Hello everyone, I just built a pc with some older parts, and it is not posting. At first I was getting no video output; then I attached a speaker and i did not hear any beep codes. The motherboard does light up and the fans spin. Note: I am aware that my cpu does not have integrated graphics. My specs are: Case: corsair icue 220t Motherboard: asrock standard-atx b450 steel legend Cpu: amd ryzen 7 1700 Gpu: rx580 oem Ssd: wd Black sn750 500gb Psu: evga supernova 650w Thanks for reading -Gamerdude7820

Budget (including currency): Between $1600 and $1700 (US) Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Streaming and several overlays / background applications, Video and music editing, and games like: apex legends, overwatch, minecraft rtx, or any new game decently at 1080p Other details : Already have every other peripheral.Going to use between 2-3 monitors. Looking for a long lasting investment with some OC or easy upgrade capabilty for when extra performance may be needed. budget could be a little flexible but no more than +- $200 To clarify: First time building for a friend I'm helping remotely, so probably wont get into OC or anything too fancy right away. Going intel since can't find any amd cpu's rn. May swap to amd, should any good options appear. Gpu is hard to find, mostly hoping on new stock at microcenter, so any suggestions on a better option to look out for? Any comments or suggestions to make better use of the budget are greatly appreciated. Budget (including currency): $900 - $1200 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Blender, Zbrush, 3d work, run most steam games pretty well + occasional AAA Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU Processor MSI B450-A PRO ATX Motherboard G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16 GB DDR4 3200 RAM Seagate Ironwolf NAS 3 TB Hard Drive Sabrent Rocket Pro NVME 512 GB Drives ASUS Geforce GTX 1650 Videocard Fractal Design Focus Mid-Tower Case Corsair CXM 650W ATX Power Supply WARNING: I’m not a techie, but I want to start learning 3d modeling and have a functional desktop for light gaming that I won’t have to upgrade for awhile. I’m planning on buying a 1080p monitor from Bestbuy and a making a 2nd monitor from my dead laptop. I’m upgrading from laptop to desktop, and I tried to build a cheap pc to save money. Halfway through realized it might not be the right build for what I need, and that I’d rather spend extra for better overall performance anyway. I saw this build on the recommended build for 3d work and have all the parts in the basket, but I saw a comment saying his $900 Ryzen build would be cheaper and would run better. I’d like to follow a build guide from Linus, and would prefer not to stray too far from the recommended parts list if possible. Again, I know nothing of computers and don’t want to spend too much money and time wondering which parts will work together. It would be very helpful to know which build would be the best for 3d work, and if there is a better build guide to follow. Thanks!

Budget (including currency): 10 000 NOK (~1150 USD) Country: Norway Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Current computer for gaming is used for games, streaming and the like / Planned homeserver will be used for watching movies over the cloud, cloud storage and game server hosting. Some games I'm planning to host, preferabely minimum two server at a time if needed: ArmA 3 Minecraft Rust Other than that, I want the system to handle running most of the time. The gaming rig will be running on 1080p 60Hz screens, mostly games similar to Doom Eternal, Hitman 2 and Battlefront 2 in quality. Other details My plan is to: Take older parts from my gaming rig, use those in building up a homeserver for the beforementioned uses and then upgrading the parts that have been moved from the gaming rig. I was originally planning to keep it all in the gaming rig and building the server from scratch but came to the conclusion that I might as well take it all at once when I'm first at it. I have gotten some questions why I'd build a PC to use as a server and not just a corporate level server or the like, but the reason is really that I find computers a lot easier to understand, and after much back and forth I've found it way easier to do it this way at least the first time around. Should I find out later on I want a "proper" server I'll always find a use for the PC server. PC Build I currently have a gaming computer with the following components, I will be putting the upgrade I'm planning to do in parentheses with red text, the rest will stay as is for now. Parts that will be moved to the server will be in blue. I'm not including storage space in the gaming rig as it'll stay, GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 8GB CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X (AMD Ryzen 5 3600) Ram: Unsure of brand, 8x2 GB Sticks (Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2x16 GB 3200 MHz)) MOBO: MSI B450 Gaming Plus (MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk) (is this a good mobo?) PSU: Cooler Master MasterWatt 550W Bronze Case: Phanteks Eclipse P600S Case I have from before. Server Build All parts that aren't blue will be purchased, excluding the case that I have from before. Blue components are taken from the gaming PC. GPU: XFX 590 Fatboy (This is not being purchased, but I had it in "storage") CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2x16 GB 3200 MHz) SSD: Kingston SSDNow 480 GB HDD: Seagate IronWolf 4 TB (1x, to start with) MOBO: MSI B450 Gaming Plus PSU: Corsair RM550X Gold (since the machine will be powered on for most of the time) Case: Fractal Design Define C * In the future I'll be purchasing RAID as a security measure. Conclusion I'm looking for any feedback on these upgrades and builds, does it sound like a decent setup? the motherboard for the rig is the one I've been the most unsure about but I came to the conclusion it might be the most feasible. I have a seperate question, if any can answer it. Is it possible to do a workaround with only a single displayport and wanting to play VR without having to disconnect the monitor all the time to plug the headset in? Thank you for all help! If any more information I've forgotten is necessary I'll add it ASAP.

Hey, so I have a PC I had bought from Best buy a while ago and it's this one -> https://www.bestbuy.com/site/reviews/ibuypower-gaming-desktop-intel-core-i7-8700-16gb-memory-nvidia-gtx-1060-1tb-hdd-120gb-ssd-gray-black/6180825 I added a new graphics card, extra SSD, new powersupply, CPU cooler, and RAM. The current specs of it are this: Storage Type: SSD, HDD Total Storage Capacity: 1360 gigabytes Solid State Drive Capacity: 120 gigabytes, 240GB Hard Drive Capacity: 1000 gigabytes System Memory (RAM): 32 gigabytes Ripjaws Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB OC Processor Speed (Base): 3.2 gigahertz Processor Model: Intel 8th Generation Core i7 Processor Model Number: i7-8700 Operating System: Windows 10 Home Motherboard: ASUS Prime H310-PLUS Power Supply EVGA 650W, Semi-modular CPU Cooler: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX400 fan cooler I really enjoy playing games like Squad, Escape from Tarkov, and hopefully cyberpunk. I want these games to run a little better especially during fights and when I am in areas with a lot of population and things to render. right now in squad when I get to areas with a lot of buildings and fights it takes a dump sometimes the frames don't hold up to 60fps and drop below in places where there isn't a fight. Right now I'm playing at 1080p and 72 Hz is my max framerate on my monitor which is this -> https://www.asus.com/Displays-Desktops/Monitors/Eye-Care/VG255H/ I want to soon be able to play squad and other games at 144 fps and 4k with ultra graphics and no noticeable framerate drop during fights. I don't know what I should buy to accomplish this or if I should just start a completely new monster pc build but I don't know where to start if anyone has any recommendations.

Budget (including currency): £1,600 - £1,900 Country: United Kingdom Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Exclusively gaming, including titles like Rust, KSP, Space Engineers and AAA titles like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 Other details: This is my first build and is aimed at 1440p gaming at high to ultra settings with high FPS. Existing parts list is here: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/LumpyLenny/saved/32FjZL In terms of peripherals, I need everything from a wifi card through to a monitor, with the exception of a mouse and keyboard. I want to buy ASAP and will likely get the LG 27GL850-B today. A couple of things I'm unsure about are whether I should futureproof and go for 32 GB RAM, if that PSU is powerful enough for the build and whether that i7 will cause any bottlenecking issues for the 3070. Aside from those questions, any general feedback on this would be really helpful. Thanks

Decided to take the ssd out and install windows on another PC and then put the SSD back into the new PC. It came on but it was stuck on "preparing for automatic repair" and it has no loading animations. Some said it might be a bios problem, an update required or somewhat. But the motherboard is ryzen 5th gen ready from the factory itself. I tried switching over to another m.2 slot, doesnt seem to change a thing. The ssd works perfectly fine on the PC where I installed windows on.

I recently installed the Intel Wifi 6E m.2 in my MSI Z390 Gaming Plus motherboard. It doesn't seem to want to function.. All connectors are in, board's bios updated to latest version, and WIFI/BT drivers downloaded and installed (from what I can tell). I've looked all through my bios and can't identify where to enable the chip, and the motherboard won't even show that it's connected to the E-Key slot. Any help or incite would be appreciated, Thanks

I connected my PWM connector that is attached to my fan hub to the 12v rgb header on my motherboard. When I turned on my case fans aren't spinning anymore and the led lights are stuck on stagnant with different colors. The computer itself is working normally and there isn't seem to be any visible damage on the motherboard. Did I fry my fans? Did I fry my rgb header? Is it just the fan hub that is broken? Are there any damage that it dealt that I should know about? Please I'm really anxious and desperately need help. Thank you in advance for help, you are a great person. Budget (including currency): 900 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Programming, games, light content creation (Screen record and edit). Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): No peripherals needed except for a surge protector. Running a 3440x1440(60Hz) display and plan to get a 2k 16:9 display in the future to use in conjunction (Potrait for programming). I want to buy in the next 48 hours since my laptop is giving problems and I have work to do. Existing setup - MSI cs62 7QL (Laptop) - Intel Core i7 7500U, 12gb ram, Nvidia 940mx graphics, 1080p screen, 1tb Samsung 860 evo ssd. So I've a laptop (MSI cs62 7QL) which I use for my school, mainly for programming, some games (mostly fps, Gtav), edit videos as part of assignments (screen record and edit). I've been having problems with it since April 2020. I get BSODs (Windows 10) with the errors pointing towards driver issues/ ram/HDD/ corrupt system files. I've run many different tests out there and couldn't solve the issue. This issue keeps popping up every now and then and as a prevention I've swapped the internal Hitachi HDD to Samsung 860 evo and the problems didn't show up for a while. BSODs keep popping up, but it's not as bad as it used to be. But sometimes they show up when I'm working on an assignment and the deadline is near. So I've decided to build a custom desktop PC to achieve stability and just work doesn't have to worry about problems. I mostly use Windows 10 pro but also use Linux via WSL2. With the custom build I'm thinking about getting a 1Tb SSD and partitioning it to dual boot Windows 10 pro and Ubuntu. So the parts that I've chosen are as follows. The criteria for choosing them is below them. Processor - Intel core i7 10700 (I don't overclock) Motherboard - Asus H470-Plus/CSM Ram- Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB 3000MHz DDR4 CL15 DIMM (Single stick) SSD - Samsung 860 evo 1Tb Case - Lian Li Lancool 2 Mesh/ Fractal design Meshify C Power supply - Seasonic Focus GX-750 80+ Gold Surge protector - Not yet decided, please recommend one (I'm looking at Belkin or APC) The thought process behind choosing this processor is that it has integrated graphics and can output, wherein going with a Ryzen (mostly) should be paired with a graphics card which I don't have a budget for now. Also going with a high end processor is necessary for me since I run multiple VMs and develop web apps on Apache tomcat, also have to stream video during class hours and present as well sometimes, not to mention 30 or more browser tabs that I open sometimes. I said I game as well and since I don't have the budget now I'll get a graphics card later. The ram is nothing fancy and I've used Kingston ram in the past and it didn't give me any problems so I just leaned towards it. The choice of SSD is same as well that it's a well known brand and have good stability. I just want to have cool internals and am looking at a case which has good air flow, I don't care for fancy internals or RGB. I went with a Seasonic power supply since they are a reputable brand and are known to make good PSUs, going 750W gives me some headroom when I want to upgrade down the line with a good graphics card (I'm looking at RTX 3080 or RX 6800XT). I'm looking for recommendations and suggestions on my build here and any help is highly appreciated. The motherboard is something that I haven't done a lot of research on. Also alternatively I'm leaning towards a Core i9 9900k since it's on sale in Micro center. If you want to recommend a motherboard (or any other parts) for any of these builds or for a completely new set of parts please consider if it's available (motherboard) in Micro center (Chicago) since I can bundle them and get a discount. Thank you for your time.

Budget (including currency): 1600-2300USD Country: Norway Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Office, Photogrammetry, occasional gaming. Other details. I used to built computers in the 90s/00s, and I wanted to build a new computer. But wow things have changed a lot! It used to be quite simple (or probably still is just im out of the game), but looking at Asus for a motherboard for the new Ryzen 5000 it looks like there is like 20 boards to choose from? but not much to go on in which one to choose. A little background I have a 4 year old Dell XPS 15 laptop with i7 processor and 32gb memory. Due to changes in work I wont need to travel around that much. With the laptop due for upgrade I was thinking about a desktop instead, as I bet I get more bang for $. Primarily the machine is used for office work like CAD/Sketchup, Enscape Rendering, Photogrammetry and programming software's therefor the XPS15 have upgraded 32gb memory cause I use it all today. I also have a Dell U4320Q 43" Monitor that I use and love, and wont change this screen. Its not a gaming screen but its very good for multitasking. I love the Dell Display Manager. I would love to be able to play games on the new one, though I probably wont. I just miss the old days sometimes, and I think the last games I played was Battlefield 2, CS 1.6, Civilization... So I guess anything will blow my mind today So What I have looked at so far is this: Lian Li PC-O11DX cabinet (future proofing, want something that can be used in future upgrades). Recommended extra and silent fans? Ryzen 5 5600X (Is it worth going for the 7 5800X?) CPU Cooler, not sure what to use? Something silent water/air?, I wont be overclocking. Motherboard? I like Asus so would like to stick with that but which one? X570? Samsung 980 PRO SSD PCIe 4.0 NCMe M.2 500GB, MZ-V8P500BW (Dont need more than 500gb most stuff is in the cloud, and I have a 500GB SSD disk that I can throw in for extra storage) Corsair HX850i 850W - CP-9020073-EU (Not sure if this is enough or even overkill? just want it silent) Kingston HyperX Predator DDR4-2666 C13 QC - 64GB - HX426C13PB3K4/64 (Good enough or overkill?) ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 DUAL - 8GB GDDR6 RAM (My XPS15 runs GTX 1060 6gb, so I guess this is good?) The above list is just something I cooked together, but feel free to explain that I should choose other things. Like i bet some things are overkill and some things are forgotten. Thank you all for the feedback!

In a dual channel motherboard, what would be better 16GB X 2 or 8GB X 4 is there any performance difference? If yes, which and how and why???

I'm having an issue with my first build. My specs are the following. Asus prime b450m-a, ryzen 7 2700x, gigabyte gtx 1060, 1tb ssd, 1tb hdd. I dont have ram yet but i went to do a test start and noticed the graphics card was spinning for a brief second then stop and had no display. Everything was hooked up except for not having ram yet. Any ideas on this issue? The graphics card was given to me by a coworker who claimed it works.

I'm having difficulty choosing a motherboard for an build I'm planning. Haven't made any final choices but I'll copy paste my pcpartpicker list at the bottom. I'm basically waiting for new Ryzen to come out and see how it will affect prices of other cpu's before I make a final decision. I'm trying to find a vain balance between performance, efficiency and aesthetics. In the past I mostly used my PC for gaming, however lately video and audio editing has become much more common, and hoping it to be the primary use. And yes I know a 3090 is overkill, but it's down there as a pipe dream. I really like the look of the ASrock Taichi B550, and I'm mainly worrying about how much I lose out by not going with the X570. If I do end up sticking with intel, I'll most likely be on the Z490. I'm sure there are better motherboards out there, but I just need to know how much I'm injuring the potential of a build by going with a certain choice. So can anyone advise on where to go with this?
