarily for performance and plan on spending my estimated budget with 1 1080 card for and 4k screen would be around 2500-3,000ish RGB not required, but I don't care too much prob use an Arduino and some individual addressable LEDs, if it not included.... any advice you all could give would be a big help, its been about 7 years since I've last built a system and not on top of all the latest trends

I have been trying to setup PCI passthrough on an HP Z620 System and am getting a system crash and reset if I install AMD drivers on the virtual machine that the AMD graphics is passed to. This is the error I get. (Picture attached) Details: OS = Proxmox Virtual Machine = Windows 10 System = HP z620 GPU = AMD R9 290 CPU = Xeon E5 2620 Does anyone have any idea how to either disable the reset on error function or fix this issue?

My desktop PC has a 940GB SSD installed and starting to run low on space due to games and video editing work, etc. I have a four 240GB SSD's lying about and I'm dreaming of a solution where I can easily add/replace drives to a single array in the future. Ideally the solution must be very reliable against data loss (maybe RAID 10?) and easy to maintain. I did look at a Drobo but I want to maintain a single drive and don't want to lose performance using an external device. I think I need a SATA RAID controller card, any recommendations guys and gals? Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know of a PCIe addapter for LED control? I'm 1) trying to use Aura sync and 2) using up my extra PCIe slots on my rampage extreme iv mobo. What are your thoughts for LED sync control for games and music?

Hi guys, I'm looking into mounting a PCI expansion card into one of my unused 5.25 inch drive slots (specifically a usb 3.1 gen 2 card). So far I've only found a Japanese product called PE4F that costs 100$, and this ioi product that isn't sold anywhere. Does anyone here have experience with this kind of modding? What would it take to craft a solution like this myself?

Which is better? My house connection is 50mbps and it won't exceed the advertised connection speed of both usb and PCI. Does the PCI card offer better ping than the usb one?
