Hey everyone. This is my first time posting on the forums after discovering LTT a few months back. Anyway, I am about to build my first PC in about one week. Well, more accurately, I am weighing whether I should build the PC or buy a great PC from Amazon by CyberpowerPC that rocks an i5-8400 and an RX 580. I'll include the link below for your opinions' on which one I should go with. Some have told me the prebuilt is better, which is fine by me, and others have told me the possible DIY build is better. Also, both computers, with everything included, such as a monitor and keyboard, will total to the same price. So I am looking to more experienced tech enthusiasts to help me understand which one is better. The prebuilt is actually a fantastic deal for what is in it especially comparing the same price to CyberpowerPC's on its own website. Please help me out. Thanks. 1. Budget & Location The budget is between $500 - $600 US dollars. Would consider going above the budget depending. Location: California. 2. Aim This build is going to be mainly used for Video game editing, rendering multiple projects, Youtube, Streaming on twitch or any platform. 3. Monitors I plan on running 2 monitors only, They are 4K monitors. No I do not plan on moving to more monitors in the future. 4. Monitor case Any cool reasonably priced case for the build. 5. Peripherals We have Peripherals already. Yes I will need an OS preferably windows. 6. Why are you upgrading? This my very first build and would really like the help from the community and professionals. please make it easy for me to distinguish the parts needed in order. If we get the right build we will most likely do a youtube video and give a shout out to the computer build we decide to go with. Thank you all in advance!

Ive recently coped an aimb 272g2 with an i7 and 16gb of ram. Looking at the specs it seems pretty old and I got it off craigslist. Ive been researching around about what I can do with this and I wanted to hear some thoughts whether it still has some usage to this day. Any recommendations for builds with this board combo?

Hey, I am currently in the process of planning my first proper build and was looking for some advice/recommendations. In the past Ihave tinkered with systems I have bought second hand but i have have the cash to build one of my own. I do a lot of work in Photoshop and Lightroom as well as a large amount of gaming and a bit of 3d work. After spending numerous hours watching videos and reading forum posts I have come up with this list. I'm really hoping this build is going to last me a number of years! intel i7 8700k asus strix z370-e noctua dh-15 corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3000 asus strix Rog gtx1080 samsung 960 evo 250gb m.2 seagate barracuda 2tb bequiet! dark base 700 bequiet! straight power 11 850w Thank you to anyone that is able to help

Can somebody link me to a good gaming PC build for under 300? If they're are any PCs under 300 that are prebuilt, that works too.

Hey folks, Looking to upgrade my PC so I can get some more -oomph- out of my software. I use Blender for modelling, Substance Designer and Substance Painter for texturing. I use 2 Monitors, but they are nothing special at all. HDMi input, but 1080p at best. This is simply a hardware upgrade, my peripherals are alright for now. Current specs as follows: Zotac GEFORCE GTX 660 AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor - 3.20 GHz 8GB (DDR3 I wanna say) RAM My main bottleneck I really have is my the 2GB of RAM on the card, so Substance Painter has some trouble in the viewport when using complex models. I'd like to improve that, as well as overall render times for my work when using Hair particles. Ideally I'd like to continue on with Nvidia since Blender takes advantage of their CUDA architecture. I'm hoping to keep the build around $2k CAD (I can work higher though, obviously cards are insane ATM). I can probably get by with the case I still have, but I think the core components will need to be upgraded. I don't care at all about RGB, so if its cheaper I'd like to go without that. Main question is, where do I start? I know the motherboard is a relevant starting point for when I choose CPU. I'd also like to get around 16GB of RAM in there. Where would you folks start if you had this problem? Many thanks

I posted a thread a couple days ago listing requirements for a pc that I am planning to build here soon. And thanks to some this forum I was able to get a parts list built pretty fast. Now what I would like to do is post the full parts list and double check that it will work with the monitors I plan to purchase as well as run the software I will be using. Hopefully with your help I can get any last tweaks/recommendations out of the way so I can start purchasing some parts. The parts list is as follows: AMD Ryzen Thread Ripper 1950x with H115i cooler bundle MSI x399 Gaming Pro Carbon AC Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 4GB GDDR5 PCiE x2 Samsung 960 EVO Series - 500GB NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD Team 16GB (2 x 8GB) T-Force Vulcan DDR4 PC4-24000 3000MHz x2 Seagate 2TB FireCuda Gaming SSHD (Solid State Hybrid Drive) - 7200 RPM I also still need a PSU I will be doing a custom case. This will be hopefully able to run two BenQ BL2711U - 27-Inch IPS 4K Monitors, both at 3840x2160. The main software it will be running: Simplify3D, Adobe AfterEffects and Da Vinci Resolve. I am not very up to date with newer computer hardware, which is why I am here. I want to be able to edit and render 4k video which is not possible on my current laptop but Simplify3d is. I hate long load times, so I figured I would bite the bullet and build something that will last for the next couple of years and also be able to play demanding game titles (whenever a decent one comes back out, RIP Hellgate). Hopefully this is enough information to go on. Thanks!

Hello, i am looking to get my first pc i found two options, i can get option a or option b. Choose which will be better for pubg considering i swap th graphics cards for 780tis Option a: $300 I5-6600k Z170 a H100v2 cooler 16 gb ram 2tb hard drive Two amd 7950s linked together, i would resell and get the best i could woth he money, probably a 780ti Option b: $400 Ryzen 5 1600 Ab350 pro Not sure what cooler 32 gb ddr4 ram 2400 2 tb hard drive Rx550 gpu, would be swapped for a 780ti. Which has better value and would run pubg better after swaping the cards, and what card should i get? Option a i can get 300 for the cards so it pays for itself option b i can get 150 so i have to put down an extra 50 so its essentially 450 for option b and 200 for option b.

I am making my first pc and I need a little help figuring out what is better they would both be very similar price wise with the 1070 ti being about 150$ CAD More than the 1070 and the ryzen 7 being about 130$ CAD. I was originally going with the 1070ti w/ Ryzen 5 but then a friend of mine suggested the latter. My question would be which is best for general gaming purposes.

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/DdYkFd Hi everyone, This is my first build and I'm struggling to decide on what is the best configuration of fans etc. to keep this case nice and cool. Where should I mount the CPU cooler (top or front?), and where should I place the two stock fans for input and output airflow, while working around the 1080 ti HYBRID cooler? I'm completely open to switching that Cooler Master CPU liquid cooler or buying 120/140 mm fans if necessary (but I'm already over budget so any savings would be fantastic!). I'm working with the Fractal Design Meshify C, but I'm open to other suggestions. Any other advice on the build in general would be welcome, and any prices would be best in GBP. Thanks in advance!

Hello Guys, I'm new on this forum, so please if I made an appropriate comment or statement, please correct me. I’m Going to build my new PC for 3D Modelling and 3D rendering for 3DsMAX and V-ray, but there are a lot of question I need to ask because I’m worried if I build this PC is not going to work properly. This is my Specification: Motherboard: still confused whether I should build for more RAM or for 4-way SLI. ASUS Z10PE-D16 WS or ASUS Z10PE-D8 WS CPU: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2699 v4 22-Cores GPU: (It will be increase in the future depend on the motherboard) 2x ASUS ROG-Strix GTX 1080 Ti – 11Gb Memory: (It can be increase in the future if the Motherboard is ASUS Z10PE-D16 WS) Corsair Dominator Platinum Series 128 (8x16Gb) DDR4 2666MHz SSD: (for OS) Samsung 960 Pro 512 GB M.2(PCIe) SSD SSD: (for Primary Active Data) Samsung 850 Pro 1 TB HDD: (for Storage) Seagate Barracuda Pro 4Tb PSU: (Please suggest me the best PSU for this PC) MasterWatt Maker 1500 Digital PSU Computer Case: Cooler Master Cosmos C700P Full Tower Water-cooling: Thermaltake Floe Riing RGB 360 TT Premium Edition My question is: 1. Should I focus on 4-way SLI from ASUS Z10PE-D8 WS or more RAM slot from ASUS Z10PE-D16 WS? 2. Can I do 4-way SLI on ASUS ROG-Strix GTX 1080 Ti – 11Gb for future upgrade (As I review this product is very thick GPU)? Or should I buy the Original GTX 1080 Ti from NVIDIA? 3. Is ASUS Z10PE can handle Xeon E5-2699 V4? I have take a look at the driver available in this motherboard and there is Xeon E5-2699 V4. However, in the overview, it specifically states that this motherboard is for E5-2600 V3 family. Should I change to E5-2699 V3 instead or it is alright? If there is any problem with this PC setup, please let me know… J Thank you so much and look forward to hearing from you guys…

Hi, I'm building a new PC this black Friday and I just was hoping to get some feedback on my build. My budget is around $1000 CAD (or $800 USD). I'm not looking for anything more than a 1050 ti as I only play games such as Csgo and FTL. Don't know what PSU I should use so I'm open to any recommendations. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/4KNhWX (I already own an SSD so don't bother adding one) Thanks for any feedback!

Hi there, This is my build, to be used exclusively for gaming: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/yTywNN I'm a complete novice and full of amateur questions, one of which concerns the motherboard I've chosen. It's the ASRock Z370 Extreme4, and I'm having trouble finding out exactly how many fans it can support without having to buy fan splitters. The ASRock stats page says it has: - 1 x CPU Fan Connector (4-pin)- 1 x CPU Optional/Water Pump Fan Connector (4-pin)- 2 x Chassis Fan Connectors (4-pin) (Smart Fan Speed Control)- 1 x Chassis Optional/Water Pump Fan Connector (4-pin) Does this mean it can support four 4-pin case fans and one CPU cooler fan prior to me buying extra fan splitters? Thanks in advance for any input. Any advice on the build in general would be welcome as well.

Budget & Location I live in New Zealand, and my budget is around $2000 NZD. Aim This system is going to be used for gaming. I might play games as high end like GTA V so will need a capable system, but will most likely play less demanding games like Minecraft. Monitors I will be using 1 1080P display and that doesn't need to be budgeted in. Peripherals No need to budget in. Why are you upgrading? My laptop can't even run Minecraft. Hello, this is my first time using a forum of any kind, I hope I’m posting this correctly as it took me 20min to figure out how to post this. I have never built a computer of any kind, but in the past few months I’ve grasped some basic concepts. So I have created a new build that suits my needs (gaming and school work), and is also in a comfortable-ish price range. This is my build: https://www.pccasegear.com/sc/bhwFb As I said I’m very new to all this, so I’m wondering if the parts for this build is -compatible (Do all the parts work togther well, no bottle necking) -good for gaming (I have a Toshiba laptop that i use to play dota2 on low settings for 17 fps, so anything above this is good) -anything important missing (Do I need like a modem for the pc to connect to wifi?) Thankyou guys for your help (hopefully) p.s I am looking for a cheap curved monitor, if anyone knows any please tell me. (Price range around 200~400 aud)

Full Story: If there is any mistakes or posted wrong board to ask for help, please PM/DM me so I can remove it and move it. Sorry about it. Short Story is at the bottom. So about two years ago, I was interested on building my own computer and had no idea on what to select (Still don't know till this day). I wanted a computer that can both record, render and play in 1080p with no delay and footage issues using OBS Studio and Vegas. I went on toms hardware and was recommended to build a particular set. In the thread I asked for recording, rendering, and able to play in 1080p with these types of games; Command and Conquer Series, Doom (Zandronum), Age of Empires II, Sim City Series and other games that I had listed. Needless to say, my video recording software OBS Studio showed up in choppy, blocked render in 1080p and the video recording size would be around 100gb for about 3 hours which is a lot. Here is a few examples of what the video looks like after rendering it on Vegas. Its going to be videos cut to the blocky parts and cropped into one entire video. Link: https://youtu.be/4MVlWj4avcI - The game is Megaman8bitDM. I do not remember my old build that much but this is my attempt to show my original build. Specs: Was worth around $700 dollars but missing some hardware. CPU - AMD FX (TM) 6300 Six Core Processor GPU - AMD Radeon R9 200 Seires Motherboard - GA-78LMT-USB3 16 GB of Ram Using Windows 10 Previously I asked on linustechtips forums if my GPU is too weak to record in 1080p and got a few mixed answers. With some saying that my hardware for the GPU and CPU is too old and weak to record in 1080p, and others saying that to use Re Live instead. I tried to use Re Live, but I prefer to use OBS Studio. Link to thread - So I had an idea on building another computer for recording the older computer screen. I had many suggestions on not to do this since it would be too complex and/or difficult to pull off. There was one idea on using Remote control over lan, but I can try this later. This idea was quickly shut downed. But I have the thread to this one as well. So this is what I want to do, build another computer for the only purpose of recording games in full 1080p in 60 fps. After the recording is finish, transfer the files to my older computer and using this as a rendering only computer for Sony Vegas. I had an idea on using either a Ethernet port on connecting both computers together or using a external hard drive to connect both but I do not know how would this work out. The games I want to record is still the same from the start - Command and Conquer Series, Doom (Zandronum), Age of Empires II, Sim City Series, Warhammer 40k Soul Storm, Warcraft III, and many other games. Many of these games are either recent or old. I do not need another keyboard/mouse, since im planning to find out on connect one keyboard/mouse to multiple computers or two for this case. Although I do need a Monitor that has 1080p. I do have a iMac mid 2010 computer, but I want to sell it because there is a issue with the hard drive and I only use it for video watching. My budget is about $800 dollars, but I can get more if this is not enough for a new build. I also want to try to get a Mac OS to run on my second build, but I dont think that this is needed, since my games only run in windows. This is the setup I was recommended, but I want to see if there is a better one, because it can only record in 1080p with overclocking CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 1200 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor ($99.99 @ Amazon)Motherboard: Asus - PRIME B350-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard ($69.99 @ Newegg)Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($89.99 @ Newegg)Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($41.89 @ SuperBiiz)Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 3GB GAMING Video Card ($204.98 @ Newegg)Case: Fractal Design - Focus G (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ SuperBiiz)Power Supply: Corsair - TXM Gold 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($59.99 @ Newegg)Total: $606.82Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when availableGenerated by PCPartPicker 2017-11-30 17:24 EST-0500 Short Story: I have a outdated computer build that has bad recording/rendering quality. When recording in 1080p the video comes out like this - https://youtu.be/4MVlWj4avcI . I was told that it would be good to record and play in 1080p but it turns out it was not. The game I play/record is Command and Conquer Series, Doom (Zandronum), Age of Empires II, Sim City Series and other games. My specs for my old build can be found on the full story in its own section. I ask the community if my hardware should be updated, but someone suggested to just build a whole other computer. I agreed, but had another idea on using one computer to record another computer until this was quickly debunked. So this is my current plan, use one computer to record and the other to render it. I also need help with how to connect two computers together. The last build is the one I got recommended, but I want a upgrade since I need to overclock everything to use it. If you have any question to help, please do no hesitate to ask.
